I am still at 148 but I think I'll very soon be at 147. In August, 2013, I lost 7 pounds in 5 days. I did it with averaging about 1400 calories or so per day and mostly low carb except for bananas or grapes (which are high carb but also high fiber). No bread was allowed. No rice, no potatoes while on this diet and no processed food, so low sodium. I got a good start with 2 scrambed eggs cooked w cheese and diced onion for breakfasts, then lunch was a fruit and maybe a small serving of low carb vegetable or salad...then supper was a medium sized baked chuck steak or hamburger patty with a cup or 2 of low carb vegetables... I drank lots of sweet (not too much sugar)tea and coffee, which helped me stay feeling full. I even cheated one of the days and had a few small cookies. It worked for me. I was down from 157 to 150 in 5 days. It is an extreme diet and not one to stay on long but it worked for me. And I actually felt good while doing that diet. Fast forward to now....I am only 8 pounds from goal. So close. I lost about 27 pounds last year and at the end of last year, found a few back, but I still ended the year with being down over 20 pounds from January of last year and I've been wearing size 10 comfortably. So this year, I've been working on losing the rest to get me to 140 goal. As an incentive, I ordered a pair of jeans that will fit me well at that size (size 8 long, non-stretch 100% cotton Levis jeans). They arrived in the mail today and I tried them on. Although I can get them on, zipped, and fastened and they look good, I know they are a little too snug to wear yet to be comfortable... So after Hubby returns to work Monday from his week-long 'staycation' here at the house this week, I plan to do that diet again that I did in 2013 and it may be that I get to goal or close to it by the end of next week or the week after....I know I can do this...I've just been lazy...being comfortable in having lost the weight I lost last year and not wanting to 'do the work' (having less calories each day for a while) to get to goal weight. But now I have renewed enthusiasm with the arrival of those nice jeans today. Though they are vintage (very old), they are 'new' with tags still on them and I can tell they've not been worn.
Hubby has done a lot of work this week, as we've both been working in the yards and he has been working with his chain saw and truck, taking off debris from trees we had taken down late last year and keeping when he can for the woodstove. But he and I have been having a good time, too...spending time together. I love that man! It has been so nice having him home with me. We are both hoping to retire later this year.
Happy Thanksgiving to you....yes, I know it is next week...but thought I'd go ahead and wish you a happy, safe, healthy Thanksgiving as we remember to be thankful to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for all His many, many blessings on us.
Weight today is 146.0.
I've continued to walk a lot but have begun to lower my calories some and I believe this will help as well as most of all, PRAYER. I am beginning to fit into my 8's a little better now. I usually do quite well during the holidays contrary to what one might would imagine, with all the delicious food around! One year, I actually arrived at Island 140 right after Christmas! (So...what is the problem of my not 'STAYING' there once I arrive??? BUT...THIS TIME REALLY WILL BE DIFFERENT! It really is all about making SMART CHOICES...as well as PRAYER most of all...)...
BMI 22.4. I don't understand...usually at this weight, I am very comfortably wearing my 100% cotton size 8 Levi jeans... which is part of my goal...and I have been very active, so it is not from not exercising or being active enough. My measurements are saying I should be wearing my 8's....but I'm not yet, only 10's... So...IMPROVEMENT...but not 'THERE' yet.
I think that sometimes we just get tired of working to lose further to goal weight....we just become comfortable...COMPLACENT somewhat...with the work we've done and where we currently are... It is so easy to lose incentive and become complacent... Maybe we feel that we've done all we can do for the time being...Anyway, I will say it again as I have for years...that when you are working on getting to your goal weight and the scale seems to be STUCK....just remember...
I am still here at Island 147 as scale read 147.0 this morning. Still happy to be here.
BMI 22.4. Thought I would already be at Island 146 but not complaining. Have increased my activity and looking for that Island any day now.
Sometimes it just takes patience when we are doing all we can and the scale number refuses to go lower. There 'has' to be a reason...mayble muscle weight gain (which is always good)...maybe we've had some high sodium foods that we are not aware of at the time we consume them...could be a number of reasons...but we just have to 'hang in there' and we WILL see results!
