Nice work and that stuffing is a slippery slope. I know because I made some for my guest over the weekend and it's sitting in the fridge calling my name. I've avoided it so far and it will probably go in freezer tonight!

8 miles is awesome. Several years ago, while still living on Long Island, I would actually drive into Queens and do a long walk. It would be about 8 miles. And if I did it, that was my day! It would be weekends, i'd sometimes bring some food with me...and it was so beautiful because i'd walk along a greenway alongside a parkway...but that's not the beautiful part lol - I would have the view of the city, the Throgs Neck Bridge, and a beautiful marina.

Oh, and I can understand how the holiday season, particularly Thanksgiving, may make you nervous or anxious or however you want to say it..

I have definitely felt out of control in the past during these get-togethers. It seems that my family now (and maybe also in the past) always did have healthy food to chose from. I think i'm better and not binging earlier in the day before now. I am better and watching myself, so I can enjoy a holiday meal. And also I know that if I do indulge, maybe it doesn't have to be as extreme, so then I won't feel bad about it in the following days.

Remember to take it day by day. Prepare some healthy food to bring if where you are eating doesn't have it. Bring healthy veggie side dishes. Do what you need to if you need to, in order to enjoy the meal.

I forgot to mention in other post to you, do a little wt trng with the quads, hammies and calves and you'll probably see a difference fairly quickly! Wt trng done right is very good insurance:-)

GoodMorning. First I want to apologize for not responding to your posts. Even though I'm still reading them. I understand the concept that we are all here for each other. Hence the apology. I usually have a half hour in the morning before **** starts hitting my fan. My doctor called yesterday and said my blood work was not just good, but Great. He said keep doing what your doing. So thanks to you all I'm staying right here. I know Puddy just celebrated Canadian ThanksGiving and survived it. And now she keeps rolling along in her lifestyle. But our holiday is about a month away and here is where my wheels fell off my wagon last year. And it scares me a little. Not Alot, but it scares me. It's like giving an ex alcoholic a drink. I used the stair climber yesterday and wouldn't you know it my same knee started acting up after just a 200 foot climb. So I'm off the stairs for a while longer and doing more warehouse walking. The kitten in the box is doing good. The mother is back and we're leaving it milk and cat food. I'm glad I got those things off my chest. Thanks for being there to listen to me. I gotta go. **** is starting to hit my fan. Have a Healthy Day. 1975 in / 2328 out. 2L h2o. 6.1 miles.

I figured you were busy and not ignoring us Ohio :) That's great news on your bloodwork and the kitty and its mama!

So, what exactly happened last year? Was there a certain trigger food at Turkey Day that set a bad pattern in motion (like potatoes or other darn carbs?) I know it's a whole lot of temptation all at once and then the rest of the holiday gatherings begin. Stay with us and you will make it through without damage!

When I decided to start jogging years ago--I don't do it now but not because of knee pain--I wt trained my legs beforehand for a few weeks.

I recall you have jogged/run pretty recently and I always marveled that you could just go out there with no previous training.

Aging and muscle loss just happens, and it takes much more effort/preparedness to keep from injuring ourselves.

I think of it a bit like that old Fram filter commercial, "Pay me now, or pay me later!"
