I'm starting to write my day 10 earlier, as I'm still working. I just came back from tennis (two hours!), an other 4 sets of triumph (6-2, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3)... LOL, the boy, my colleague was soooo sad. I should have let him win once or twice.. but then again, I'm a Leo... can't help it.


Thank you so much for your support! You are so great, we're such a powerful community and I love you so much!!! Understanding, inspiring and lovely all the time! 

You're right, I shouldn't be so hard on myself because of the sangria. It's just that, after I had realized I had drunk that with loads of sugar, my guilt level raised so much that I felt those 95 lbs coming all back in a sudden... Have you ever felt something like this?

I do have a crappy week, so far only bad things happened at work. Some unidentified errors, clients complaining, saying stockholders are waiting for the reports (I'm working in Business Intelligence, as a programmer so I build their precious reports), NOTHING's working properly and I'm going on vacations next week. When I stay home, I always work. They don't let me live, call me, bug me all day. Last holiday (it was a NATIONAL holiday!) I received 12 calls between 7am - 9am. And we don't have support... so they just happened to call me, help help help... SOS... The Titanic is sinking and only you can tap the hole... well, this time it will be different because I'm receiving one of my best friend and her family (hubs+2 yr old daughter)... and I won't be available at any rate....


Today's menu:

07H00 - an apricot (50 kcal)

09H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

11H00 - a yogurt (50 kcal)

13H00 - 2 quails (argh, still have one at home) grilled, veggies and mushrooms, a mango (500 kcal)

16H00 - a yogurt (60 kcal)

17H00 - an orange and 5 toasts (300 kcal)

19H30 - 2 toasts (the rest :-)) and a yogurt (150 kcal)

22H30 - a finnish rye toast with a triangle LF cow cheese and veggies and a peach (150 kcal)

Grand total:1500 kcal

How about if you tell them you will not be available while you are on holiday. Turn the phone off - although you think you are essential to work (being a Leo) they will get on without you - they will have to. Well done with the tennis, girl, poor boy but I understand completly your need to compete - and win!!!!!

Yea, I've felt that way after a bad day of eating. But, the important thing is that you are consciously aware of the sinfully delicious drink's ingredients. The old you wouldn't have thought twice about it. This type of knowledge is a powerful weapon on a weightloss journey. You will continue to lose because you are consciously aware of what is going into your mouth now. And also know that is ok to treat yourself to forbidden food and drink every now and then. :)

Wow, your employer has some nerve! Like the others have said, turn off your phone while you are vacation. You are a hard worker that deserves a break!

Yes, I've felt like this and it's just one of the "myths" that our old selves would have believed...but...it's a LIE. You have legitimately lost those 95 lbs and you deserve to have lost them - you worked to lose them and you are to be commended for losing them! GOOD FOR YOU - not giving into that false guilt. False because you have nothing to feel guilty about! I mean, personal responsibility is one thing, but what, you're supposed to go the rest of your life without a sangria, wine or any other "treats" for yourself? I don't think so! Well planned treats are the spice of life. They are all the more enjoyable because when we plan them we can enjoy them without any remorse or guilt feelings. (for example, I am planning a treat for myself this month on an appropriate day - an ice cream store here in the states - Dairy Queen - is having an anniversary special the whole month of August - Mini Blizzards for $1.00 - they are small and I think I can budget one into my calories on a special day). Steer clear of others who are not supportive to your new lifestyle. Enjoy the day - enjoy LIFE!

She may just not want to discuss what's gone on since she last posted. We are a pretty accepting bunch here, so I just hope she is OK!

Good morning Ladies!

Well, I'm a bit pissed today. Yesterday we went to this bbq party, my man's sister held it at their veranda... They were grilling sausages (Portuguese sausages, very high-fat, etc.), quails and pork chops. They served cookies, all Portuguese high-fat, high-sugar cookies, and a home-made cake out of meringe (we know it's plain sugar, yeah...). And my man made sangria at home the day before.

