Good morning, Ladies!

Doctor's appointment at 10AM, it's 8h30 now and I'm waiting for a free bathroom... .

I have to tell you that (and I hope it helps and gives you some extra boost) I AM SO MOTIVATED. I am about to enter in the world of the size 48 clothings.

I tried on a jacket yesterday which I bought few months ago, and it WORKED. Not perfect but can close it and in a month it will serve for sure. I'll be working on it.

Also, I ordered some new clothes (my man will kill me...). You cannot imagine the problem I have at this level. I have plastic bags FILLED with clothes I cannot use anymore. I got several types of advices on this: 
- donate
- throw away
- go to a quick service and get them fixed for your new size
- etc. etc.

Well... throwing away is out of question... I'm trying to save the planet here, and so many people in need, etc. etc. OK, maybe those people are not size XXXXXXX.....L, but... who knows.  Actually, I WOULD BE ABLE to donate SOME of these, yes. But there are pieces I ADORE and my heart breaks in two... ALTHOUGH I know they are not good for me... and they canot be resized... anyways, I buy clothes for 10-20 euros at maximum, and wouldn't pay 20-30 euros to get them reduced... for a limited period of time, hopefully...

My size history is as follows: I started at (Portuguese/Spanish/French measurement) 64, and now I'm getting into the 40's. 48 :-) So small, so cool! I feel like a door has opened for me, with unlimited possibilities and girlie clothings finally... Because at size 60's you get like BLACK and WHITE.... or those supermommy-colours like GREY and NAVY GREEN... Now I have YELLOW and PINK and VIOLET and LIGHT BLUE... AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I'm sooo in love with the world now!!!!!

So my advice to everyone feeling low: GET TO A SHOP, PICK UP A BEAUTY PIECE WITH SMALLER SIZE THAN YOUR ACTUAL, and YOU GET YOURSELF A MOTIVE, a GOAL! 


Today's menu:

08H00 - LF milk w/ LF cocoa and black sugar, cereals (350 kcal)

13H00 - asparagus cream with 2 frankfurt sausages (low-fat low-sodium made of chicken, 79 kcal each), mango (550 kcal)

15H00 - Lf milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

18H00 - a Lf chicken frankfurt sausage leftover (79 kcal), a piece of cereal bread (150 kcal) and some LF cheese cream (80 kcal)

22H30 - fruit pure and 2 cookies before going to bed (taking medicine 1st time)

Grand Total: 1500 kcal


UPDATE on the Dr's appointment: Well... I explained her about the dizziness and blackout at night, in the bed. She said it wasn't the ear - that would happen OUTSIDE the bed, while walking/standing, etc. Unfortunatelly, this is about my crusade, a spine problem. Now I will have to do the X-Ray stuffs again, and take a pill before getting to bed. I HATE PILLS... I'm so sad because of this spine problem. I have bad posture, and maybe the Pilates and the hidropower classes are bothering it. Now I have to discover if it's being done for BETTER or for WORSE... I won't suspend anything, she didn't tell me to do so.

Sweetpea: this is a general doc, not the endo... :-) the endo will be in late November.

Girls, I really appreciate your support, it means a loooot to me. You are so far much more supportive than my man... this is sad, but I'm so happy to be with you and I don't know where would I be without you! BTW I'm with you more time than with him for sure, even if this is virtual... lol.

Progress as of today: 108 lbs lost so far, only 58.2 lbs to go!

I had to laugh at the idea of you travelling from Portugal to sort out my son in law. That would definietly get him moving. I have good news though, I could hear movement from downstairs in the garage. So I think things may be afoot!!!! I hope you had a good Thursday Kathy, I would love to know what the doctor said about your blackouts. I have been concerned for you.

Oh what good news, it is wonderful that you fit into your new size. You are like a different woman. My mother used to buy clothes and hide them at the top of the wardrobe and put them on several weeks later and when my step-father would say "Is that new" she would flat out lie and say "What, this? Really Norman I have had it for ages" and he would feel guilty. It always worked for her and I must say I used the method several times, never being caught out. As someone who only speaks one language, I think that you do amazingly well!!

