Good morning, Girlie Girls!

Having a nice weekend? So am I. In addition I felt asleep at 8 pm yesterday and woke up 8 am today, hahahah. I need this from time to time. Especially when I introduced badminton into my life - on those days I get only 5 hours of sleep because I get to bed after midnight and I have to wake up at 5.45 am to go to tennis. LOL... I'm so hectic, I know.

Today I'm going to Sintra with my . Sintra is a beautiful Portuguese city. A jewel! See this short video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLh12VzGSu4

Today's menu:

08H00 - LF milk w/ coffee, two small slices of toasted rye bread and LF cheese, cornichons (350 kcal)

11H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (50 kcal)

Progress as of today: 145.2 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

Good morning, Girls!

Yesterday I had a great night of badminton! YAYYY :-) I had 1900 kcals, but it's OK on a day like that (tennis, bodybalance and badminton).

Today I went to Pilates and then I skipped swimming, I was reading my book instead (I have neck pains and I didn't feel like swimming), and then I had my PowerPool class. It was great. Then my man asked me out gently to eat out, and then see the movie called SuckerPunch. The movie was ... well. I didn't like it too much, but one of the girls, who turned out to be a winner/hero (hehe) was called Sweet Pea and I associated :-)))))))).

Today's menu:

08H00 - two slices of whole grain, thin toast w/ LF cream cheese and a cup of 20% coffee w/ skimmed milk (350 kcal)

11H00 - health biscuits (100 kcal)

14H00 - green bean soup, a whole grain bun, mango flavored ice-cream (750 kcal)

17H00 - banana, and some food sampling (meat and white bread) (200 kcal)

18H30 - LF yogurt, Danone Densia (50 kcal)

20H00 - veggie soup (250 kcal)

Grand total: 1500 kcal

Progress as of today: 145.2 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

I think it was lovely that you were asked out to dinner and a movie. Men never choose a good one but the though behind it was very romantic. Lovely!!

• F.R.I.E.N.D.S.: (F)ight for you. (R)espect you. (I)nvolve you. (E)ncourage you. (N)eed you. (D)eserve you. (S)ave you.

Good morning, Girlies!

Let's see what do we have here today: a Kathy in a good mood!

I didn't go to the doctor yesterday - I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough and made you girls worry. I went to do some X-Rays of the spine, as the orthopedic doctor requested, and I'll get the stuff on the 13th. From then, I will have to book an appt. again, and he will analyse and say something wise... until then, no doctors.

I feel good today. I had minor dizziness in the morning, but I went to tennis anyway, and BodyBalance (which was cancelled but a substitute prof. came and we had a nice and calm lesson of Tai Chi with rackets and balls, hehehe...). Tonight is badminton night, YAYYY...

About the food and my cravings: V's right, it must be emotional. I'm going to change this. I'm doing lots of exercise, so I cannot possibly live on 1400 kcals like when I started this diet. I try to keep this value and I feel awful when I fail, and that triggers to eat even more, because "I've already failed, so it doesn't matter". This thought came flashing in my mind yesterday night, when I tried to analyse myself... So, my idea is the following: I'm going to raise calorie intake to 1700 per day. I am going to write down the foods again, and will try to respect the following:

SUMMARY OF THE ATHLETE'S DIET NUTRITIONAL INPUT (source: http://www.springboard4health.com/notebook/diet_athlete.html)

65% COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES - vegetables, fruits, and grains either raw, cooked at low heat, or in the case of grains with a high whole grain content
10 to 15% FAT - preferably of vegetable origin, though even if you stick to low fat sources of protein you will still get some fat
10% PROTEIN - in meats stick to fish or fowl or lamb. Tofu is a good source of protein. A good quality protein powder with a P.E.R. of at least 2.7 will provide a good balance of all the amino acids, and if properly designed from multiple sources (a pure soy protein is difficult to digest and poorly assimilated) should require little energy for digestion.