So what did I do: I took a tupperware with soy soup, and a sweet (apple puree 100%, 50 kcals) and said I'd behave. And I did, actually. The only thing I had: sangria. I really loved it, and I said: so, this is wine, I shouldn't drink but in 6 months this is the first time, and it tastes so good, so cold, with ice and fruit doesn't do any harm. Yeah... So I had my soup, I had 4 quails (I bet not even four would give a chicken leg) with lots of salad (lettuce and tomatoes with vinagre and olive oil), a bbq corn (lovely!) and at the end I had my apple puree. Good.

But today morning my <3 said: "You drank 3 cups of sangria yesterday, I noticed... it was your choice but you must know it had looots of sugar in it." Well, thanks... :-( I hate this, everyone is to undermine my diet??? Why don't they understand that it's really hard for me to see sausages and cakes and say "no, thanks" constantly... they insist of course, my sister-in-law's husband is thin as a rake and he didn't let me go, always asked: "Why don't you eat this, why don't you try the cake, and the sausage, etc. etc.".... Why, because I cannot do that. I won't do it, because it's my choice, this is my life, my body... They always give the excuse "Oh but this is Sunday, Sunday's special". For me it's not special, it's just a harder day than others because I'm not distracted by work or anything else, I'm at home, few steps from the fridge, in 107 F's thinking constantly about the cold stuff in there... Come on, I have issues, and it's really difficult to behave... If I let myself go on Sundays, I let myself go on other days and I want to change... I want to get out of my food problem, I don't want to overeat, I don't want to eat stuff my body doesn't need, and finally I don't have stomach problems which I had before, I feel great and I want to continue like this.

But people don't understand, do they? Because they don't want to, or don't have the necessity (for now!) to be careful what they eat. I do, it is my choice!

So, today I feel awful. Headache and guilt, and things don't go smooth here at work either... I'm trying to think of yesterday's motto... and the small triumph of not eating any fatty cakes and sausages...

Today's menu:

08H00 - a peach (100 kcal)

09H30 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

12H30 - a bean soup (200 kcal), a grilled quail with tomatoes and lettuce (350 kcal) and an orange (horrible one, imported from Urugay...) (50 kcal)

A quail:

15H00 - a soy yogurt (100 kcal)

16H30 - a nectarine (100 kcal) and LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

17H30 - a soy yogurt (100 kcal)

22H00 - a nectarine and a plum (150 kcal)

Grand total: 1400 kcal

Today I have more 2,5 hours of tennis!!! YUPEEEEYAY!!!! :-)

Progress as of today: 95.2 lbs lost so far, only 71 lbs to go!

Haha Well you did way better then me and my BBQ fiasco. I hate all the damn BBQs people have in the summer. It makes sticking to my plan so much harder.

When I was at the BBQ my husband couldn't drink because he was driving and so people kept putting drinks in my hand instead. Saying hey just drink his share too. Yeah and after I get 2 drinks in me... thats it I start knocking them back like it was my lifes mission. (brain off) My head hurts... my bones ache. Why do some people do this on a daily basis?... I just don't get it. Drinking is just so gross. I feel like a bloated whale thats been smacked in the head a few to many times. blah....

My half sister is a size 0 *rolls eyes* she eats whatever she likes and still doesn't gain weight. Drives me up the wall... Why didn't I get that? So I know your pain. Hang in there. I hope tomorrow is better.

awww im sorry ur feeling bad today, i dont understand people either, my bf is pretty supportive with my diet, but my X was sooo not, he would buy me food even after i said plz do not, and then when i wouldnt eat it, he would get mad and not eat his, until the guilt of seeing him not eat his, made me eat mine... people r so inconsiderate and do not understand the importance of weight loss to others. it sucks :( i hope u feel better, have a great day!

not good when you have to go to BBQ but congratulations doing so well a couple of glasses wouldn't of done any harm as long as it isn't all of the time the food part very impressive though I don't think I could of done it surrounded by all of that yummy sounding food. What am I missing? To me it sounded like your guy was trying to be supportive, by pointing out that sangria can be one of those "traps" -- innocent looking but loaded. I guess my retort would have been, "Why didn't you say this to me BEFORE I refilled my glass instead of the NEXT DAY???!!!" (Like telling you the next day is going to help...)

