Horn_Of_Plenty - Tuesday Feb 12, 2008

Weight: 127.0

I just looked and see I have 17 lbs to loose! That is NOT much! It really isn't...can i consider it done? What if I say I'm happy about today and ready for all the days ahead, whatever they bring? lol. i'm still on the ball.

edit: 2555 cal.

binge. cookie temptations...its ok.

I may have been slightly bingy after work, but I am not even interested in eating anything unhealthy. I've decided to stay home all evening, no yoga. I could have volunteered/did yoga but I just want to study. Of course, I will try to get in a 1/2 hour walk and will try NOT to binge. I have no intentions on binging.

It's snowing! LOL. It was so warm this winter until yesterday, i forgot we actually can get snow here on Long Island! hahaha!

Have a good evening everyone.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

workingit2 on 02/12/2008:
Enjoy your study time! We are getting a bunch of snow right now. Have a great night =)

mmuraro on 02/12/2008:
Snow is so pretty! I'm from Brazil and leave in Atlanta now, which means I hardly ever see any! Enjoy.

kkaahh11 on 02/12/2008:
Its snowing here tooooo. im from jersey =) hopefully SNOWDAY TOMORROW SO NO SCHOOL!!

thinnsidenotout on 02/12/2008:
Not snowing here (WA.St.) but on my walk, suddenly it started blowing fierce wind and the air turned frigid cold...probably blowing in a storm... Bummer!

You are doing better with your positive thoughts as far as eating healthier/not binging...Good to hear...Keep it up!

mmuraro on 02/12/2008:
Hmm, my calories change everyday too. I usually go from the 1200s to 1700, then 1400, etc. But not planned either, just according to what I eat or how my day is like. I don't go over 2000, besides that bad sunday night, when i did 2300, which is not totally terrible. I haven't been exercising enough, especially since I have been having a fever the last 4 days, but still, i should have a calorie deficit more than enough to lose weight, so the plateau annoys me a good bit... sigh... Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to exercise. Thanks!

kkaahh11 on 02/13/2008:
yessss i have a snowday!

Horn_Of_Plenty - Monday Feb 11, 2008

Weight: 129.0

Night entry:

I'm still debating about exercising before breakfast... 20min is so little though...so i should definitely be able to exercise before i eat, right? I'd eat right after.

although i felt fat and totally out of my usual yoga practice while there, it was worth it. I may actually skip volunteering (and possibly volunteer extra on my week off) to go to yoga tomorrow because right now I feel that I need to do yoga for about 2 weeks straight to really fuel my weightloss so i can feel as good as possible when i go back to work. I do have work this week, but I don't have a test in my class on Sunday, so I DON'T want to sit home when i can be at yoga. make sense? does to me!

I basically want to do things for me, since these past two weeks i spent laying down in bed studying and not exercising, so I'm going to take advantage of that for these TWO weeks. ok, enough of that!

calories: Good! 1550. Happy about that for sure.

exercise: 1.5 hours.

total ex: 8hrs, 5min. I have a lot more yet to do that's for sure!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

afternoon entry:

so far...today is good and i'm forcing myself to go to yoga even though i feel a little on the too full side and because i've gained a couple and don't feel like looking at myself in the mirror. despite these things, I will try to get a 20 min walk in each morning because I noticed i was really tired at work today since i had not taken an early morning walk. so, 20 min walk, then breakfast! that's my new plan.

Progress as of today: -2 lbs lost so far, only 19 lbs to go!

rlovell on 02/11/2008:
good job. the more yoga the do, the more centered and in touch with your body you will be. you will find that you will love yourself even more- even if you think you will hate your mirror image.

thinnsidenotout on 02/11/2008:
Yay!!!!! your doing super.....RE: Packaged food Sunday....YES! that salad was a welcome part of my day.... I enjoyed every single bite!

kkaahh11 on 02/11/2008:
a morning walk sounds fantastic...i wish i could get up earlier but i dont think that will be happening

greengirl on 02/11/2008:
The new plan sounds good HoP :)

rlovell on 02/11/2008:
ps- edamame is the secret! it is the ONLY legume that is its own succint form of protein. So much fiber, protein and goodness...and low cal. the best part is that you have to pop it into your mouth which slows you down and not nearly as fattening or dense as nuts. i sometimes buy different flavors of fancy sea salts and treat myself as if i were in a high-class sushi bar. YUM.

mmuraro on 02/11/2008:
rlovell and I were competing at lunch to see who had the biggest pile of empty pods. :) as for the tanning, i think if you go and do it for 8 or 10 minutes tops (depending on the color of your skin and dont forget to wear sunblock) it's not really bad for you. but the best is to sit outside when it's sunny, even if you don't tan, but just get some sun on your face and body.

