Oh it sounds so wonderful there. I have been to S.C. several times, Smoky mountains. We like to get there every year for vacation in the fall. It's such beautiful country. Its hot here in Texas, I wish I was there now! Blessings

sweet_tooth on 06/07/2006:
Thanks for your comments and encouragement. I checked out www.calorie-counter. Had a little trouble navigating, since it's a lot of stuff to read. I'll keep at it though.

Be encouraged!

Hi there,

You asked about where i live. I live just outside the city of Cape Town. Its surrounded by a lot of suburbs and i live in one of them near the beach. The climate is very moderate where we are, never minus degrees in winter or snow. Winters will get up to 23 Celcius some days, but mostly in the teens and Summers will get up to 30 degrees Celsius. Not sure what that is in Farenheit, but its pretty warm. If you go higher up into the country you get the snow areas and also the thunder storm areas.

Hello to you!!!

I sure have missed you guys!!! The reason I haven't been on here is my computer took a dive off the sofa onto the floor a couple of weeks ago and Windows on it wouldn't work, so I sent off for a restore disk (one didn't come with this computer) and it finally arrived today and here I am!

I know I have a lot of reading to catch up on y'all! Anyway, all's well and I hope all's well with you, too!

A special thanks to those (Monet 0239, Biscottibody 59, and Smiley 2) who wrote to let me know I was missed.

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Glad you are back!

Hello to you!!!

Today's Menu: (Note: I'm up one today which I think is temporary due to the SALTY pototo chips yesterday.)

Breakfast: Banana, 2 toast (lite wheat bread with a little lf margerine)...est 300...

Lunch at Golden Corral Buffet: (Estimates) 1/3 cp Creamed potatoes w 2 tbs gravy, 2/3 cp corn, 2/3 cp rice, 1 & 1/2 yeast rolls, 1/2 container honey butter, 1 tbs. mac & chz, 3 tbs baked sweet potato, 1/5 fd chicken leg, chocolate icing off piece of chocolate cake, 1 cup vanilla soft serve ice cream, 1 tbs choc syrup, 1 tbs peanuts....1000 cals...

Snack: 1 banana and icing from a small snack cake....150 cals...

Supper: Barbequed chicken and 1 lite wheat bread....250 cals

Today's Total: Est. 1700 cals

I encourage you to go to a church near you tonite!!! Let's all worship the Lord! If you're not saved....remember...today is the day of salvation and Jesus is coming back! Are you ready???? He said that whoever who comes to Him, he will in no wise cast out. He is the ONLY way to be saved! He is the ONLY way to have eternal life!

So where do you go from here?

If you want to be saved, just follow these steps:

(1) Realize that you're a sinner...that you're not perfect...just like the drunk who doesn't think he has a drinking problem, we so often fool ourselves into believing we're "not that bad". The Bible says, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). It also says "there is no one righteous, not one" (Romans 3:10).

(2) Repent of your sin...make a real commitment to turn 180 degrees around. You've got to want to leave your old, tired life behind. True repentance means not looking back, but looking ahead instead. Peter said "repent and be baptized, every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins" (Acts 2:38). If you're just buying into Christ like buying fire insurance, it's not going to work. You've got to stop going down the wrong road and turn around to have your sins forgiven.

(3) Receive Jesus as your Lord & Saviour...give control of your life to Him. The Bible says: "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9).

The scriptures state that "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord" (Philippians 2:10,11). Everyone will end up finding out who He is sooner or later. Don't wait till later! To receive Him, pray to Him right now! Let Him know in your own words that you are a sinner, that you repent and that you want Him to be Lord of your life. He's waiting& If you need help pray this prayer: God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. I need You in my life: I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in shedding His Blood and giving His Life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness You have made freely available to me through You Son, Jesus. I ask You to come into my life now, Lord. I want You to be my King, my Lord, and my Savior. I ask this in Jesus precious and Holy name. Amen.

If you've done this sincerely, then welcome to the Kingdom of God. You've just received something that no one can take away from you... Eternal salvation from hell, which is separation from God forever. You've just become a part of the family of God! WELCOME!!!

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Maria -

I've enjoyed reading your entries and having you comment on mine, but I have to admit that I was a bit discouraged by this entry. Not only am I Jewish - so the "conversion" entry makes me cringe a bit - but I am also not sure that this is the proper forum for such die-hard religious comments. Everyone - especially me - diverts from diet-related topics, but to devote a whole entry to religion seems a bit inappropriate to me. Of course, this is just my opinion and I know I can always skip over your entries if they make me that uncomfortable; but I'd hate to miss out on your journey!

Hello to you!!!

Hope you've had a wonderful day today!

Mine was busy....I went to the mall this morning...hadn't been there in a while....I found a pretty 'carribean' shirt that I got to wear to church tomorrow morning....also good to go with jeans....it's very colorful, with green palms and orange and yellow and other colors of flowers all against a background of navy blue....gives sort of the 'island look'....

Later, early afternoon, I went to a neighbor's baby shower....and I just now got a phone call that as I key this, she is now in the hospital having the baby!!!

After that, Hubby got home from work and we went to check on Mom, then we went and got a soft serve ice cream at McD's...we ate them inside McD's...then we came back and Hubby loaded his truck and I went with him to take off truckload #2 of branches and limbs that fell from the wind/hail/lightning storm we had the other nite...looks like we have 2 more truckloads of limbs and branches to go before the front yard will be cleared of them....

Then when we got back, I put some chicken in the oven to bake and went to my Aunt's for a little while...we had a good visit....then I went to my Mom's to take her some things my Aunt sent her....

Came back home and Hubby had finished baking the chicken...it looked good....We then had supper together.

Soo....Here's today's menu:

Breakfast: 2 toast (lite wheat bread with a little margerine), 1 poached egg, 1 banana....est 400...

Lunch: Another banana...est 100...

Snack: At baby shower, potato chips, 1/2 pc cake, est 400....

Snack: 1/2 low-fat pimento cheese s/w with 1 lite wheat bread, est 100...

Snack: McD's cone of soft serve ice cream....est 150...

Supper: 1/2 barbequed, no skin, baked chicken breast and about 1 cup green string beans....est 200....

Total Cals: Est 1350...

Exercise...Walking at mall and other places and doing housework.

Hope you have a good evening....

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Hello to you!!! Hope you're having a real nice day!!

Last nite, we had a big hail/wind/lightning/and thunder storm! It took a lot of the top out of a huge, dead oak tree in our front yard and there are probably one or 2 truckloads of dead limbs laying in the front yard. But the Lord kept us safe!!! I thank the Lord!

Today, after vacumming 5 rooms and doing some other housework, including cleaning and sweeping debris off the front porch and back deck, I went to Mom's and she invited me to have lunch with her, which I did...she'd cooked black-eyed peas and cornbread and we had a little onion to go with the peas...yummy!!! I washed dishes over there and visited with her a good while. She'd said her bathroom lightbulb was in need of replacement, so I'd taken 2 lightbulbs over there, but when I replaced her bulbs, the ones I took didn't work...and the electricity in there didn't, either....so...she remembered that one time someone had tripped the breakers in her fusebox, so I did that and the light came on in the bathroom and the electricity worked again in there. She was so happy over that! The peas and cornbread she cooked were so delicious! After I left, I went to the store and got ice cream for her, Hubby, and me..and took Mom an icecream sandwich, then came home.

I'm thinking about grilling out a chicken on the rotissiere in a little while on the back deck, as it is sunny and warm outside, around 80 degrees fahrenheit.

Today's Menu:

Breakfast: 1 banana, 2 very small peaches, 1/2 apple, 1 poached egg, 2 toast (lite wheat breads) with a little margerine....est 450....

Lunch: 1 cup black-eyed peas, 1/3 small onion, cornbread with a little margerine....est 450....

Snack: 1 orange sherbet push-up ice cream and 1 nutty buddy ice cream....est 300....

Supper: 1 banana, 2 little chocolate covered mint candies, 1 ff bologna s/w with 2 lite wheat bread and about 1 tsp. lite mayo, 2 cups watermelon...est 400....

Today's Total: Est. 1600 cals. Hope you have a good evening....

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Hi Maria, I'm glad you've escaped damage from the thunderstorm. We've got one coming our way. In fact, it's rained here most of the week and is supposed to rain all weekend. I'm so jealous hearing about your warm weather :) Thanks also for your comments on my weight gain. I know it hasn't been excessive so far and I'm grateful, but it's still difficult to see the pounds come back on after going in the other direction for so long. Baby comes first now though!

smiley2 on 05/20/2006:
Hi, thanks for your comment. I do go jogging/walking some times outside but i really dont feel safe walking on my own, so thats out of the question hehe, but thanks for the suggestion!

The ice cream you had sounds nice, especially the Nutty buddy hehe. I eat ice cream, even in the cold hehe, i never wait for summer or warmer days to arrive. I remember once hubby and me arrived on Heathrow airport in the winter, it was freezing cold and everyone was sipping coffee, hot chocolate etc. Well we saw this new milk shake at one of the coffee stands and we ordered that. Thick icy strawberry and chocolate, wonderful in the cold weather hehe.

It strange that you guys experienced a hail storm, isnt it suppose to be almost summer there? Guess it was some sort of freak storm. Im just thankful you didnt suffer any damage to your house.

Have a great weekend.

Welna