I myself would have a hard time refraining from adding a loud, obnoxious "DUH!!!" at the end of that...

I think you did pretty darn well, better than I would have ever been able to do. Your determination is awesome and maybe those around you just don't understand. That's okay, you know. As long as you keep doing what's best for you!

I agree w/legcramps. You did very well amidst that array of "bad" food!Drinking sangia once every 6 months is no big deal. Keep on as you have been. You are on the road to success.

I think you did a great job at the bbq - you took your own food, which is a great strategy for staying on track. So you drank some sangria, no big deal. It won't ruin all of your great efforts you've put in to lose weight. You really are doing a fantastic job, and are a big inspiration to me! Hope your day improves.

Dont be so hard on yourself. You did absolutely wonderful around all those delicious sounding fat-filled foods. I think you are entitled to a enjoy a few glasses of sangria after a 6 months of behaving perfectly with your weightloss diet. Im glad you treated yourself to something you haven't had in a long time. One should never deprive themselves of anything...its all about moderation. And now that you've had some, you can move on and resume your healthy lifestyle. :-)

Sorry your day started out lousy, hopefully you're feeling better by now. I don't think it's a big deal that you had sangria, a little wine and fruit can be good for you ;) And you resisted all that other bad stuff. I know what you mean about people being insensitive - it happened to me a lot when I was at my goal weight. Comments like "You don't have to watch how much you eat, you're thin." Duh ;)

Well, there is just no accounting for other people! Some have a hidden agenda (can you say sabatage) others are just nosey, some are rude and some just don't want us to change - they like the status quo, and some just need to feel better about themselves by putting others down! I've got news for all those in all categories - it's got nothing to do with you. I have learned to let comments just go about a mile past my head. We are all bound to be a little sensitive once in awhile. You may consider saying sweetly with a small smile: "Thanks for your concern. I only discuss my meal plans with my doctor" Do not be drawn into it, don't justify your choices and try to go ahead and excuse their ignorance. They don't know what it's like to be you and their opinion does not count. Glad you vented. Don't back down! go-go-go!

Hello, girls!

MOTTO of the day: 

It's not what you do once in a while, it's what you do day in and day out that makes the difference.

The opera was FANTASTIC! I went with a colleague (my Man didn't want to go, I got a bit pissed because I don't drive and if Jorge wouldn't come then I wouldn't go which would have been very bad as I loooove the Il Barbieri.....).

It was a unique experience in the castle, I brought some (bad quality though) photos... forgive me for the quality... I hope it does deliver a message anyway:

OK this is a funny photo as I wanted to catch the castle behind and the BEST photo I got was this crappy one... now imagine the others, LOL....

 Today's menu:

11H30 - a slice of rye toast with a LF LC cheese, two slices of ham and veggies - some LF milk (200 kcal)

13H00 - barbecue at my man's sister's house... I had a soup, salad, grilled corn, and grilled little birds (quails) and a slice of bread and 3 grilled paprika's.... and 3 cups of sangria!!!!! ARGH..... BAD.... (let's say 1000 kcal)

19H00 - a peach (50 kcal)

21H00 - a yogurt (50 kcal)

Grand total: 1300 kcal

Normally, I do eat protein at all my meals (especially breakfast), but one of my many food adversions right now is protein. The only sources of protein my stomach seems to accept right now is Greek yogurt, cheese, and sometimes peanut butter. Of course, I am craving all the bad greasy meats like bacon, burgers, and meat covered pizzas but I am trying my best not to give in to those cravings. Hopefully, this morning sickness will end soon because I miss all my normal healthy foods (especially raw, steamed, and stirfried veggies and salads!).

