~ Pop some popcorn without putting the lid on.
~ When someone says, "Have a nice day," tell them you have other plans.
~ Make a list of things to do that you have already done.
~ Put your toddler's clothes on backwards and send him to preschool as if nothing is wrong.

Hello,

HOP - Loving the kombucha - pricy but loving it

I scheduled a massage today - after my trip to Gettysburg and being on my feet in the cold - I need it - especially my calves they get soooo tight it is painful.

I found some CJ Banks on sale and ordered a few things - I know I should not have - but it was such a good sale and then I found a $20 off online coupon which they  accepted.  If you do any online shopping, it pays to search the web for discounts.

I have a challenging week next week - I am proctoring the state exam in an area near me.  The day will run from 7-5 and it is almost an hour away.  Long days ahead - prob just go stratigh to bed each night.

Actually this will be the perfect week to really control my eating.  I'll be so busy I won't have time to eat hahah - not that that is good.

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGjust let the cat in and there is SNOW coming down and on the ground!!!  I'm glad I didn't plant my pansys yet!!  I want to get them planted before May!!

Oh well....................

Progress as of today: 0.6 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

puddles on 04/09/2016:
I understand it is still very cold here again today but sunny -14C with windchill suppose to warm up to -1C wow.... lol Have a great day.

hollybelle on 04/09/2016:
Busy week ahead for me means I have to be careful to plan what I will eat or I will resort to unhealthy fast foods and stuff I really don't want to eat. That happened to me this week somewhat - it was good to recognize it! Hope it warms up soon. It's only going to be 45 degrees here today - but the sun is shining, at least. I remember the year husband I met it snowed 4 inches on 4/16! So anything is possible. It's snowed as late as the first Saturday in May (Derby Day FYI).

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/10/2016:
Hi mommy!

Good idea for a massage if your body is hurting. I bought a foot massage special on Groupon. I'll be using it maybe today if they are open, otherwise sometime during the week. Same as you, my legs get very tight.

Glad you like the kombucha. There are ways to make it. Although I will not be doing that right now. The cheapest I find the bottles on sale around me is when there is a special, around $2.50 per bottle. Otherwise, they are at least $2.99 up to $4.

I love the kombucha bc it keeps me regular in mornings. Once in awhile I don't need it. And once in awhile I need more of it. Depends on many things. Many brands have some natural caffeine in them, take note.

That's a long day indeed for proctoring. Make sure to get some water in you when you can...and maybe bring some snacks so you are prepared a bit - maybe have dinner in mind and thought of so that when you get some you don't have to work more after that long day :)

take care :)

Ohh my - what a week so far.  With normal work and extra work due to reportcards and a field trip to the Gettysburg Battlefield - this week has been a blurr.  Gettysburg was cool and windy but lots of fun.  Found some Christmas gifts at the gift store too. That being said..............

My eating has been awful all week.

I need to get back on track TODAY!!

Started the AM with Kombucha drink.

Planning on Ton's of water to cleanse.

OH and Just FYI - Groupon is holding a 2 day sale with 25% off your groupon with the code 25OFF in the promo.  Good for 3 purchases.

Getting back on track today and will get back to putting notes on the doors

Progress as of today: -0.4 lbs lost so far, only 10 lbs to go!

Looking Good, Mom. Gettysburg has lots of history. I liked it too.

Thanks for the Groupon advice although I am saving my money for now...but keep us advised regarding groupon always please!!!!!!

next, you look fabulous in your photo - keep up the GREAT work!

and yes, be a stickler / tight-a$$, obsessive, whatever you gotta do, posting notes, etc., to keep yourself in charge and on track at home! I do the same! :)

cybermom4 on 04/09/2016:
Thanks Coach HOP - I wish I had you near by as my 'sponser' there are some moments when I just 'dive in and eat' and that is wrong!! I act possessed. I crave and I eat without even thinking. That is why I am hoping the notes will help. Oh and I am Loving the kombucha!! Great tip!

hollybelle on 04/07/2016:
Back on track for both of us! I am in - you too!!

cybermom4 on 04/09/2016:
Gooo Hollybelle!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/08/2016:
So what do you think of the kombucha? lately, it's like it still helps me in the morning, but maybe I've built a tolerance? hmmm, I love this stuff. It elimates most of my bathroom issues at work completely since I can take care of that before work! lol

The nice thing about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you're doing, somebody else always does.