CharlieAngel on 02/11/2008:
Sunlight is a good source of Vitamin D...just thought I'd mention that. A 20 minute walk in the morning is great...it gets your engine running. I take Chica for about a 20 minute walk every morning before I go to work. I eat once I get to work, around 7:30. I have to say that I really admire your ability to do Yoga. I have found that Yoga is HARD and very effective. Take care of yourself and enjoy the next two weeks. Blessings!

mmuraro on 02/11/2008:
If you can, keep the 20 min walk in the morning, even though it doesnt sound a lot of calories burned, it's great to kick start your metabolism and give you energy for the day! Good for you about yoga! Keep up and buy edamame. haha.

mcwoo40 on 02/12/2008:
Hiya, they say you should exercise before breakfast as it burns more fat??I think it does set you up for the day mentally, gets your endorphins going.Keep going,Julie

borntocry on 02/12/2008:
Many people exercise before breakfast. Personally, I find it hard. I've done it a few times but generally I had eaten a lot the night before. If that's not the case, I prefer to have a small snack before. There are these mini-powerbars which are half the size of normal ones. Have you seen them? Those make a great pre-workout snack because they are too small to weigh on your stomach, even if you eat them right before you workout. Or you could even suck on a small sweet or something. This is really the only time sugar is just what you need - when you need a quick energy boost but don't want to fill up your tummy!

mylifechanges on 02/12/2008:
thanks for your comment. I do try to take time for myself and am glad that you are also making that a priority in your life. I'm always the nurturer in my group of friends, so that's not something that comes easily to me, but I've realized in the past few years how badly my life spirals out of control when I'm trying to meet everyone else's needs while neglecting my own. This time is MINE so I'm trying my best to prove faithful in it! :) You sound like you're doing great and I'm proud of all of your hard work with yoga! Keep it up! :)

CritterMom on 02/12/2008:
I usually have some plain yogurt or a small handful of nuts before I exercise...but NOT a whole meal. Just can't consume, then work out. :)

legcramps on 02/12/2008:
You're doing great! Keep it up! :)

crategrl on 02/12/2008:
Great job!

Horn_Of_Plenty - Sunday Feb 10, 2008

Weight: 129.0

HAHAHA!

I didn't get to go to yoga as planned, BUT, I have a GREAT reason why. My Sunday anatomy and physiology class actually ended on time, 3pm, instead of early. Yoga starts at 3...so I obviously couldn't get there if class just ended! Oh well! I will be enjoying yoga this week every day, except Tuesday, when I will be volunteering at the hospital. I'm doing well in the class, but its definitely a TON of memorizing! We don't have class next week, but I really shouldn't slack on studying or I will be up a creek without a paddle, as they say! :)

So far, 10 min exercise in the morning. I'm going to walk on the treadmill...nah, I'm going outside depsite the cold! I don't like the treadmill because I'm less motivated to go far distances than if i were outside. I ended up cleaning the bathroom and doing some laundry. I will do the rest tomorrow and I might even begin studying tonight. I am eager NOT to wait until the last minute on everything.

calories so far are good although eating a whole jar of sugar free blueberry preserves isn't the healthiest 150 calories, lol. I did do that today.

calories: 1350-1400 depending. it's a good day.

exercise: 40

total FEB exercise: 6hrs, 35 min.

I plan to comment on diaries during/after dinner!

