Weight: 160.0

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Hello to you!

Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

My Mom and I traveled upstate today and we visited some kinfolks. It was a real sweet visit. We hadn't seen them in a good while!

It is sunny and warm, here in S.C. (70's fahrenheit), the birds are singing harmoniously in the trees, and I am sitting on the lounge chair on the back deck keying this, contemplating grilling out some chicken for supper.

Tonight, we also have church, after suppertime.

Today's menu:

Breakfast: 2 bananas, 210, 1 scrambled egg, 100, 1 plain toast, 70.

Lunch: Bag of potato chips, 200.

Snack: Hardee's Apple Turnover, 270, 1 cup red grapes, 90, a very few (8 or 9?) boiled peanuts, 60.

Supper: 1 cup okra, 50, and one small roasted chicken leg, 150.

Lots of water and not as much exercise today.

Total calories for today: 1200 calories.

I almost gave in to some chocolate malted milk balls at the grocery store...it was a small bag and only looked like maybe a cup-full...but according to the calories on the back of the bag, it was 540 calories! So I put them back and came home and had grapes instead.

Have a good afternoon and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 5 lbs to go!

monet0239 on 03/29/2006:

Hya,

It sounds really peaceful, sitting on a lounge chair on your back deck......where are you from again, is sit Southern California or Sacramento? We lived in Newport Beach/Irvine when we were there and i loved it, also great weather....

About the cheese, it was good old fashioned mozarella. Yea, i know cheese is sometimes the forbidden apple, but its soooo nice to treat oneself to a nice grilled cheese sandwich once in a while, it does good for the soul, if you know what i mean.

Have a great day!

Hya there Maria!

Yes i certainly did not mean to offend you in ANY what whatsoever! There is absolutely nothing wrong with being an Admin Assistant, the only reason why i feel this way about it personally, is that i have a HR Management Degree and cannot seem to get anything else than an Admin job here in SA. And so does a lot of other people i know as well, except if you went into the Technical or Medical fields. I guess im just frustrated, i mean i am furthering my studies to a Honors in Industrial and Org Psychology, but what if i can get nothing else when i finish it! What is the use of studying then in the first place, oh well, guess im just having a kind of quarter life crises!

Bottom line, no offense given to you:) Its almost the same as the other day, i think it was Geevee that mentioned: " Who on earth can have sardines for dinner" when her overseas visitor brought it home. And guess what, i have sardines for dinner every Monday hehehhehe. I didnt say anything, felt a bit offended, but then realized people are different and have different likes, dislikes and opinions, so that makes life so much more interesting and uniqie of an experience!

Ok enough chatter, have a great day and remember: No one can make you feel inferior without your concent!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Hello to you!!!

Welllll....159.5!!! Soooo, I'm now in the 150's!!! (Hehehehe!!!)

I can now get on and fasten 'ONE' of my non-stretch size 12 levi jeans!!! (Though not comfy enough to WEAR yet!) Isn't it something how jeans of the same company and make and size can fit differently? (We're talking the 550's style.)

Anywho......I just got back from spending some time with my Mom...I made some 'Stickies' like Mom used to make for us when we were little and took them over there and baked them in her oven. I don't think they were quite as sweet as she made hers, though....but they were pretty good. They are small, about the size of a half dollar or a little smaller. I had 8. I guess they are probably around 50 cals each, so that was lunch. Breakfast was a banana and about 1 cup of canteloupe. I've got 2 boiled eggs for a snack later and probably supper will be either a steak grilled out on the back deck, cause it's WARM here in S.C. today!!!...or a hamburger, that the ground beef has been baked in the oven. To go with this, Hubby will get french fries...and he likes his FRIED..whereas, I will probably have another cup of canteloupe and probably another BIG little bag of 100 cals popcorn, like yesterday. Total cals for today 1200 or so and lots of water.

Anywho.....when I left Mom's, I went to the gym and walked, and walked, and walked...a good sweat! (Or 'perspiration' for those who don't like the word 'sweat'.)

Sooooo...guess I'll go read some entries now...have a good day and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Congratulations on breaking into the 150s, yahoo! I know what you mean about the jean sizing, I have a few pairs of Levis myself and its the same story. Women's clothing sizes are so whacky though, I've learned not to pay much attention to the number anymore - I can sometimes fit into a size 2 (rarely) and I also have size 8 pants that fit just as snuggly as the 2s!

