I had a great week comparatively speaking. I did a far better job remaining calm with my boss away than I did in the past. that's all that matters. :)

770 before lunch...

1500 or so before dinner.

total today is prob around 2150-2200. decent.

and now i'm done eating for the night.

looking to go to bed majorly early.

tomorrow is crazy busy with the dentist at 10:15am and then the beach for the remainder of the day...and I mean that. i'll get home later on, around 6pm-8pm depending what we decide to do for dinner.

little crazy of a week, glad it's done.

this is one of the ONLY summers where I have totally not lost weight near the end, near my bday (it's in 1.5 weeks). I am trying again to create even a small weekly deficit but it's also due to a lack of consistency in exercise and lack of cardio. i'll make it all work though. in the end, everything works out :)

Took a sleeping pill last night. So I did get a great amount of sleep, I think at least 8 hrs and probably a hair more! I did wake up slightly groggy as the pills I take, Sleepinal, work very well.  I have tried Zzzquill, but they don't work nearly as well.  Sometimes on the weekend if I wake up too early like before 6 or around 6, i'll take a Zzzquill, a single one, and be able to sleep 3 hours more.  Only bad side effect of Sleepinal is that I usually am tired thru the rest of the morning the next day.

Either way, i'm really starting to use sleeping pills to help me sleep more and it's working.  It's really the best thing for me right now.  Sleep is when the body heals and in general my body, maybe not my brain since like I said I was groggy, but my body feels better rested than it usually does.  My limbs feel lighter and not weighed down.  My ankle still feels a light weakness and tightness, but is overall feeling better. In general, I feel better.

What I probably could use is much more rest.  I know it sounds funny, because i've been sleeping better.  But really Sunday night I didn't get enough and same with Tuesday night. But really, without any long vacations and time off, I tend to get very lethargic time to time.  It could be overexercising on weights.  I was reading about it online and I think time to time I do too much at the gym with my weights routine.

Maybe tonight I should skip the gym to sleep extra again.  I could.  And actually, now I'm considering it.  I could just blow off exercise this week to opt for rest. But I should get back to the gym I think..?  I did take 3 days off.  And when I go to the gym, even my digestion improves. So i'll go back there tonight after work.  I almost don't want to go to the gym today. But I will, so that I can continue to increase my weights that I use (bigger) and not have to go down a weight size because of skipping so many sessions. I'll go tonight :)

my direct boss was off this week. and that's why i'm taking advantage of the week and leaving work earlier to come home Monday & Wednesday and just relax.  It was a smart idea for me to do this. Tuesday was busy after work. And tonight i'll go back to the gym.  Can't be lazy always, but I did have a more relaxing evening on Monday & Wednesday. I will be "relaxing" all day at work today. It'll be good to move my body tonight with upper body weights. I'm taking a physical therapy break until the first Wednesday in September.  and staying in touch with my awesome physical therapist by text until then. He's single and so sweet.

the egg on potato roll (small roll, 130 cals) with extra butter that I've been having since Monday is not really satisfying for breakfast or a snack in the morning at work.  I tend to want to eat it only 2 hours before lunch so that i'm not starving by lunch.  It's a well balanced thing to eat, in my opinion, but doesn't fill me up or stick with me...then again, lately i'm eating too much volume in my meals, especially lunch and dinner. way overboard on the vegetables. It's emotional eating. Tonight I am planning on the gym.  Also, I'll prob be eating more bars today...

6:30am: banana 120 and kombucha 80. .190.

Work breakfast: i should stick with the roll with egg and butter. 300, coffee with milk and 2 equal 50

10am work snack: I could have a healthy yogurt? or bar...230

780 before lunch...good.

 

1600 before gym. 1800 after. And chips. 1950. Still good. So I sorta made up for yesterday's 2400. I feel myself gaining weight a tad. Will try to lose weight in September. And end of August now starting on the weekend. Really gonna work towards it :)

Sleeping pills are a mixed bag- it gives us good hours of sleep but the pay back is often feling groggy for a few hours. Glad your ankle is feeling better.