Progress as of today: -2 lbs lost so far, only 19 lbs to go!

kkaahh11 on 02/10/2008:
hello. Im kait and im the same height as u and we have the same goal weight. im new to this whole diet diaries and just finished reading a few of your past diaries. i didnt read a lot probably only 3 ha, but since we have the same goal weight and are the same height i though it was interesting. good luck tomorrow.

kkaahh11 on 02/10/2008:
thanks for the comment. i have no intention AT ALL of making myself throw up, but i know thats what a lot of people probably think a person in high school would do. I cant wait to be healthier again =)

mmuraro on 02/10/2008:
Calories are good today. It's okay to snack on whatever you want during your day if it's only 150 cal, no worries. Make up for it with some bird food later. ahahaha.

thinnsidenotout on 02/10/2008:
You got started on exercise at least....I hope you got to enjoy a walk that helped clear the "cobwebs" out and refreshed your brain to study & retain information with ease....

shadetree on 02/10/2008:
Glad you're doing well in class. I figured you wouldn't have any problems, but yes, it is a TON of information to remember. (My son actually has the A&P coloring book thing - I'm sure you know what I'm talking about...)

Now did you eat these preserves WITH something or just straight out of the jar? I just can't imagine eating a whole jar on its own...But then some people couldn't imagine eating ice cream cake for dinner, huh?

Have a good evening and enjoy your break!

rlovell on 02/10/2008:
hope you had a great weekend. at least the binges seem under control! i know how hard it is...xo

maria777 on 02/10/2008:
Your calories sound fantastic!!! Also your exercise! Keep up the good work!

mmuraro on 02/10/2008:
Hey, how did you do your zig zagging?

mylifechanges on 02/11/2008:
Hey HoPpers! :) (Sorry, I always have way too much fun with your name!) So I'm wondering if you ever sleep, because you're about one of the busiest people I "know". :) Are you still teaching in addition to taking classes/volunteering? Crazy! :) Sounds like you had a good day despite yoga, so keep up the great work! You get a break soon, right?

kyrin on 02/11/2008:
What type of yoga classes do you go to? I know there are different styles...and have tried a few. I like holding and flowing into some of the poses; but, am still a bit fuzzy about the styles.

borntocry on 02/11/2008:
Hi HoP! Well, you seem to be doing much better! And you seem so much happier, too, as a result. So keep it up!

Thanks for your comment. Funny you should ask about working out on my lunch break, because for years, I couldn't imagine ever having enough energy to do that. I don't start work as early as you, but I don't have breakfast, and I guess I'm just more of a "night owl" anyway, so I would much rather sit at my desk surfing the Internet (plus the only time I can use the Internet at work is on my lunch break) and munching on a protein bar. But then I have to work out in the evening and I can always find some excuse to blow it off. So I started motivating myself to go running on my lunch break using two methods. Firstly, I started trying to think of it as a break from work. Before, when I stayed at my desk, people's 'phones were always ringing and people would come in and out asking for my co-workers or asking me work-related questions, so it wasn't a real break. Secondly, I stopped bringing protein bars with me to work! So now, I have to go out to get food, so I might as well run a couple of miles in the process!

Horn_Of_Plenty - Saturday Feb 09, 2008

hmmm. 3200 cal. ok. i'm gonna break through despite...

exercise: 50 min.

5hrs, 55 min total exercise.

I will go to yoga tomorrow, no matter how fat or tired i feel...

next week is the last week before break...and on break i will fully get back to fitness for sure...and this week too.

Progress as of today: -2 lbs lost so far, only 19 lbs to go!

yaz on 02/09/2008:
yay yoga!!

mylifechanges on 02/09/2008:
hey, at least you got your exercise in today! And yay for yoga tomorrow! You can do this- stay focused!

mmuraro on 02/09/2008:
Yoga either way is a great plan!