Today's menu:

06H10 - LF yogurt w/ whole grain cereals (150 kcal)

10H30 - LF milk w/ 20% coffee (50 kcal)

12H30 - vegetable soup, grilled chicken w/ veggies, and some ice-cream my colleague brought (GRRR...) (850 kcal)

16H30 - a biiiig apple (100 kcal) and a LF plain yogurt (100 kcal)

18H30 - LF milk w/ 20% coffee (50 kcal)

20H30 - a banana (100 kcal) + healthy cookies (100 kcal)

23H30 - veggie soup (250 kcal) + fruits and milk (200 kcal)

Grand total: 1900 kcal

Next mini-goal: below 80 kgs til 12th May (176.3 lbs)

Progress as of today: 145.2 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

V on 04/08/2011:
Good for you upping the intake a bit that will assist you not to overdo it!!! You are doing an amazing job Kat!! Love you!! have a wonderful day :)

V on 04/08/2011:
Yep! That is the same..I only put ground turkey and lean italian turkey sausage in mine with onions red peppers artichokes and a can or two of diced tomatoes and hott chiles :P Yummy!!

V on 04/08/2011:
Oh BTW I couldnt burn it either :( Stupid copyrights infringement issues! LOl...Yes it seems all I talk about are cute boys and Turbo fire!! LOL

liza36 on 04/08/2011:
I think this new plan is a good one. You'll do great!

Love the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Have a good weekend, friend.

Umpqua on 04/08/2011:
I think changing your calorie goal is a good idea. 1,400 is pretty much my loss goal, and you are taller than me and burn a lot more with all the sports you do. Plus you are younger ;)

The spa treatment was incredible! I have neglected my skin for too long and now that the rest of my body feels healthy, I want healthy skin too. She said I was very dry and so I need to change some of the products I'm using and get some higher quality ones. It will be worth it to have smoother and improved skin. I LOVE getting massaged, and she did my neck and shoulders as part of the treatment.

I totally know what you mean about being more active in life in general. When I spend the weekend with my girlfriend she is very sedentary and can spend an entire day and night on the couch. I can't do this, I can't sit still that long, I have to move around her house and find stuff to do, and I eventually do stretches and part of my yoga routine just to make my muscles feel better! Have a good weekend!

Umpqua on 04/08/2011:
Thanks for the product suggestions, I'll bookmark them. The spa uses Yonka, which I know is super expensive. Oh and my aesthetician was from Germany but her family is Hungarian, I guess they were on the border and the Nazis made them move to Germany during the war, so she was born in Germany. She was very interesting to chat with!

Supercheese on 04/08/2011:
That would be awesome to get me measured for my calorie intake. Where would I believe to get that done? Any nutritional office? PS you can do it! PS You're from hungary. Been there 3 times in Budapest as well as Lake Balaton. Loved it!

sweetpea1977 on 04/08/2011:
I definitely agree that you need more calories to sustain your very active lifestyle. Your new plan sounds awesome!

lifestylechange on 04/08/2011:
thanks so much for your advice!! :)

the girls will no longer be going to see rango and are now going to see hop with my parents instead :) THANKS A MILLION!

nemogirl on 04/09/2011:
Hey V, I'm reading a book called the 4 hour body, and he says you should eat more protein if you feel hungry. His book is a page turner, maybe you would find it interesting. One thing I appreciate is that he takes the emotion out of it. It's all facts and results driven.

Scale: 81,3 kgs... ( 179,2 LBS) YAYYY...  I won't update now, I want to reach 81 first!

Dizziness: unfortunately it persists, so much that I skipped (!!!) tennis today morning. Can you imagine that... My heart was bleeding and it is still crying over the lost opportunity of an individual training. Dang it. I should have known, yesterday's badminton didn't taste any good! I measured my blood pressure today morning, it was 110/60, pulse 51. It's low but nothing dangerous/abnormal.

