Hello, everybody! Today is another beautiful, bright, sunny, warm day here in South Carolina. I have been sitting here by the window, looking out at the bluebirds in the trees swooping down to the ground, getting some bread I threw out for them a while earlier and flying back up to the tree limbs again and eating their breakfast. Weatherwise, it is supposed to get into the 60's today, feels like it's already there, and the 70's in a couple more days, making for a sunny, warm week. :) I plan to visit with my Mother this afternoon, and take her shopping again. I love to surprise her. She has been depressed lately and I am going to try to cheer her up. I may bring her back home with me to spend a day or two. Later on this afternoon, plan is to grill out hamburgers and turkeyburgers. (Turkeyburger is for me.) Hubby said he only would eat hamburger and NOT turkeyburger, as he would be able to tell the difference. I disagreed with him and a while back I used ground turkey instead of ground beef when I fixed supper and asked him how did he like supper? He said it was real good and he enjoyed it. Then I told him I'd used ground turkey instead of ground beef. Then he tried to say he could tell a difference, but there was no convincing me, ha, ha. So, I just wanted to show him that the taste is about identical, but he still insists he prefers ground beef, so I fix him that and I also have some sometimes, but mine will be turkeyburger for supper (minus buns). I started using the home gym yesterday. Worked out with it about 30 minutes...so many different things to do with it. Also did treadmill workout with weights on and then later went walking outside about a mile with Daughter. So, a lot of activity. Drank lots of water. Menu for today is/has been: Breakfast: banana, decaf coffee. Snack: banana, coffee. Lunch: Skinless, barbequed chicken breast, salad, tea. Snack: pack peanut butter crackers, decaf soft drink. Supper: Grilled turkeyburger, minus buns, (no bread)with onions and a little ketchup, green string beans, tea, coffee. Another gym and treadmill workout and at least 64 ounces water. Have a GREAT day, all of you!

Hello, everybody! Beautiful, bright, sunny, warm day here in South Carolina. I've been gone most of today, running errands. Now that I'm back, I'm wanting to go back outside again. Eating has not been the best today, not meaning overeating, but meaning eating on the run, however I did take some low-calorie crackers with me. Menu is/has been: Breakfast: Pack reduced-fat peanut butter/cheese crackers, decaf coffee, caffene-free soft drink. Lunch: Banana, vegetable soup, another pack of reduced-fat peanut butter/cheese crackers, caffene-free drink. Supper will be grilled barbequed chicken (yum!) and salad, decaf tea, decaf coffee. Yes, it's time to get outside again and grill out! Snacks will be coffee and maybe another banana. Treadmill workout with ankle weights and wrist weights on and water, water, water. Have a great day!

Hello everybody...Take a look at the number to the side...THE PLATEAU IS BROKEN!!!! (Pacman does his dance.......music plays.........). Okay, so the plateau is broken a little, but still it counts. Hope you all are having a great day today. Our pastor preached a great sermon this morning, as usual. He is a fantastic preacher. The sermon was on the sanctity of human life. After church, came home and ate lunch. Menu today is/has been: Breakfast: Small piece pizza, 1/2 banana, decaf soft drink, coffee. Lunch was barbequed chicken breast, without skin, 1 cup string beans, decaf soft drink. Snacks: pack of peanuts, pack chocolate crackers, (200 calorie kind). Supper will be something light. Also decaf coffee this afternoon and tonight. It is a very rainy, chilly day here in South Carolina.

Hi, everybody! Hope you are all having a great weekend! Hubby and I went and ate out buffet today. I was careful to not overdo. We had a lot of company this afternoon, drank a lot of coffee. I think I must have made about 5 pots of coffee (decaf). Just a real nice day. Well, guess I'll read your journals now. Have a good night. Maria

Hello, everybody. I hope you all have had a good day today. I spent mine mostly by paying bills and filling out our income tax report. I am tired now and ready to go to bed. Eating was okay. Menu was: Breakfast: Fruit (banana, cantaloupe, grapes) and coffee. Lunch was 2 broiled (too cold to grill out) hamburger patties with tomato, onion, and lettuce salad and salad dressing (low cal kind). Supper was vegetable soup, peanut butter/cheese crackers, and tea. Snacks were coffee, decaf. I didn't get in a lot of exercise today because of all the going and then the sitting for hours doing math. Anyway, I hope you all have a good night. Take care, Maria

Hello, everybody! Hope you all are having a nice day today! Well, the interview went great. Only thing is she has to do more interviews and I won't know for 2 or 3 weeks if I have the position. But, that's okay. Well, about yesterday's food binge...I ended up eating about 5 cups of shelled pecans even after I keyed my diary yesterday...I don't know WHAT I was thinking.....because after I sat there watching t.v. and shelling and eating them, THEN I decided to find out how many calories pecans have in them. I was astonished! 90 calories per 2 tablespoons! AND almost total FAT!!! And I thought the 2 slices of pizza were something! I guess I must have consumed close to 5000 calories just in pecans! Also, I had eaten candy and cookies...we're talking about a nice little eating fiasco here....so I finally thought, 'Enough is Enough!' and I put on my ankle weights and did a workout on the treadmill. Then after that I went outside and decided to go for a walk with my ankleweights on in the huge field behind my house. I hadn't been back there in a long time because one day I was walking back there and was on the other side of the field, close to the woods and heard a MONSTROUS, LOUD SOUND, like some savage beast that had hooves (you could hear the sound of its hooves hitting the ground as it charged through the woods, and this bugger was heavy!) charging through the woods coming towards me! I ran fast as I could all the way back home, NEVER looking back to see what it was! But after yesterday's eating binge, I decided to brave the wild and go for a jog in the field next to those woods! Once I got to walking in the field, I looked up at the bright, high-ceiling blue sky overhead and saw a jet going by, leaving a white stream behind it. What a gorgeous day. I thought to myself, if the 'monster' is still in those woods and charges again, should I take the time to get these ankleweights off and then run or run first? Thankfully, everything was okay. So, I got up this morning, and no gain. What a relief! Today is a new day. Back on track again. Maria P.S. Thanks for all the encouragement!

Hello, everybody! Beautiful day here in South Carolina! I've been outside again, went out on the back deck and threw out bird seed for the birds, also threw out bread for the squirrels, and the birds will probably get some of that, too. Saw three squirrels nearby, playing among the trees. The sun is shining brightly. Feels like early summer outside and supposed to get up into the 70's today. It is probably almost there already. I'm back inside now and looked out the window and saw a dove...I've never seen a dove here before. It just sort of walked around on the ground amidst the birdseed and bread I'd thrown out a few minutes before, but I didn't see the dove eat anything. Well, my daughter orders pizza two nights in a row now and I say, "No, thank-you," when offered some by her and Hubby. I do my best to ignore the pizza and their eating it and stay back here in my computer/music/gym room surfing the web both nights while they eat the pizza and hotwings...... Well, here goes the rest of the story...I was a REALLY GOOD girl yesterday, and have been for a long time now, not going off diet in the least, and I thought I would surely break this plateau this morning and got on the scale when I got up and NO WAY. So.......I knew there were 2 large pieces of pizza in the refrigerator and temptation won. I feel SO ashamed. I ate both pieces, because I thought after I ate the first one, why not go ahead and eat the second one, too??? To make the splurge really good, there were a couple of caramel candies (30 cals each) that I have seen from time to time in one of the kitchen cabinets, so I said to myself, "might as well now!" and there they went! Also, I confess that I ate about 20 pecans after that, too, and had an extra glass of gingerale. After this fiasco, I had the nerve to try on my new size 8's levi jeans to see if they still both fit (yes, I tried on both of them, though they are the same size 8....????)...and they still do fit. Why did I give in? After this, the telephone rang and I answered and before I knew it, I have a job interview for tomorrow morning! (Scream!!!!) It is a nice secretarial position (my trade) :). So now I am thinking, what else is in the kitchen that I've been not allowing myself??? HELP!!! Maria

Hello, everybody! It is a sunny, warm (60's, supposed to get into the 70's), breezy day here in South Carolina. It rained a little earlier this morning. Rain clears the air, nourishes the ground, the trees, the plants, so that was good. I hope you are all having a great day today! Yesterday, I was out on the deck grilling out barbequed chicken and....the gas ran out, that goes to the grill. I closed the top of the grill over the half-done chicken and took the gas cylinder and had it filled and came back and got the grill fired up again...(I knew the gas was low in the cylinder, I should not have chanced it and should have gone ahead and had it filled before grilling out.... procrastination). Anyway, the chicken turned out great and I grilled a lot of it so there would be plenty for today, too! I walked out to the mailbox early this morning after it had rained to put some cards in the box, Valentine cards, that I'm sending out to my brother, who lives up north, and my mother, who doesn't live too far from here, and some friends. There are leaves everywhere on the ground. Looks like some work ready to be done. I'm glad our lawnmower has a bagger. A little squirrel came down a tree and just sat there and looked at me as I walked to the mailbox. He was so cute. There are LOTS of squirrels around here and sometimes we get wild rabbits, too, who come out of the woods. I have seen squirrels and a wild rabbit eating together, bread that I had thrown out to them. I love animals. My next door neighbor's cats think they are mine, too. They always come over when I am grilling out. Okay, it's not me, it's the food they love! :) I hope you all have a great day! Maria

Hi, everybody! It is a pretty, warm, in the 60's, sunny day here in S.C. In a little while, I'm going outside to grill some barbequed chicken. The birds are singing in the trees over here! I walked around outside a while ago to see if anything is getting green leaves yet, but no, not yet. It won't be long, however, spring is right around the corner! Less than 2 months away! I hope all of you are doing great today. My menu for today is/has been: Breakfast: Banana, pack peanut butter nekot cookies, gingerale. Lunch: Bowl homemade vegetable soup, pack of peanut butter/cheese crackers, gingerale. Supper will be barbequed grilled chicken and salad. Snack will be another banana and maybe some popcorn. Treadmill workout and at least 64 ounces water. Take care, all of you and I am looking forward to reading your journals! Maria

Hi, everybody! Hope you all are having a great day today! It is a sunny, cool (50 degrees) day here in S.C. We had a great church service this morning and someone got saved! :) Looks like you are all doing well, I just finished reading your journals, the ones that have written so far today. My menu for today is/has been: Breakfast: 1 ear corn on the cob, plain, 1 cup watermelon/cantaloupe cubes, gingerale. Lunch: 1 hamburger patty with onions and ketchup, no buns, 1 cup string beans, tea. Snack: popcorn and gingerale. Supper will be homemade vegetable soup. Water: at least 64 oz, but more if possible. Workout on treadmill. I think I may need to take it a little easier on the treadmill, the bottoms of my feet feel like blisters are forming on them, they are so sore. (But I doubt I do.) :) Well, you all have a great day today. I enjoy reading all of your journals and am so happy to see all of our newcomers. :) Maria
