Thanks for telling me about the greenbeans and potatoes, im going to try it for sure! I also have a lot of fond memories of my grandmother's food, but i try not to think about it, since most of my memories are painful. Not that they are bad in any way, its just because they are memories and miss them, wish i can get back there for just 5 min. Sometimes when i close my eyes i do, but then i always get tears hehehehe.

How old is your daughter, does she live nearby you?

Have a great day.

Welna

PS You should post a pic too, more and more of the gals on here are starting to do it...:)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Hello to you! I thank each and every one of you who responded with comforting condolences regarding my Uncle. It really means a lot to know someone cares.

I hope each of you are having a very wonderful, happy, blessed day today!

It is a cloudy day here in S.C. It was a rainy day yesterday. Thank the Lord for the rain...we really needed it...I've been watering our flowers with the water hose off and on and so now that is not needed. We have 2 rosebushes in the back yard in bloom....orange roses...one has about 12 roses on it and the other has a good many, though not that many. I think the orange daylilies in the front yard are getting ready to bloom. The azaleas were in bloom last month...mostly red, pink, and peach colored ones are the varieties we have..but there are almost all finished blooming now and now other flowers are blooming. Isn't it amazing how the Lord created it to where all the flowers don't bloom all at the same time and thus we get to enjoy them a lot longer?

Today's Menu: (Numbers are estimates.)

Breakfast: banana and lite pimento cheese sandwich on lite wheat bread, 250.

Lunch: Barbequed chicken breast and small salad of cucumber, lettuce, green bell pepper, and celery, and desert of chocolate candy (gotta get some more apples), 600.

Supper: Green beans and potatoes and a piece of homemade cornbread with a little margerine, 350.

Nitesnack: Green beans and potatoes and 2 small chocolate candies, 150.

Today's Total: Guessing 1350 calories.

Hubby and I did eat out buffet yesterday and I was good with that (only had 1/2 yeast roll and a 'touch' of honey butter, small corn on the cob, baked sweet potato, about a cup of watermelon, a teaspoon or so of sunflower seeds, a small salad of lettuce and carrots, a little amount of fried chicken, 1/2 small piece of cheese pizza, 1/2 cup orange sherbert ice cream, and the chocolate icing off of a piece of chocolate cake (hehe!)) That was about 850 cals or so and I'd only had a banana for breakfast, then yesterday afternoon, we had a meeting at church and although I'd 'budgeted' for 300 cals, it was more like 500 cals with the small chocolate donuts and nuts. Last nite was a few more little pieces of chocolate candy...so total for yesterday was around 1700, I think, and I always try to do 'maintain cals' (around 1700) on Sundays, since we usually eat out buffet.

Hope you all have a good afternoon...remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Thanks for the comment! I think you should be thrilled to be in a size 12 because whenever you go down a size, it's definitely cause for celebration.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, though. A death in the family is always rough and I wish you and your family the best during this difficult time.

Maria, I'm so sorry about your Uncle. It's tough because even though you know he's up with God it's still hard not to seem him around down here anymore. You seem like a person of powerful faith though and I know that God is looking after the both of you. Keep your smile on girl!

Hello to you! Hope you're having a happy, blessed day! I'm out here sitting on the lounge chair on the back deck in the warm sunshine...been grilling out barbequed chicken on the grill...and keying to you! I dropped some popcorn on the deck and a cute squirrel has come up here and is eating it...he/she gets a piece of popcorn and climbs up on the bannister beside me and sits there on his/her hind legs, holding it with front paws, staring at me while eating the popcorn...I talk to him/her and he/she seems almost tame...we have lots of squirrels that are like this...they also LOVE tomatoes...I quit having tomato gardens around the back deck because of the cute little critters' love for them. Any ideas on how I could have tomatoes planted and the little critters not want to eat the tomatoes????

Today's menu:

Breakfast: 1 stalk celery, tsp lite pimento cheese, 50.

Lunch: Grilled cheese s/w with 2 lite wheat bread, 80, fatfree cheese, 30, tsp. low cal margerine, 20, 1 apple, 80.