I'm going to do the x-ray tonight, of the spine. Then, after receiving the results, I have to book for the orthopedia again. This stupid dizziness must be because of my spine. You know, I was thinking about low blood pressure and things don't seem to add up. The theory is good, but I had this blackout while doing exercises, cardio exercises... when, blood pressure normally goes up, so ...?! Doesn't make sense.

Have a nice day, girlies! Today I won't post a pic, I came in jeans and longsleeves, LOL.

Today is an excess calorie day, again... What's happening to me :-(. Now they brought ice-cream and I couldn't resist those whole grain, fructose carob biscuits at the store, and I ate it all (250 gr, 1000 kcals) !!!!... 2000+ kcals and it's only 6 PM...

Progress as of today: 145.2 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

im so sorry you are having these dizzy feelings - do you think it could be symptoms of vertigo? also does sound like low bp - i hope you get to feeling better soon and drink lots of water! xoxo

Umpqua on 04/07/2011:
Ugh, sorry you are still feeling dizzy. Great job on the scale movement. I usually try not to worry about small fluxes on the scale since they happen so often, but for some reason I was expecting more today. That's what I get for having expectations ;) Oh and the lax tea absolutely worked for me when I was low carbing. I don't know about this detox tea since I've been drinking tons of water anyway. It's tasty though!

Good morning, Girlios!

Our mind is capable of passing beyond the dividing line we have drawn for it. Beyond the pairs of opposites of which the world consists, other, new insights begin.
Hermann Hesse

Thank you for the nice and wise comments on yesterday's entry. I promise I'm going to be careful.

I had a terrible night marked by blackouts again. I woke up in the morning, all dizzy and went to tennis. I don't remember most of the bus trip, and I had to interrupt my training and skip BodyBalance completely because I was not able, was not in conditions. This was, so far, the worst case of dizziness in my history. And I think I mentioned the other day - the doctor didn't find anything wrong with me. He sent me to the orthopedia again, and I really have to do the X-Ray to see what's happening to me. Meanwhile, I'm going to exercise auto-evaluation at home, by writing down, logging my blood pressure every morning before getting out of bed. I've already requested a portable blood pressure meter for this workplace also, from the Finance Director.

We have a new colleague, a girl. Today the boss came and presented her to us, and then called me to his office and asked me what was wrong with me, because I normally give a warm welcome to newbies, and today I didn't do so... LOL. I don' feel like office clown today... then he told me I could have a diet fatigue, because of eating healthy stuff and exercising. LOL, didn't know it was that dangerous! We could say I'm lacking vitamins or something, but my blood and urine tests came out fine... Iron, Mg, everything. I should go to the doctor and ask for supplements... I don't have a clue!

BTW yesterday was very food-wise. I ate looooooooots of soup at night because it wasn't good anymore to keep it in the fridge for one more day so I resolved to eat it all up, instead of throwing out. I really love my MIL's soups. Tonight I go to badminton and my man will make me soup!  We are in a phase of kissies and hugs and stuff, but we still don't talk about his job seeking issues... it bothers me a bit because I'd love to know if my Leo man is a fighter ninja or a pussycat...

A photo from today, well, I still need to lose that 40 lbs but I'm getting better... and the weather is soooooooooo nice, finally!!! SPRINGTIME, WOOHOO!!!

Progress as of today: 145.2 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

waydesmommy on 04/06/2011:
Hey! Sorry to hear about all the black outs and dizzyness. Your boss may be on to something. I don't think eating healthy and exercising is dangerous for you, but your body may be missing something that you used to eat or you could be over working yourself. In a situation like that I would try different combinations to see what makes me feel better and what doesn't. But I hope it all gets taken care of soon. Take care!

Umpqua on 04/06/2011:
Take care not to overdo it until you figure out what's up! Is it possible you could be more than 2 weeks pregnant? I hope you get some answers soon.