Work Snack: small bar 130

10am work breakfast: roll with extra butter 200, egg 100. 300.

around 600 before lunch :) and coffee. 650.  

1300 after lunch...

1400 after snack on way home...fruit.

doing my usual overeating, especially in the evening tonight and Monday since I am not at the gym. but luckily it's mostly veggies & oil tonight, because I had planned on it and was prepared. today it was pretty balanced eating. I am def eating more than usual and even bigger meals at work too.

anyways, it's around 1950 before a bar of some sort. I had tons of veggies and slaws and oil and and dressings for dinner, at home tonight. I know why also - I am quite tired and what I really want is some relaxation / alone time. and you know what!? I get it right now :)

 

Decided to indulge 2350-2400.

Tomorrow I will watch calories. Also, I will keep cals low on the weekend. My bday is in 2 weeks. I never did lose any weight this summer but once again I was battling tendonitis. Giving myself a break but in September especially over the Jewish holidays I'll try to regroup.

Work edit: my dad called and told me he's speaking at the union meeting tonight at 6pm...so that's where i'm going. Then out to eat with my dad at 7pm. no exercise, just walking 10 min to the meeting from my apt.  My dad is a guest speaker, not usually at these meetings, so I gotta go - only bc he is my dad :) otherwise, i'd prob have skipped.

Edit after meeting: my dad did an excellent job speaking :)  my friend sitting next to me complimented me on his speaking! and I thought he did a great job too.  FYI, my dad has a pretty important job in the field I work in, and is well known (just in this particular field, not to the general public).

I may skip the gym tonight and actually go to a union meeting.  If I do, I'll walk to the meeting from my apt, since i'm really close.  It's a ten minute walk both one way and going there is slightly up a very small incline at the end. It's mostly flat, yet, i'm in Queens. But, just not feeling like being up late and stuff. Needing my rest this week.  So, yeah, gonna skip the gym I think & go to the meeting...It's at 6pm and ends at 7pm.  What I really wanted to do was go to the gym - but I think I need a small break this week...but, I don't really want to go to the meeting, I should get my ass$s to the gym....not sure...conflicted.

Early breakfast at 6:15am: butternut squash souflee 120 with peanut butter 200. 320, yum.

Late Breakfast: egg on a potato hamburger bun toasted with light spray and also extra butter melted on roll. 330.

total: 650 or so and so tasty...

1200 after lunch, extra fats and balanced, sorta low on protein. lots of grilled peppers from supermarket deli...

 1400 before dinner.

Calories for the day are somewhere between 2050-2200.

exercise was a 10 min walk to the meeting.  had a healthy dinner with dad. 

tomorrow i'll still be taking a break from PT. extra night off...and then Thursday I should be revitalized a bit and ready to go back to the gym.  This week it was smart to take time off from my gym / PT activities after work.  I needed the rest.

It will not be a low cal type of week. a healthy week. need it for me - my boss isn't here and I need to do things to feel better in general and keep my health improving. no PT tonight, taking a night off again and opting for a healthy dinner at home and early bedtime.  I need to schedule my evenings at home during the week better. The way they are now isn't working. I need to be able to get more sleep and be more rested come Fridays / weekends.  Will work on this...by trying to get to bed earlier, maybe in bed before 9. trying.

Good Morning DDers!

Once again, I was able to sleep in today and get around 8 hours of sleep.  I did wake up during the night, but stuck to water and the bathroom and went online on my phone for a few minutes, but then found it pretty easy to fall back to sleep. Getting these 7-8 hours of sleep since Thursday night into Friday has been almost a record for me these 3 days Fri, Sat, Sun.  If I could keep going at this rate, I know i'd begin to feel even better, my skin would look better (still getting small breakouts regularly), etc. I will have to work on this.  Maybe change around my gym sessions or try to cut them shorter I think...I don't want to...but I may have to in order to feel better week to week and especially DURING Monday-Friday work weeks. Gotta think about it...

Today I was gonna wait till the late evening to go to the gym since I went last on Friday evening, but, i'm gonna try to push it - and go a bit earlier so I can be home tonight and not running around at dinner time.

