I'm happy to say that I didn't eat any chips yesturday, YAY!!! Thanks for all of the comments regarding my chip addiction!! I don't ever buy chips when I'm in the grocery store or when I stop at a store. I'm very aware that I do best when they are not in my house. The problem is that my husband is always buying them for himself and the kids. Not only does he buy them but when they are on sale he'll buy 3 large bags!! My son has the same favourite flavours as myself so that makes it super hard to resist! Last week when Kirt stopped at the store to grab a few things he bought not 1 cannister of pringles but an entire case full of pringles!!! I keep telling him that I want to just buy them for the kids on the week-end as a treat!! Also whenever my Mom comes over wich is often she brings them for the kids. When she came last week-end she brought 3 bags incase the kids wanted a snack!! I don't think my kids need to have them all of the time either, I really need to get my husband on the same page as me with this. I want my children to eat healthy also.

I'm hoping I'll make it to the gym today but I have to wait and see what time Kirt has to work until. Taylor has tap class tonight so I'll have to wait and see if I can work it in.

Kirt has to work later than expected so I'm only going to get to the gym for a very short visit. I'm planning to do some exercises at home before I go and I'll just do a little cardio and the weight circuit at the gym.

Okay, so I didn't make it to the gym after all. There just wasn't time once Kirt made it home. I managed to get my exercise in at home, I hope to make it to the gym tomorrow!!

I'm going to try to get to some of your diaries today! Have a good one everybody, I'll check in later!!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 12.5 lbs to go!

Donkey on 03/07/2007:
I don't know if this is practical for you, but when I have a "problem food" in my house, such as chips, cookies, bags of candy, I put them in the trunk of my car. Out of sight, out of mind. And if I do decide to cave in, it takes a considerable amount of effort to retrieve the food. If you can, try it and see if it works for you.

sweetpea1977 on 03/07/2007:
Good for you on leaving those chips alone. You should try to challenge yourself to see how many days you can go without. Maybe you will build up such a nice record that you dont want to tarnish ever again. :o)

Seriously though, you and your husband need to talk about it. He needs to realize that those chips are hurting your good efforts. He also needs to understand that chips are nothing but empty calories and will do nothing to make the children grow up big and strong. I hope there is some way you guys can come to a compromise on this before it escalates to something worse.

Thanks for the heads up on the bowflex. You might have saved me some money in the future!

I hope you guys have better luck than I did on our lottery. I just found out that one of the winners of our lottery lives about an hour north of me! So close!!!!!

borntocry on 03/07/2007:
Buying stuff in such huge quantities is also a problem. I love Pringles but we only get one can at a time. That way I feel guilty about eating too many because then there's none left for my husband. If you have a whole case in the house then of course you won't have that thought in mind. I understand it is cheaper to buy in bulk but if this is the price one has to pay for one's health and figure, it's worth it, isn't it?

greengirl on 03/07/2007:
I am sure that they add something to pringles to make them addictive. I love them too although crisps (chips) dont attract me in general. Surely your hubby wants you to be healthy. Perhaps a discussion with him is in order. I dont know what you can do about your mother though. I could never talk sense into my mum or mum-in-law where treats for the kids were the topic!!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/07/2007:
you are doing great! I highly recommend some veggies in with all those healthy things you ate!

WorkingIt2 on 03/07/2007:
Yay on the chips! You know, it is entirely possible that you aren't getting enough electrolytes in your system because of all the exercise you do..and this means you depleat a LOT of salt and potassium...I did the same thing and started craving chips and massive amounts of salty foods until the doctor told me to drink gatorade before working out. I did, what a difference! Have a great day!

sandrella on 03/07/2007:
Way to go on leaving the chips alone! Bad hubby for bringing them in the house! I'm glad you're getting in some gym time this evening...sounds like a great work out! I hope you have a great evening! :)

Donkey on 03/07/2007:
I'm happy to say that my car trunk trick worked for you. It will definitely get your point across if nothing else. You are really so inspiring! When did you lose that half pound to get you down to 122.5? I must have missed that. WOW!

justgonnadoit on 03/07/2007:
Good Job on the chips! I used to have this addiction to peanuts like you wouldn't beleive! Oh I could'nt get enough of them, Used to roast them myself! keep on keeping on, I understand about the family getting on your same page, I have the same thing going on as well. Take care!

(Counting Calories & Exercise)
Weight: 122.5

Yesturdays total calories were 1707.

Water was great yesturday, I had 12, 8 oz glasses.

Exercise: Rode my bike for 95 min (795 cals), 160 lundges (80/leg), 30 pulsing squats, 90 reg squats, 200 kick backs (100/leg), 100 side kicks (50/leg) and 100 butt lifts. (208 cals)

Total calories burned yesturday through exercise were 1004.

__________________________________________________________________________

Total Calories for today: 1434

Exercise for today: Cardio - 1400 step ups (50 min), 20 min "abs" pilate tape, 20 min buns & thigh pilates tape, 15 min of butt & thigh floor work (from another exercise tape). I would like to get another 40 min of cardio in tonight by riding my bike, if I have the energy for it after I get my kids to bed!! I did ended up riding my bike this evening for 45 min (379 cals)

Total Calories Burned through exercise: 937

Water: 14 glasses

I'm drinking alot of water since I've had this cold. I'm trying to flush it out of there but I also feel super thirsty all the time right now. I've also been eating alot of fruit (grapefruit, apples & grapes) that are juicy to help with the permanent feeling of being thirsty!! I've also been having a glass of 100% pure orange juice every morning which I don't typically drink. I don't dislike orange juice but I don't love it either.