You've lost so much weight it is not surprising you need a new wardrobe in much, much smaller sizes. I'm glad you're enjoying the variety in styles and colors that mfg seem to reserve to "smaller" sizes. I understand you not wanting to spend $ on alterations but if you have a real favorite in a larger size, perhaps that could be altered. Does your area have consignment shops? Perhaps you could make a few bucks by reselling your now too big items? Let us know how your dr.'s appointment goes this a.m. Will be thinking of you. :)

Awesome on the smaller clothes!!

I definitely think you should hang on to your favorite pieces, but hold off on alternating them until you're close to/at goal. That way, you wont have to spend lots of money getting them shrunk numerous times. Also, I'd try to find a resale shop for your gently worn clothes. That way, you can make money off of them and perhaps buy yourself something cute and inexpensive from there in your current size. Im sure you're not the only lady in Portugal who is losing weight and selling her old clothes out there. :)

I'll be checking in a lot today to see how your appointment goes. By the way, is the is the same doctor you used to see for your weigh-ins? If so, they will be shocked by your progress. If not, make sure the doctor knows about your amazing journey!! 108lbs gone is amazing!!

Sorry you have more xrays & pills but the important thing is that your dizziness/blackouts are investigated. It sounds like you're in very good hands. :)

Maybe the pills won't have to be permanent...I hate taking meds of any sort,even asprin...As far as the clothes goes well if you can't find any one to give them to well like sweetpea said you can always try to take them to a resell shop...I have held on to a pair of a few jeans that I bought when I first started my diet and some of them i have never worn so i am sending them to you! :)

I loved reading your entry, Kathy! That's a wonderful feeling when the clothes start fitting better, when you have to buy new clothes, it's so full of positive energy! So sorry to hear about your back problem. I think the tendency is to get better as you lose weight, am I wrong? Have a great day!

Sorry to hear about your spine and having to take a pill. Hopefully it's not your exercises that are bothering it and it will sort itself out. That's awesome news on fitting into a new size, always exciting! I have an entire wardrobe waiting for me when I get to goal weight, I packed it up in a box when i got pregnant the first time and there it sits. I've actually pulled a few pieces out here and there that I can wear, but most of it will have to wait. Something to look forward to! Oh, and I donate all my clothes when they become too large for me. The same with my boys' clothes as they outgrow them. I can't stand the thought of throwing out perfectly good clothes.

I was sad to hear that the problem is probably going to be ongoing, but glad that you can have medication for it. Rather than resent the pill be glad that there is a treatment. This is what I say to myself when I take my five tablets every night. You focus on the good stuff that is happening in your life and the new woman you are becoming.:)

Good morning, Ladies!

I'm a bit worried today . I had a terrible night, each time I tried to turn in the bed, the world would turn with me... basically, I almost blacked out or have blacked out, I don't know because I was sleeping and couldn't wake fully up. Then in the morning I woke up to go to the tennis, and I was dressing up, and almost blacked out again. I wanted to measure my blood pressure with my wrist measurer device but I couldn't find the damned thing ... and I suspect it doesn't have batteries because the neighbor always asks for it and then uses out the battery. Of course, she never substitutes the battery, why on Earth would she do such thing...

So, I'm back on coffee, and I want to go to the doctor next month. Just to be sure it won't happen again, or at least it stays documented.

I made it to the tennis anyways, because I figured out moving and jumping would help, and it did, now I'm fine...

Don't you know, girls, low blood pressure can cause headaches and nauseas? (NO, I'm NOT pregrant... it's impossible, as my man is in the stress phase of not wanting sexual relationship so we have it like once in two months... Terrible, right? He really needs to change his job...)

Update: The French course starts today, YAYYYYYY...


Today's menu:

06H00 - a soy yogurt and 4 whole weat cookies (250 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee and a cereal bun (250 kcal)

13H00 - 2 cereal buns with a sardine tin in tomato sauce, a green mango (600 kcal)

16H30 - 2 LF yogurts (100 kcal)

2 small pears and 2 peaches (300 kcal)

Grand total: 1500 kcal


UPDATE: I booked the doctor for tomorrow. I have the appointment at 10AM... I will tell you by then!

Progress as of today: 108 lbs lost so far, only 58.2 lbs to go!

Too much information Kathy!!LOL I think that you had better go to the doctor straight away, blacking out or almost blacking out is not good. I hope you find out what is causing it.............soon. Have a good day anyway.

Wow, scary! I'd definitely try to see the doctor ASAP. As I've gotten older, my doctor has noticed that I have random incidents of low blood pressure readings. After she saw it, she asked if I had been feeling ok. I said yes, besides the nausea and constant headaches. She didnt really have a solution for it other than to monitor it.