mmuraro on 02/09/2008:
You're right, I am totally guilty. But I had my sister and nephew in town from brazil this weekend and I had meals out with them i wouldn't otherwise (i ate mexican yesterday, yuck!!!). And the grilled cheese on my defense was with whole wheat low cal bread and low fat cheese. But thanks, I DO need to watch on the carbs and increase protein. Plus I didn't work out today, as I planned to, since I got a fever and sore throat... :(

thinnsidenotout on 02/09/2008:
You have to start somewhere....and it sounds like your break coming soon will help you get back into focus and STICK WITH IT when things are back in session....Stresses are dealt with in so many ways...eating/binging is just one of the worst. It is a mental killer as well as a physical health issue. You constantly beat yourself up and then you feel worse and then you eat, then you start all over beating yourself up to the tune of eating again, cause you feel like you already messed up, so might as well keep going, til you just can't eat anymore....Then Remorse and promises that you'll not be that way the next day!!!!!! I really do hope you can get a cap on things and be as your heart desires....You WILL feel better

workingit2 on 02/10/2008:
Congrats on the exercise!

greengirl on 02/10/2008:
Enjoy the yoga, HoP. Your comments are a great source of inspiration to me :O)

legcramps on 02/10/2008:
I'm in for another challenge with you on hours this month, even though i'm off to a terrible start! Hope you're doing well, it sounds like you are - I have a lot of catching up to do! Take care!

Horn_Of_Plenty - Friday Feb 08, 2008

Weight: 129.0

Saturday:

7am small morning binge plus another binge at 10am= 2370 cal so far.

Friday:

I just did an average/estimate and have realized that over the past 30 days, I have binged one out of every 3 days, or 33%! Wow, i guess i can say this can be improved. For every day I don't binge in one week, I will give myself something special on the weekend...even if it's something small!

It's so hard to get back on track for the long run and realize that i can be successful at weightloss if i want to be!

2140 cal.

tot ex: 5hrs, 5min slacking!

yesterday: 4000 cal and no exercise.

today: slight binge in AM. so far, 1515 cal before dinner. I will not stick with cals in the 1500s today. I just don't care and cannot deprive myself. I kind of like workingit's advice to raise my calories even on dieting days. I think I may start to eat cals only as low as in the 1600s. we'll see. I have so much calories to balance out from 2 weeks of binging practically everyday! It's a challenge right now for me.

exercise: so far 30 min walk. I'm taking a short break from yoga and am still deciding based on how many terms i memorize tonight if i will be able to go to yoga tomorrow morning! :) hopefully...but i won't be too upset if i can't make it.

have a good weekend.

Progress as of today: -2 lbs lost so far, only 19 lbs to go!

mmuraro on 02/08/2008:
hey, yeah, just raise your calories in the diet. maybe 1500 is just nto enough for you and you deprive yourself too much and end up eating more. try that. and don't try to make up for the high calories days, just start being good from now on, past is in the past! :)

workingit2 on 02/09/2008:
I think rewarding yourself for accomplishing your goals is a great idea! Have a great day!

Donkey on 02/09/2008:
STOP IT!!!!! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!!!! GET OUT OF THE HOUSE OR DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE WITH YOUR TIME OTHER THAN EATING!!!!

thinnsidenotout on 02/09/2008:
{*;*}....You need to find a very time consuming hobby, other than obsessing about food.... Healthy choices!!!!!

Horn_Of_Plenty - Thursday Feb 07, 2008

Weight: 127.0

edit: almonds, pb, bread binge at 10:30pm. total cal: 4000

calories: 2500. yeah. that's what i get for not going to yoga!!! sadly, I know i will regret the binging on the weekend and next week when all the extra calories finally catch up with me in pounds!

exercise: none so far...

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

workingit2 on 02/07/2008:
Maybe you should be eating a higher number of calories and not go below 1600 or something? Just because you do an awful lot of activity and I'm sure you are on your feet all day, plus all that studying and if you stay up late. It all takes energy and if you aren't getting enough, your body will force you to get enough. You had one day between the last binge and this set and this is your third day on the binge..maybe take your average calories over the past few days and find a number somewhere inbetween that isn't too low or too high?

Well, I'm not one to talk about what works and what doesn't..sitting her trying to lose my extra thirty pounds lol. Whatever you do...HANG IN THERE!!!

thinnsidenotout on 02/07/2008:
hmmmm....Sounds like something is "eating" at you, as well as you eating everything you don't want to.... Sorry to hear that you feel the need to binge. After having a good day and feeling achieved...Remember how good that felt to make it that day...Have some faith in yourself!

mcwoo40 on 02/08/2008:
Hiya,I've had a mini binging two days, now i feel c-ap!!back to it before i go down that slippery slope again.have a great weekend,Julie

CritterMom on 02/08/2008:
Do your yoga, THEN study. I think yoga really tends to get you centered and in "the right place" to absorb more information from studying.

