The above 'whosoever' means you! Hope you're having a nice day today! I've been out and about...it's sunny and in the high 70's according to tv weather news. I walked at the gym this morning about 30 minutes, same as yesterday. I worked out with weights at the gym yesterday. It's just a gorgeous day.

Have a nice day and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!) '...for the joy of the LORD is your strength.'

Happy Easter to you! I hope and pray that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Saviour. If not, today is the day of salvation. Repent of your sins and ask His forgiveness and you can have a new life in Jesus beginning today! Jesus loves you!!! He loves you so much that He took your (and my) place on the cross and shed His Blood and gave His Life so that you and I can have the gift of eternal life! There is nothing this world has to compare...NOTHING!!! So, my Easter prayer today is for all to have a personal relationship with Jesus and know Him as their Lord and Saviour. He loves you! And so do I!

Love, Maria

Amen! Thanks for being so bold! People need to hear about the love of Jesus, that's for sure!

Jennifer68 on 03/28/2005:
I'm particularly saddened at this time for people who just will not hear this message. Easter is THE best time of year, nothing is more beautiful. I have so much for which to be grateful. Thank you for your Easter post.

Today is Good Friday. It is the day we observe of the day our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ gave His Life to save you and me. Because of Him, we who believe in Him have the gift of eternal life in Him...we have a home waiting for us when we leave this world where we will never suffer again...a home of pure love, peace, joy, and beauty. There is NOTHING in this world that can compare with this. We, who belong to Him (Jesus) have that gift of eternal life NOW...we don't have to wait til we leave this world to have this precious gift, we have it now. We can know peace, joy, love now because we belong to Him. One day, Jesus is going to come back...He is going to return to earth...if you are not ready and waiting and watching for His return, guess what? You will have missed out on the most important thing life has to offer! So, if you are not saved, now is the time to repent of your sins, ask His forgiveness, and believe on Him...Jesus shed His blood and gave His life for your forgiveness....He took YOUR place on the cross because He LOVES YOU! Won't you ask Him to be your Lord and Saviour today?

Love, Maria

Progress as of today: 13 lbs lost so far, only 1.5 lbs to go!

Good morning to you! It is a cold, rainy day here in S.C. (40's)

I decided this morning, since I'm not going to be at my personal goal by tomorrow for our spring vacation weekend at the beach that I would have a nice 'brunch' and go get an orange juice and a blueberry muffin for breakfast/lunch....well...guess what????? The only blueberry muffins I could find (looked in 2 stores) were the 600 calories kind and very large. You would think they could at least package them into 2 medium sized muffins, wouldn't you? So, I bought the 630 calories giant blueberry muffin and got a larger bottle of oj than I wanted (a 14 oz. when I only wanted an 8 or 12 oz. one) because that was the 'smallest' I could find for sale...what's up???? I guess they want to sell things as a 2 in 1 so they'll make more money???? It's called you buy more than you want so they make more money???? Then, you're tempted once you buy it to get your money's worth and eat it all, right? So I bought the muffin and juice and came home and ate about half of the muffin and threw out the rest for the birds so I wouldn't be tempted to finish it and drank all the juice, for a total of about 500 calories. Anyway, I guess I should have just fixed something here at the house, cause I saw a very small 150 calorie pack of barbequed potato chips and got that and now I've eaten that, also....total 650cals for breakfast and lunch. So, now I'm brewing some coffee and gonna have some of that with creamer. You win some, you lose some, huh? At least now I've learned how to eat when Hubby and I go out to eat buffet (his fav). It's called get a salad of raw veggies, sprinkle lightly with sunflower seeds or nuts if desired, go light on fatfree dressing, get a deck of cards-sized piece of lean meat, and 2 starches, for example, 1 yeast roll and 1 baked sweet potato. Forget 2nd helpings and deserts, cause they don't fit in size 8's. I used to think I had to get 'my money's worth' when he and I would eat out buffet....wow, was I stuffed! I'd get more than one desert and eat all I could hold! Not counting going back for seconds on dinner! But I've learned better now...and it's just a matter of incorporating some good habits to replace bad habits. That's all it is. Once you get adjusted to it and it does take a while, you will be satisfied with your healthier way of eating when you eat and you won't feel deprived, but it does take a while to get used to it.

Well, Lord willing, Hubby and I leave tomorrow afternoon for our 3 day spring vacation beach weekend. I will try to eat sensibly, but I know I'll not do it the whole time. I know I'll probably make up for when I don't though, cause usually we walk miles and miles and miles when we go. Up and down the beach, the piers, the streets, and in and out of flea markets, stores, buffets, etc. (Hehehe!)

Have a great day and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Umpqua on 03/16/2005:
I hope you have a wonderful spring vacation! My hubby and I do the same thing on vacation - walk for miles. I actually dropped a couple of pounds on our last trip even though I wasn't overly careful about eating (I didn't pig out though!) I think you're right, once you're used to healthy portion sizes, those are enough to keep you full and satisfied. Good for you for eating half the muffin. I think those monster muffins are part of the "super-size" America trend that is keeping us overweight and inactive. Portion sizes are out of control, but it doesn't mean we have to eat everything put in front of us.

cynthia on 03/16/2005:
Maria, enjoy your vacation. I'm feeling jealous, but I'll get over it. One day I'll have someone who loves me and we'll walk on the beech too! Have fun, be safe, God bless. Cynthia

Jennifer68 on 03/16/2005:
The birds are very happy for the muffin! Lol. Count that as a big success, forget about the chips. You could have eaten BOTH!-- but you didn't :) Have fun on your vacation and think about those of us who are cheering you on!!