I dont have a real gut feeling on what gender the baby is. All I know is that this pregnancy has been WAY different than the one I had with my son. Sometimes, I feel like this baby is testing me...which sounds like something a little girl would do. :) I dont know how people go without knowing the gender the entire time. I can't do it. I need to be mentally prepared for what lies ahead. Plus, I want to have a gender specific nursery and wardrobe ready when the baby arrives :)

Anyway, glad you had a great time at the opera. I love the idea of doing it at a castle vs some regular theater or opera house!

I bet that was quite and experience in that setting. Glad you enjoyed it.

And I'm going to continue sending that video link of the BBC special around, I have some family members who could stand to watch it (but they probably won't). My mother-in-law in particular lives on diet sodas, diet powdered drinks, diet breads and she is perpetually overweight. She now has major heart problems to boot. She eats very little real foods and she'll even flat out make remarks like "yuck" when I'm serving certain vegetables to my children. I've asked her not to do that - but that's the norm for a lot of people. I don't want my kids growing up thinking it's the norm though!

P.S. I actually didn't make the cake and therefore didn't eat any. As a matter of fact, I passed up dessert last night when everyone was having something. Wasn't something I really loved, though. The recipe was Guacamole Chicken Tostada. I'll post it on the forum if you want to see what's in it. It is served cold - room temp, at least and uses an already prepared Rotisserie Chicken from the market so it's QUICK & EASY!

I keep thinking of stuff to comment on your diary - you said on someone else's diary you were struggling to find cool stuff to eat/drink since it's so hot. I hear you - check out the smoothie recipe on the forum section that I posted a while ago. It has gotten me though the summer! You can make it even more low cal by using wataer instead of milk. The yogurt and banana give it a creamy texture.

I know and agree with you that airplane rides are tough, not the healthiest thing around... my longest plane trip was 36 hours from door to door (Tokyo, Japan - Sao Paulo, Brazil) . They do have exercises for the arms, legs, etc. Mild exercises, though. Very necessary because long plane rides could be deadly. In fact I was on a plane once where a guy died on the flight due to economy class syndrome (blood clot and heart attack) ...

btw If the coffee there is as strong as you say then I would love it! I am not into the whole pomp and circumstances of the Lattes, Frappes or any of that. I drink it plain cause what's the point when you dilute the taste with milk or sugar....What kind do you drink and might I find a website to order some Euro Roast??

Atlanta isnt as big as NYC or Chicago, but its one of the largest metropolitan areas in the Southeastern USA. I think loveray and I live about 20-30 minutes apart, which isn't too bad. We usually meet up in the middle somewhere to walk/hike but occasionally do a meal out together.

So how are the ladies today?

A sunny, hot Sunday - and I'm at work. LOL. PATHETIC!

But tonight I'm going to the OPERA! I'm going to see, OPEN-AIR in Óbidos castle (you know, the medieval fair photos, remember?) the opera: "il barbieri de Sevilla". :-) It will be great for sure. :-) Won't understand a thing as it will be sung in Italian but the music will be great. FIIIIGARO FIGARO FIIIIGAROOOOOOOOO.... :-)

Yesterday my calorie intake was high, so no scale for me until next Tuesday. Or Thursday, which is my birthday and I may give myself a nice gift of having gotten rid of some pounds since this week? AHHH Girls! :-) 

Today's menu:

10H00 - cacao with LF milk and cereals (300 kcal)

11H30 - a nectarine (100 kcal)

13H00 - veggie soup with toast (450 kcal) and a soy yogurt (100 kcal)

Food update for the night:

16H00 - a peach and a whole cookie (100 kcal)

You don't have a self-cleaning oven? I just got my first one about 3 years ago though they've been available for years. Basically, you just flip and a switch and the oven heats up so high that it burns off any grease, residue, etc and then you just wipe out the ashes w/a damp cloth. Still have to clean the racks by hand but that's ok by me.