I think the others were right on when they advised making your calories a bit higher, at least on days when you're on your feet a lot, or very active. Also, take a good look at WHAT you're binging on. There must be some nutrient you're needing from those foods that your body needs. Protein from the nuts? Make sure what you're consuming is balanced, and that you're taking a good multivitamin, too.

contessa on 02/08/2008:
Oh gosh, I am so sorry about that binge! I used to do that as well, and I am well aware of how difficult it can be to control...but why bread? I mean, I used to do it with Ben & Jerry's...it seemed much more "exciting" lol. Just hang in there, I hope you are able to laugh at yourself though this process like I laugh at myself!

Horn_Of_Plenty - Wednesday Feb 06, 2008

Weight: 127.0

shoot 3450 cal....NO exercise!I really didn't study that much at all so perhaps NOT doing yoga is actually NOT helping me study more!!!

I had 700 calories until 3:30pm. Then I had a huge smoothie with some cottage cheese as well and then 1 tablepoon pb and this drink. So far, calories are 1180.

I'm having trouble fitting yoga in and also having enough time studying. If i do that, I cannot really relax at all...lol, yoga is a workout and that is not what i consider relaxing/going online/commenting/checking up on things. so, I'll have to limit yoga. I'm almost ready to aim for just 3X Week yoga instead of 4X! We'll see... On my school break in a couple weeks i'll try to fit in a few more sessions.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

mmuraro on 02/06/2008:
Hey, good for you about the career change, you're young and have time to figure things out and start doing something you like best! I'm glad you also updated and is starting to use the chart. 1580 is a great day. And you put in some stuff you wanted to it this afternoon. Good for you!

shadetree on 02/06/2008:
I had a not so good day myself - I was hungry, nothing good in the cafeteria, no one delivering due to the snow, so it was a vending machine kind of day...I'm not even going to worry about it though...

Hope you have a good evening and the voices let you study :)

thinnsidenotout on 02/06/2008:
Look forward to your break..It will be here sooner than you think... Hang in there!

workingit2 on 02/06/2008:
Get some natural peanut butter...I promise you, you won't want to binge on it LOL Have a great night!

iwant2bthin on 02/06/2008:
Have a great night, tomorrow will be even better! :) You're break will be here soon!

leeumom on 02/06/2008:
I've heard that before about yoga. At our Tops (take off pounds sensibly) meeting tommorrow night someone is going to do a presentation on it. I'm looking forward to hearing about it. Your break will be here before you know it. Enjoy.

mmuraro on 02/07/2008:
Yoga is a workout and also calms you down. I think maybe if you try to just go, you'll be less prone to snacking and also you might even find more time for everything. Sometimes I am like this. The more I do the more I can find time to do, weird, but worth a try!

TheMother on 02/07/2008:
I guess the studying has to take precedence over the yoga but soon you'll have a school break and can fit some in then. Thanks for your comments on my journal. I appreciate your insight. Have a GOOD day! TM

Horn_Of_Plenty - Tuesday Feb 05, 2008

Weight: 127.0

overall calories: 2250. oops. I chose to have some ice cream, almonds, pineapple sweetened cottage cheese after dinner. It's all good.

____________________________________________

Today is going well...I did have lots of (good) carbs after school: Two large apples, Kombucha tea, and a banana. total about 400 cal. At least it was really healthy, despite some extra sugars.