Yesturday I was eating very healthy and having reasonable portions until I had a chip binge!! I don't really think it was so much of a binge but those chips are just so high in calories!!! I ate about 350 calories worth of chips. Chips are still my #1 enemy, besides the chips I'm doing really well with my will power with almost all of my other food choices. My girlfriend Tammy said after she stayed away from chips for a while they then tasted to salty and she didn't even enjoy them anymore. Will that ever happen for me?! Is there anything that can calm my cravings for salty chips!!! I am going to do my best to avoid the chips today, good luck to me!!

It is painfully cold out today!! Its -22 C (-7.6 F) but with the wind shield according to the weather network it "feels like" -33 C (-27 F) brrrrr!!! My son and I took Taylor to the bus this morning, it is soooo horribly cold!!

I wish I didn't have to go out there today but its Tuesday so Craig has swim class and then we will go to the library and possible go to lunch with my Mother in Law.

So far, I haven't had any chips today!! I just have to make it through the evening without my munchie temptation!!

I will check in with calories etc later.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 12.5 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 03/06/2007:
Wow, you really kicked butt in the exercise department!!

As for your chip addiction, I can relate. My addiction was all types of fast foods. The only way I got control over that addiction was forbiding myself to eat them at all. It was hard at first, because I was so dependent on that crap. But, my health took priority and I dealt with the cravings.

One way I dealt with them was by making healthier versions of my addiction - veggie burgers topped with crisp lettuce and tomatoes wrapped in a whole wheat bun; homemade baked sweet potato fries (much tastier than regular fries, by the way!), and a glass of ice cold Cherry Coke Zero/Diet Pepsi Jazz.

And now, every time I eat McDonalds or Burger King, I get sick. It doesnt taste nearly as good as I remember. However, I will say that I still like the occasional trip to Chick-fi-la and Arby's. I just practice restraint anytime I go there.

If you cant cut the potato chips out of your life, try searching for a way to make them yourself. Sweet potatoes make great chips/fries and are actually better for you than white potatoes. Or, try shopping for mini-bags of chips or those 100 calorie snack packs by Nabisco. Avoid the huge bags of chips at all costs, regardless if they are regular or baked.

Hope this helps!

Stay warm!!

sandrella on 03/06/2007:
Way to go on your exercise!! And man it is super cold there! I hope things warm up for you guys soon! Good luck overcoming your chip addiction! (my addiction is all things chocolate!) I know you can do it! :)

biscottibody59 on 03/06/2007:
Hey I missed your dip in the scale--woo-hoo! Keep up the good work!

For the salty--do you like dill pickles--that's usually a good alternative if I don't have any chips around. I can keep a can of Pringles Salt and Vinegar chips around for awhile, but a big bag of chips is a temptation I just can't handle--even with weighing them out--doesn't help!

Sacrifice2Day on 03/06/2007:
Have you checked chips made with plantains? They are really good and to my understanding alot better than a bag of lays...check them out if youre interested.

borntocry on 03/07/2007:
Maybe if you eat something salty BEFORE you eat the chips, you won't feel like them any more? Personally, I can't keep my favourite kinds of chips in the house, because once I get started, I just can't stop. I still get chips for my husband but I stick to his favourites (tortilla chips). I would certainly never let plantain chips or sweet potato chips into the house because he wouldn't touch those and I would devour them all on my own!

Thanks for your comment. I have never been a "girly girl", haha! I often wonder what I will do if I have a "girly girl" daughter. My niece is like that - she adores clothes and her whole room is pink and princess-themed!

leeumom on 03/07/2007:
Great job on the water!! You might try pills (vitamin C). I take 2- 1000 mg a day. I use to work with someone that would take 6000 to 7000mg a day. They say that it flushes right thru your system. But, that you won't get sick so much. Good luck.

(Counting Calories & Exercise)
Weight: 122.5

Total Calories for the day: 1449

Exercise: I went to the gym this morning!! I did the eliptical trainer for 60 min (618 cals), weight circuit doing mostly arm work for 45 min (293 cals), bike for 30 min (265 cals) and 15 min of "ab" exercises (98 cals)

Total Calories burned through exercise: 1272

Water: 12 glasses (6 at the gym)

Yesturday was a frustrating afternoon to say the least. My sister was unprepared and frazzled as soon as we got started with her wedding invitations. I get so frustrated by her lack of organization. She knew 2 weeks ago that we were going to need a definate list and addresses to get all of her invitations written out and mailed. I had all of our family and family friends addresses because I send out X-mas cards every year, my sister's soon to be "sister-in-law" had e-mailed us a list of their addresses on their side of the family and all my sister needed to do was collect about 10 of her personal friends addresses.

She hadn't completely decided on her list, she had it written out very messy with people scratched off and then added again etc, etc and she had only gotten 2 of her friends addresses!!! Then she gets herself so worked up because I need her to just tell me who is coming so I can actually write out the addresses and return addresses. She became all freaky and frazzled, yelling at everybody and crying, I just don't understand???!!! I realize she is very unorganized and doesn't handle even the slightest stressful situation well but I couldn't understand why she was so worked up! I never raised my voice with her and tried to calm her down so I could get the info I needed and just get it done but she couldn't seem to focus!! She ended up leaving (after hours of accomplishing next to nothing) and I told her I would figure it out (from her crazy kaotic list) and call her if I had quesions. I ended up writing all of the envelopes out while my mother did the return addresses and stamps. My sister put a few stamps on and put less than half of the invitations in the envelopes, sooo frustrating it didn't need to be an ordeal!! I didn't let my Mom help much because it seemed easier and less confusing to just do it myself, plus she did just have surgery and she was also getting way to stressed out this entire time.

