A week that starts out - let's say "not so great" does NOT have to end that way! You do NOT have to be perfect at this - there will be ups and downs. How did the family party go? It's hard to resist sweets - my personal favorites. I try to separate myself from them and try to feel different about them rather than feeling bad about myself for really liking them. It's almost like at the worst I believe they almost have control over me, but at the best they are only food and I have a choce. Does that make ANY sense?

Today's menu:

09h00 - a toast (whole wheat bread I bought yesterday), 2 slices of garlic and a laughing cow cheese (note: I loooove to eat hot toast with garlic and butter... my Man doesn't like me to do this, because I smell like a Transylvanian peasant as he says, trying to scare off Vampires... )

Today we're going to celebrate Father's Day at my Man's Grandma's. It's odd because I met my father only in 2005 and a year later he was dead. He was found at a metro station in Budapest, dead on a bench. Noone ever understood why, he was forty-something. I haven't had any serious relations with him, but I never had any bad feelings towards his attitudes. My mother raised me saying that my father was a nice man, she loved him so much but he was too young and irresponsible to she had to send him away in order to raise me in better conditions. This, basically meant that he played cards, he was 20 (my mom was 26, she always loved younger, ehehehe) and feared like sh..t because of having a child so early. Funny thing is, a very few years later, maybe months only, he was married to a traditional gypsy woman (blagh, this I never forgive anyway) and lived "happily ever after", raised two boys, my half-brothers... and I met him only when he divorced and went living with my uncle's. To be REALLY honest, it was my cousin who wanted to get in contact with me at first place. So I met my uncle, aunt, cousins, and then, months later my father. He made a big fuss about it. Ridiculous. Then, we could never talk, we haven't had anything in common. He feared to ask basic questions because he feared the answers... so we never got too close. Please don't think it's a sad story, it's not. I had a whole good life with my mom's family, grandparents etc. I once or twice had a bitter feeling for my father because he, with his acts, denied my right to know my grandparents of his side. I met my grandpa, not my grandma. They say I really resembles to her. Dunno... and this is the sad part of the story...

And the saddest part of today is that these family reunions are eating frenzies. Two tables of sweets and normally fried foods as it's the safest and fastest solution. I'm so glad my mother-in-law is bringing me soup and .. yuck, grilled turkey breast with cooked veggies... I'm so grateful. But I have constant fear of me regarding to sweets. I promise I won't break my diet! I OWE THIS TO MYSELF, FAMILY AND YOU MY FRIENDS! See ya all later with my updated menu! 

11h00 - pomelo

13h30 - 2 slices of grilled turkey breast with cooked veggies, salad (had olive oil) and I couldn't resist: two slices of whole wheat, HOME-MADE bread... :-)

17h00 - a tangerine

20h00 - veggie soup and an other slice of the home-made bread, and some, like half dozen roasted chestnuts

22h00 - a slice of pomelo

Whatever it takes,,,to help you get through,,,or avoid certain foods is certainly working for you. Your man's mother sounds like a real sweetheart. How nice of her to make the yummy soup for you. OK, I want you to read this... :-) I hope you have some extra time on a Saturday... This is a very important topic for all of us!

What is Fiber?
Fiber is the fibrous part of a plant food that your body cannot digest. Therefore, when it passes through the digestive system, it acts as a broom, sweeping out all unnecessary waste leftovers from digestible food. Fiber can be found naturally in many foods, and in supplement form. Here are some easy ways to add fiber to your diet:

Replace your white bread with whole wheat bread.
Many breads are packed with fiber—after all, just ½ cup of whole wheat flour packs more than 7 grams. Look for the words "whole wheat" at the top of the ingredients list, but remember to read those nutritional labels carefully. Just because a loaf of bread claims to be "whole grain" or "wheat" doesn’t mean it includes a healthy dose of fiber in the package. Many of those eye-catching labels will reveal only 1 gram of dietary fiber, meaning that the bread is made mostly from white flour, not whole wheat.

Leave the sugary cereals on the shelves.
Whole grain cereals and bran flakes are usually jam-packed with fiber—about 5 grams in one ¾ cup serving! Fiber One cereal by General Mills is a great choice, packing 14 grams of fiber in each serving! 13h30 - lunch at the indian restaurant: quarter dose of chiken tikkamassala with 2 TBSP cooked white indian rice and some indian bread.
15h00 - a kiwi

22h00 - veggie soup with a toast & laughing cow light cheese

I could not sleep, so as usual I went to DD's to read. So glad I got another inspiring message from you. I love hearing from you, because, you are going through the same thing as I am. Yes,,, we will get through this. Your comment was SOOO true and very up lifting. I also love when you share nutritional information with us, as well. I just changed from wheat bread, to Rye bread, it is lower Glycemic than wheat, but before that, whole wheat bread was the only bread I'd eat. OK I'm going to do the things you suggested. I will NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! give up. To give up, for me,,,is to just throw in the towel and let myself die. I am a survivor! and nothing, NOTHING! will ever change my coarse. I don't care if I lose 2 lbs a month. I'm still not giving up. Sis, I'm in it, to WIN it! and so are you. So starting tomorrow, I'm going to make some changes,,more water,,,more movement, and write down everything I eat. Just like you said. You motivate me more than you'll ever know. So have yourself a grand weekend,,,,love Ya... and keep knocking the h-ll out of those pounds. Each pound you lose,,,,is a victory for us all. cause WE CAN DO THIS!!! YES WE CAN!

