Feel a bit tired today even though my husband did the night feeds to give me a night off. Probably just my body adjusting to the diet. Cannot do a proper entry as I have a baby sleeping on my chest but I'm sticking to the diet so far!

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 57 lbs to go!

Thanks for all the comments - I really appreciate it. I would rather eat real food but I really don't have time at the moment and the shakes are 230cals each with nutrients so they beat biscuits!

I'm down 1.5lbs this morning which is probably all water weight but still motivating!

I'm off to a reunion with my friends from antenat classes and their babies at lunchtime which will be nice. However I'm exhausted as my son decided to feed 4 times between midnight and 7am as well as dirty two nappies and one outfit!

I'll return the favour on the comments front when I get back.

I've never used slimfast, but there's a diary here (in case you're interested) of someone who used it early on in her journey. The diarist is Halley and if you want to read it, just click on the magnifying glass icon up top and put her name in the search box. Her diary is an inspiring read anyway as she lost quite a bit, however she hasn't posted in ages.

So here goes. I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy 6 weeks ago. It's my husband and my first child and he is so wonderful. He weighed 8lbs 9oz at birth and was born on his due date after a long and painful induction. He had a difficult start in life as he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect before birth so he was placed in special care and transferred to a London hospital after birth and was nil by mouth for the first 5 days of his life as he was expected to need heart surgery. Thankfully they decided he doesnt need an op yet so he wAs discharged a week later. Unfortunately we rushed him to our local a&e the next day as he went limp, sleepy, off his feeds and was breathing v fast. Turns out he caught Norovirus while in hospital. After getting severely dehydrated in hospital he eventually got better and we were discharged on Easter Sunday. He is now feeding v v regularly and gaining weight well (he's now 10lbs 5oz).

So although I'm still struggling with sleep deprivation I think the time has come to try to lose the massive amount of baby weight. I'm doing slimfast as I can't find time to eat proper meals during the day any way so it makes sense! I've got my 6week doctor app next week and hope to be signed off to exercise whih will help. I'm the heaviest ive ever been but at least it's for a good reason! I'm excited to lose the weight now though!

One of my best friends is getting married in August so I'd like to at least be back to my pre pregnancy weight of 154lbs by then. I think that should be doable.

Welcome to the DD and congratulations on your baby's birth! You had a really rough start so kudos to you for focusing on your health during a difficult and sleep deprived time. As rough as it may be, my advice would be to ditch the Slimfast and try to get some real food in you. I know it's SO tough to focus on yourself with an infant in the house (I have an almost 4-year-old and 5-year-old) but maybe pre-cook some healthy easy to grab foods if you don't have time to prepare? If you incorporate just a little exercise (walking while pushing the pram/stroller is a great workout) that will help too. Slimfast is a quick fix and won't set you up for any sort of sustainable weightloss. Just my opinion after many years of struggling and observing others struggle on this site. Best wishes to you!

maybe you could stock your fridge/pantry with very grab and eat foods like grapes,apples,strawberries,ect maybe ff lunchmeat ect,packets of trail mix,nuts ect.the choices can go on and on,you get the idea.shakes might not satisfy a real hunger,a shake won't compare to real food for your body to burn and utalize to function for that day. congrats on your new bundle :) good luck in your new journey in life with both baby and a healthier you.

It took nine months to gain the baby weight - give yourself more than nine weeks to lose it. You need strength and energy to care for a newborn, especially one who needs extra TLC. Take care of yourself and your family and the time will come to drop the weight. Trust me, been there done that two times. Good luck and enjoy the little one!