I'm going to mail out the ones that are complete and I'm still waiting for my sister to give me her remaining friends addresses. Her excuse for all the disorder was she was sick (I am also sick and my Mother just had eye surgery and yet we weren't complaining) she was tired because her daughter kept her up the night before and she couldn't think strauight and she is just so stressed out. Anyway, enough about that. I love my sister but she drives me so crazy sometimes!

My mom went into work today to print maps and directions for people who are coming from out of town so I have to add those to the envelopes before I can seal them.

Okay, enough venting!! I'm all finished with the negative entry now!! Hope everyone had a nice week-end!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 12.5 lbs to go!

borntocry on 03/04/2007:
Gosh, that's a monster workout you got at the gym! However do you manage to work out for so long?!

Sounds like the stress may be getting to your sister. And maybe she is also used to you guys bailing her out whenever things get to be too much for her!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/04/2007:
hopefully this wedding business will work itself all out!!! nice job on exercise and food lately!

girliegirl6486 on 03/04/2007:
I'm still jealous of your amazing workouts! : ) Nice job, keep it up! My entry has some venting to it too, so no worries. I haven't had to venture into the wedding planning world yet, but I'm sure it'll happen soon after I get out of college - I'll have to help too many friends plan their weddings!

smiley2 on 03/05/2007:
At least working out is good for your stress levels! Way to go on the huge workout! I will never be able to do that! Good luck with your sister, you are handling the situation so well, must be all those endomorphines ;)

harleygirl79 on 03/05/2007:
Way to go with the gym trip. I am starting to think I would be more excited about exercising if I had to go somewhere to do it.

WorkingIt2 on 03/05/2007:
Thanks for the entry you left me about your relationship with your sister. It hurts that my sister and I will never be close, she didn't even ask me to be in her wedding so it is nice that you are involved in your sisters wedding. Mine didn't even really want me at her wedding but she figured she better invite me. And then, me being 8 months pregnant was assigned, by my mom, to check on the food and help decorate (sister had an inexpensive wedding). So I did a bunch of work, and my sister never even had one single wedding photo taken with me in it. For many years I let it bother me, thinking I did something wrong, and it was only when we had that huge fight a few months back, that I realized that the problem is with my sister and her own venom and there is nothing I can do about it. Which is also heartbreaking but far less self-destructive.

You are doing great with your calories and exercise..have a great day!

(Counting Calories & Exercise)
Weight: 124.0

Total Calories Today: 1471

Water: 11 glasses

I just wanted to say Thank-you to everybody for all of your support and great encouragement, you guys are awesome!! Thank-you for all of the ideas to help out my knee. I don't have a history of knee trouble or anything, this is the first time I've had a knee bother me. It's not super soar, but uncomfortable if I do certain movements with it. I'm pretty sure I've just twisted it funny or irritated it a little with some type of exercise I've done.

I'm down another half of a pound!! That is from my initial drop to 123.5 lbs. That might be thanks to a nice low calorie day yesturday or possibly all of that water I drank yesturday, I had 12 glasses!! I really was running to the bathroom alot though!!

My sister is coming over this afternoon so we can get those wedding invitations out, that should take a little bit of stress off of her shoulders. I have to think about writing a speach for her wedding also. The thought of that is terrifying to me!!! Actually writting the speach likely won't be difficult but saying it infront of everyone, yikes!! I've never liked to talk infront of a large group of people, this is something I avoided as much as possible all the way through school. Although I am an extremely "chatty" person, I am still rather shy especially if I'm to far out of my "comfort zone"!!

I think I may take to day off from exercising because today will likely be busy and I'm still feeling sick.

So I went to get dressed and spotted my old favourite pair of "skinny" jeans. I have been trying these on every couple of weeks so I thought, what the heck, I'll see how they fit today. I pulled them up with ease and I even have some wiggle room in my waist, I am soooo excited!!! I haven't been able to even get these jeans over my thighs since before my 2nd pregnancy. They are a size "2", WOOHOO!! Ofcourse the size of pant I fit into varies sometimes rather dramaticaly depending on the store I buy them from and the cut and style of the pants. This particular pair are from the Gap. They are a "stretch" jean wich is likely why they fit. I'm sure I wouldn't fit into a regular size 2 that doesn't have any "stretch" room in them.

I have lost a total of 3.5 inches off my waist (from 30" to 26.5") what a difference that makes in how things fit!! I've also lost 2 inches off each thigh. My thighs are now my biggest "problem" area. I still need to trim and tone them further. Ofcourse, I have also lost 3" off of my chest. That sucks to loose the boobs a little but I expected that, I typically loose weight in my face and boobs first. In a perfect world I would loose weight in my waist, thighs and butt and hold onto those slightly larger boobs, hee, hee. Its okay, I'm willing to give up the boobs for a smaller waistline. I think if I continue to shape and tone I will be okay with getting to around 115-118 lbs, we'll see what happens. How great it would be to just need to "maintain" my weight!!