However, part of me wonders if you are suffering from anemia, vertigo, or an inner ear infection (which may affect balance)since you had a bad cold/flu recently. Try looking up those three conditions online (mayoclinic.com is a great medical website) and see if any of those sound like you.

I hope you can see the doctor soon so you can get some questions answered!

Glad you're feeling better but, like the others, think it's worth seeing a doctor as blacking out or nearly blacking out doesn't sound normal. An ear infection could definitely do it so it's probably something that can easily remedied. Hope your day continues to be a good one! :)

Kathy, I hope you'll feel better. I do have low blood pressure, myself, so I do know about the dizziness, headaches, etc. Most people don't understand and appreciate the seriousness of this condition, they just think we are lucky to have low blood pressure... I agree with everyone who says that you must take this seriously and talk to a doctor. Blacking out is not to be taken lightly! And, yes, your man should get a less stressful job, LOL!

i am running out the door for my daily fix so i will read and post later...i made leand pork ribs and put buffalo sauce on them, It is a spicy hot sauce, not actually from any part of buffalo, although I have tried buffalo, i didn't like it! LOl Have a good day ;)

I've had buffalo/bison meat via a buffalo/bison burger. Its extremely lean and actually not that bad for you when you compare it to farm-raised beef (cow). I disagree with V, I think its pretty tasty! :)

Let us know what the dr. says. I had some odd episodes awhile back that turned out to be inner ear. It passed, but I didn't black out at all just had the world turning as you said. The fact that it passed and you did tennis is a good sign.....re motivation - I don't understand why I don't have it. I've always loved to exercise. Sometimes we must do what we don't feel like because it is the right thing - but I hear you about all the "have to's" in our lives!

The room spinning thing could definately be leftover from cold/flu in your sinus. I've had that. Took while to clear up. However,did not have the nearly blacking out thing. If it happens again, do not wait to go to the Doctor. Go immediately. Take care.

Sis, I always get that room spinning sensation. It's so scary! After my attack I get nausea and a feeling like I want to regurgitate. Doctor said it was Meniere's Disease. Has something to do with the inner ear. So check yourself out sis, because those feelings are no fun. Doctor may prescribe, motion sickness pills. Twice a month?,,,sista girl, get him some vitamins :) :) :) At my age, when or if I get married again, I would LOVE to do twice a month or maybe once a year! just kidding :) :) :) xoxo

Morning, Sweet Things !

How are you today? I'm OK.... Yesterday I had a nice HidroPower class at night. If the French course doesn't start today, I go today, too. I brought the equipement... 

Nights are getting colder, and we started to use an extra cover last night. It was soooo good, I slept like a baby. I'm already afraid of tomorrow when I have to leave that comfy, not-too-cold-not-too-hot-but-simply-perfect bed at 5.30 AM. But then, TENNIS is something very attractive, even @Seven in the morning...

News: I have a bike now. I bought it from a friend who left Portugal for good, and did a sale at her house. My man went to pick up the bike, on foot, and we had a big discussion at night over some extra towels and a boiling pan my friend sent to me along with the bike... He had to carry things home and he hurt himself on the leg with the pedal of the bike... I didn't want to pick up a fight, because I had a headache after the pool. I'm still not 100%, but 90%.

Operation COFFEE - STOP: Failed today. Will restart it right away. Maybe once a week is OK? Ahh, Why do I want to stop coffee-ing? Because I am unable to drink it without milk, and I get 100-200 unnecessary calories per day because of this. The problem is, every morning we (girls at work) sit down and drink a coffee, chitty-chatting. Maybe I should drink a tea instead, but a coffee is faster to make!


Today's menu:

08H00 - LF milk w/ LF cocoa powder and black sugar, cereals (350 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal), an apple (50 kcal)

13H00 - salad (veggies) with natural tuna and esparregado (asparagus cream, has semi-skimmed milk and flour), a half mango (650 kcal)

17H00 - two LF yogurts and some salty small cookies (200 kcal)

20H00 - 2 slices of rye bread w/ soy margarine, veggies raw and an egg, soy pudding (400 kcal)

Grand total: 1750 kcal

Progress as of today: 108 lbs lost so far, only 58.2 lbs to go!

i was just thinking the same thing about my coffee calories yesterday, i only like it with milk/cream, n lately have really been piling on the calories by adding cold cream + whipped cream on top :( but its so good, and since its still kinda new to me, i dunno if i can stop soon, but i think im gonna allow myself that morning cup, and just try to avoid the late night ones i drink to stay up later to watch movies... ahhhh well hope u have a great day! :)

Good morning Kathy! You are going to love that bike of yours, yay! Your husband is so nice to drag the thing for you on foot along with towels and a boiling pan, ha! Your bed does seem nice and comfy - are you being sarcastic when you say that tennis is attractive at 7 in the morning?....

