Hi, Everybody!

High Weight: 205 (January 1998) Goal Weight: 150 (Attained within one year after January 1998) Today's Weight: 153 (Doing Maintenance)

Hope you're all doing well. I haven't been on here for a while... My Mother fell and broke her hip 5 weeks ago and has been in the hospital ever since. She was operated on (her hip) the day after her fall. Tomorrow, I go get her and take her home. She is so excited about going home.

Anyway, I've been eating a lot for energy, as I've been doing a lot of going back and forth spending time with her. I'm still within 'normal' (according to doctor) weight range for my height (5'8") but at the top end. I don't care. It's called "keep the fuel going"... She is not walking (on her own) yet and so uses a wheelchair for now, but hopefully, she will walk again on her own. I have to be careful to not overdo for her, cause I'm easy to be a caregiver-type person which could be a hindrance in her recovery if I encourage her to be dependant on me to do for her what she needs to do for herself. (I've come a long way regarding this.)

Please pray for her healing and recovery, fellow Christians.

Well this is all for now. Take care, all of you and remember... Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (SMILE!)

Hello, all!

I've been reading some of you...It is nighttime here (Valentine's Eve) and I know it is not a good time to write at night, because probably not many if any will read what you've written, much less respond, but here goes anyway.

Today has been sunny with high around 57 or 58 degrees fahrenheit and almost like springtime day...the birds were even singing in the trees this morning and later, I saw a redbird (my favorite is the cardinal)...

Today, thank you, Jesus, the income tax refund came and we (Hubby and I) paid off the vehicle we drive (actually I drive it primarily because he drives another vehicle to work, but he drives this when we are together)...so, halleluyah, I thank you, Jesus! No more high monthly payments to make on it.

Happy Valentine's Day everybody! I know it's tomorrow, but I thought I'd say it early!

So...what are you planning for Valentine's Day? What are you getting for Valentine's Day? What are you getting yourself for Valentine's Day??? (hehehe.) (I've got a little chocolate stash, hehehe.)

I'm going to take my sweet Hubby out to his favorite restaurant tomorrow. My Honey works hard for our money and I love to make him happy. (hehehe!)

I think I'm in a goofy mood, hehehe!

What do you want for Valentine's Day????

I'd sure love to hear what you'd say to all these questions if you want to respond to them.

I still remember when Hubby proposed almost 15 years ago...bouquet of red roses in his hand as he walked over to me, gave them to me, and then got down on his knee and asked me to marry him...WHEW!!!...(and I'd thought we were going to just be friends when I'd first met him)...what a sweet guy (and he still is!)...we were married after only 7 weeks of dating...we get along real well together and we thank God for each other.

We're going to try to take a weekend trip to the beach next month when Spring comes in, around the end of March. We love to stroll along the beach, hand in hand..we are quite the romantics. We alway rent an efficiency apartment right on the beach, with balcony overlooking the ocean...we love to sit out on the balcony and drink mugs of coffee together and talk and enjoy listening to the surf as the waves of the ocean roll in. We usually eat a lot on our beach weekends, but we walk it off (hand in hand).

Well, this has been a long entry, so hope to hear from you!

Remember, Jesus loves ya and so do I! Love, Maria (SMILE!)

First off I'm terribly jealous of your beautiful weather. Next week they're forcasting 40 degrees in my neck of the woods and I was getting all excited about that lol

I actually have school this Valentines day and after that I'm off to help my mom pack because she's moving on the 25th of this month.

I got a big gift balloon with a stuffed frog in it from my friend for V-Day. It's adorable but it has reeses peanut butter cups in the bottom. I'm lucky the whole thing is so darned cute because if it weren't, I'd pop it in a heatbeat and scarf down those peanut butter cups so fast they wouldn't know what hit them.

Sunday, Feb. 15 I just finally read your entry. It's been a busy weekend for me. You sound like things are going really well for you. I'm glad to see you show up here once in awhile. So take care and I'll see you again soon, I hope.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Hello everybody!

Hope you've all had a good day today!