Also, thanks to Biscotti giving me a web site to measure my "Body Fat" on line I have went from 25% body fat (the average healthy percent being around 22% for a female) to 20% body fat since starting here on DD, thats a definite improvement! Ofcourse thats not a completely accurate test, I would still like to have a more accurate test done at my gym. I'm feeling very HAPPY today!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Progress as of today: 7.5 lbs lost so far, only 14 lbs to go!

WorkingIt2 on 03/03/2007:
Congrats on the loss! Looks like you have an exciting day planned! Enjoy!

greengirl on 03/03/2007:
Well done on loosing the inches, and getting into the skinny jeans :0)

borntocry on 03/04/2007:
Congratulations on getting into those jeans! That's quite a lot you've lost from your waist - well done! I also used to wear size 2 jeans from the Gap. Those were my favourites!

you are doing awesome!!!!! thanks for all your comments on my entries...i have been a little busy myself lately...feel better!

(Counting Calories & Exercise)
Weight: 123.0

Total Calories Today: 1396 Finally a low day!

Exercise: 60 min on my bike (550 cals), 20 min pilates "arms" tape, 10 mins of ab exercises, 130 lundges (65/leg), 85 squats, 100 butt lifts, 150 kick backs (75/leg), 150 side kicks (75/leg)

Total calories burned through exercise: 876

Water: 12 glasses (I'm trying to flush out this cold, plus I just feel super thirsty because of it)

My daughter's school bus was cancelled again due to the storm. Last night when I went to bed all of the windows and the kitchen sliding door that are on the back of my house were covered in a thick sheet of ice!! I couldn't see out any of them! I have seen that happen on cars but just not on my house.

I'm supposed to go to the gym today but I don't know how the roads will be later. I think by this afternoon the main roads should be decent for driving on. Ofcourse I won't be able to do any leg exercises on the weight circuit because of my silly knee! I'll have to stick to cardio, arm and tummy work. I'm going to have to admit that this cold is getting the better of me!! Not only can I barely speak but now my chest hurts and I'm coughing up all kinds of fun and colourful stuff! Sorry to be so gross.

Looks like I am going to make it to the gym today afterall, YAY! I'm going to leave in about an hour. It looks so cold out. Surprise, its snowing again:)

I have to get together with my sister this week-end so we can get all of her wedding invitations done and sent out. I'm the only one (between, my sister, mom and I) that has everybody in the families addresses because I loyally send out Christmas cards every year. My mom sends a few and my sister never sends any. Just one of the many differences between my sister and I. It's funny how siblings often come with extreme opposite personalities!!

We also still have to go and get my sister's wedding dress and mine and all the girls dresses. She is making me really nervous leaving everything until the last minute!! I try not to be a nag but I like to plan everything way ahead because I find it less stressful that way!!

When Kirt and I got married (9 yrs ago this coming Sept.) we had over a year and a half to plan for it. Kirt proposed to me on my 21st b-day (Feb 1st, 1997) and we set our wedding date for the following year in Sept. We figured that would give us enough time to save money and plan the wedding.

Our wedding ended up being rather large, we had 14 people in our wedding party (not including Kirt and I) we just couldn't seem to narrow down our friends!! Plus my sister's 2 daughter's were our flower girls (now she has a 3rd daughter with her hubby-to-be) We had over 200 guests, a large fancy banquet hall, 2 limo's (one was an excalibur) etc etc. Yes, I did get a little carried away!! We were still living at home at the time and we were both working a full time and a part time job. We paid for the entire wedding ourselves and managed to pay most of it ahead. We had to take out a small loan for the rest which we paid off with in a few months after the wedding. It really was beautiful though, the food was great, the party was great. We had an open bar so everybody was enjoying themselves!! I don't have any regrets, although what we spent was really scary. It was very stressful to plan such a large wedding but well worth it in the end.

Our honeymoon was equally as fun. Kirt's Uncle Bill gave us his time share for 1 week as a wedding gift!! Isn't that a great gift!! We had no idea what to expect when we got there. We thought we would be in a nice hotel room. It turns out we had a Villa at a 5 star resort. It had 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and dining room. Our back door faced out onto a golf course and there was these 2 beautiful white swans always walking around out there. I would love to go back there again, so nice!

3 months until the Gwen Stefani concert!! It would be so great if I could reach my goal by then so I could go shopping and buy something cute and fun to wear to the concert!

Anyway, I will check in later with total calories etc. I just don't feel like listing a menu today. Have a great Friday, Yay the week-end is here!!

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Adam on 03/02/2007:
Wow, sounds like a nice wedding! My wife and I switched our plans from a "normal" wedding to one with just family members (and a few friends who crashed it) in a friend's backyard. Just as we got done the Goodyear blimp flew over really low -- it wasn't planned, but it seemed like it. You know, instead of releasing doves or something. =;)

borntocry on 03/02/2007:
Wow, sounds like you've caught the same bug as Sweetpea!

I agree - what a lovely wedding! My husband and I got married a couple of years ago in a castle in the south of France! It was a very small wedding, though. We rented out the castle for a week so our friends and relatives would have plenty of time to get to know each other!

I'm sorry your knee is still troubling you. Do you do squats at all? Apparently those are very good for strengthening your knees. Don't do them with weights, though, especially if you aren't used to it. And try icing your knee after you exercise. It's a hassle but it really does work.