Your symptoms really sound like you could be preggo..I am hoping you will finally get some resolve to your issue :) Love you Kat! Please take care :)

selina on 04/06/2011:
Cooler weather does not help with the allergies, unfortunately. It's the pollen count that counts...

Take care of yourself, Kathy! Blackouts sound dangerous!

You are looking Hotttt! So thin and trim and so happy and healthy... Your face is glowing! :)

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well... How has your blood pressure/pulse been? Low blood pressure can cause dizziness/fatigue?? I'd get that checked and be sure to tell your doc all that you have going on... Sounds scary. I'm glad that your urine/blood tests are coming back okay... Have you taken a pregnancy test yet? Staying hydrated? Getting enough rest?

Sometimes people are uncomfortable with the new people that we become when we lose a lot of weight. If they always expecected you to be the office clown they will have to get used to the new you. You don't need to be a laughing welcoming giggling office clown. You be the new you and behave however you feel like, professional and composed sounds perfect for our new Kathy. Donna just saw you new photos and said you look fabulous and loves todays top - I don't think she was dropping a hint, just thought you looked great.:)

Goodie morning, Girlios!

Within us there is someone who knows everything, wills everything, does everything better than we ourselves.
Hermann Hesse

I feel so much better now, after reading your nice comments. You mean the world to me! Now this is an interesting entry from me... please, give me your opinions!

The biscuits are gone, FOR GOOD, and the whole wheat toasts also. It can be whole grain, and fiber-rich, etc. but it's still processed food, therefore addictive for us, sensible lady souls...

Badminton was great yesterday night. I poured my heart out to the coach at my weakest moment, I told him how I feel about my so-called "progress" they always praise... I told him I felt like a ****ty player, never finding the correct position and place on the court and taking the critics too hard because I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to sports... I hope the quote above is true and I just have to find this someone inside me who plays better badminton than I do... LOL...
He told me it was something really natural and we agreed that tennis can influence the positioning on court, big time. It's so true, tennis is natural to me, badminton looks very confusing and wrong: so I always try to position myself like on the tennis court which is a mistake. Now I have to go, by the end of the month, to Caldas da Rainha (where we went to pick up picnic ingredients last month) and observe the International Badminton Championship. Interesting challenge!

Meanwhile, I was looking for the medieval fairs and markets in the country, and events I'd like to see. There'll be an event called: "3rd Erotic Medieval Fair". Now, this sounds interesting. Erotic and medieval? What does this mean? They don't use condoms? hehe... or they dress up in fancy, 18th century clothes and show their ankles? (in medieval times women wore huge clothes and showing the leg was something obscene and inappropriate for ladies, men went crazy when caught a sight of a single ankle... well, in the meantime humanity changed, big time, hehe...).

Back to the food craving topic, I was thinking. Not having TOM, having these cravings - am I pregnant or what?! We actually had sex two weeks ago, but we were careful. I'm not on the pill though, and he doesn't use condom, we go for the coitus interruptus way. It's the less safe, I know, but we didn't notice anything. Should I do the test? When does a test give thrustworthy result? After how much time? It's because on Thursday I go for a spine X-RAY and pregant women shouldn't do X-rays... Really, I don't believe I can be pregnant. Because there would be other signs, right... like nausea? And TOM "dissapeared" way before two weeks ago, so it may be a coincidence as well...

This is me, today! I decided to be pretty for the underground strike... LOL... no kidding, the guys are doing it again, 3x this week. This is a skirt V sent me ! Salute the Sun!

Progress as of today: 145.2 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

V on 04/05/2011:
Wow Kat!!! Sorry for saying this over and over but you look AMAZING!! i am so happy that you are getting use from the items I sent you :) Maybe you can wear the leather skirt to the erotic fair!!LOL As far as your pregnancy question, I think the absence of TOM has alot to do with all of the training and your weight loss as well as the stress of your man's situation...If you don't have the dinero to pay for an unexpected trip to the doc, get a pregnancy test from a pharmacy..Since you are going to the dr.'s anyways it certainly couldn't hurt to get a test done there...There will be no mistake if you are indeed pregnant the tests are pretty on point...Anyways I wish you luck at your appointment and please let me know what's up!!