Here are a few tips I'd like to share:

1. Eat at the HIGH end of your alloted calories/points. Why? Think of a fire burning in a fireplace...keeping enough wood in it and not letting it get too low keeps the fire going real well...also, eating at the high end of how much you're allowed to eat keeps your metabolism reved up, you don't feel deprived and hungry, and it's easier to get to your goal, whereas not eating enough can cause low metabolism, low blood sugar (and thus, cravings, not feeling good, etc.), and PLATEAUS.

2. Eat low carbs WITH high carbs. This helps keep blood sugar lower than it would be without low carbs, which means easier to get to your goal, too. If you're having a half cup of ice cream, have a half cup of fresh strawberries, too. (Strawberries are low carb.) If you crave a candy bar and decide to have one, pick one with nuts (nuts are low carb.)

3. For snacks, choose low carb ones or at least, lower carb ones sometimes. No, I do NOT advocate a strictly low carb diet, (been in the hospital for that one before), but a BALANCE of low carbs and high carbs and I'm not sure what that ratio is but I think there may be one.

Going to read some entries now...remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Hello everybody! It is C-O-L-D here in South Carolina today! And I-C-Y!!!! We're having a very rare winter ice storm! It's been sleeting most of the day and the back deck and front porch are white-iced over, looks a lot like snow! Hubby and I went to church this morning, but before we could come back home, he and others were scrapping ice with ice scrapers from the windshields and side windows to see to drive home. We southerners are NOT used to frozen precipitation!

Well, hope you're having a good day! Hubby and I are sitting in our recliners right now, which are side by side, close to the fireplace which has a fire going in it and Hubby is watching t.v. while I'm keying this.

Going to read some entries now...remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Good afternoon, everybody! Hope you're all having a nice Saturday. It is 61 degrees fahrenheit here in South Carolina and Hubby and I just got back from browsing at flea markets and eating out buffet (his favorite). We did a lot of walking and looking around. There were lots of people at the flea markets. We didn't get anything, but saw a lot of pretty things that were overpriced.

Well, going to take some time to read some entries...all of you have a nice afternoon! Hubby is sacked out on the sofa, watching an old black and white war movie and I'm here in my recliner with laptop on my lap, right beside him almost.

Remember...Jesus loves you and so do I! Why don't you consider getting up and going to church tomorrow morning?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Hello everybody!!! How are you???

It has been a gorgeous day here in South Carolina...Cool, though...in the high forties (fahrenheit) and sunny.

Hubby was off work today and he asked me would I like to go to the mall? I guess that's like asking a man who loves to fish if he'd like to go fishing, or a golfer if he'd like to spend the day golfing...and so on...I know of very few women who don't like to go to the mall...so Hubby and I went.

I got 2 pairs of size 8 levi jeans after trying them on and they fit...I've been back into 8's for a while now...There was a time about 2 years ago that I was into 6's, but I don't care about getting into 6's again...I think that was too small for my 5'8" height...I only weighed 132...and I did NOT feel good at all, so I refattened til I felt good again and then I realized I was getting carried away and came back here to get back on track again...My top weight was in 1998 at 205 and size 20 and 22. That year I lost 50 pounds and then after that, I lost more, reaching goal of 150. Well, I think I still 'felt fat', having endured abusive comments when I was over 200 pounds about my size being too large, and although I'd reached my goal of 150, I still 'saw' myself in the mirror as fat, even though I wasn't, cause I'd worked out too, while losing to 150. So, I decided to make a new goal of 145, reached that, still felt like I looked fat, made new goal of 140, reached that, same thing, kept on till I got down to 132 and size 6...I ended up in the hospital from overdoing it...yes, it IS possible to overdo it...take heed. I was not taking in enough calories and I thought I had to take care of everybody that wanted me to take care of them, too...thus, a caretaker to the extreme...and I was not taking care of me. But I learned...to not be used by people who really can take care of themselves...and to take care of me. I still help others, but I'm more aware now.

Have I bored you yet????

I bought Hubby 5 shirts today and we ate out buffet, his favorite. We'd not had breakfast and so we ate all we wanted. Hubby is more of a meat eater and I love veggies and sweets...I love long green string beans seasoned with onions and also baby carrots that have been cooked tender and taste sweet. Yum!

We're planning on going to the flea market tomorrow morning.

Hubby is sitting here in his recliner chair beside mine, watching t.v. as I key this.

Well...enough already...time to go read you! Hope you've had a nice day!

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (Give someone a hug today!)

Good morning everyone! It is a sunny, cool (50's fahrenheit) day here in South Carlina. How's the weather your way???

Still going to the gym and working out there or doing the treadmill and weights here at home a few times a week. It will be a lot more fun when spring arrives and Hubby and I can go walking in our neighborhood again regularly....stopping by and chatting with neighbors along the way sometimes, who are outside their homes.

I made a big pot of chicken-vegetable soup the other day...it's almost gone now...chicken, onions, baby carrots, okra, celery, and tomatoes and salt to taste...it was good. I like to eat soup in the wintertime...also in the summertime, too, with cornbread and iced tea.

Hope each of you have a nice day and remember...Jesus loves ya, and I do, too!

Love, Maria (Give someone a smile today!)

Hi Maria!! I just love seeing your entries here! Weather you ask? OH BOY, you don't want to know lol. Here is Wisc I just shoveled TWO day's in a row and face froze just about OFF. Very scarey lol. I sure envy your 50 degrees and I would be out walking in shorts lol. Not really, but us wisconsinites do that sometimes, it must be the cold that freezes some of our brain cells?

So other then that...You are doing so great, and it's great to see your hanging in there and doing such a wonderful job with the exercise! Have a great day!

Hello everybody! How's the weather your way??? It's 61 degrees fahrenheit here in South Carolina and SUNNY!

I had to PIN my skirt on this morning that went to a suit I wore to church. Earlier this year it fit snugly...not so now...too loose to wear without taking in about 4 inches or so with a safety pin!

I'm glad I can now wear some things that have been in the closet that I couldn't wear a while back. It's like having new clothes all over again, although they're not new. Ever feel that way?

I've been a little lazy on working out this past week, but plan to get back to the gym beginning tomorrow and onto the treadmill TODAY.

Hope you all had a good Christmas holiday and hope you're all still having happy holidays.

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Just reading about how you had to pin your skirt really makes me want to try harder!! I know I can get down to 148 too and it was such a nice feeling, I did it before, but why am I wasting time now?! Thanks for your little story about the skirt, it really gives me inspiration.

You ask why vegetarian? My husband and I were always intrigued by vegetarians (their motivation, determination and commitment). We did some investigating into the lifestyle and was recommended to read a book called Diet for a New America by John Robbins. Well, that book did it. You read that book and it's highly unlikely you'll ever eat anything with a face again. We are really enjoying the lifestyle and are proud to be a part of it. Our daughter (now 15 years old) has joined us on her own will and has been a strict vegetarian for almost two years now). My son who is 7 years old has not quite made it with us yet, but we'll leave it up to him. We never buy meat, poultry or fish so he's sort of a vegetarian by default but occasional school lunches, trips to McDonalds and overnight visits with the grandparents always bring him some chicken nuggets or something like that. He'll decide if he's into at some point. Anyway, I hope I answered your question. If you'd like to know more about it, just let me know.

Hello to you!

Hope you're doing fantastic!

I've been walking a lot and working out at the gym...and seeing results! Currently wearing size 10's comfortably and also some 8's comfortably, with room to spare! Also 'yardsale size 10 black leather jeans' that I bought weeks ago (like new) but couldn't wear then now fit comfortably! I was very surprised this morning when I decided to try them on, not expecting them to fit and they fit comfortably! I'm 5'8" tall, so this is a good size and weight for me...though I still recall the doctor telling me my best weight for my height is 140....but he also said anything between 126 and 154 is okay for my height (14 pounds either side of optimum 140). The other day I walked almost 3 1/2 miles. No, I don't do this every day! (smile!) I LOVE to work out with weights at the gym...it makes you feel SO GOOD! Try it! So, I'm down to 148....My highest weight was 205, size 20 - 22. I got down to my goal of 150 and struggled to maintain it for years until I decided to go for lower and eventually, I got down to 132...this was NOT a good weight for me...I didn't feel good at that weight...so I regained some weight and got into the habit of eating carelessly as I regained (cause you CAN eat and be full and NOT gain, eating healthy foods)...so here I am back again. As for this holiday season, I'm just trying to make wise choices and limit calories and continue working out.

Here is a repeat of a Christmas poem I made up a while back...since this is Christmas Eve night: T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house,........... I wandered in search of another chocolate mouse....................... I found half of a fruitcake and a frozen snicker bar.................. Good enough for me and I didn't have to travel far....................

I sat in front of the tv, eating potato chips......................... Fruitcake and pumpkin pie and chocolate cookies and dips.......... While watching Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph and other cartoons...... I glance out the window and think I see the man in the moon...........

About that moment I hear on the roof,................................ A squirrel running across the house, noisily, not aloof!.............. Since I've no kids at home, I sit up late............................. Eating more bun-buns and ice cream I put on my plate..................

My Hubby is in bed sleeping and snoring,.............................. While from sugar overload I'm soaring................................. Turn the channel to HSN or QVC........................................ And keep the credit cards away from me!...............................

I think I'm still size 10 and order leather jeans!~................... With a medium size leather jacket to match, you know what I mean?.....

I continue to overeat the whole Christmas season,..................... Into New Year's Day and I'm still feasting............................ Finally my clothes arrive I ordered Christmas Eve..................... I tear open the box and see part of a leather sleeve!.................

Quickly, I begin to try on my new threads............................. But my leather jeans won't pull up and I take them off instead........ Neither will my leather jacket fit,................................... So I put them back into their box and I just sit......................

Thinking of all the bon-bons and chocolate goodies and treats......... I had many of and didn't think of the calories I'd eat................ And now I knew I had work to do....................................... Get on the treadmill and count calories, too!.........................

So this Christmas season...may we all be a little smarter............. Eating less of all the goodies will be a good starter................. And getting to the gym or walking somewhere every day................. So that we'll stay on track and not lose our way!

Well, all of you have a good night and a wonderful Christmas!

Let's remember...Jesus is the reason for the season!

Merry Christmas to you!

Love, Maria

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Good afternoon to you! It is COOOOOLLLLLLDDDDD here in S.C. Cloudy and cold. I've been out shopping for Christmas presents for those who come to our Sunday School class. I found some really nice, big, pretty, holiday coffee mugs (we drink a lot of coffee in our class) and bought them and also a few bags of candy that I filled each mug with and then wrapped each filled mug in a beautiful decorative, colorful, festive, see-through bag, to give them out Sunday week (Sunday before Christmas)...so, they will have some treats to go with their coffees...little miniature Baby Ruths, Tootsie pops, and other candies individually wrapped and also cookies, inside their big coffee mugs. I could have come out a lot cheaper just buying $1 mugs already stuffed with paper and a few hard candies on top.....but does anyone ever REALLY eat those candies???

Well, I'm back into the 140's.

We had a WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL church Christmas Banquet Party last night and we all had a GREAT time and I made very wise choices and limited how much I ate. (I'd also worked out yesterday with weights and walking on the treadmill.) The food was superbly cooked by a chef, and though I don't usually, I had a salad first with VERY LITTLE thousand island type dressing and it was so good, it was lettuce, little tomatoes, slices of cucumber ad cheese on top...yummm...then for main course, I had 1/2 fried chicken breast, about a cup of long green string beans, a bite or two of a small yeast roll, one bite of a piece of potato, and for desert, I had 1/2 piece of apple stroudel (I guess that's what it was, and it had caramel in it...YUM!) and a small dollop of cool whip with caramel over it, which went with the pie, and caffeine-free diet pepsi to drink and I still got into the 140's today! I'd been very careful yesterday to not go over 500 calories before the party last night. There were Christmas songs we all sang, oh it was such a wonderful, happy time! And my mother even went with Hubby and me and she enjoyed it, too!

Well, gotta go...Hubby will be home soon. Have a wonderful evening and remember...Jesus loves ya and I do, too! JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!

Love, Maria (SMILE!)