You lucky girl - going to the opera! I'm so envious of you - I love the opera and haven't seen "il barbieri...," yet! And what a perfect setting/background to perform! Here, in Switzerland, they also have an opera season they perform at a famous old castle, nearby. Don't worry, usually they have an electronic translator that streams the subtitles for the ones who don't understand Italian... enjoy and tell us all about it! You deserve the break, after working on a Saturday...

I finally watched the documentary, it was amazing. I wish everyone on this site would watch it. I think how much people underestimate what they eat is a huge problem, and it's amazing someone could underestimate as much as the woman in this special did. Overall a great piece, thanks so much for posting.

Just got back from an other department. I had meetings all morning. Blagh... More work...

Ahh you asked me if I talked to the new guy - yes, he plays football only. Too bad. Hehehehe...

Today's menu:

08H00 - 2 prunes with a plain yogurt (150 kcal)

13H30 - a nectarine (100 kcal)

14H15 - pumpkin curry (had potatoes but what the hell) with veggies (450 kcal)

17H00 - 3 0%fat yogurts for the penalty of 200 kcals

18H00 - 2 toasts (100 kcal)

20H00 - green curry with salmon and a salad with vinagrette (stupid restaurant dishes, always come with these fatty sauces one cannot avoid especially if Man's in charge to buy the food while I'm hunting for a free table)... 800 kcal?

Grand total: 1800 kcal

Wonder if you had the time to check the video I posted yesterday. I just couldn't believe myself, that woman underestimating her calorie intake by 60% - but the same is written in Kesler's book (The End of Overeating). BTW I would love to have a test like she had, I mean - they acutally are able to measure the calorie intake from the urine... THAT'S AMAZING. I didn't know that... I would love to have a way to do this, like a pregnancy test or something, imagine: A scale that shows if you're under the Recommended Daily Dose or below, by urine.. WOW. :-)

And the other issue, with soup vs. solid food, now that was amazing, too. There are so many sayings about water vs. eating, and soups, etc. Now science arrives and shows us, simply, how it goes...

I have been EXTREMELY good about not buying clothes for an entire year, b/c I kept saying I'm not buying clothes until I lose weight, so he knows I need some stuff... Plus he just started a new job with a more formal dress code, so he literally just spent $400 on clothes... Last week when I had sushi, my weight was up 2# the next day, so I think the sodium in the soy sauce does me in, b/c the weight was gone the day after that...

OMG pumpkin curry - yum! Afghanistan style with yougurt on top is the BEST! I don't know how to make it, but when I go to the Afghgan restaurant, that's my favorite dish! Aside from the Eggplant dish... yum!

Thanks for the compliments yesterday (photo, haircut... ). I'm a bit upset today because my PC doesn't work as it should here at work.... They changed my settings and everything went crazy... ARGHHH... patience, please...

10H00 - coffee w/ LF milk (100 kcal) and a half whole cookie (50 kcal)

12H30 - white rice w/ eggs and veggies and fish (from tin, in hot tomato sauce) and a soy dessert (600 kcal)

16H00 - 2 plums (150 kcal)

17H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

21H00 - two finnish rye toasts, 2 triangle LF, LC cheese, veggies and a fried egg without fat (we have a special frying pan!) and a LF yogurt - 400 kcal

Grand total: 1500 kcal

This is a BBC documentary, and it's sooo true! You have to see this. Especially the ones who say they cannot lose weight... This will be a bit shocking, and it takes time (1 hour video) but it worths every second...

Enjoyed the videos, I think I have seen a similar series before, we often get English programs here in Australia. Didn't learn anything new but it confirms that the way I have chosen to diet is correct for me. I loved the short fat woman (just like me) who always thought she had a slow metabolism - don't all us fatties say that? lol I couldn't beleive the amount of food she under reported - how can you forget 60% of what you eat, or not write down 45% of what you eat. I write down everything I eat twice, once in my little book and once here.

Today the scale smiled at me and said: 231.04 lbs. :-))) (104,8 kg).

I took it for granted.

Today there won't be anything special I guess. The badminton fever is dying away unfortunately. But Portuguese are like this.