Now I get it why you stopped drinking coffee... I was wondering why one would do that to such an innocuous and tasty beverage. Now I understand! I make tea for myself when Husband is not around because it's easier to make (for me) as I don't have those fancy Nesspresso type of coffee maker, but I always add milk or cream to my tea, as well... it does cease being an innocuous drink after that.

Okay forgive me for being a little oblivious because I don't put anything in my coffee, but is it possible to switch to a non or low fat milk or even a non dairy creamer????? I am laughing in agreement with Selina's comment, those are my sentiments as well it really did bring a tear to my eye when you said you were giving up coffee! LOL

Cool beans on the bike! As for the coffee, I cannot give it up. And I use regular half and half (all natural milk and cream) in it. However - this goes much further than skim milk in terms of lightening the coffee. So I only use 2 tablespoons per mug. At 2 mugs a day that's 78 calories, which I'm willing to deal with. There's also fat-free half and half but I'm not sure if you would need to use more of that. Anyway, good luck with it - with 2 little ones I cannot function without it!

Ha! apple cooked in milk sounds good too! But in my case, I made a muesli with all those ingredients. You know that in Europe you can find all kind of fancy muesli mixtures... Here, I haven't looked for them, yet, so I concocted my own version, hehe

But you must try clam chowdr in a good restaurant first. I had my very first clam chowder when I was 22 y.o. in Eugene, Oregon, while traveling along the West Coastal States. And I was hooked for life. I have never been back to Eugene, OR, and did not spend more than one day in that town,then, but I will always remember it because of the clam chowder....

I have never had espadarte no carvao, but it sounds amazing!

Oatmeal - if you've had muesli, you've had oatmeal. Calories are 150cals for 1/2 cup dry. 1/2 cup dry makes a lot! I usually make 1/4 cup and add the fresh fruits to cook... It tastes good when you add raisins, too. I like muesli because the fruits and nuts in it make the oatmeal sweeter.

ah, now I understand the no coffee thing you were doing! I use a non-dairy creamer in my coffee. Its 10 calories per teaspoon for the regular stuff and even less for the lite non-dairy creamer. If I use milk in my coffee it is always skim/fat-free milk. And I try to not use more than 1/2 cup of it with my coffee. 1/2 cup of fat-free milk is 45 calories.

hard to break old habits! I'm not a coffee drinker and start the morning out with a glass of water mixed with Emergency C. It's amazing how you can get your body use to a routine. If I don't have water when I first wake up I really feel it!

Kathy, you have never failed until you give up. We need to keep getting up after we have a failure. You know how to overcome difficulties and I am sure you can succeed at anything that you have set your mind to.

They are so convenient,,, no cooking, just open the can and eat. I will have to search for a quick replacement type of meat. 5th DAY WITHOUT COFFEE

Good morning, Ladies! 

I'm much better. My voice is back to normal. Still have the cough but it will go away, too. Bad news is, no news about the French course. The Portuguese government still has to answer (give the formal 'OK') the school's aquisition for opening more classes. Dang. And you know how it works - bad!

I had tennis today - was perfect. I'm a bit tired of yesterday's tennis + badminton, but I'm always happy to play so... no cry.

Today's menu:

06H00 - a slice of vollkornbrot (on the image below, German Whole Rye Sourdough bread as sweetpea kindly informed :-) ) with a tomato and some soy margarine and LF milk (300 kcal)

11H00 - a LF yogurt (60 kcal)

13H00 - green pepper filled with seitan and whole rice in the oven, other cooked veggies (600 kcal)

14H00 e 16H30 - a soy yogurt (330 kcal)

21H00 - a mango and 1 cookie before sleeping (200 kcal)

Grand total: 1500 kcal

That bread looks wonderful. I had to look up the translation for it and oh my, that sounds wonderful! I wonder if there is a German bakery that sells it here! Anyway, tomato sounds like an excellent accompaniment for such a hearty piece of bread. :)

Hello, girls!