Friday!

I met the scale today morning, and it showed a bit less: 282.1 lbs. Joy to the World!

I have to tell you guys, that my diet would fail if I wouldn't have supporters like you, and my family here in Portugal. My Man cooks me healthy stuff, my mother-in-law produces soup for me every week - a veggie soup I eat everyday and she brings it to us every Friday, so it lands in our fridge. And it's marvellous, I just cannot have enough of it.

I'm sorry if I don't comment on your posts that much lately, but I'm stuck with work. One of the reasons I'd like to leave is the average of TWENTY-ONE hours I work daily. It's a statistics for the 2nd semestre of 2009. It means that I work on weekends and on both public and personal holidays... So I went to Hungary for a week, and I have SOOO MUCH work you just can't imagine. And days fly by rapidly... I hope that someone saves me soon... I'm a good programmer, though. They say I'm fundamental for the company... Yeah, surely am, that's why I'm explored like hell.

Today's Menu:

07h30 - low-fat milk with coffee subsitute and cereals

10h30 - an orange

12h45 - a soup and a half of túró rudi (sweet quark covered with a thin layer of chocolate, 200 kcal)

 16h00 - an other orange

17h30 - aaaand... an other orange!

20h00 - I'm going to eat out with my man (sushi bar)

I ate out... I think I'd eaten more than I should have... but nothing very unhealthy. Sushis, some chinese food with soy sauce (dangerous... too salty, lots of sodium), octopus salad and finally some melon and 2 cooked pastry thingie with poppyseeds inside... Dunno how many calories do these have, but let's say 100 / each. :-)

I'm OK again with this day.

Yay!!! you'll meet your goal sooner than you think at this rate and support from everyone! Sorry to hear about your workload... it happens a lot with people in the IT world - I should know it since a few of my siblings are in this field...

I love fish and bacalhau is a favorite, but the cod filet that I used for my soup was a very small cod - not at all like the genuine salted bacalhau of portugal...

The weather is soo nice today (20 Celsius degs). It'd been a while we haven't got this nice weather. One of these days we had to catch the bus between two workplaces with my colleague, around 1AM, and it was so bright, so sunny that we said: "We shouldn't go anywhere... we should just leave at the next stop, there's a beautiful garden over there (Estrela em Lisbon, means the Garden of the Stars of the Sky), we should hang around in there for the rest of the day... but then, resposibility is stronger...

Thanks for the nice comments, I will vary my food today.

Menu:

07h00 - low-fat milk with coffee substitute and cereals

11h30 - a yogurt

12h45 - veggie soup, salad with lean pork meat from the oven

16h00 - 1 orange

18h00 - +2 oranges...

Saw a study on TV, that, it's better to eat a lots of fruits & vegges. Fruits & vegges are suppose to be more beneficial than chicken & fish. Great day, job interview n.2.: technical interview.. We'll see.

As for my menus, I think they are quite the same. I'm eating too much chicken breast lately, I have to invent something new to keep my diet in variety.

Today's menu:

09h00 - a whole weat bun w/ 7 cereals + light cheese (laughing cow) + 200ml low-fat milk

11h45 - an apple

13h00 - light-fried (on olive oil) cubes of chicken breast with steamed veggies and raw veggies

14h00 - a yogurt (low-fat, lemon cheesecake, 97 kcal)

22h30 - a yogurt

Hey there! To switch up your menus a bit maybe try some other light meats. turkey breast cutlets, pork tenderloin, and fish are great to add some variety. I see you eat turkey breasts and such in earlier entries. Not sure if you eat pork but it's a very lean meat! Mmm that lemon cheesecake yogurt sounds devine! Keep up the good work!

Good morning, Good Monday (OK - I'm joking...) to all.

I'm LESS this week. How nice! Even when yesterday I had an eating frenzy...:

I had: 3 toasts in the morning, a soup for lunch, then... it began...: 1 slice of turkey breast grilled with cauliflower (cooked) that I had from yesterday... then, I had 4 whole weat cookies (16kcal each) with light cheese, 2 slices of volkornbrot with light cheese, and as top, I froze 4 bananas and made an organic, 100%fruit ice cream (4 bananas mixed with some ice cubes)... I ate it all... :-(

And today morning I had a guilt feeling and I said: "OK, let's face the number on the scale!" and it showed me LESS ,by huge surprise!

Today's menu:

07h30 - cup of milk with muesli

10h00 - an apple

13h00 - slice of grilled chicken breast with veggies (steamed and raw)

16h30 - a yogurt and an apple (puree...)

21h30 - 7 cookies (16kcal each) with some fresh cheese I still had

Progress as of today: 30.6 lbs lost so far, only 65.5 lbs to go!

13h00 - a veggie soup

then... from 15h I had an eating frenzy...

I had: 1 slice of turkey breast grilled with cauliflower (cooked) that I had from yesterday... then, I had 4 whole weat cookies (16kcal each) with light cheese, 2 slices of volkornbrot with light cheese, and as top, I froze 4 bananas and made an organic, 100%fruit ice cream (4 bananas mixed with some ice cubes)... I ate it all... :-(

Then, I had a yogurt around 19h.

Progress as of today: 26.9 lbs lost so far, only 69.2 lbs to go!
