Good morning to all

I have not been on the site for a while but have been keeping up with all the posts.  Good to see so many doing well.

I have now moved and settled into my new place finally life has gone back to being normal and not living out of boxes.

My program on maintaining is still working well for me and I am now working on trying to find new things to add to my menu.  It is definitely a trail and error period.  The scale seems to be the judge of if that was a good idea or a bad one.

I am now starting also to get ready to leave for Winter and head south one more month in the cool weather and then off till April to warmer climate... looking forward to that.

Take care will check back in ... on and off on the site.

Progress as of today: 94 lbs lost so far, only 10 lbs to go!

Good Afternoon Franny lady! What a pleasant surprise visit from you today! Yay!

I agree with you that many of us are doing very well compared to even a year ago – attitude-wise and optimistically...and I am constantly in support of all (women) currently on here since I do not see my fave Ohio Raven anymore! I hope he’s still around making just not writing maybe he still visits?

How’s your new place? Nice and quiet? Good neighbors?

My eating is similar to yours…as I get better and better at maintaining, I find myself being able to add more and more variety into my eating! Lately I’m on an alcohol stint just loving trying different beer and drinks LOL…but in moderation like 1 glass per night at most on weeknights!

Where are you traveling down south and also where will you go this year during the Wintertime?

puddles on 10/25/2017:
I am going back to my regular place in Myrtle Beach SC for my 4 months. My escape from Winter. Talk about the Raven and he shows up nice to here from him also. Yes maintenance is my favorite part of eating well... it takes away the fear of gaining even in the experimental stage of finding new stuff. I see you are getting ready for the police academy good luck with that and congrates on having a regular friend Rick that treat well like all men should treat us. Take care. Love my new place quiet and good neighbours.

OhioRaven on 10/25/2017:
You can try Sauerkraut .

puddles on 10/25/2017:
So good to hear from you. How have you been and have you taken your retirement yet? Give us some of your news when you get the time.

Donkey on 10/25/2017:
Wonderful to hear from you! I'm glad your move went well and you're back to "real life" living. My boss is headed to Myrtle Beach next week. He was supposed to go in September but was afraid that his vacation would be sabotaged by the hurricane, so he headed north instead (and came back a day early, LOL). I don't think he'll be coming back early this time!

This maintenance mind-shift is a whole new game for me. It's nice to hear it's been a work in progress for you too. Keep up the good work!

Good afternoon

I have been away for Summer but all is good as far as weight and maintenance.

I seem to play with 3 or 4 lbs up then down so that is normal while I am on maintenance.

It was a rainy Summer but good since I am moving to another apartment in September.  I have been packing and getting my stuff ready for the big day.

Just thought I would pop in and give sign of life and let you know that I am doing good on my plan.

Have a great day.

OH well hello PUddy and welcome back!

Happy moving soon to you! Are you ready now to go? Is it a far move or very close and why?

Congrats on continued maintenance!

puddles on 09/01/2017:
Thanks. Just moving generally in the same area just slightly bigger place.

bearcountrygg on 09/01/2017:
Hi...I think 3 or 4 pounds varying is normal...water retention etc....maintaining can be hard...your doing great.

puddles on 09/01/2017:
Water retention or due to a slight cheat time but it goes away as soon as I go back to routine for a few days.

Donkey on 09/02/2017:
So good to hear from you! Maintenance is a whole other deal, isn't it? But that's pretty much what my numbers have been doing, too.

I hope your move goes smoothly! Mr. Donkey and myself are facing a similar predicament next year.

horn_of_plenty on 09/05/2017:
Well congrats on your move :)

Good morning

I have been off for a while just getting back into my routine at home.  Spring seems to be dragging but nicer weather is on the way definitely a lot of rain.

My weight is doing good I have actually touched in the 180s but not solid enough to actually change my number.  I am enjoying the maintenance stage and also my relaxed goal of loosing only 5 lb a year for the next few years while working on the maintenance...

I have been planning my next holidays for Summer/Fall and for next Winter....  Sept I will be going to Paris for a week that is planned and Oct I will be spending in Myrtle Beach.  Next Winter is always a given that I will be away for Jan Feb and March.  Looking forward to these plans.

BBQ season is close I have cleaned off my patio and grill so I am ready.  It will not be long before I fire it up for a great meal.

I have been ready all your posts and enjoying them.

Wishing you all a great day.

Glad to hear you are still around and welcome back to our DD page!

I am happy for your planning for your holidays. In October I will also be away for a few days in Las Vegas! To party and enjoy life with my friend, Jen, who happens also to be my coworker. I love that fun lady. We're 5 yrs apart. Lol, she just walked by my desk how i love her so!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/20/2017:
Excellent plans on your weight goals. Maintenance is best...healthiest to lose weight slowly and for the long run and not just a short term thing to only gain it back. I'm also in maintenance. I love it.

mylilsista on 04/21/2017:
Sounds like you have some exciting travel plans! I'm very happy that spring is here. We grilled out several times last week. Congrats on getting into the 180s. I just arrived in that zone, myself. I'm teetering a little above 187. Progress...slow...but worth it! Keep up the good work! :)

Donkey on 04/22/2017:
Thank you for your words of encouragement on my diary. You are doing an excellent job of maintaining. What an inspiration!

