Good morning to all!

Thanks for the nice comments. :-) My question for you today is: what do you think of soy? I love soy joghurts and soy milk (only the flavoured ones though, I confess)! I don't drink soy milk now but I had a turn away once from milk and their products. Now I'm a moderate low-fat milk user (only in coffee and sometimes with some cereals).

My doctor said that once a day I cannot eat meat/egg in the main dish (lunch or dinner) so I have to have a greenie soup each day, or a salad. But salad is dangerous because of the salt and oil it has. Otherwise it's soooo dry I cannot swallow.

Today's menu:

8h00 - café com leite magro / coffee with low-fat milk

11h00 - 1 maçã pequena com casca / 1 small apple

12h45 - tiras de frango(peito) com caldo verde e alho (cozinhado com um fio de azeite) / a small dose of chicken (chest) with greenies and garlic (cooked with olive oil)

 16h00 - 1 iogurte Yoplait Silhouette

19h45 - meia sopa "Sopa da Horta" light da Casa das Sopas/ half dose of light veggie broth from a restaurant called House of Soups

21h00 - 2 kiwis & 1 bolacha de soja integral / 2 kiwis and 1 soy cookie

Progress as of today: 4.4 lbs lost so far, only 157.9 lbs to go!

4.4 loss - good for you! Tuna Stuffed Potatos Rub some potatoes with a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt Bake until done. Cool them a bit Cut in half and scoop them out in a bowl - add a little bit of FF Mayo or your favorite FF salad dressing, a dash of gr red pepper, a bit of shredded sharp cheese and two cans of Water packed tuna and some finely minced onions. Mash all that together and return to the potato shells. Top with a tiny bit of cheese and bake again for a few minutes until cheese on top is melted.

Hello Kathy,How wonderful living in Portugal,I'm from the UK.Just to say Good luck with your weightloss journey, bye for now Julie.

mcwoo40 on 01/21/2010:
Hi,Will you have access to an microwave as you could find a tesco/sainsburys/asda supermarket or marks and spencers and buy salads in a bag and do a jacket potato and tuna with it.Or a healthy eating lasagne and salad.Have some cold lean meats and fruit especially bananas and yoghurts too.If the office does have a microwave get some porridge oats,i do it for 7 mins on full power or weetabix perhaps,i hope this helps??

geevee on 01/21/2010:
If you prepare salads yourself, you don't have to use any salt or oil at all. I don't. I prefer salads w/lemon or lime.

Question: Are you not allowed oil in your diet? Even olive oil?

KathyBlue on 01/21/2010:
My interpretation is that I'm not allowed oil, I asked about olive oil and he said No...

Hi everyone!

Let me introduce myself: I'm Kathy from Portugal (born in Hungary). I have a serious weight problem as you see, since the beginning of (my) time. Sometimes it's less, sometimes it's more.

On the 13th January I received an ultimate warning from my doctor, and I have to follow a strict diet. 5/6 times a day, 1400 kcal max. and a lot of restrictions (no sweets, white bread, etc.). I also have to walk 1 hour / day and do some exercise 3 times a week. He will look up this diary so I write in Portuguese and decided today to publish the English version, too. :-)
I'm going to join to a tennis class. I'd been doing tennis for years, even competed but then ... I came to Portugal, got a job (I'm an IT) and since then, nothing. I was looking for a partner constantly though, but noone was sure enough to compromise himself for 3x a week... This is my story so far, please feel free to comment, I appreciate all your kind comments! It 's better when we have caring buddies to help with kind words! Thanks!

Today's menu was:

9h30 - leite magro/low fat milk + 15 gr kellogs K

 11h50 - 1 tangerina/tangerine

12h50 - 1 posta de pescada grelhada (100gr) com legumes cozidos (salada russa cozida) e queijo fresco magro Matinal (60 gr, 60 kcal)

/ 100gr grilled fish with cooked vegetables and a low-fat fresh cheese

16h50 - 1 maçã pequena com casca / 1 small apple as nature created :-)

19h00 - 12 gr bolachas água e sal (62 kcal) / 12 gr cookies ("salt and water" as they say in Portugal)

20h30 - sopa de vegetais não triturados / green veggie soup (my mother-in-law makes this, it's sooo tasty and no calories!)

21h30 - 1 iogurte de soja / 1 soy joghurt

CAMINHAR 1 HORA: OK

Progress as of today: 4.4 lbs lost so far, only 157.9 lbs to go!

Okay, Kathy. Now I understand why you write your entry in Portuguese! I didn't know if you spoke English even though your name indicates that you do. That's why I asked you about Spanish. I thought if you did, then I could comment in Spanish, but now I know I can do it in English.

Would it be too tedious and time consuming if you wrote bilingual entries? It would be more encouraging for you to receive comments from other DDers

Anyway, it looks like your eating the right foods. Your 4lb. loss shows you're on the right track. Keep up the good work!

legcramps on 01/20/2010:
Yum! I too, was reluctant to comment in English, but thanks to geevee breaking the way for us, i'd like to say WELCOME to DDs! You have a great looking menu there! Have an awesome day today :)

geevee on 01/20/2010:
Great to have you aboard! With no white bread it sounds like you might be on the Sugar Busters' Diet which I'm on. The same goes for no white potatoes, rice, breads or grains. Everything is whole grain. You can find fantastic red, broun, black andcombinations of grains at Oriental food stores. The regular stores don't have them and they are SO good!

KathyBlue on 01/21/2010:
humm, definitely I'll look up these goods on Saturday on the oriental neighborhood of Lisbon...