Good evening to you! Hope you've had a terrific day today! The weather has changed here in S.C......rainy and cold (50's). But thank the Lord for it! He always knows what's best, that I am SURE of!

Well, today has NOT been a good eating day. I've been a naughty girl! Dare I tell????? Well, why not?

I started off well, having an egg scrambled in water instead of oil to save calories and a dry, plain diet bread toast, just 1. That was breakfast with a few cups of decaf coffee with only creamer.

Well....My Hubby had a german chocolate cake (the half he didn't eat yesterday, that is) sitting on the kitchen table. I somehow thought that my chocolate-addicted self could have a very small piece of it and then leave it alone..........NOT!!!

Off and on today, I consumed not 1, not 2, not 3......no......... how about 6? 'small' pieces of it before I finally realized I was nauseated and got a tummyache, hehehe.

I tried to 'right' everything by cooking a very nutritious 'stew' of brown rice, tomatoes, and salmon and having a little of that for supper, but I only ate about 1/2 cup full of that, being still full of the 'CAKE'!!!!!

So that's been my menu today. 'CAKE!' I still think I did my 1700 daily calories today, but I don't know for sure with all that icing and coconut and nuts!

Anyway, I've confessed now and I hope you had a better eating day that I did, hehehe!

Think I'll go read some entries...have a good night and remember....Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Maria ~

I'll confess that I wouldn't have been able to leave cake alone either. It's taken years of nagging but it's gotten to the point that my poor husband has to keep his "Treats" in the car (and not tell me about them). For his birthday someone gave him a cheesecake and he stored it at work! I've been at this for so long (2 1/2years) but I STILL can't count on "willpower" to get me pass a cake sitting on the counter!

Runner on 03/14/2005:
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has eaten 6 pieces of cake at one time! I managed to consume 4 small pieces of the cake I'd made Sunday night before shoving the rest of it in the freezer.

It's an easy, delicious cake...just add 1 can of apple pie filling to a white cake mix, along with 3 eggs. (Skip the water and oil). Mix it all together and bake it for 35-40 minutes. When it comes out of the oven, poke holes all over the top and pour condensed milk and/or caramel syrup on it. Then stick it in the fridge. It tastes like a caramel apple cake! But I caution you---it's really easy to eat more than one piece! (I'm speaking from experience!)

Umpqua on 03/15/2005:
I would have attacked that cake too! I recently made a supposedly "fat free" chocolate cake. We had a few pieces without icing and it wasn't that great so I've put it in the freezer. I know if I had left it out it would be long gone by now (same goes for chocolate cookies, pies, and pretty much anything chocolate and in the dessert family). Even though you ate a lot of cake you didn't eat that much overall, and you can always make up for it now!

Good afternoon to you! Hope you're having a blessed day! It is sunny and warm (70's) here in South Carolina today! Hubby and I just got back a little while ago from eating out buffet (his favorite)after church. The following is what I had:

1 cup Salad of spinach leaves, cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, peach, sunflower seeds, green peas, and fat free thousand island dressing. Deck of cards-sized well done steak. 1 yeast roll with about 1 teaspoon of honey butter and 1 very small hushpuppy. 1 Baked sweet potato, plain. About 1/2 cup steamed brocolli. Diet coke and a large glass of water.

That's it. No desert and no second helpings! (I've come a l-o-n-g way, Baby!)

Just don't ask me what I had for breakfast. Our Lighthouse Sunday School Class celebrated our 2nd year anniversary with a large breakfast (but I was 'mostly' good).

No supper for me. If I want anything else other than WATER today, it will be only decaf coffee with creamer only.

With this menu for today, I think I've done my 'maintain' daily 1700 calories.

Hope you have a wonderful afternoon and remember....Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

geevee on 03/13/2005:
Thanks, Maria. The salad you had encourages me tojust get started and cut up the stuff for one of those salads I love! I'm so lazy!

Runner on 03/13/2005:
Wow! I'm so impressed at your choices at the buffet! Way to go!!!

When I lived in the States, church functions almost always revolved around food...and there were far too many times when I pigged out on potlucks!! As much as I loved church, I sometimes got weary of all the food. I just wanted to have a Sunday where we feasted only on God's "daily bread!" :)

There were just way too many good cooks at my church!

Good afternoon to you! Hope you're having a blessed day!

Yesterday, Hubby and I grilled out hamburgers on the back deck after he got home from work....The weather was sunny and warm, around 70 degrees fahrenheit, and they turned out soooooo YUMMY!!! I only had one bun and made mine a double hamburger! I fixed some slaw with cabbage and reduced fat mayo and baked Hubby some 'french fried potatoes'...and it was all so delicious! I find that food grilled out tastes so much better than food roasted or baked in the oven!

Well...soon it will be time to go to church for our weekly praise team practice (I play the piano)...We are to practice 2 weeks worth tonight...about 25 or more songs....

Hope you have a good night and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

One of my biggest regrets in life is not having paid attention when I was taking piano lessons. I would love to be able to play now. Have a good rehearsal. Cynthia

Umpqua on 03/08/2005:
I am so jealous that you're able to grill outside. We're having a snowstorm here today! I completely agree with you about grilled food, there's something about a burger or steak or basically anything cooked on a grill that sets it apart! I hope you're enjoying your evening, and I will look forward to the time when we'll be able to use our snow covered grill :)