School trip today.  Probably eatingout - hoping to get a salad or a decent sandwich - no pizza please!!  (I usually LOVE pizza but today not interested)

Farmer Joe decided his injuries from the accident were serious enough to take the trucking company responsible for the accident to court. In court the trucking company's fancy lawyer was questioning farmer Joe.
"Didn't you say at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine,"' asked the lawyer.
Farmer Joe responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite mule Bessie into the..."
"I didn't ask for any details," the lawyer interrupted, "just answer the question. Did you not say at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'?"
Farmer Joe said, "Well, I had just got Bessie into the trailer and I was driving down the road..."
The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the highway patrolman on the scene that he was fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question."
By this time the judge was fairly interested in Farmer Joe's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say."
Joe thanked the judge and proceeded, "Well, as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my truck right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear ol' Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a highway patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he went over to her. After he looked at her, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the road with his gun in his hand and looked at me." He said, "Your mule was in such bad shape I had to shoot her. How are you feeling?"

Happy Tuesday!!

Well - I started the AM great but did not follow through at all!!  Ended up eating icecream, fritos, 1 carrot cake cupcake - I was a mess!!  Not sure if it was the nerves from all the stress of the weekend - although it was a good time - it was a busy weekend.

There - I confessed I'm a junk food junkie!!  The sugar high makes me feel good and I don't know how to break the habit.

I"m going to get back on calorie counting for sure!!  Weight is back up to 193  from 189- BOO!  I even changed it back on my DD info.  I'm going to be honest..

I really have no excuse.  I am  on my own this week.  Two kids are home but they have school, I have plenty of food for them to eat.  I should be on my own have self control.

B - glass applecider vinegar and lemon water, pineapple and watermelon

S. Protien bar

Some years ago, there was a Mensa convention in San Francisco. Mensa, as you know, is a national organization for people who have an IQ of 140 or higher.
Several of the Mensa members went out for lunch at a local cafe. When they sat down, one of them discovered that their salt shaker contained pepper, and their pepper shaker was full of salt.
How could they swap the contents of the two bottles without spilling any, and using only the implements at hand?
Clearly, this was a job for Mensa minds.
The group debated the problem and presented ideas and finally, came up with a brilliant solution involving a napkin, a straw , and an empty saucer.
They called the waitress over, ready to dazzle her with their solution.
"Ma'am," they said, "we couldn't help but notice that the pepper shaker contains salt and the salt shaker."
But before they could finish the waitress interrupted, "Oh, sorry about that."
She leaned over the table, unscrewed the caps of both bottles and switched them.
There was dead silence at the Mensa table.

Lovely time at the funeral.  So many family and friends from far away.  Makes me so glad for sending the annual Christmas photo Card to each of them for I learned how much they love seeing the family each year.  (Which BTW my son and wife are expecting baby #2 end of July!!)    The gathering was also fun b/c my kids are all adults now and were mingling in with many older folks and had a great time!

Food wise...............well - let's just say I'm starting today a fresh and a new!!!

This is going to be a cleanse week:  Not will power just determiniation.

Question for all of you  - how do you balance "love yourself just the way you are"  and "love yourself as you begin a healthy you"?  I find myself 'hating' my body one minute and wanting to be healthy  then when I find a new cute shirt and pant that make me feel good  - I say "I'm okay"  and I eat an italian sub!!  How do I change my thinking?

Starting the day with

B - apple cider vinegar and lemon water;  Coffee, and lots of water

Ordered some kombucha tha HOP talks about.  It will be here Wed. Case of 12 bottles.  I'm eager to try.