Umpqua on 03/02/2007:
My 8-year anniversary is coming up in September too! Your wedding sounds wonderful, and I can completely relate. We paid for ours as well (and the honeymoon too) and we only had 50 guests! We did the open bar and everyone had a great time so it was definitely worth it.

Thanks so much for your comments and encouragement. I can't wait to take Jake outside and let him sit on the grass. He'll be about 5 months by the time it's warm enough. I know I'm in pretty decent shape with the weight loss but it's still tough to see these last 15 our so pounds hanging out and not going anywhere. My kid is already giving me quite a workout though, and he's only going to get heavier. Built in exercise ;) I hope you have a great weekend.

sandrella on 03/02/2007:
Your wedding sounds like it was a magical experience! :) I wish mine had been that way. It was nice, but I was so uninterested in a big wedding that I let my mom plan it! We're kinda wanting to renew our vows this year for our 10th, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Anyway...I hope you have a great weekend! Ps. Gwen Stefani!! What fun!! Have fun shopping, because I know you'll reach your goal!

sweetpea1977 on 03/02/2007:
Be sure not to work out too hard when you are sick. You need to let your body use some energy for healing. Three months is plenty of time to shape up and find a ultra cute outfit for the concert. Oh, my friend (a Gwen NUT!!) got 5th row tickets to the show here. Needless to say, she is super excited!! :o)

About shoes: its more of the insoles, how they support your arch. I use these insoles you have to put in the oven to mold to your arch. I bought them from RedWing Shoe Co. They really do help alot. By the way, Im a trumpeter, good day!

Your wedding sounds like it was so pretty!! I wish the same for your sisters! Get to the doctor before you end up flat on your back! And take good care of your knee...ice/heat/elevation/repeat lol.

Saturday, March 3, 2007 The courage to be you You are unique, with your own special beauty and value to give to life. What a terrible shame it would be if you were to let that beauty be hidden behind your fears. When you worry that you're not good enough, you allow others to control you, and their domination will soon make you miserable. Or when you fool yourself into thinking you're superior to everyone else, you deny yourself the exquisite joy of offering your own special gifts to life.

It takes courage and faith, effort and initiative to be who you are. And it is so very much worth the effort.

Though no one else can do it for you, you have what it takes to be magnificently successful at being you. From the deepest secrets of your soul to the face you put forward to the world, every bit of you is meant to be the authentic and original person you are.

Listen to that quiet, persistent voice inside that you know is always right. This is your opportunity to fulfill and express the real and lasting joy of being you.

Let the beautiful person inside of you come more fully to life as each moment passes. Let yourself, and the world around you, know the joy and fulfillment that is meant just for you to express.

(Counting Calories & Exercise)
Weight: 123.5

Total Calories for today: 1881 (was slightly over 1500 but then a had a bit of a chip binge)

Total Calories burned through exercise: 806

I'm a little disapointed with myself for having no willpower with the chips today but there's not much I can do now except try harder tomorrow!!

Breakfast: 1 pc of toast on ww with 1 tbsp of low fat peanut butter and a small glass of 1% milk.

Snack: half of a spinach tortilla with low fat cream cheese and cumbumbers (really enjoy this snack even if its kind of high in calories!)

Lunch: tuna sandwich on ww with a glass of 1% milk.

Dinner: rotissiere chicken (so good!) and 25 oven baked fries and a glass of 1% milk.

Water was good today, I had 10 glasses. I have been making a point of getting 10 or 11 glasses in the past few days, I'm hoping it will help me with this cold!!

Exercise: 70 min on my bike , 20 min pilates "ab" tape, 200 kick backs, 100 butt lifts (used to do this one all the time and recently seen it in a fitness magazine, didn't seem to bug my knee much)

Cheat Snacks: 3 chocolates (aprox 100 cals) & I ate at least a small bowl of chips I ate way to many, likely 300 cals or more. This will make my calories way high!! Hopefully I haven't done to much damage but tomorrow's another day.

I was happy to see the scale was exactly the same today! I'm getting close to my menstrual cycle again though so I expect it to start moving up soon. Hopefully I don't feel extremely hungry with it this month.

So much for dinner tonight!! My daughter's school bus was cancelled because we are expecting another storm this afternoon. I guess we will be figuring out yet another day for the girls to go out!!

My knee is still hurting a bit today. I know I have to be very carefull when it comes to my knees, hopefully it doesn't last for very long. It's not unbearable or anything but I don't want to aggravate it.

I just talked to my Mom and we had a very nice conversation. I was telling her how much I worry about her and how I want her to take better care of herself because I want her to stick around (for many, many more years!) She didn't get defensive this time so maybe she is hearing me and realizing that I'm not judging her but I really want her to help herself get healthier!! I would love if she would join DD but I'm not sure that will happen. She doesn't have a computer at home right now because her's is broken so she only has access to a computer at work. She definetly doesn't have time at work to do this because her job is very demanding and busy being that she works for "The Canadian Health Association". I would be so thrilled if she could quite smoking!! I realize its a habit and an addiction but I know if she sets her mind to it she could do it!! I do think I inherited my "stubborn" ways from her and although its not typically a good quality but with things like this it can be helpful:)

The snow has officially started, its coming down pretty good right now!! We are expecting the freezing rain to start around 7:00 pm tonight, fun, fun!

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 13.5 lbs to go!

sandrella on 03/01/2007:
I hope your knee feels better! I know what you mean about the munchies right before TOM...I get that way too. Maybe it'll bypass you this go round. Good luck! :)

biscottibody59 on 03/01/2007:
I have to be careful with my knees too--overuse rather than some underlying injury--but jogging is one thing that doesn't really affect it unless I do too much, too soon.

That BF test is right there on the page--you supply a few measurements, age and weight, so it's not like a skin caliper test or other sophisticated test, but I just use it to compare. I think the last time I had a caliper test a number of years ago, my BF was around 37% when I weighed nearly 190.

Have a good one!

borntocry on 03/01/2007:
Thanks a lot for the comment you left me - it really helped cheer me up! I don't think I can blame my menstrual cycle for my troubles, as I haven't had one since going off the pill... but that's a whole other story! Thanks for your advice on what to about my husband/brother dilemma. Unfortunately they don't get along at all. I think they're both just very possessive of me. If only they would make a little effort to get along, it would make my life so much easier! Oh well, maybe they will get used to each other as time goes by.

Speaking of family, it would be great if you could persuade your mother to join this website too! We would have another mother-daughter combo like Leeumom and mylifechanges!

Well, good luck with the exercise, and I hope your knee feels better soon. Which knee is it - the right one? I read somewhere that people tend to get knee problems on the dominant side of their body (so the right side for those who are right-handed, and the left for those who are left-handed) and I'm just testing the theory!

I thought of you the other day on my exercise bike - you do it too, don't you? Try the lowest resistance - it shouldn't aggravate your knees too much.

Donkey on 03/01/2007:
Your weight may not necessarily go up. I'm excited for you, 2 days of weighing a lower weight!!! I know usually with AF/TOM, weight tends to go up a few pounds, but if you are off a plateau, which you recently did, you may drop again after AF/TOM is done. Stick to your program if you can!! (I know hormones can make it difficult to find willpower, but you can do it if you try.)

Just wait until you see 121 on the scale. Yowza!

greengirl on 03/01/2007:
It'sgood that you can talk to your mum. It would be nice if she joined the site, wouldnt it?? I have problems on and off with my knees, but it is a repetitive stress injury through using the kick steps at work (small step/stool type equipment we use to reach the hhigher bookshelves). It has been better since Ive lost weight though. Take care of yourself :)

Im not too familiar with this but in my experience with female athletes they sometime buy these straps that support the patella in place.

http://www.footsmart.com/P-Gel-Patella-Knee-Strap-20030.aspx

In my experience I used to get a lot of back pain due to bad footwear. I baught some insoles that had much better support and I found the back pain gone, I was running much longer/faster and the pain in my feet gone. So check out your footwear.

(Counting Calories & Exercise)
Weight: 123.5

Total Calories: 1708 (close to where I predicted)

Breakfast: 1 pc of ww toast with 1 tbsp of low fat PB, a small glass of 1% milk and half of a grapefruit.

Water: 7 glasses so far. Snack: 1 serving (8 crackers) of organic veggie wheat crackers with low fat cream cheese and a small glass of 1% milk.

Lunch: tuna sandwich on whole wheat and a small glass of 1% milk (predictable, predictable!!)

Snack: Granola bar

Exercise: I did make it to the gym and I didn't feel to bad, considering. My knee is feeling a little off though so I only did 2 leg machines (on the weight circuit) and then focused on my arms. I did 50 min on the eliptical trainer (513 cals), 35 min weight circuit (228 cals) and 30 min on the recumbent bike (266 cals, I didn't push to much because I didn't want to irritate my knee), 10 min of ab exercises (65 cals)

Snack: 3 strub pickles (tasty and low in calories!), half of a tuna sandwich just because I was starving when I got home from the gym but its to early for supper!! I always feel super hungry when I do the weight circuit so I'm not going to worry to much if my calories are a little to on high side today:) My calories will likely end up between 1600-1700 today. I think thats okay on a gym day (I hope so!)

Total Calories burned through exercise: 1072

I'm finally down a pound, WOOHOO!!!!! I was just venting yesturday that I was getting so frustrated that the scale wouldn't budge! I know my weight will likely bounce back up tomorrow and it won't stick at 123.5 yet but hopefully I will loose it for good soon!!

I didn't end up going out to dinner with my girlfriends yesturday because my one friend (Genevieve) ended up having to go to a staff meeting after work and she asked us all to move it to Thursday. I was so looking forward to going out but it's just as well because I'm not feeling so great. I woke up this morning and my voice is almost completely gone, I'm having to whisper to get anything out! The weather channel this morning is saying that Thursday we will be getting another storm with snow and freezing rain. Its not looking good for going out on Thursday!!

I'm supposed to go to the gym today although I'm not sure if I will feel up to it, feeling so blah! Since we have a storm coming I really should go because I likely won't be able to get there Thursday or Friday

Kirts getting off work early today so I'm going to go to the gym after lunch. I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time getting through my work out today because I'm feeling a little under the weather. I hope I'm wrong and I have a great work out, you never know, it could happen!!!

I will check in later.

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 13.5 lbs to go!

leeumom on 02/28/2007:

Take care of yourself there! I guess you just have to tell yourself spring is just around the corner--I feel for you with all the nasty weather--just a fraction of what you get puts everything at a standstill here. Hope your mom continues to do well!

Have a good one!

Thanks for your comment to me! My birthday is Feb.2nd. I am probably close to your mothers age! She is still relatively young in my eyes at least so she can learn new ways to releave stress if she wants. I know its all up to her because only we can work on ourselves really!I am sure youre suggestions and attempts to help her deal with lives problems make her feel good though. I wish my son would suggest things to me and try to help me sometimes but I have him in therapy and like the therapist told me yesterday he is just a teenager and is acting age appropriately and its worng for me to try to and make him a help mate for me! Youre mother is so lucky to have such a loving caring daughter as you are though! I often wish I had a daughter who was around 30 now but it was meant to happen like it has I think. Good luck and I wanted to just tell you I really admire you!

WorkingIt2 on 02/28/2007:

Congrats on loosing that pound and making the scale move! Sorry to hear that you woke up without a voice. Maybe some hot water and honey? I've heard that can help.

Good luck with the exercise if you decide to go. Maybe it will end up making you feel better? Anything is possible. :-)

You're doing great!

YAY! Patience and perserverance pays off! Thanks for your comments. I enjoy reading your posts. I haven't had time to say this to but when you were talking about your Mom that rang so true with me about my Mom. I am probably closer to your Mom's age that to yours (I'm 52) but we never get too far from those Mother-Daughter relationships, do we?

Weight: 123.5

Breakfast: 1 pc of ww toast with 1 tbsp of low fat peanut butter and a small glass of 1% milk.

Snack: granola bar

Lunch: tuna sandwich on whole wheat with a glass of 1% milk.

Snack: half of a grapefruit with splenda & 15 grapes.

Dinner: half of a spinach tortilla with low fat cream cheese & cucumber and a salade with bar-b-qued chicken.

Snack: Oh those evil chips!! I was doing pretty good but then add about 25 chips and an extra 260 calories, YIKES!! Gives me a grand total of 1737 calories today!! Better luck to me tomorrow!

Water: 8 glasses so far

Exercise: Pilates for butt & thighs (15 min), ab exercises (10 min), 100 squats, 100 lundges (50/leg)

Calories burned with exercise: 294

I would like to get some cardio in tonight when I get home but I think it will be late and I won't feel up to it. I'm feeling a little sick today, I think I'm getting a bit of a cold. I will not get sick, bring on the Vitamins and water, hee, hee!!

My Mom's surgery went well yesturday. We picked her up from her girlfriends yesturday and brought her back to our house because she was put out for the surgery so she couldn't stay alone. She slept here last night but she had to go to the eye doctor this morning so he could check on her eye.

I'm off to take Craig to his swim class and then to the library. I'm supposed to be going out with 4 of my girlfriends tonight for dinner and a couple of drinks. I'm looking very forward to going out with my friends, we don't get together often enough with just the girls. We keep saying that we are going to plan to do this once a month but it just never happens because its so hard to find a day that we can all get together when there isn't something going on with work or our kids activities.

I will check back in later. Everyone have a great day!

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 13.5 lbs to go!

Donkey on 02/27/2007:
I'm glad that your mom's surgery went well.

I cannot imagine drinking milk and eating tuna in the same meal.

Have fun with the girlfriends!!! Have an umbrella drink for me, because Lord knows I sure could use one.

Thanks for the comment! I did get to exercise today, hooray for that, but I was pretty exhausted from putting the newspaper together all night and then I have 8 a.m. class on Tuesday/Thursday. : ( I guess some exercise is better than none, I ran a little over a mile and then did the elliptical for 10 more minutes and did some weights too.

Chips drive me crazy...how does something so little have so much fat and calories...argh! Nice job on the meals though : )

WorkingIt2 on 02/27/2007:
I am the SAME way with Hershey's Dark Chocolate Kisses....I have to plan at least a couple hundred calories a day, sometimes, just so I can have them! UGH =)

(Counting Calories & Exercise)
Weight: 123.5

Total Calories: 1662

Breakfast: 1 pc of extra fibre whole wheat bread with 1 tbsp of low fat peanut butter, half of a grapefruit & a small glass of 1% milk.

Snack: 10 organic veggie wheat crackers with partly skimmed mozzerella cheese and a glass of milk. Very tasty but also very high in calories!! I do love dairy!

Lunch: half of a tuna sandwich on ww, two egg whites and a small glass of 1% milk.

Exercise: At home I did 800 step-ups (35 min) and 200 jumping jacks. I went to the gym and I did the eliptical trainer for 40 min, the weight circuit for 45 min and walked the treadmill for 15 min.

Total calories burned through exercise: 1109 (that includes shovelling the drive-way for 25 min, hee, hee!)

Yesturday my total calories were just under 1500 but after I exercised I had a little more to eat. My total calories by the end of yesturday were 1617. I worked until 7:30pm and then after I got home and put the kids to bed I rode my bike for 75 min burning 730 calories.

After I dropped Taylor off at her bus this morning Craig and I shovelled the drive way for aprox 25-30 min. We are having a bit of a snow storm that started last night. I think I'll have to go and shovel the drive-way again later on today. I really dislike shovelling snow, but at least it counts as exercise and I'm burning calories while doing it!!

I'm hoping to get to the gym tonight although I'll have to wait and see how the roads are this afternoon. I'm planning to get some of my cardio in this morning and then I can do a little bit more cardio and the weight circuit at the gym.

My mom had to go for eye surgery this morning to have cateracts removed. She gets one eye done today and the other 2 wks from now. I hope everything goes well, I worry so much about her! My mom was nervous and anxious all week-end about this surgery today, my poor mom!! She is so afraid of hospitals and dentists, she physically gets herself so worked up that she ends up with an upset stomach, headaches and the runs whenever she feels stressed out. I think I inherited this trait from her because when I'm upset or nervous my body definetly reacts badly also!

I'm going to try to go and catch up on some of your diaries now. Hope everybody has a great day:)

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 13.5 lbs to go!

WorkingIt2 on 02/26/2007:

girliegirl6486 on 02/26/2007:
Oh my goodness! I cannot believe how many calories you burn through exercise! I wish I had the time to do that...if I could exercise that much I'd be all set!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/26/2007:
veggies to recommend...yellow/red peppers, eggplant (very good in chinese dishes...but i guess they can be loaded with oil....), zucchini/summer squash, spinach is a little strong but you should use some light dressing...or fat free/sugar free balsamic for like almost no calories!...it can also be sprayed with low cal spray and heated in the oven for a crispy texture i hear..., all types of tomatoes, sweet potatoes, cauliflower if you're up to it (it smells bad to many, but it tastes so good!). They sell these new, pre-seasoned packages of frozen cauliflower that taste really good. also, there are some frozen food brands that sell really good, very lightly seasoned vegetables. Hain makes some really good "vegetable bowls." i think the company is hain, anyway. all beans are good for putting in salads...ohhh, sugar snap peas i..those crispy flat things are great! hmmm. those were foods I came up with on a whim...if i think of anything else that might be good, i'll let you know. stir-frying zucchini and squash is a good idea...they'll take on the flavors of the other foods. you have to cook them....don't eat raw.

(Counting Calories & Exercise)
Weight: 125.0

Total Carories today were a little high but I did a alot of exercise so I don't feel to guilty. Total Calories were 1783. Now I must edit my calories for today!! I was feeling hungry so I ate cucumbers with low fat veggie dip, that wasn't so bad. Then I ate a few more chips and 4 organic veggie wheat crackers with another glass of milk. (I love milk, I have to try to not drink to much of it!!) New Total for calories is 1924.

Total Calories burned through exercise: 1269

Breakfast: quaker oats with 1% milk and a glass of 100% pure orange juice.

Snack: 1 egg white & 4 oz glass of 1% milk.

Lunch: half of a tuna sandwich on whole wheat (high fibre bread) & half of a spinach tortilla with 2 tbsp of "light" cream cheese and cucumber slices, 1 glass of 1% milk.

Cheat Snack: 10 chips (aprox 120 cals)

Water: 11 glasses

Snack: 1 medium sized apple

Dinner: 2 thin slices of ham, potatoes baked with onions and spices (used pam not butter) and a glass of 1% milk.

Snack: Granola bar and about 8 more chips:)

Herbal tea with 100% natural honey.

Exercise: Bike for 60 min (510 cals), 60 squats, 40 jumping lundges, 60 regular lundges, 150 jumping jacks, 10 min of "ab" exercises, 200 kick backs (100/leg) toning & conditioning exercises burned 227 calories. My calories are a little high already and I haven't eaten dinner yet so I'm going to try to get another 30 min of cardio in today.

Rode my bike for another 60 min burning 530 calories. I know this may seem a little excessive but I peeled and cut up potatoes for dinner while riding and folded a couple of loads of laundry so the time just went by quickly:)

Yesturday my husband and I went out for dinner. Our friends that were supposed to come didn't end up coming. It was nice to have some alone time with my husband though. Its so nice and relaxing to have a couple of glasses of wine and a nice dinner with just the two of us.

I didn't do to badly with dinner. I had Teriyaki chicken (its boneless & skinless) with roasted garlic potatoes. I ate the whole chicken breast and less than half of the potatoes. Kirt and I split an order of sauteed portabella & button mushrooms. It was sooooo tasty and good. I really enjoyed dinner. We didn't have any dessert, we have never been dessert people. Kirt & I don't really eat baked goodies (cake, cookies, cupcakes etc) We both have a weakness for chips and I love chocolate, although I never eat cake unless its someone's b-day. When we came home Kirt and I had a couple more drinks together which was nice although not so good for my calorie intake!!

My calories weren't to bad until Kirt went to bed and I got into the chips. I think when I have a couple of drinks I have an even harder time avoiding the munchies! Oh well, I enjoyed myself and today is another day. I guess it could have been worse!

I won't be able to make it to the gym this week-end wich frustrates me! Kirt is working all day today and he thinks he'll be staying late. My gym is only open until 6:00 pm on Saturday & Sunday. Tomorrow I have to go to work. I will have to make a point of getting to the gym on Monday. Today I will fit some exercise in at home.

Progress as of today: 6.5 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

biscottibody59 on 02/24/2007:
Sounds like a lovely evening all around! I can usually pass up ordinary desserts especially if dinner was good.

Thanks for your encouraging comments--I don't know when I made that transition, but it's just so counterproductive to beat myself up about food. I mean I'm the one who did it to myself:-)

Have a great evening!

BTW, we're having a minor, but rare dust storm right now--we go years without one here!

greengirl on 02/24/2007:
It's always nice to spend a little time alone with your nearest and dearest. i always appreciate time alone with my hubby although it doesnt happen very often these days. i am always the same after a few drinks, I eat unneccessarily!!! I think it is a common failing !!

great job on your food choices today...keep up the good selections!! And I know what you mean about gym hours on the weekends. I'll never understand why they close so easy on the weekends...i think they'd be surprised by how much business they would make by staying open later!
