Good morning, Ladies!

I'm sipping my daily dose of vitamin water (iron, vitamins C, D, E, etc.), and thinking about life, universe and everything - again. I went to ask a third opinion yesterday about the back surgery, and this time I went to my physiatrist (Physical medicine and rehabilitation) who accompanied me and prescribed my physiotherapy sessions last year. Normally these doctors are against surgeries, as they know the consequences so well (they actually deal w/ post-surgery cases most of the time). Unfortunatelly she told me she wouldn't disagree with her colleague on my case, surgery is very much needed, and it should be done now, while still young. So, I decided to go through this. She told me she understood my feelings (I personally doubt she would), that I must have been afraid of getting back the lost pounds while staying in bed for a month. I told her I have lost way too much to gain back over a month (geez!), and I have lost way too much to throw the towel in because of this. On the other hand, I explained her that life has been so unfair.
 

She told me hunchback was genetically coded into certain people. I responded life was unfair. She told me I would have to stop playing tennis or any other racket sports. I replied life was very unfair. She told me I'd need to be very careful with eating, because it looked like I had a tendency to gain extra weight. I answered life sucked...

So, plans are... as soon as I come to senses, I call my doctor and I try to re-schedule the surgery for the very end of July or the beginning of August. I want to complete my tennis year and I really need to end my struggles with food portions until then. I have to start this in a ZEN state of mind, so that anything happens, I would be able to handle and recover quickly.

Today's menu:

06H00 - two slices of toast w/ soy margarine and oat milk w/ LF cocoa powder, a tomato (400 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal) and some chocolate (20 kcal)

12H30 - veggie soup (70 kcal) chicken parts, boiled (600 kcal), mango, apple (150 kcal)

16H00 - LF milk w/ coffee, 4 slices of toast, whole grain (150 kcal)

17H00 - a piece of LF/LC chocolate (100 kcal)

Grand total: 1600 kcal

Progress as of today: 151.9 lbs lost so far, only 29.3 lbs to go!

You've made a very important decision and you should be proud! Life is unfair, it stinks you'll have to give up those sports (is that just during recovery or permanently?) It's so good that you realize you need to go into this with a clear mind. I really believe mental strength is connected to physical strength. I bet you will feel so wonderful once you have recovered! Not the same, but I had my partial hysterectomy last year and while recovery was tough, I feel SO much better and I don't regret having the surgery for one minute.

Life's unfair, it's going to be difficult for you but I 'm certain that you are going to overcome this hurdle in style. You have such a wonderful personality and that will help in your recovery. Stay firm girlfriend!

Wish I had something to say that would "make it all better".... I think most of us think that life is unfair for one reason or another - however, I sense strong will & determination in your post. You will do "what you've gotta do", recopperate (I KNOW that's spelled wrong!!) then go out & find a new passion. Becus there is ALWAYS something else out there. Some undiscovered activity that will fulfill you like tennis, so I say - take care of you, the go out & have fun finding it!

I can understand how you feel, and I think you are doing the right thing, based on what the doctors say and your own intuition. Being mentally strong will definitley help you in the recovery. Stay strong!

That sucks. I hope you can get through this okay. It sounds so weird that they won't let you play racket sports afterwards. It makes me wonder what else they won't let you do. On the other hand, how certain are they that you can't do them?

I KNOW yoga and pilates can help heal you. Have you seen a more holistic doctor? I know it must be so hard when someone tells you that you will be sick. I hope that you recover soon and Im sending lots of love your way!! xoxo

Kathy I do know how you feel in some ways. I am having knee replacement in 1 week. I always said I would keep my knees as long as I could. I was told 11 yrs ago that I needed to have it done. But I waited too long. Now I cant walk across my house without a walker and cant work. Anything I do has to be done sitting down. It is scary and yes it sucks having to have major surgery but now I cant wait to have it done and over with and like they say when one door closes another opens and I cant wait to see what is behind it.

and, finally, back to you girls on a daily basis again. Back to healthy eating and kcal intake control! 

I met this handsome flight attendant yesterday, but I'd better grabbed him, wrapped him and sent him to V as he was blonde/blue eyes - not my style! But he was cute and we had a nice conversation and he had a very charming smile, I love to look at a beautiful mouth with clean and nice teeth! He got me a better place, a whole empty row for me. Should have asked him if I looked that fat... LOL...

 

Today's menu:

05H50 - soy milk (100 kcal) w/ cereals (100 kcal)

09H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

11H00 - an orange (Portuguese, YAYYY sweet thing) (50 kcal)

*SIGH* - tomorrow I'm scheduled for the plane back to Lisbon, Portugal. OMG, I have mixed feelings. I want to stay and want to go... It's always the same feeling... Baaahhh... Can I have a teleport device for my upcoming birthday this summer, please? Normally I am able to estimate my next visit but now it's rather impossible because of man's situation and money situation and the back surgery situation....... Ehhh... double ehh...