Snack: 1/2 bag lite butter popcorn, 50, a little veggie soup, 50.

Supper: 1 grilled barbequed chicken leg and thigh, mostly no skin, 275, 1 corn on cob, plain, 160, 1/2 cup cucumber pieces, 25.

Desert: Hubby and I went to McD's and got a cone of soft serve vanilla ice cream, 150.

Snack: 1/2 small bag lite butter popcorn, 50, shared with Hubby while we watched tv together.

Snack: MnM's peanuts and 2 small Hershey miniature chocolate candies, 330, 1 bag lite butter popcorn, 100, barbequed chicken leg and thigh, no skin, 270.

Today's Calories: 1700 or so.

Exercise: Hubby and I walked about a mile in our neighborhood.

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Hi Maria!

First of all welcome back from your beach long weekend! I only got around to catch up all your entries since then and it sounded absolutely fabulous and so romantic! Im so glad you and your husband enjoyed yourselves! And dont feel guilty about the eating, i believe vacations are the times that we can let ourselves go a bit, who wants to miss out on all the nice treats for the rest of your life anyway, you only got one life.

Good food choices for today, it is tough to get back on track though after a long weekend of heavy eating...ask me....

bunny_girl on 05/01/2006:
Ohhh!! Sounds so nice! I love squirrels! Growing up we lived in a heavily wooded area and the little guys were everywhere!!! One got into the house one time and went crazy! I'm not sure what to do about the tomatoes, we used a squirrel feeder and didn't have many problems with our vegetables. I'm not sure if we grew tomatoes or not though. Anyway sounds like you're doing great! keep it up!!

Me again...

You asked what winegums were, well they are the most amazing little sweets. Chewy in texture and very flavourful. Its got nothing to do with wine, like the names says lol, the only thing it has to do with it is its got the names of certain wines printed on the eg burgandy, port etc, very cute. My favourite is the black and red ones, but you get yellow, green and orange in the packet all mixed together. A small packet of mini winegums doesnt have many calories, about 250 and it satisfies my sweet tooth! Here is a website if you want to have a look at the package. Scroll down, you will find 3 versions, but my fav is the first one. Maynards Original Mini Wine gums. Maybe you can order some for yourself hehehe! http://www.satooz.com/category11_1.htm

Hello to you! Hope your day has been WONDERFUL!!!! AND....every day is a wonderful day with the Lord! Right???? Right! Now...just get up and go to church tomorrow and WORSHIP HIM!!! That's what it's all about...after all, He DID think enough of us to CREATE us! Now...you know we didn't create ourselves! He deserves to be worshipped! And that's what I'm gonna do!

Today's menu:

Okay...just suffice to say...I started out real good and had real good intentions....and I kept to it til I got home from a stressful situation...and...you guessed it...I quickly gobbled up the rest of my alloted calories...and I was STILL HUNGRY....and so I ate a few more hundred calories....and I said oh well, I was hungry...well Hubby worked over 14 hours today...it started getting later tonite and so I felt REAL HUNGRY again....I thought....and I guess we could all say this in unison, huh?....OKAY I'VE ALREADY DONE IT, SO I MAY AS WELL EAT ALL I WANT!!!!!!!and guess what??????? That is exactly what I did....and I could write down all I ate and when I ate it and how many calories each thing was app, but why do all that....????...I'll just say I've had cheese, bread, chicken, popcorn, candy, potato chips, corn on the cob, raisin cake, ice cream, cherries, watermelon, bananas, an apple, a stalk of celery, 1 tbs. of lite pimento cheese, sardines, and it was ALLLLLLLL GOOD!!!!

Hello to you! Hope you've had a gorgeous day today!

It was sunny and warm here in S.C., USA! Hubby got off earlier than usual this afternoon and we had a grill-out on the back deck....we grilled out barbequed chicken...yummy!

After we ate supper together, I went to a meeting and came home and had about 5 or 6 hundred calories (snack!)....I don't know why....I was planning on only a 100 cal bag of popcorn...but I was HUNGRY!!!!

Today's menu:

Breakfast: Scrambled egg, no oil, 80, 1 plain lite wheat toast,40, 1 apple, 80, 2 small caramels, 80, 2 bubblegums, 30.