Calories so far: 1050 before dinner. I'll eat about 400 for dinner, maybe more. I'm being lenient tonight. It's gonna be a long one. I will walk on the treadmill NO MORE than a 1/2 hour. watch tv/study. I need some tv on when i study sometimes. haha. good distraction.

exercise: none

today at school I saw really poor behavior from a lot of the kids. Made my day much more challenging, especially bc there were a lot of subs working with me. Some kids took advantage! :( Oh well...better NOT get stressed about it. LOL, i should have laughed it off even more!!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

mmuraro on 02/05/2008:
Hey, good deal on the healthy carbs. You can have a good dinner and a good total cal overall. So are you a teacher?

thinnsidenotout on 02/05/2008:
Too bad you had to deal with disrespectful students...Makes it hard on the ones that really want to learn... Tomorrow will be better..Keep up the good work!

hollybelle on 02/05/2008:
Kids! I don't know how the teachers do it, really! Good day you had. YAY!

workingit2 on 02/05/2008:
Kids get away with so much poor behavior at home anymore, it is shameful. You reminded me that I need some bananas! lol have a great evening =)

shadetree on 02/06/2008:
My stepmother is retiring this year - she was my oldest brother's fourth grade teacher, and he will be 45 next month. I really don't know how she's done it all these years!

I always had to have the tv on when I studied too...My husband used to get irritated, couldn't understand how I could study with the noise - I used to tell him that it helps drown out the voices in my head. (I think that scared him a little, but he doesn't understand that what I meant was it distracts me just enough that I don't start thinking about all the other stuff I needed to get done etc...)

anyway, hope you have a great day!

mylifechanges on 02/06/2008:
Hi friend! Just checking in with you. It's been so long- and I feel terrible! I'm glad to see that you're still kicking! I'm sorry that you're having a hard time with your kids at school. I always find that frustrating as well, but you're right- it's easier to laugh your way through it. :) Have a wonderful day!

harleygirl79 on 02/06/2008:
God Bless ya for what you do. We had 2 teachers assaulted here in Cleveland over the last month. One had his neck broken and has taught at the school for 30 years. He wants to go back. I believe teachers are an extrordinary breed.

rae_regenbogen on 02/06/2008:
I always like having the t.v on when I study too. I can't focus when the room is too quiet, but music with lyrics is too distracting. Television or instrumental music always seems to help! :)

borntocry on 02/06/2008:
Hi HoP! Glad to see things are going a little better for you, despite the kids causing you trouble. My best friend is also a teacher, and I must say, I don't know how you guys do it! I'd be running out of the classroom in tears every time, haha!

Thanks for your comment. You know me too well! Cooking is exactly what I did do last night. It was productive, especially as everything I made turned out well, although my husband complained about the smell, kind of like your mom.

If you're interested, you can see a picture of that treacherous rye and honey "croissant" over here:

Goodnight.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

edit: I am off to yoga...then dinner and studying...then bed :) I am looking foward to a good evening and no binging. Today was a great day! :)

Today's calories: 1740, but I'm definitely counting today as a success. pretty balanced eating, too.

Today's exercise 1hr, 45 min.

Total FEB exercise: 4hrs, 35 min :)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I walk into this Monday morning with high hopes for today. I want it to be a success as well as the days following. Of course, in the back of my mind, I have my recent struggle and 4 day binge, but I really do want success long-term - and not just to make up for four lousy days.

I woke up pretty early because I went to bed early so I'm sipping on carbonated tea and I will take a brief 15 min walk on the treadmill soon. I am not going to push morning exercise because I get too hungry while at work.

CritterMom on 02/04/2008:
What is carbonated tea?

workingit2 on 02/04/2008:
Hope you are having a great day!

thinnsidenotout on 02/04/2008:
Keep thinking positive and your outlook will be....Forget about the days gone by. Can't change them...Move On! Glad to hear you are making a concious effort to make that change...

shadetree on 02/04/2008:
Have fun at yoga! So glad to see you getting back into it! Glad you're having a great day!

mmuraro on 02/04/2008:
Yes, that decision about today and the days to follow is the most important thing. Also, I am all for having a treat when you want to, even it's fatty, but one serving. Then you don't let your craves add up. Have a great night!