On the positive note, I'm going to get back to my diet routine, because I've been having a lot more than those 1600-1800 daily calories... at least 3000? I guess. I don't know... don't care, I've been having fun with fav childhood foods, Hungarian foods, stuff I don't get in Portugal. On the topmost positive note - tennis on Monday, yuppeyayyyyyyy! It'll be hard coz I arrive around 1 AM on the 23rd and I need to wake up at 5h30 for tennis but that's a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet suffering!

Oh I know what you mean mixed feelings. It's always good to go and always good to come back. Glad you have had a good time. About the tennis - does it hurt your back now? Have you given anymore thought to another medical opinion? I hope you have a pleasant trip home and don't have to rush right into work when you get back.

I hear ya! When I go home to visit, I ALWAYS wonder why I left in the first place, but..... if I stay long enough, I always remember!! ;c) For me, when I'm on my "official" vacation, I don't worry 2 much about my intake - I don't go COMPLETELY hog wild, but I don't deprive myself either! Rome wasn't built in a day & neigher were my thighs!

Hi, girls!

Just a quick kissie for my favorite girlie girls! Peek-a-boo, I met my ex yesterday, it was so funny, he didn't recognize me first, took him long seconds to do so. He said I looked AMAZING, and WOW, and etc. etc... invited me to eat ice-cream, and we talked a lot, and he said that he liked me before too, of course, but now, it was WOW, AMAZING, etc. etc. :-))) Then he said that the eyes, the expressions and the emotional part (talking, laughing, etc.) didn't change a bit, so everything was just the same between us, but then again, WOW, AMAZING, CONGRATS, etc. etc... hahahah. Tomorrow, I meet an other ex. This is too much fun! :-D

I went to the plastic surgeon today to consult prices for the arms. It's my major problem now, the arms, you know. He told me the price (OMG.... OMG... You just don't want to know!!!) and explained me about the consequences. Yes, there are some - called cuts. He'd do some long, well-visible cuts that would fade but wouldn't ever disappear completely... so, I don't know. He told me to lose the rest of the weight I desire, then we would talk again. Yeah... I don't know.

Exercising, I've been walking a lot, long hours with friends or just with music in my ears on Budapest's streets... Refreshing. I do miss tennis and my water activities. Can't wait to have them back, along with my man! On the work note, I don't miss it a bit.

chunks of energy... I bought them from the all natural coop... They are basically 1 inch squares made w/ carob, rice syrup, seeds, and nuts... They are a natural alternative to an energy bar (like a cliff bar or powerbar) they are AWESOME!

Thanks for the positive energy, and you must feel AWESOME meeting up with your exes and getting those compliments. I've read that the negatives of some of those surgeries can outweigh the positives so maybe give it some time as you get to your goal weight. You may firm up a bunch more on your own through exercise and possibly supplements you can take to help your skin firm up. Also maybe creams? I've been doing targeted exercise for my belly but need to look into firming creams as well since that is my problem area. Continue to enjoy your holiday!!

LOL I do wanna know the price.Only cause I am nosey. I agree finish losing your weight and then decide if the price is worth the boost of confidence the surgery would have. But wouldn't you have strechmarks anyway? those don't fade at least my freddy croger like ones on my belly didn't from when I was preggy

Oh the joy of evryone seeing you in your new form! Especially the ex's. It's a nice thing your one ex said about "the eyes the emotions being the same...." Sweet. Interesting about the skin/arm surgery. Big decision. Are there any other patients that you can talk to as references on whether they are glad they had it done, etc.? No hurry to make decision, at least. Think about it. And one last thing - what????---you DON'T miss work??? LOL!

My friend who had gastric bypass, which was a mistake, has lost 170 lbs had a dr talk her into 2 plastic surgeries after she lost 100lbs and now needs them both done again. She had a tummy tuck and a face lift.

hello girls!

Doing good! You're right, I'm not stressing over the food intakes. I'm still very cautious here, no crazy foods. When I get back to Portugal, I get back to tennis and stuff, and will do an extra hard work, so hopefully at the next weigh-in (01 June) I won't see a gain on the scale. Hehehe... no stress!

I do miss my regular activities - tennis and aquafitness... even the gym I do miss, believe it or not. I'm going back to BodyBalance, I decided, because it's good for me. On the positive side, (at least for my bleeding heart)  Portugal is experiencing a rainy weather now, so there would be no tennis anyways, LOL...

I understand missing being able to do your usual exercise routine. I know when I couldn't walk or dance it killed me and I worried about all the progress I would loose. I don't think you will see a gain on the scale. Remember that since you have been dieting and exercising you have probably boosted your metabolism along with it so you should be ok. Hello girls!!!

I'm still not back on track. I hope I haven't gained too much. I'll work on this. I'm just having my favorite foods here in Hungary which are not available in Portugal..., I think I'm more vulnerable now, in difficult times I'm having in life, to these childhood favorites as they bring me such good memories.