No fever, don't worry! I have cough now, but it will go away soon! :-) Today I had an hour of tennis and an hour or two light badminton with family. Instead of eating and lying on the sofa, I suggested badminton and they accepted. So we went to our workplace and picked up the raquets (I have only 3...LOL) and the shuttlecocks, and went back to grandma's to play outside. Fun time!

I had a good day with food as well. I had cake (birthday cake) but the dose was OK FINALLY I could resist the temptation of "having an other slice"... 

Grand total: 1700 kcal

PS: Down 2 lbs... not bad.... :-) It's time to set a new weight mini-goal. I want to be 200 lbs (90 kg) by the beginning of December. Let's see.

THIRD DAY WITHOUT COFFEE...

Gotta run to Pilates now! Kisses to all of you... yesterday I fell back in the illness and couldn't make it to the hidropool class. Had to come home, lie down with fever and nauseas... Dang. I suspect the air-conditioning at work, too.

Update at 9PM: Well, this was a FULL day. Went to Pilates and had a nice session of PowerPool... We had lunch with friends at the Indian restaurant. Then, we went to the Tastes' Market, a huge market of Portuguese food manufacturers of each region of Portugal. Lot's of Port Wine and fine Portuguese cousine, whole grain bread, fruits and veggies. I got a very tasty dried tomato gourmet stuff from my man. :-) And I bought him goat butter and Portuguese cheese (LOVE Portuguese cheese, too bad I cannot eat it because of the fat).
After the Market, we went to the Technological Fair at the EXPO area... 3 pavillions of Portugese companies innovative products. It was really good. Well, we walked a loooot... basically, from 3 PM to 8 PM I didn't rest anything. We haven't even sat down for a minute or two... I'm so tired.


Today's menu:

08H00 - LF milk w/ black sugar and LF cocoa powder, cereals (350 kcal)

12H30 - an apple (60 kcal)

13H30 - chicken biriani, half dose with some indian bread (500 kcal)

Good morning, Ladies!

SECOND DAY WITHOUT COFFEE...

I'm better today . Yesterday my Man was in a bad mood also, so we decided to lick our wounds in a Japanese restaurant. We went to our fav place and... taram... CLOSED for good. Then we went to an other, 2nd favorite, no problem. We had a great evening together, talking a bit. Sometimes it's really needed. We are often don't conversate that much at home... TV and PC are modern life's threats on the relationships. And then, I like to go to bed early, he is a night owl... Have to live with that.

Today I went to tennis. I was all way stressed on the bus, because Lisbon was under strong rain yesterday and I couldn't decide if there would be training or not, because of the court's state. If the court is wet, they don't hold trainings... Then I arrived and ... MIRACLE. The courts were more or less OK so the training went well. Tonight I proceed to HidroPower class, too. TOM's gone and the flu... well, it's here but no fever so far.


Today's menu:

06H00 - a cup of fruits, processed 100% fruits (100 kcal)

08H30 - 2 cookies (100 kcal)

11H00 - a pear (50 kcal)

13H00 - grilled chicken w/ salad and mushrooms, a green mango from Israel (750 kcal)

16H00 - two yogurts (a soy and a normal LF yogurt) and 2 salt cookies (200 kcal)

19H00 - a mango and a slice of rye bread with a triangle cheese, medicine (300 kcal)

Grand total: 1500 kcal


Have to lay low, yesterday I had at least 2000 kcal total because of the sushi at night...

My husband is a software developer (computer geek). He writes software programs for several big companies in the movie theater industry. The conference he is attending is for software developers of all kinds and the conference is so casual that he gets to wear t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops. Lucky!! I had to wear business suits and high heels to my conferences!!

Kathy, you certainly have a soft spot for cats and are easier on their stinky behaviour. I'm afraid that in this case Inky is definetly the culprit of the early demise of the poor squirrel. The fact is that there are so many oak trees around my house and the squirrels love eating the nuts - I see dozens of squirrels every day in my back yard. And Inky catching one of them was just a matter of time... it took long but she was persistent. Poor squirrel.

Morning, Ladies!