Donkey on 02/04/2008:
It sounds like it went well for you today! Good for you!!!! Maybe we can get in sync now, with both of us having good days at the same time.

leeumom on 02/05/2008:
How are you doing weight wise? Don't see the current weight. My Kopsman does the grocery shopping and he gets individual items to take to work. Then I feel like I get alot. Might be a lean small entree, yogurt (low calorie), small fruit, box of rasins, granola bar and lots of water. It is fun going thru frig and pantry to see what to grab. Makes it less for decisions also. Keep up the positive attitude. You can do it. Drink lots of water!!!!! guzzle!!!!!!!

so_devine on 02/05/2008:
hi how are you, i am a student and understand what you mean about the studying, it can be stressfull but am happy to hear you are doing well. hope your having a great day x :-D

TheMother on 02/05/2008:

RE: chili flop....my chili was great...it was the cornbread that flopped. For I had used ground oatmeal in place of flour and didn't compensate enough of something else to make it turn out right...

Afternoon entry:

calories so far are 880. NO need to go back for more because i just had a satisfying meal! I wanted to do yoga but i am still feeling the effects of ingesting too many sugar free candies so i cannot go today. I will walk at the park though. I plan to walk 4miles. come home, relax, study, go to bed early so I can have a positive start to the week and make it a good one.

mcwoo40 on 02/03/2008:
Hiya,Be careful of those sugar free sweets. The ones we get over here say on the packet if you have too many they are a form of laxative. It's great to have a good healthy meal iside of you is'nt it.Now stay clear of the kitchen!!Julie

workingit2 on 02/03/2008:

RE: water consumption- I have always heard that any form of drink is considered to have some water in it, but consider the rest of the recipe, especially sodium (depletes any positive effect of the water).I think that tea (basically flavored pure water) would be condideration for being a pure water source and be able to be counted as 100%, but do your research and don't depend upon me for that to be the honest truth..... I really pay attention to the color & smell of my urine (sorry everybody, but it is true) and that helps me know if I am getting plenty of what my body needs...Now, I do take"VITAMINS/HERBS", and the color/smell is effected by that sometimes... especially "B" vitamins...

Truthfully, I have found that I am drinking about 96-120 oz. of pure water a day. That is well water, not city/county provided..I have told myself, if I could down 64 oz. of diet pepsi a day (yes, that is what I would sometimes consume prior to 2 weeks ago), I could at least consume that or much more of water... I love water and that is not the case with most people. I sometimes do put a glass with 1/2 ice, lemon slice, then the rest ice...fill the glass with water and it has a refreshing tweek on plain water...

thinnsidenotout on 02/03/2008:
RE: Water consumption: I forgot something..... You asked if I find it hard to get the water in while I am at home... I am a 13 year, stay-at-home mom/babysitter, so I don't know any different- hoping to change that within the next couple years, getting a job... When I do get out of the house... I have been keeping bottled (recycled H2O bottles)water out on the front doorstep and I grab one on my way to the car. The weather here has been freezing every day, so I put the bottle on the dash of the car, the defroster does the rest and I have my ICE cold H2O to nurse on...

mmuraro on 02/03/2008:
Good to see you're feeling better! 880 is too little though, make sure you have a nice dinner!

shadetree on 02/03/2008:
Hey HoP! Sounds like you are doing much better today. RE: your question, my son just turned 13. This is my second year homeschooling - he was in the public school, they moved him up a grade in fourth grade, but he was still bored to tears. That coupled with social issues (since he is younger and smaller, he naturally gets picked on) and things like the kid inthe classroom next to his bringing a loaded gun to school and pointing it at someone for 'stealing his girlfriend' (a sixth grader!) I had enough. So I homeschool, which is a challenge when I work fulltime and then some! My husband is a stay-at-home dad, so homework/reports/projects and whatnot are done during the day when I'm at work, and instruction takes place at night, early mornings or on weekends. Luckily, my son is very intelligent and history, science, geography, economics, music (he's learning the guitar) he can pretty much do independent study - he has a schedule to stick with and he gets it done, understands it all. The only things needing instruction for the most part are algebra and spanish. So I suppose it could be worse! just glad I don't have to teach other people's kids! And to think at one time I wanted to be a teacher - I just don't have the patience! My hat goes off to all educators!

workingit2 on 02/03/2008:
Congratulations, HOP! =)

mmuraro on 02/03/2008:
Awesome. Congrats!

CritterMom on 02/04/2008:
Glad to hear the binge is over. Good job on the exercise!