Woo Hoo! :-)

I'm back to Budapest. Me and my childhood friends, very best friends and their families finally had a full day together. It was soooo perfect. Wish I could live near them. I told my friend I would move to their house and would make a perfect nanny, she'd need to guarantee me food only... hehehe... They recently moved into their newly built house (they built the house actually with their very own hands, having bought the materials from the wedding money!). Both of my childhood best friends are expecting their second babies. First, my friend Agnes had a boy, a year later the other friend, Mariann had a girl. Now Mariann got pregnant first with a boy, and Agnes is expecting a girl. So cool, it would be so cool if they would marry once, between them! I'm so afraid that I'll be a complete stranger for the kids. Now they are 4 and 3 years old... they don't really mind who I am, they know my name and they don't question. But as they grow up, they will keep forgetting me. Agnes lives 400 km's distance (4,5 hours driving from Budapest) and we rarely have the chance to meet in person. We talk online, but that's not the same of course. It was really good to see them. Growing up sucks. Being an adult sucks most of the time, and being far from each other sucks even more...

Food-wise: Nothing to report, I've been eating constantly since Friday (arrival), getting in foods I missed, in big quantities unfortunately. On the positive side, it's over from tomorrow on, because I'm back to my conscience and I want to introduce healthy eating in Mariann's house, it was requested - a holy crusade, a big task to accomplish. I have to teach her how to make vegetable soups, and healthy sweets. YAYYYY :-)

Exercise: Good news, I resolved this issue because I found an old, basic stationary bike in the basement (actually now I have two, M's parents got me an other one to try, lol). A perfect exercise to make me sweat like a pig, I'm doing 20 to 40 minutes, it's not too comfortable for my back so I cannot really push it too far, but 20 to 40 minutes is very enough on a daily basis.

Arrived safe and sound! :) No prince on the seat next to me... actually, there was an empty seat next to me.. the plane wasn't full, we had plenty of space. Friday 13th has its beauties! :-)

Good morning, Girls!

I feel good again, despite of a cervical pain that didn't allow me to play tennis today morning. Seemed crazy to skip it, right before holidays. The next training is only on the 23rd May. Sniff. In the meantime, I go for Hidrogym tonight, to have a good night sleep and wake up fresh and ready for the plane. I foresee that it will cost me a lot now, stuck in an uncomfy (European flights use smaller planes) chair for long hours. I'm taking the PlayStation Portable and a book but normally I am unable to play it for too long (cervial issues, looking down during a longer time is not good). And I have to complain here, I had my fair share of flights and I have NEVER caught any Don Juans on the chair next to me...  Hoping to have better luck this time, LOL... but what for, anyway.  Could use some endorsements from strangers. I also hoped that spending the morning at home, for a change, would result in extra kissies and hugs and maybe something else, but no luck here either. He was grumpier than ever, because we both had a very disturbing night with heat and a crazy howling cat. Fritz is developing this bad habit of howling at night to the moon. He's not castrated because we don't want to do it, he has only 3 good legs, the fourth has iron bc he was hit by a motorbike when he was 3 months old. So he shouldn't gain extra weight, as other castrated cats (we have 3 males, 2 are huge, castrated). He doesn't mark territory, doesn't smell bad, the only thing is this frequent howling... grr...

08H00 - a toast w/ LF soy margarine and tomato, LF soy milk (choc) - 300 kcal

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

12H30 - boiled fish w/ veggies and beans (400 kcal) + a green banana w/ a plain yogurt (100 kcal)

update at 10pm: I had some chocolate and other foods so I finished around 2000 kcals. No problem, tomorrow I have to keep a light day because of the plane trip and my sensitive stomach.

project eurotrip isnt coming along to far as of yet. its already mid-may and i havent even started planning! perhaps this is more of a next summer trip...not sure. turns out he has a kidney stone - which is terrible, but im kind of relieved it had nothing to do with our trip. he has had recurrent issues with his kidneys. im hoping this isnt a long term problem, and if it is that he finds a great urologist that can make some recommendations based on his condition. love!

yea, its the worst. i feel terrible for him. i saw him have one 2 years ago and it was the worst pain i think ive seen anyone in...port wine and miniskirts - youre on!! xo

Those are very cool names. Boursin is a strong spreadable cheese and I forgot you asked about the cannoli too - it's a long hollow pastry filled with either ricotta (cheese) or in our case mascarpone. Mine was also dipped in chocolate, very dangerous and I'm glad they are out of the house! I'm still loving the Kinect, I will check out that site.

I have never caught any Don Juans on the plane either. Maybe it's just V's incredible charm! Wish I had some.

You mentioned not to use very heavy weights in my strength training. You don't have to worry about me. I only have 3 pound weights and that's enough for me right now. Hope you have a great day.

Getting better and better!!! You girls make me smile a lot, you are excellent therapists! Due to the time differences, I read most of the comments in the morning when I arrive to work. First thing I do is to check in DD's, guarantee to a positive start of any day! :-)

Holidays are soooo close!!!! Can't wait to land in Hungary, Budapest on Friday the 13th, by 2PM. I just got some fresh, hot bread from the supermarket, YUMMMY :-)

18H00 - an apple (100 kcal)

20H00 - boiled fish w/ vegetables (300 kcal)
