 Hey girls,

I've been super busy last week. Work in Argentina was really great and even though that have catering and treats all day long, i was able to come back with the same 179 as I left. I seem to be pretty stuck on that weight. I wanna change that in the weeks to come.

I am starting a belly dance class on tuesday. It goes all through the end of November, when we actually perform. Hahaha. I think it's funny, but I'm up for the challenge, Im sure it will help me to stick to it knowing i need to perform!

In argentina I had a ceviche, it was a plate of cubes of a few types of fish and shrimp and calamari all cooked on lime juice and lots of cilantro. its so awesome tasting and refreshing, for those of you who havent tried it, i suggest you look it up online, it's really easy to make and healthy, no oil, just the good fats of fish. They served it with a little chopped tomatoes and corn on the side, i am thinking of trying it with chopped avocado as well. johnny will be my guinea pig next week when i make it. we're talking about how to be healthier together.

 Arrived this morning in Buenos Aires. It's cold here, around 41. Brrr. Quite a change, it was warm in Atlanta. Atlanta has been hit hard by the rain. Let's hope it ends now and the families that had to evacuate get places to stay.

Busy day. Tomorrow it will be busier. at least 10 or 11 hour shoot day. 

 

B: juice, toast, cheese, yogurt

L: spinach and pasta

S: bread again

D: eggplant with cheese and salad.

Ironic, isn't it, that Atlanta and that whole area has had such a long period of drought, and now they have this massive flooding. Feast of famine it seems.

My next door neighbor goes to Argentina every winter. He has family there.

Had a wonderful date with my bf last night, dinner and a movie. :)

Today I had meetings all day and went to dinner with a friend, probably eating out too much. I should go back to tuna and yogurt :)

 

- strawberries, coffee, half low fat muffin.

- chicken sandwich, a spoon of pasta salad

- 1/2 cookie, grapes

- burger (ugh).

T: 2500 maybe? not sure how bad that big burger was...

I had a session with my life coach yesterday. She suggested two things for the weight loss, a book called The Only Diet There Is and the Overaters Anonymous workbook. I will try to do the workbook since I don't feel like going to the meetings, but i am not opposed to try a meeting either. She also suggested journaling and planning ahead. But what she says and I agree is that it's all in our heads, and we don't need a miraculous combination of foods to mater our weight, we know what to do, what we need it a different mind set, and thus the books, the OA, etc. 

Thoughts?

 B: juice, banana and fiber 300

L: tuna 80 yogurt 70 cheese sandwich 420

S: bananas honey fiber iogurt 420

Subtotal - 1290

Today Im shooting for 1900 cals, since its too late for going low.

Apparently, you can do OA meetings online, you know. I do think that a lot of it is in our heads. Well, maybe not for you, because i'm not living in your brain (ha ha). But I know for me, MOST of my weight issues have almost always had emotional reasons behind them.

I don't know. I really like food. I think the exercise thing is my head. I have been telling myself that I suck at physical activities since I was picked last for kickball in the 3rd grade. I was in yoga class one day when the teacher told me I had a sense of rythm, strength and flow and asked if I was a dancer. I completely fell out of my tree pose -- I thought "I can't dance, I can't run, I cant swing a tennis raquet." But after I thought about it. WHY CAN'T I? So I asked my husband, a natural athlete, to play tennis and basketball with me and to take me running. I am not a natural but he has told me that I am not without hope either. For years, I just thought I had to be un-athletic. All the while, I just needed to try what felt good to me. Now I do yoga and I am running over a mile, I joined a bowling league and even play tennis with friends. Sure, I am not running marathons, but maybe some day . . .

Morning - juice, banana, fiber 250

Snack - juice 100

Lunch - salad and avocado on whole wheat 300, yogurt 50 - 350

Snack - yogurt, granola, fruit  300

Dinner - shrimp 80, oil 100, brocoli, mushrooms 30 and rice 240 - 450

Total 1500

 

Controlled my eating today. yay.

So, I haven't worked out in weeks and feel pretty crappy. Really low in energy as well.

Today I started that 5 days cleanse I like doing sometimes, it always helps getting my energy up, so I hope it will be a different story on Friday! :)

I intend to workout 3 times this week.

And Donkey, you are right, I meant Lymph nodes. I was just testing your portuguese! ;)

Yea, the type of tumor she had could spread in one of two ways: to the vagina, which hasn't and they already looked into that on the first surgery, or up her body through the lymph nodes, which is why she needed the second surgery. They removed them and they were all clear, which made the doctors said she's cured.

 

With that said, since medicine is not an exact science, she needs both chemo and radiation to make sure we're 110% safe of leaving any bad cell there. She just heard last night she needs chemo as well, so she's still processing that information. I really hope once she starts the treatment she sees how it is and it doesn't affect her much.

My grandma had chemo for colon cancer that had spread to her lungs. The chemo used to really wear her out, but she did not lose her hair or anything. It sounds like she has a great team of docs taking care of her, amen.

I will think of you today at Mass. :-)

hey girls, im back and missed you, but didn't have enough time to be on the laptop and when i did, i was doing work!

anyway, i had a stressful trip, of course, but all in all things went well. my mom's second surgery went well and all the linfo nodes they removed to test for cancer cells came back negative. there were two possible ways of it to spread and one was the vagina, which they had already checked and was clean and the linfo nodes. so those news were a GREAT relief!

she still needs treatment and tonight she would know better what exactly it would be. we're thinking radio for sure and possibly chemo. but the doctors said she is pretty much cured (they do preventive treatment since medicine is not exact science!).

it was hard to see her in pain, and scared and all of us be scared and stressed out, but i left her much much better and things are getting under control again. not that i did all that much, but just was there for the hardest days.  i stayed home for almost two weeks, today im back and came straight to work, ugg so tired.

 

as far as the diet, no changes, didn't lose or gain, didn't work out just walked a little. i just wanted to give you an update. i will start posting about the diet soon.

Glad to hear that your mom is doing better. If I may, gently, I think you mean "lymph nodes"? Yes, that is very important to check and it is good that she had some biopsied. Also, it's not so much that the medicine is not exact but rather that things, such as cancer, happen at a microscopic level that she needs the chemo to zap and kill the potential for any regrowth.

Rest up and give yourself some time to get back into the swing of things. Seriously, though, I am quite relieved to hear that she will be fine.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts.

I talked to my mom and she's having surgery on Saturday, but she checks in on Friday morning, so i changed my flight to tomorrow night, so i can arrive there on Thu morning and spend a whole day with her before she goes to the hospital. She was happy to hear that. 

So tonight is my last night here until around 09/08. I have a few errands to run. I'll post tomorrow, but then it's more likely i wont post till around next Wednesday again.