8:30am: 2 sorta big plums 120., banana 120, wrap 80, peanut butter 200. 520.

11:00am Snack: peanut butter covered in chocolate bar. literally. 220.

750 or so., good. decided not to "diet" this weekend to the point of a calorie reduction.

11:45 - early, healthy lunch: leftovers from thai place - brown rice around 100, veggies in basil sauce around 100, and then leftover chicken and onions from my friend's fried rice - around 250...total: 450, good.

total so far: 1200, good & more importantly, healthy. lately craving carbs. I should eat more of them this week.

snacking: granola bar 150 and later a banana at gym. around 300.

and a chocolate after the gym 50.

1550.

dinner a bit bigger, but pretty balanced - extra veggies of course, some white rice, and a chicken wing and drumstick.

calories around 2150, my guess. maybe slightly more.

Good for you on the sleep! I think with the activity you do, you could probably up your carbs. Do you like new/red potatoes? They're going to stay with you longer than a russet would, for instance. And especially if you chill the red ones. Good for snacking. Banana is good too--just a thought!

I just noticed on a previous entry you ate a higher cal dinner and you slept well that night. Perhaps that's another thing to tweak.

Plan for today is probably only laundry and then my best friend is coming over around 3.  We'll go to a movie that starts at 4 and then to dinner. Simple day. Tomorrow, just food shopping & a trip to Rite Aid to pick up some cleaning supplies, and then gym in the early evening.

Happy Saturday :)  Once again, I got a good amount of sleep last night & without sleeping pills this time.  I woke up around 1am but just had some water and went to the bathroom and went back to sleep soon afterwards, thankfully!  I can tell my body needs it's rest & it will probably be easy for me to sleep normally the rest of the weekend as well and probably into Monday.  Additionally, I should have an easier time in general sleeping this week as I plan to leave work at 4:30pm everyday as my boss in on vacation.  This is not leaving early, I get there at 8am and take a half hour lunch instead of an hour.  I already do this on Tues / Thurs always, but now i'll do it everyday next week. :) And nobody should have a problem with it - as I am still GOING to work...only took off 3 days the whole summer (actually I've only used 3 days since April 1st)!

I have a total of 15 vaca / sick days to use April thru April.  I am proud of myself for sticking with my plan which is to save 10 of those days days (2 weeks) for the last two weeks of March 2016, right before my sister's wedding which is 4/2/16. I have TWO days left to use before then and i'm saving them for late, late February or maybe even March in addition to the 2 weeks (but probably will use them late Feb).  I am an all or nothing type person and I KNOW i'll be happiest when I can just relax a bit for awhile. And of course, it won't be total relaxation, as there will be things that need to be done leading up to the wedding!

The last time I had 2 weeks off in a row was Summer of 2010.  Next time for two weeks is March 2016.  So what's that, over 5.5 years?, that's why I know I need to save these days. The last time I had one full week off was last summer.  I couldn't do it this year, although I would have liked to. 

Of course I will get the standard national and union holidays from September thru March this year...and also I am very lucky, 3 additional extra days off in September for the Jewish Holidays...so...especially with 3 extra days in September, I will hold myself over with what the company gives this year (Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving & Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New years Day (I will have to work on NYE), President's Day, Martin Luther King Day...the major holidays) and then i'll rely on my mental  strength to carry me thru February (where I may take another day or so) and then March when I take my two weeks at the end of that month.  

Our Vaca / Sick days always start and renew April 1st so that's why I am saving the two vacation / sick weeks for end of March right before her wedding...and only using 5 days from this past April thru beginning of March this year! Not an easy feat, to only take of 5 days in 11 months, but i'm doing it!

And then next summer, I'll be taking at least one week off, if not 2, and then just have 5 remaining sick days to hopefully use around October - December, when I quit and join the NYPD in January 2017.  Still, I have a lot of healing to do on my lower legs / ankles - and a lot of fitness improvement needs to happen still.  I have a lot of work to do - but shouldn't get upset or nervous about this...I need to take it one day at a time..