I'm a bit down today. I had an eating frenzy yesterday at 7 PM. I suspect the flu medication, it makes me hungry as a wolf... I haven't had anything bad, just the usual: dosage issue. Why did I eat 3 peaches, a plum, two tomatoes and 2 slices of rye bread with a triangle cheese, all at once, at 7PM? Dunno... Cannot explain...

And in addition, flu itself is killing me... I hate it so much.

I couldn't make it to the gym. I got half deaf yesterday afternoon, and today morning I just didn't feel like getting up. This is one of those days I'd like to stay on the sofa, reading my funny Animal Hotel book, sipping a Yogi Tea with cinnamon and honey... Costs me too much to be at work.

Yesterday I was invited to a wedding, an old friend of mine asked me to be her testemony (the one who signs the book, what's the correct word? I couldn't find it in the dictionary). 13th November, Budapest. I have to treat the plane ticket (my Man got crazy because the ticket is not that cheap and he always cries over these unforeseen payments, especially if it's a wedding - he doesn't like them.) and then, clothing... I just don't know what clothes to wear, I don't have anything, especially not in this actual size and I don't want to buy anything because I'm going to lose more weight and it would be money threw out of the window... And you know how it goes, ceremony clothings are always ridiculously high-priced...

The weather is cra..py today. It can easily result in NO TENNIS tomorrow. And I have a game booked for Sunday, 9 AM to 11 AM... Hope it realizes, I DESERVE IT....

I am so negative today, girls... I have to tell you, it's getting more and more difficult to keep the 1400 kcals - ok, it's not true, I actually haven't been able to make it for a long time now. I suspect that I really overestimate my kcal intake, brutally overestimate (for example a 300 kcal breakfast in reality is like 150-200 kcal, and I write 100 kcal for a 60 kcal yogurt, piece of fruit, etc., and my lunches, I really cannot estimate those so I always put them very high, to 400-800 kcal) them. And I'm so confused because I'm seeing the numbers, so high, in heart knowing that everything's OK because I'm losing weight and I don't feel bloated/full, I'm doing exercise on a regular basis... and after all these, I'm so down.


Today's menu:

08H00 - a slice of volkornbrot with soy margarine and LF milk and a paprika (350 kcal)

10H00 - tea (50 kcal)

11H00 - a pear (50 kcal)

13H00 - home made rice and chicken with cabbage (400 kcal), a LF dessert (65 kcal) and a bit of "rock" ROCHA portuguese whole grain sweet bread (200 kcal)

14H00 - a soy yogurt (80 kcal)

17H00 - a LF yogurt (70 kcal)

foreseen: 19H00 - SUSHI RESTAURANT TO CHEER OURSELVES UP (my man also has a bad day)

Grand total: 1300 kcal + sushi restaurant...


WEIGHT UPDATE: I'm still at 99,9 kgs (220,3 lbs) so I updated. We'll celebrate when I'm at 99 or below. It can happen easily, as TOM's here and yesterday's feeding frenzy didn't help on the scale either. Hopefully the scale will change by next week. Weigh in on 30th - though I've already reached my mini-goal (below 100 kgs by the end of September), it will turn official on the 30th and we'll have a great party around here!!!!

Sorry you're feeling negative. We all know that definitely isn't like you. I suspect much of that is because you just don't feel well. Chin up, sweetie. You ARE doing soooo well. Look at everything you've accomplished! You're eating healthy, getting in fabulous exercise. You're entitled to feel down on occasion but I know you'll get out of your funk once you start feeling better. You've lost a small person in weight so be proud of yourself and know better days are ahead! :)

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well and that you are feeling down =( my suggestion for you in regards to the overestimating calories is to take one day and actually right down the real amount of calories and see what it amounts to....for example if it comes out to 1200 then it would be a simple fix of eating merely a banana ((about 120 calories)) and a glass of milk ((80calories for nonfat)). That would make up the 200 difference and bring you to your 1400 goal. Don't get discouraged if you are only a few hundred short! Trust me I'm going through this in a completely different way whereas I read that I will need to start consuming 300 extra calories for my baby during my pregnancy...and at first I freaked out because I can barely get in my daily allowance...but in reality 200-300 extra calories is only a bowl of bran cereal with milk and a banana a day...or similar combinations. So unless you are severely restricting less than 1000 calories in reality, than you really don't need to eat that much more to get to your daily goal. Hope that helps!

Coentro is an acquired taste, I know. I hated it until about 10 years ago, but I love it now. What changed me was the excellent Thai cook that my friend used to have and she usued coriander profusely in her cuisine.

Feijoada is not good for your diet if you put all kinds of fatty meats and sausages, like in the traditional dish in Brazil. I learned to make an alternative black bean soup on the Queen Mary 2 which is very healthy and approved by the health experts that ran the fitness club and spa on the ship http://www.canyonranchspaclub.com/queen_mary_2/dining/ Well, I actually don't have a recipe, but I did eat the soup and was able to replicate on my own, using only healthy ingredients. It does taste fantastic!

:( Sorry to hear you are feeling so sad. Im sure being stuck with the flu is the main culprit. Being sick interferes with life!! I wouldnt worry about the extra calories right now. The extra fruits and veggies you are eating are filled with vitamins and minerals, which your body needs to fight the flu bug! Just stay away from the unnecessary protein and bready carbs and focus on the vitamin C rich fruits and veggies.

My sister got extremely depressed when she got the flu so dont beat yourself down. Youre already doing well by pointing out the positive. Yes, pregnancy has always given me bizarre dreams. I still remember a few that I had while pregnant with Ethan. One was of me wearing a specific outfit and learning that my water broke. I even remembered a specific date (month/day/year) and time from the dream. I thought this dream was a prediction of when he was going to be born 8.5 days after the date and time I dreamed about. :) Oh, and reading a scary book before bedtime could be another reason for this particular nightmare!

Our minds can play tricks on us, causing us to feel, like we haven't accomplished a lot. Nothing could be further from the truth. You are our trophy of success. I overate in calories yesterday (2100 kcal) and I had to eat after 19PM to get the medicine afterwards. It wasn't too bad, at 20h00. I bought fruits for home, FINALLY I have the fridge in a better shape. We're very short on money this month, still have a few days to survive. At least we're not starving, nor the cats.

I feel better today, no more sore throat. The nose is running, though. I went to tennis, played well... I gave 5-2 to the other guy, then I felt bad because he celebrates his birthday today and I should have let him win. But he didn't give a fight...

$6.99 for a box of 8 large mangoes from Brazil. That's a really good promotion price, though. They are not normally that price. However, overall, I'm finding that everything here is so CHEAP comparatively! It costs only a little more than $30 to fill up a tank of gas, in Geneva I used to pay over $100 for the same thing!

Good News Sis,,,,Glad you're feeling better. Sorry about meatless Wednesday,,, My oldest daughter chose today to treat me out for lunch. Not many choices, for meatless eating, where we went. Didn't want to hurt her feelings and cancel, so I did my best. to just cut down on the meat. I need to do meatless AT HOME,, ALONE! Keeping it real. Sis,,did you kick his but on his B-Day? Good morning, Ladies!

Thank you so much for the support and caring. It means a lot to me!  I don't have a fever, I have a sore throat and my nose is running. Hopefully it won't develop into nothing more serious... My heart would bleed if I'd be forced to skip the tennis training tomorrow morning, nor Friday.

By the way, I'm a bit better today  - haven't been to hidro class yesterday. No worries, tomorrow I go. Today I'm not doing anything (hadn't been to gym as planned, though I was fully awaken at 5 AM but sore throat was still killing me and I'm not really OK with my stomach either...), MAYBE the French course starts today - no one knows anything! GRRR... I'm so without patience!!!


Today's menu:

08H00 - LF milk w/ coffee and cereals (300 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee at work, with 2 cookies (300 kcal)

11H00 - a pear (100 kcal)

12H45 - a slice of grilled turkey breast w/ pasta (500 kcal)  went to the vegetarian restaurant (invititation of ex-colleague) and had a mushroom crépe with veggies. It was excellent, as always. Then I had a soy yogurt as dessert (700 kcal)

16H00 - bio soy yogurt and a slice of toast (200 kcal)

20H00 - lecso and a little bread with an egg, soy margarine (500 kcal)

Grand total: 2100 kcal

Progress as of today: 102.2 lbs lost so far, only 64 lbs to go!

I am sorry that you are sick and that people are messing you around. Don't let it get on top of you. You just keep going doing what you know works for you. I hope your health improves and that you are able to get back to the gym soon.

i am sure nothing would stop you from the training classes...it might help you sweat out whatever you are coming down with :) BTW your hair does not look like a bird's nest! LOL you are too funny