Just returned home from MIL fureral.  It was an Irish Wake - great time of celebration and joy for family and friends.  And guess what - I did not think once about my weight.  There were so many people there who werre with illnesses and hardships and I was strong and in my heels feeling blessed.  I hugged many and I know my MIL is in Heaven proud to see all her freinds and family gathered in her honor.

Funny - I'm not dismissing the great need for eating healthy and right, but I am now aware that life is short and spending so much time thinking about myself is silly.  People are gracious an people can be rude, but as long as I am being the best I can be that is all that matters.

I'm glad to hear you didn't stress about people judging you. We do have to do our best and that may not mean striving to look like the model on the cover of Glamor or Cosmo - or what ever magazine, but if we gonna live life to the full while we are here we may as well be healthy as we can be. Not stressing over it - but as healthy as we can! Have a bless day!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/27/2016:
I loved reading this honest, truthful & emotional entry. I feel that on a good day for me, it's something I would want to write & share too. It's so nice to read this & even better to hear that you are alright, doing good despite the difficult time, and feeling confident in who you are. it's easy to sometimes feel better if we look around and see what's really around us - and how there's so much difficulty in this world, and when we see the things we are blessed with, sometimes it really helps :)

Four men were fishing in a boat on the lake. The boat turned over and all four men sank to the bottom of the lake. And yet, not one single man got wet! How can this be?  (two possible answers)

Funeral for MIL is Friday and Sat; son sprained ankle; my gps died and had to buy new one right off shelf at Costco (I like to have a large screen from Amazon, but this one is fine) - girls are driving in from school.  Many of husband's family are driving or flying in.  It is sad that it takes a funeral to make travel plans but all in all it will be very nice to see everyone.  It has been over 10 years since I saw many of them - I'm sure I won't know whos who.  Husbands family is very very kind so I'm sure they won't hold it against me if I need their name again.

I am sitting here wishing  - Oh I should have started my diet earlier - I'm going to meet all these people with my apple shape belly, Everyone is going to look so thin and good and I'm going to surprise them all with how big I am - I am wearing heels, black stockings, a cute skort and black top.  Hopefully draw the eye up from the belly.  ----Am I obsessing?  This is about my MIL not me!!  Just greet and love and learn how everyone is doing and pay respects to all in the family.  Support my children who lost their grandmother and relax!!

There ------I vented!!     Hope I don't sound too selfish - but this is the best place I know to express ....................

OK answer to riddle:  don't groan too much!!

Not a single man got wet -

A.  all were married or

B. not a single man -but All the men got wet

hollybelle on 03/24/2016:
I have some anxiety about meeting people I don't know - and also people who haven't seen me in awhile. Its kind of a waste of time, though. I am 62 years old and most people my age realize that if we are still here, able to get around and don't have any significant health problems - we are lucky whatever our size. The younger ones who may judge us - probably don't care - they are too worried about themselves. So really bottom line - just look your best and go honor your MIL and catch up with family you may not have seen in awhile. God bless.

cybermom4 on 03/24/2016:
Beautiful encouragement!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/26/2016:
Were the men wearing Wet Suits!!? hahaha....?

I am sorry about your Mother in Law. I send my regards to you & your family at this difficult time.

I hope your son feels better soon. Make sure he does the right thing in terms of rest and phys. therapy as it heals so that it's not a life-long annoyance like my ankle is! I still am working (hard come May!) to make it stronger and ready for the NYPD! :)

Ummm, my GPS is old. How did yours die? I am nervous about that for mine. I may download a GPS app for my phone so I can use that if my GPS gives me anymore problems. I think I need to update my GPS' maps....it always reminds me, but I never do. Maybe i'll update it after the wedding & before I drive to Atlantic City, but, probably nOT! lol. Mine still works luckily. Works great. I have had it for...let me think about this....around 10 yrs or more.!!