We have a new colleague. Looks sporty, I'm going to interview him later on, but I'm a Leo and I can be very ... invasive and he still looks scared so... LATER. In its due time. HEHEHEHE...

I went to the hairdresser's at 12h30. I feel freeeeee, I got rid of lots of hair! :-) Finally!

Today's menu:

07H45 - LF milk w/ some coffee and cereals (300 kcal)

10H00 - Half-Fat milk w/ some coffee (really need for WC purposes ) 150 kcal

13H00 - rice with speenach, garlic and eggs + soy dessert (550 kcal)

16H00 - a yogurt and a plum (100 kcal)

Glad you like the (rather gray) photo of Lucern. Will post some more.... They speak Swiss German in that part of the country - very different form Geneva area in so many ways: religion, language. Lots of Catholic Churches in Lucern, whereas Geneva is the Vatican of the Protestant Church...

There are 4 official languages spoken in Switzerland: French, Italian, Swiss German and Romanche (in the mountains)

Morning star farms is a brand of frozen vegetarian foods... They have like 10 different veggie burgers, vegetarian chicken nuggets, vegetarian sausage and bacon and recently they have started making vegetarian frozen meals... They are SUPER yummy and great to bring to a BBQ or for a quick lunch!

Great job on the weight loss!!

Oh, just thought I would add that I also LOVE MorningStar products. I use a lot of their products as "meat" toppings for salads. The burgers grill pretty well and cook pretty fast in a microwave. They also make veggie hot dogs, breakfast sausage, as well as "meat" crumbles (like ground beef/chicken) that you can use in meat sauces and etc. Very versatile and tasty stuff!

Glad you enjoyed my little paintings, thank you! I bet you'd make a very good artist yourself, but I'm glad, too, that you chose to go towards something more profitable. You can always pursue art later on. I have a degree in International Economics and studied IT in grad school, but eventually found my passion for painting and art at the young age of 40 (7 years ago!). I'm lucky that I have a husband who doesn't mind that I decided to pursue this route - there is very little money in it but lots of fun and self gratification. Life begins at 40, the old saying goes, and it's actually true for me! I'm lucky enough to be able to participate in 2-3 exhibits/year and I have done several solo exhibits as well. Just to be practical, I don't encourage my daughter to become an artist - I want her to be able to make a good living on her own, and if she is lucky enough, she can pursue it later... Just like my parents did to me.

Ahhh, great day so far, Ladies!

Yesterday I went to play tennis with a colleague. We were playing during TWO and a half hours. :-) Results were: 6-1, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4. Sixes all for me, THANKS.  I'm good. HAHAHAH... but I will be muuuuch better without these extra pounds I have, I will run faster, react faster, will be a healthier person that always goes well with sports.

And my colleague wants to play on a weekly basis, 1-2x a week, which is soooo cool!!! :-)

I'm VERY confused about the cake still. I am thinking in a carrot cake today, I've found a recipe which doesn't contain any added sugar nor white flour... Well, I have time!

Today's menu:

08H10 - a nectarine and a whole cookie (120 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

12H30 - tuna w/ asparagus, smashed and cooked together in a Wok with some plain LF yogurt on top (350 kcal) + mango (200 kcal)

14H30 - a soy dessert (yeah, HAD TO... , 120 kcal)

16H30 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

20H00 - two slices of whole grain bread w/ 1 triangle laughing cow cheese, veggies and a "tuna beef for kids" (500 kcal)

20H30 - a soy no-sugar-added-but-has-fat-250-kcal ice cream I still had in the fridge.. there's one left still... (250 kcal)

Grand total: 1900 kcal

Good morning! :-)

My man's birthday passed all right. I'm back to work... Next birthday will be mine already, on the 12th August. I want to make a cake. Everyone's mocking me because of the cake, I used to make delicious cakes... Of course they don't know but the ingredients I put are all whole grain, without added sugar, etc... But this time it has to be even more ... diet.