Umpqua on 04/05/2011:
You look awesome Kat! As for a pregnancy test, you should probably wait 3 weeks after the deed was done before testing, an early detection test would show it at that point. Otherwise wait 4 weeks and get a cheapo test and it will show. The Medieval Fest sounds fun ;)

selina on 04/05/2011:
Kathy, you are looking AWESOME! It's pretty amazing what you've achieved so far!

nemogirl on 04/05/2011:
I agree with V, but I'll keep talking cause that's the way I roll. I don't know what the rules are in your country, but at least for me if the doctor is performing a test on a woman that would be harmful to a fetus he has to ask her if there is any chance she could be pregnant and test her to be sure. So, I think I might say, "There is the tiniest chance I might be pregnant, would you please rule that out before my xray?" Looking at your pictures, I think to myself, She doesn't look like she has a weight problem. Keep up the great work!

mcwoo40 on 04/05/2011:
Hello Kathy,you look fantastic :)

lifestylechange on 04/05/2011:
You look great!! :)

There is a possibility you could be pregnant and even though it's a small possibility....XRAYS can be very harmful to a fetus.... So please be sure to confirm whether or not you are prior to getting the XRAY done. :) Most over-the-counter pregnancy tests will tell you 5 or so days before your period was suppose to start... Some take a little longer. I would go with "first response" if they sell that brand there as they are the first type to detect the hcg (pregnancy) hormone. Good luck! :)

~Moody~ on 04/05/2011:
Simply beautiful~WOW!!!!

As for the possibility of being pregnant..They have tests now that can determine it very early..for peace of mind, I'd probably grab one and take it. Then ya'd know, one way or the other...

LOVE the quote btw~I'm gonna steal it..thanks for sharing!

Hackersdiet on 04/05/2011:
You look really good. You have a lot to be proud of. Postpone the xray test. It isn't worth having it done and then finding out you are pregnant. So, don't take a chance, even a teeny tiny small chance. Most likely, the test can wait a few weeks. If you go, have a great time at the fair!

moogy on 04/05/2011:
Is that really a picture of you Kathy or your slim sister, fabulous. I used to play badminton and was really good but couldn't play tennis. Totally different physical requirements, I am not surprised that you find it difficult to be 'perfect' at both games. Thank you for your kind words. Oh, on a sideline in medieval times rich people used sheepskin (finely shaved) to use as condoms, plus tons of natural methods that we no longer use.:)

Good morning, girls!

Sunny, bright skies - just the way I like living the day... at work, closed in an office. OK, it can never be 100% perfect, right...?

Tennis (indiv.) was great, then a perfect BodyBalance, even with the pains I feel all over my body because of Saturday's yoga class. I'm so weak... LOL. Today is badminton day, definitely...

I'm still having food issues, excess calories (yesterday around 2000), so weight-loss is somehow pending or at least slowed down (as I still exercise a lot). I'm not worried though, because I eat lean and clean - no, or almost no junk food. Too many fruits and breads though, I have to reduce these to 2 doses of fruit a day and bread only 2 times a week. Which is a hard task to do... I am going to eliminate all the cookies from my life, I made a big mistake buying a pack last week... The pack contains 12 small individual doses but it doesn't result for me - I open and eat up several and get deeper into binging and desperation... So, it's better to eliminate all cookies. I don't know if you've ever wondered about cookies. Many of them say "no added sugar" or "no sugars" but the calorie value is still 400-500 per 100 gr... it's because they contain fat, and no cookie ever says "no fat" because it's impossible. So, carbs and fats, too tasty, too concentrated and too rich in calories. Better having a large dose of veggie soup instead! :-)

UPDATE at 7h30 PM - I'm terrible, I've already had approx. 2000 calories today... I won't eat tonight after badminton. I'm reading what I wrote down today morning, and I feel like failure. I had cookies and bread again. But, now I don't have any in my desk drawer and I won't buy more. Also, I try to reduce my coffee to 1 per day, because according to FitnessMagazine "Too much caffeine can lead to sugar craving." I drink at least 2-3 coffees per day!

Progress as of today: 145.2 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!

Have fun at badminton!

I know how you feel about the cookies, I have huge carb cravings and sometimes I just give in. Be kind to yourself, be compassionate with the little girl inside you that just loves cookies!!! That's what I do when I lose control. Hang in there.

You will get through this phase. I think it happens when you've stayed "good" with choices for the most part. Whether it's your head thinking, "I'll test those waters and see what happens," or whatever brought it about, you are aware enough to know that your long-term success is going to be okay. That's my opinion from what I know of you:-)

Just don't beat yourself up. And it may be that cutting back the coffee will help you get better, more restful sleep--which is always a good thing for health and weight loss:-)

Please stop beating yourself up..I am in awe of you. I look at how much you have lost...how steady your loss has been, how dedicated and determined you've been..and I am just amazed! YOU are an incredible inspiration..So yes, please be kind to yourself.

I agree with Biscotti!! I went through something similar with the pound cake when I was at home for Christmas..I giess it is all about managing to fit it in with your daily caloric intake that you have set for yourself...I am hoping you get a firm grip Kat, I know you can do this, listen to the inner warrior that roars you Can and will do this, sometimes it's tough but you gotta get even Tougher!! Love you lovely lioness!!!

Man, I hate it when I do that, too. It's like you are trying to avoid doing a very specific thing (here it's eat cookies and bread) and then you go and do it. The thing is, those foods feel really satisfying going down. I think the main attraction with them is the feeling of fullness and comfort than comes instantly from eating them. You really build up the satisfaction in your head, but after a few moments usually you feel guilty. Imagine the satisfaction of eating them as being transient, like fog on a mirror when you step out of the shower. Think of the uncomfortable feelings that linger afterwards and it will help you to avoid buying them or eating them so often. You have this thing down, and you can do this. You have done it, and you won't let this get you down.

Goodie morning, Girlios! :-)

The event was good - there were minor issues and unfortunate events (The Body Vibe class was interrupted because the ceiling fell down, and a panel fell on a girl of the team responsible for the BodyVibe/BodyBalance classes... they were so pissed off they cancelled the rest of the classes and went away...).

I didn't see the bra fitting, because they changed schedules and I wanted to attend an other event at the same hour. Oh well, and they gave me a t-shirt saying (10-12), so it's for children! GRRR...

Foods were worse than last year, too. Last year they had cereals and semi-skimmed milk, and apples. This year they had champagne and chocolate samples. All women went crazy - except me??, lol...

I left my opinion on their Facebook site, now they have both my positive and negative opinion, I hope they won't mind, hahahah...

I'm off today, visiting friends. Man doesn't come, he goes to his mommy because he cannot miss a single Sunday. I never understand this inflexibility of his in all aspects...

Well, nice Sunday to all of you, loves!

Hello, girls!

Ahhh, it was a good option not to attend the badminton training last night. We came home, I spent a very calm and perfect evening on the bed reading my book (The Cat Who Came to Breakfast : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cat_Who_Came_to_Breakfast ) and today I'm fully prepared for the Women of Body and Mind event!

Calorie intake was good, a 90% foodwise day, and today my weight keeps at 181. Wonder when does it start to frustrate me (reaching plateau??).

I'll get back to you later, with some photos?  Check my previous entry, I posted the program of the event. It can change though because they have 4+1 rooms constantly in movement with various activities so I can change my mind anytime...

Progress as of today: 145.2 lbs lost so far, only 36 lbs to go!