Hi there Maria!

Congrats on your weight loss, its seems you are one of the few ones that are actually getting results hehe! Keep it up and hang in there, you cant stop now!!!! :)

You asked what i put in my leek soup, well here is the recipe. I do substitute the evaporated milk for fat free milk though, so the soup is not so rich and thick. But you can try it any way you like!

Potato leek soup with feta cheese

Ingredients: 2 medium leeks 36 ounces low-sodium chicken broth 3 medium potatoes, cubed 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 1/2 cups evaporated skim milk 1/4 cup snipped chives 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese

Instructions: Remove and discard any tough outer green leaves and the root end of each leek.

Cut the leeks in half lengthwise. Wash each leek well to remove any dirt from between the layers, then thinly slice. In a large saucepan, combine the leeks, broth, potatoes and garlic and heat to a boil.

Serving Size: 12 ounces

244 cals per serving, makes 4 servings (with the evaporated milk that is!)

Have a great day!

Lunch at Golden Coral Buffet Restaurant (Hubby's fav): 1 yeast roll, 190 cals, 1/2 small cup honey butter, 30 cals, 1 small salad with 1 tbsp. sunflower seeds and 2 tbsps. thous island dressing, 160 cals, 2/3 piece cheese pizza, 150 cals, 1 small corn on the cob, 105 cals, very, very little steak and fried chicken, 150 cals, 1 small sweet potato, 140 cals, 1 cup soft serve ice cream, half vanilla and half orange sherbert, 200 cals, 1 tbsp peanuts and 1 tbsp hot fudge, 100 cals. Snack at home at 2:15 pm: 1 banana, 100 cals and 1 bag of lite butter popcorn redenbaucher, 100 cals, that Soonie told us about (and what a big little bag; I'd thought it would only be half that size for 100 cals!!!)

Lots of water.

Goalweight: 155 by (Lord willing) April 19th. (Hubby and I, Lord willing, plan to leave for our l-o-n-g weekend beach vacation the 20th and I want to be at goal weight and back to wearing my old size 12 levi jeans comfortably, not snugly and I am not even into them yet.)

Hello to you!

Well, I'm back to where I WAS before this past Sunday.

So instead of a triple decker egg salad sandwich for breakfast, I'll just have a double decker (regular), hehehe, this morning.

I'm fixing to get ready to go to another town...visit the flea market, etc.

Hope you all have a wonderful day in the Lord!

Remember, Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

P.S. Lunch was 1 KFC fried chicken leg and a small slaw. Supper was 8 baked fishsticks with a couple tbsps ketchup and about a cup of microwaved plain okra. Cals for today: about 1000. Excercise was hours of walking.

P.S. again: It's 9:14 pm, EST, and I am HUNGRY!!! I was in a store today and I was going to get Hubby his fav candy bar, which I didn't find...then I started noticing the candy they had that I like...but I didn't get any! No sweets today!!! (unless you count 2 tbsps ketchup, which I don't). Have a good nite!

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 5 lbs to go!

Hello to you!

Sunny, though chilly day today again here in S.C. (high in the 50's fahrenheit).

Breadfast was a triple decker egg salad sandwich, about 400 cals.

Lunch was a Krispy Cream glazed donut, about 200 cals. Desert was a small cone of chocolate ice cream at Dairy Queen, 150 cals.

Supper was 2 plain, only salted, corn on the cobs (300 cals) and a small 220 cals pack of chocolate cookies.

Total cals for today: About 1370.

Exercise was walking in store and trying on clothes. I bought something that fit well in a size 12. The mirror also revealed that although I'm down 8.5, I need to do more in the exercising.

Hubby and I plan, Lord willing, to take a long weekend trip to the beach in the latter part of next month, so I guess I need to get BUSY!!!

I guess I should just ACCEPT that I'm not going to stay away from sweets, at least not right now and just figure them into daily calories and exercise. If I don't, I may feel deprived of them and have a sweets-binge! (Although today looks like one, anyway!)

I'm at another plateau right now and I can't complain seeing how many sweets I've been indulging in! I DID resist a BIG hamburger at one of the stores today, though.

Have a good night and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (Smile!)

Hello to you!