I bought whole grain flour this weekend, and... carob flour! Carob flour is like -30% calories than the normal flour, and it has an additional sweet - cocoa taste so I probably will be able to cut on sugars. I bought whole, black sugar also, and still there is something missing: dark chocolate. Most probably I will get a 70% cocoa dark chocolate or something diet... and I need to buy apricot jam.

I can share a photo of the cake, it's a hungarian traditional cake called Gerbauld (Zserbó) cake. The darker lines are made of apricot jam + nuts, and sugar. The light lines are the pastry: flour and eggs. Normally I substitute eggs with flaxseed... :

On the 11th Aug. I will make this! Anyone knows how to measure the calories of a home-made dish? Because I guess I cannot simply count the calories of each product I use and add up their individual calorie values to get an average of the final cake... can I? So, any ideias? I would really need to know it...

Today's menu:

08H00 - a slim slice of toast, a triangle cheese (LF, laughing cow) and some milk and beetroots (300 kcal)

10H30 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

12H30 - paprika filled w/ couscus and seitan in the oven, with 3 cooked veggies, soy dessert (dark chocolate flavour from Alpro) 600 kcal

16H30 - soy yogurt (200 kcal)

18H00 - a nectarine (100 kcal)

22H30 - a yogurt (60 kcal)

Grand total: 1400 kcal

In Australia with have a site called Calorie King(just google it), that might me useful for you. You must be able to buy calorie counting books where you live - you just have to add up each item you put into your cake and divide by the number of serves. Check the nutritional guide on the packets you buy. Good luck.

I use calorieking.com, too, but you can also go to allrecipes.com and search for a recipe like you are going to make, find one with similar measurements and ingredients and look at the nutritional chart for that recipe and go from there. I made a cake this weekend and I made sure I had plenty of folks around to eat it with me - I only had one piece and I gave the rest AWAY - with your birthday cake it shouldn't be a problem to "share" it away! Enjoy!

Could you post the cake recipe when you get a chance? It sounds interesting. As for counting calories for something homemade, I have just figured out the calories for the ingredients and add them all up. You get a total for the whole cake and then figure out the percentage per serving. It's kind of a pain, but worth it for some homemade things. I hope you have a great day!

I use Umpqua's method for counting calories when I make pizza. It's much easier to figure out the total and then how much for each portion.

I'm close to the two-hundred and TWENTIES now (weighed 231 today), but I won't update my weight because we go to a sushi/chinese mixed restaurant again... my Man's birthday today and we're going to lunch with the family...

Today's menu:

10H00 - LF milk with cereals (300 kcal)

13H00 - lunch @sushi restaurant... I had a plate of sushi with veggies and a plate of teppan yaki: veggies mostly, with some squids I really love... Then I had a small plate of melons and watermelons (squares)... and a very tiny bit of my man's birthday cake as he insisted but then I refused to eat a whole slice, it was way too sweet to me... No exceptions, it was really too sweet at this rate...

I've found a great way to control doses: TAKE A PICTURE FIRST! It's a huuuuuge help, as you can imagine. I was thinking: "OK, I take a photo and I post it on DD for my friends to see... but, will they say this is way too much? Should I bring an other plate in? But then I have to photograph a THIRD PLATE, no, better not... TWO is enough, all right!" So: this time I brought photos of this lunch!

this is: sushi, octopus salad and veggies in vinegar:

this is the teppan yaki: veggies, a fish and squid...

18H00 - two bananas (half rotten, I froze them to make an "ice-cream")

19H00 - a nectarine

I like the looks of the second plate above! YUM! Sorry about the frozen bananas. I don't know if you are interested or not, but for a frozen treat I have been making frozen smoothies that only have between 160-250 cals depending on what I put in them. I've posted recipes on Forum. I love smoothies, but the ones you get at the stores are so high cal so I came up with theee!

Kathy unfortunately there will not be cake on my birthday :( I just can't do it because my plan is to pick one guilty pleasure and it will probably be wine or vodka. I also plan to eat healthy as possible while I am there even though on vacation. I leave on the 15th so I still have 2 weeks to map out a healthy plan :)