Good morning to all

I have been off for a while and on hollidays for the Winter and still have another month to go.  I have managed to maintain and even down 1lb.  As I said on an earlier post my goal for the year is to loose 5 lb in 2017.  More importantly I am finding now is the maintenance and that I enjoy this stage of the journey.

It has been a wonderful Winter and the visit from my kids last week was the bonus of it all.

I don't know if you remember me mentioning that my grandson was going to be in a hockey tournament taking place at Lake Placid at the Olympic site but I am happy to report that they took the gold medal for the group of Atome.

I will be posting but not every day.

Hope all is good with each and everyone of you.

So glad to see you are still enjoying holidays and posting here with us too! nice! I am so happy for you and the lb lost...i have gained i think lb lately...but it doesn't really show at all. So i'm happy too.

I also like the maintenance phase as it's the phase that's MOST IMPORTANT to living a healthy lifestyle. I'm in that phase along with you :) More and more i find myself having an increasing easier time in eating and knowing what to choose that will be great for maintaining weight. The more we maintain, the easier it becomes!

That's wonderful they won the GOLD! and yes, i do remember! he's on quite a successful team...best of luck to him, the MVP / Star Player!

puddles on 03/07/2017:
Thanks. Maintaining is definitely easier then loosing and in the long run the more you maintain you still end up loose a few lb here and there and that is why I have made my goal what it is now and for the coming years. Concentrate on maintaining and letting the small loses be what they are.

grannyannie on 03/07/2017:
Congrats to grandson! Glad you are enjoying your holiday and you're not gaining.

puddles on 03/07/2017:
Thanks Annie

mylilsista on 03/08/2017:
Wow...what a remarkable weight loss 284 to 190! Years ago, I lost a lot of weight as well--but eventually I got too relaxed & gained some back. When I was 300+ lbs, gaining or losing 20 or 30 lbs was hardly noticeable. Now, 20 or 30 lbs gained makes a world of difference in the way I look & feel.

Look forward to reading your entries. Keep up the good work...Sounds like you've had an amazing journey!

Donkey on 03/09/2017:
You are inspiring! I have never been in a place where I felt satisfied enough to maintain. This time, though, it's gonna be different.

Vitamin D is a grand old thing! I hear that low levels of Vitamin D promote sickness! I might up mine....then again, i take enough pills, so nevermind that!

Yes agreed, nice to be with healthy people instead of the other way around...you are guaranteed to make better choices!

Beach is nice...you don't need to be a tourist everyday...relax a bit first is a brilliant idea! :-D

Enjoy Puddy!

It is very helpful to have a friend who is as healthy food and calorie conscsious as you. Enjoy your beach time!

Good morning

All is good I am in the sunshine and feeling much better now that my cold bones are warming up.

I will be posting on and off at times but definitely just going to concentrate on enjoying the weather.

I am keeping with my routine which is pretty simple since I can cook my own food and stay on track - do not want too many surprises in that on holidays.  I know I will have some cheats but I usually balance those out.

Wishing you all a great day.

I am going to make kale chips and daikon (radish) chips today!

Good morning

Got back home from the cottage last night.  All is good at this end food and water.

I am 5 days away from departure definitely on the clock now to get everything done.

Not to sure what is my food for today trying to empty what I have in the house before I leave.  For sure it will be protein and vegetable apart from that I cannot be specific.

Wishing you all a great day.

Welcome back from the cottage! Glad you are on a good streak, as per your status quo!

Glad you are departing soon...man, i didn't realize how late in the winter your trip was! glad you had a warmer winter than most around your neck of the woods, right?

glad you have some food around and that you have been able to keep your healthy routine going.

healthy eating definitely makes me feel much better - i'm on such a roll from a month ago even! more healthy eats is making me feel better. less sugars.

puddles on 01/27/2017:
I usually leave end of Dec but this year had to renew drivers license and health cards since my BD is March and can only do it 3 months ahead of time then I had to wait to get them in the mail. My last card is due in today or Monday then I am off till Spring/April 15. So this will be my last few days of Winter till next year.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/28/2017:
I'm glad you are able to get away now then! Please take extra sun for me - although - i am so happy this year winter was extra short! :-) The "warmer" temps in the 40's have made it SO EASY for me to get out to the parks on the weekends and walk. That's my plan today - even did laundry last night so that all i have to do today is get to the park...and then a massage around an hour away as i like that therapist! fun times this weekend...oh and gym tonight. haha....nice weekend.

I'm glad you are heading towards the warmer weather as it's much easier to feel good when our bodies aren't fighting the cold! but for this year, like i said, i was blessed. i hope for more future winters like this one! i haven't gotten sick at all!

Donkey on 01/28/2017:
Ahhh... the thought of warmer weather... How exciting for you! Welcome home, albeit only for a short while :-)

Good morning

I had a productive day yesterday and was able to accomplish a lot of my errands and household duties.  My food was good but water slightly on the low side.

Today I will be doing some pre-cooking for tomorrow just getting things started for dinner party.

I also have to continue cleaning out my car and get that finished.  Yesterday I got my windows cleaned and cleaned out the junk that I have been putting off getting out of the car.  Still have to organize the trunk and get my golf clubs out of the storage and into the car.

The weather has been so mild but we are suppose to be getting back into the deep freeze by late next week.  Not looking forward to that kind off enjoying this relief from the cold.

Well that is about all that is going on around here time for me to get my day started.

Wishing you all a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Good evening guys

It has been a busy week I have been getting things ready for my company on the weekend to celebrate some birthdays plus my friend came over to spend a few days with me.

I leave in a week and half it is really getting close and still have lots of things to put together for that.

My food is on track that part is really no suprises in my routine just too busy to actually think of cheating on my food, actually it is more remembering to feed myself.  Was nice to have somebody to eat with this week.  Nothing like having company for coffee in the morning and actually having somebody to cook with and plan dinners with.

Hope all is good with you guys.

You are doing great! Well done, Fran.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/20/2017:
with the eggs...egg whites are far fewer cals, but the yoke is healty. i would have one full egg and the rest whites? i would - then you can eat quite a bit more for MUCH LESS cals...1 egg = 80 cal or so. 1 egg white is only 20 cals.

yes, i agree, it's SO NICE to have people to eat with and restuarants to go out too!

Tomorrow i'm going out for both meals - late lunch and an early dinner! haha...looking forward to this crazy change of pace!

bdays and nice times with friends are wonderuful when you truly enjoy the friendship of others around you!

Good morning

I am back in town for the week since I have a dinner party coming up and some birthday shopping to do.

This plateau is starting to get to me.  It has been months since I have had any movement.  The only advantage is that it has been rather easy to maintian this weight.  I really do not know how I could cut or add or do more exercise without making it out of my normal life and going crazy on all of the above mentioned items.  The food is good, the activities are good, the water is good.  I am starting to wonder if my body just feels comfortable at this weight.  Anyway that is what is on my mind right now.  I know that my goal is to loose about 5 to 10 pounds a year and maybe that is the only thing I need to concentrate on since I did meet my goal for last year and the coming year will be whatever it will be.

That is about it for me just back and will do my regular routine.  Wishing you all a great day.

Progress as of today: 93 lbs lost so far, only 11 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 01/14/2017:
We all have a set weight that your body likes to stick to.

Good luck!

Donkey on 01/14/2017:
I feel your frustration. I guess my only suggestion would be to change something up for a week or so, to "jolt" your body. I was going to suggest adding a 2nd workout of 20-30 minutes, 2-3 times a week. I read that this is what Oprah has done in the past. I guess I have too: when the weather warms up, I love taking a 2nd walk in the evening.

But as Annie suggested, it may just be that your body is comfortable at this number. So then, perhaps the change would be in your focus? I don't know... Have a glass of wine, everything is much easier to deal with a glass of wine (or two)...

puddles on 01/14/2017:
Maintenance is the ultimate goal and that I seem to have a handle on, plus my year was good did attain my goal. Wine I do incorporate my wine treat on and off it is all worked into the process. I have changed up my routine food/exercise the journey has been good and I cannot complain feel real good at this weight it is just the number is big if I can get over seeing such a number I might just have it made... lol. The other thing is that I would love to get back to the next step the size 14 pants but honestly I have very few clothes that size more of the size I am now. I will let it ride and just enjoy life on this healthy track.

sarsbars on 01/14/2017:
I would hate to be told the my weight isnt going to budge. OF course it can. It will probably just suck to do so. Have you consider trying to cut carbs for a week? Or fluctuating calories day to day? Those have worked in the past for me to make the weight budge.

puddles on 01/14/2017:
My calories vary from 1200 to 1800 a day and carb are usually not the problem I alternate having and not having them. It has taken me a little more then 3 years to get here and have had long plateaus all through the process. The only great part is the maintenance part it is the easy for me during these plateaus I just have to let my body decide as it usually does when it will start dropping again. My body seems to have a mind of its own no matter what I do. Thanks for the advice. We all seem to loose differently. Sorry to hear about the problem you seem to be going through.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/14/2017:
You can lose the weight, but, you will have to change what you currently do somehow. It doesn't mean a major change....

Maybe just do something slightly different like 2 days a week to start, more water, for instance...or more herbal teas and maybe change what you put in your coffee? or when you go to brunch, you can try egg whites instead of egg or something like that....

it will require, unfortunately, some slight change.

your goal isn't drastic, only a few lbs more, so it's not major changes you have to make :)

puddles on 01/14/2017:
I am just starting my new year and the goal is 5 to 10 pounds. it is still early - I am going away soon into summer weather which means being out more I will take it from there. My eating habits are real good right now - no sugars - controlled cart intake - lots of veggie - lean protein fish/chicken/seafood/some beef and some pork but always the lean cuts. Once a week I have eggs it is a little over the top to think of cancelling one real egg for egg whites don't you think.... if I did that all the time that would be different.