Lunch: 2 cinnamon buns, 440. (Note: I want to start disciplining myself about this...I eat a lot of sweets and I want to start eating more fruits and veggies. I could have had a nice veggie/fruit salad for less than the amount in these 2 cinnamon buns.)

Supper: Grilled barbequed chicken, 190, fried potatoes, 200, 2 white breads,140, cheese,200.

Snack: Chocolate candy, 200, 1 white bread, 70, cheese, 100, chicken, 200.

I hear you with the sweets and candy in-take, but you're right in that having a meal with lots of vegetables, and some protein, and some carbohydrates instead of some (just some!) of the sweets would help you lose weight. I try to have my cake and eat it too!

I'm going on holiday next Wednesday for 2 weeks to one of the Canary Islands and hopefully it's going to be warm and sunny - the weather here isn't that good and Bank Holiday Monday it's forecast to rain. Hope that answers your questions! A good days dieting awaits! Lil

Hello to you! Thought I would go ahead and get on here...hope you've been doing wonderful! I've thought about y'all and missed y'all!

As for me, we had one of the best weekend beach vacations we've ever had! I'm sure you can tell it by the new number above! Yes, we did eat, eat, eat! We ate out buffet, we also got a pizza and took it to our apartment, and we had ice creams, (mine was chocolate nut sudae with extra cherries)....not to mention room food...candy, donuts, etc! I was on a see-food diet there, hehehe! Btw, the 'seafood' was good, too! Hubby got raw and fried osters, shrimp, etc. and I got flounder...fried, of course! We walked for miles and miles and miles and I tried to console myself that my weight wouldn't be up too much because of all those miles of walking, but when I came home, the next morning the scale showed number 163 and the next (yesterday) and today, too!

We stayed at an ocean-view on-the-beach efficiency apartment with stove and refrigerator (which we stocked with lots of goodies that we had stopped on the way to the beach and bought for 'room food'!) and microwave and also with a balcony...we had stayed at it before...we opened the sliding-glass doors and let the sea-breeze blow in as we listened to the sweet sound of the song of the ocean-waves surf! It was so relaxing and romantic!

Hubby and I took lots of walks hand-in-hand along the beach and through the pavilion and along the streets, too! Most of the weather was sunny and warm (highs in the 80's fahrenheit). The ocean was a gorgeous brilliant blue and I fed the seagulls from the balcony (bread). They flew so close by, I could almost touch them. I would toss a piece of bread to one and watch while he/she would catch it in mid-air! They squawked to each other gleefully at the surprise feast while they delighted in flying by to catch their snacks! (Hehehe!)

Hubby and I also went to a popular huge garden park and walked hand-in-hand through some of the most beautiful brightly-colored flower gardens I've even seen! Red Amarylis, pink Azaleas, red camileas, orange and yellow flowers...so many varieties!

We also walked on fishing piers and watched different people catching fish...I stood at the end of one of the long piers and looked at the horizon and how the ocean curved at the horizon....something I've never really noticed before....how the 'end' of the ocean and the 'beginning' of the skyline curved around, almost like a half-moon shape...and I thought...how could anyone ever have thought that the earth was square (long, long ago) and not round?????? When that 'line' of the horizon clearly shows that the earth IS round.

We went to flea markets and a huge mall. Lots of walking...hand-in-hand.

Today's menu:

Breakfast: McD's hamburger, 260, and 1/2 small french fries with ketchup,145.

Lunch: 2 cold bananas,(I've found that bananas taste so much better COLD)210, 1 Oscar-Myer weiner, 40, 1 piece of lite wheat bread, 40.

Snack: 3 Lance snack chocolate cookies, 110, 1 Lance snack pb/sweet cookie, 40.

Snack: Frozen turkey dinner with corn, mashed potatoes, turkey and dressing, 185.

Supper: 1 Oscar-Myer weiner, 40, 1 piece lite wheat bread, 40, 2 nutty-buddy ice creams, 440.

Today's total: 1550 calories.

Exercise: Walked about 1/2 mile at the Farmer's Market.

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)