I overheard the owner of my company saying he wants to take my dept on another trip into the field for a day - we'd go on a rented bus together & visit 2-3 job sites = LOTS OF WALKING. If I can, I may opt to try to stay in the office that day & not go on the trip.  The past 2 summers / fall that we had a trip like this, I had the leg tendonitis and every time I went on those trips, I came back more injured and it took longer for the thing to heal. So now, with my ankle weak & with tendonitis, i'm gonna have to just say no - or - go on the trip & stay on the bus...once the ankle becomes a problem...trust me...this is not how i'd like this all to go - but - I need to make choices which help me and not make my healing progress even harder & slower. 

Tendonitis has been a nightmare for me all the way since February 2013 and now...I am being smarter and smarter as I've also matured and been living on my own since March 2013.  I know I need more rest at times and more relaxation in order to be able to keep on my schedule of work and healing and gym.  Sometimes it means not hanging out with friends and family as much if what I really need to do is be home and relax a day or so on the weekend. It is what it is, this is my life & I need to work with it.

Breakfast so far: 2 sorta big plums 100, collagen bar & protein bar 400. 500 total.

11:30 fruit 90

12pm chips and vitamin water 110

700 :)...

1pm granola bar 150..

3:15pm: banana 120, wrap 80, pb 200...400 :)

1250 :)

goal is approx. 1500 cal today.

Could be as much as 2250. Opted for a higher fat and higher calorie dinner.

Yay for sleeping in! Fell asleep sometime after 2 and got up around 10.  I took a sleeping pill around 1am and it helped me to keep sleeping thru the morning. I know I can't rely on them, it's best to sleep naturally, but they've really helped me this past week to get better sleep. My skin is better also because of it!

Glad to have this day off and just relax. Only unfortunate thing is my left leg / ankle are tight of course from the extra walking yesterday. It's upsetting, but i'll try not to think about it too much and just relax today.  I'll be doing a weights routine later today... :)  I'd like to do it now but I figure I should relax just a hair more, then go to the gym...

10:30am Breakfast: 2 sorta big plums 120, chips 200, full fat greek yogurt with sf jelly 200. total: 520.

1:15pm: high fat chocolate collagen protein bar and 1/2 cup coconut water 250.

total: 770, good..

Bar 170, banana 130, drink 20 320 1100...good. Wanted low calories today but now not so sure. 1250 one more banana during long workout

dinner: chips 330, lots of veggies in basil sauce with tofu 400 = around 750

2000....really...I should plan for a low cal day this weekend. maybe Sunday.

the concert was great! :) at the end, he was playing all his major hits at the encore...last 30 min?!...and everyone was standing and dancing...lol...I stayed seated as my ankle bothered me but luckily I could still see the performance that way! :)

Really excited about my day. I am working from 8am-2pm then leaving to drive home and get organized for a concert tonight at Madison Square Garden in NYC. I will park near my place by the bus stop and leave by bus around 3:30 -4pm which takes me subway to take a couple trains (gotta transfer) into Penn Station to meet my friend around 5:30.
 We are having a laid-back dinner at 6pm right across the street at a café near MSG and then heading into MSG for the Billy Joel concert at 8pm. I am most excited to relax and take the good music in. I was a musician in the past & I am really looking forward to enjoying this Billy Joel concert with my best female friend!  
I am proud of myself for coming into work and getting it all done and not wasting a vacation day! I will get home prob around 12:30am-1:30am from this and def gonna sleep in tomorrow Friday. I have been taking sleeping pills almost every night since Sunday night to help me out…and I may have to take one if I wake up too early on Friday after all this….looking to have a very relaxed day Friday as I need to rest up my ankle and leg and just relax.
 I also plan to have a low calorie day Friday – 1200 cal is the plan. And as for the weekend, that’s sorta my plan as well – but I’ll be taking it day by day and this could change. Hoping for a beach day if the weather changes at all…seems like rain Friday thru Sunday this weekend. I don’t mind !

Concert was great! Prob ate around 2250 hopefully not more. Home a hair after 1am...glad to sleep in tomorrow!!

I knew it would be a hard week...just upset about my ankle / leg being tight. maybe i'm just being a baby and maybe after getting more sleep i'll feel better..