Well, I see those chocolate chip/pecan tollhouse cookies costed yesterday, even though I did do a big workout on the treadmill last night.

BUT!!! I was better today! Breakfast was 1 scrambled egg and 2 plain toasts. Lunch was a small pack of cashews. Supper was a small veggie/fruit salad with sunflower seeds and just a little thousand island dressing. I'm guessing 1100 cals for today's total. Excercise was running lots of errands including grocery shopping for my Mom as well as for me and Hubby.

Soonie, I DID get some ORVILLE REDENBAUCHER 100 calories packs popcorn...I got the butter flavored, low fat kind. Haven't tried it yet, but maybe tomorrow...Bet it's gonna be GOOD!

Btw, I haven't TOUCHED the popcorn I got last night at church NOR the 'ONE LONE COOKIE' left from yesterday's cookie binge in the fridge. I looked at it today and I thought 'I DON'T THINK SO!!!!'

I feel hungry, but I'm not going to get started at 8pm. So I'll just read entries and distract myself.

Hope you all have a good night...remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Hello to you!

Today is a sunny, bright (though still chilly here in the south...50's fahrenheit) day with the birds singing sweetly outside.

Up, down, up, down...I try not to give in to sweets and here goes the chocolate craving and I do...even yesterday...I had 4 miniature chocolate donuts. My 14's jeans are loose on me and I tried on one of my 12's jeans this morning and they may as well have said "No way, sista!" (hehehe....not)...So, today, I said to myself I wouldn't give in to chocolate...I forgot I had any in the house...then I remembered a few chocolate-covered cherries from a gift from Christmas in the freezer...well, I figured, just one....only 75 cals...well, that 'one' must have been a TRIGGER!!!!!!!! I also had some chocolate/pecan tollhouse frozen cookie dough in the freezer from Christmas that I'd forgotten about. Around 2 pm, I decided I'd only bake ONE of them (190 cals)...WELL THAT JUST GOT ME STARTED!!! Now 4 more are baking...guess I'll be doing some walking on the treadmill today!

Have a good day and remember, Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

PS...I didn't eat all 4, just 3, but that still makes 4 counting the 'one' I baked by itself.

Progress as of today: 8.5 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

me_interrupted on 03/22/2006:
LOL - Maria! You sound like me yesterday! I was being SO good, and the cheese curls sitting in the baggie on my counter looked SO good, and really it was only like 1/2 a serving, so I said "why not, I've got the extra points to spare today". Well, that turned into opening the big bag of cheeze curls and having at least an additional serving more, then two big pieces of DH's birthday cake, and then probably about 1/2 cup of almonds, and well... I think enough said. LOL If we can just stay away from it in the first place and resist that first bite, then we are really doing something! :-)

Soon2BThin on 03/22/2006:
About the popcorn I talked about---I had already had a bag in the afternoon, it's a real habit. For only 100 calories or 2 points I consider it a good snack and treat. But I didn't want to have more later since it was after 7pm and I try hard not to eat after 7. Still hard to smell it. Popcorn has the best smell, doesn't it? Mmmmm, cookies! There's no way I could keep that stuff in the house, frozen or not! And anyone around here who wants it can just buy it themselves! I refuse! Yep, that sugar can be a trigger that makes you keep eating things, I know. Hope you have an excellent day tomorrow!

Umpqua on 03/22/2006:
It's good that you're recognizing the trigger foods - I, too, have such trouble controlling myself with chocolate. I just commented to Geevee that I need to freeze the 1.5 lbs of Harry & David chocolate truffles sitting atop my fridge before it's too late! Your weight is down, so that's good news. I hope you're enjoying your chilly (yet warm by Northeast standards) day :)

Today has been chilly and rainy here in the south. My Mother called me and invited me to have dinner (lunch) with her. She cooked fried steak, rice, gravy, green peas, green string beans, and she had fresh tomatoes. She is an excellent cook. Last year, she was on life support...I remember crying and praying and asking the Lord to heal her...and the Lord performed a miracle in healing her and now, she not only cooked dinner for her and me, but also fixed a loaded plateful to carry home for my Hubby when he gets in from work and I don't have to cook supper. God is so good! I thank Him and praise Him!

Hope you have a good day today...remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Progress as of today: 7.5 lbs lost so far, only 7 lbs to go!