Remember this one tip about social / family events: the most focus on you is put on you by you. What I mean is, everyone is concerned about how they look and nobody judges you harder than yourself. To make you feel better, when I was a bit heavier, I also struggled to go to a funeral once when I had very little clothes available in my closet to choose from (I remember it was for a guy my age at the time who committed suicide so sad), it was when I was 26 (now i'm 33), and I remember thinking about how I looked even as I was standing there at the actual funeral service at the cemetery. Sorry for the details if it as too much. I'm just trying to tell you - you may be focusing on how you feel so much also because it's easier than thinking about the funeral or the person who passed away. Don't worry. Everyone feels out of place at these things. Everyone. So don't worry Mom...go there, do your thing, and be the wonderful lady you are always. Because you are.

 Hello,

I haven't disappeared - just family emergency - hospice called for mother in law and lots going on.  She is still non responsive and shallow breating so her time is very near.

She was a sweet woman - always laughing, loved a great bargain, and always cooking morning, noon and night.  She was known for always purchasing the newest weight loss gadget.  The latest we call the butter churner.  It has a base you stand on, a pole you hold on to and then you flip the switch and the pole vibrates massively and you hold on for dear life LOL.  She used it maybe once!!  Too funny.  Anyway they are out in the country so no internet.

Probably won't be over eating there - but I make a vow - no sweets!!

Have a great day everyone and thanks for letting me share!

A very old man lay dying in his bed. In death's doorway, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookie wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort forced himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands.

With labored breath, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven. There, spread out on newspapers on the kitchen table were literally hundreds of his favorite chocolate chip cookies. Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted wife, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man?

Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself toward the table. The aged and withered hand, shaking, made its way to a cookie at the edge of the table, when he was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife. "Stay out of those," she said. "They're for the funeral."

Hoping for a good day today.  I know I have said this before, but I am a slow learner - HOP - I am going to seriously consider my food intake.  I like your advice about the gym - 2 days is good for now, but increase the veggies  - and water.

I am going to post notes around the house in my 'hot spots' like the fridge 'Did you drink WATER?" - the cupboard - 'Did you try VEGGIES"  I know it sounds silly - but insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting new results = I'm insane!!  I have to want to stop this careless eating  but my mind doesn't seem to remember so hence the notes!!  Even in my office cube "Drink  Water"  or even "How do you Feel Right now?  Thirsty?? - WATER".

Today is Tuesday - I wll see how this goes today - one day at a time.

Now time to print signs!!

Have a great day everyone !!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/15/2016:
I love your idea for the notes. No, I don't use notes, but I do write calories throughout my day down. Every day. This is "my insanity." In order to reach any goal that is a challenge, a person does need to find ways to help them. So, it may be notes for you - calorie counting for me - but although others might take it as crazy - it's what is keeping us sane. :)

Do what you have to do in order to be the best you. I like your idea of the notes. They are positive reminders, helpful & not hurtful.

If you google about weightloss, you'll see all studies agree that it's the calories / food aspect that is more an indicator of success towards weightloss. I do plan to comment and give more tips - maybe if you can ask me specifics.

Usually, in terms of my determination which is extra strong right now because I have a wedding on 4/2 for my only sister - that's why I am extra driven this winter. Well, it takes me to getting sick or exhausted which is what I am (sick right now but not something terrible) to take a day off a planned gym day. So, since you mentioned my motivation and you wanting some, take my motivation to go today since i'm not going. I hope to make up for it tomorrow & may actually take tomorrow off without pay. haven't decided for sure. I just don't find it healthy to feel so tired & burned out....it's been around 5-6 months without vacation for me....

okay, you want to know more about my dedication - well, it's intrinsic. A lot has to do with proving to BOTH myself and the world (yes, I feel a drive to prove myself to others which may not be healthy but it works for me) that I am strong & will reach my biggest goals of NYPD.

Gym is a stress-reliever for me. I feel relaxed after going. It's like an addictive feeling - makes it easier for me to keep going....feel free to ask away. i'll try to give you more tips based on your questions...reading your joke above later today.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/15/2016:
