Good morning all.

Good day.  Water is good 11 glasses.  Food was good did not exceed - great feeling.

Really tired today did not get much sleep last night - don't know why just could not get to sleep slept about three and half hours.  I will probably have a few naps today.  I have to be careful not to sleep to much and end up with another night of no sleep. 

Apart from that.  All is good.  Will talk to you guys later.

Good afternoon all

I am late at posting today but I have been busy.  I dusted, cleaned, washed floors etc etc... and now it is time to start drinking my water for the day. 

Yesterday was a great day - 11 glasses of water - used my new schedule for my meals again and it seems to be working.  I will do it again for another few days and see if I can keep on doing that or if the evening munchies will come back. 

Our weather has been really good for the past two day.  Sunshine really adds a lot to my day.  I dont mind staying in when we have sunshine.  I am so looking forward to Spring.  

I got a call from my grandson - he wanted to tell me that his parents where painting is room and that he had picked the colours.  Blue and green.  Now that will be interesting and not light blue and green but dark blue and green.  Oh well it is his room after all.  My son told him he had to live with it for at least 3 yrs even if he does not like it after it is done.  LOL LOL - Kids are so funny.

I am looking forward to moving back to that area this summer the grandkids are starting to question why are you not arround.  It is time for me to get closer.  

Anyway that is all for me today.  All is good - no complaints.  You all have a great weekend.

Your day sounds like mine....cleaning all day - and not finished. My house was horrible. Tomorrow I just have to steam the hardwoods and shine them up a little and a bit more general stuff. Whew! Stick with the plan - you are doing well.

Good Morning All

Wonderful day.  It is fantastic Friday.  I had a real good day yesterday.  Water is on track 10 glasses.  Food was perfect.  The 9:00 pm problem was not part of my day yesterday.  I tried something different.  I have changed the hours of my meals.  Since I am retired eating meals can be at whatever hours I wish them to be.  I had breakfast at 10:30 - Lunch at 3:00 pm and Supper 8:00 pm and put bedtime back to 12:00.  That gives me enough time after my last meal to digest.  This experiment was to see if my 9:00 pm problem would show up at 11:00 and it did not.  I will try it again today.  It is all about test and error/finding out what works and does not work.  I am feeling very optimistic about this.  I am a optimistic person anyway.

WOW what a year for snow.  It has snowed here for the past 5 days.  I am not saying that it was lots of snow but just enough to accumulate 4 or 5 inches of snow on top of my car.  Today they are calling for sun - what is that sun. LOL

I have tried a new recipe yesterday.  It seems that I have to get real creative with my cooking.  I should have been borned italian.  I so love tomatoe sauces and anything speghatti ish.  Last night supper was chicken (broiled) tomatoes (used can stewed tomatoes original seasoning) and one of my favorite veg is cabbage (pre-cooked it shreded).  Mixed it all together and let it simmer so that the stewed tomatoe taste got into the chicken and the cabbage.  It was so delicious.  (510 cal and 9gr fat only).

I try to keep my gr of fat around 20 to 30 a day.  My calories around 1200 - 1400 a day.  My carb between 70 to 100 a day.   If I keep those figures in check I loose weight.  There is a little bit of flexibility but not much.  I know what works and does not for me.

Your chicken dish sounds great!! I love broiled tomatoes. I take fresh tomatoes and slice them and put a small amount of pepper jack cheese on them and put them in the snack oven to bake until golden or broil until bubbly. I put eat them by themselves or with an egg on top. Playing with your meal times seems like a good idea if you are flexible. Hope you have a nice weekend!

Good morning all

All is good here.  I drank 11 glasses of water yesterday WOW how surprising that was - from having a hard time putting one down to 11.  It is amazing that once you put your mind at work on getting something done everything falls into place. 

I dont feel as if I have lost anymore weight but my weigh-in is only next Monday morning.  Although I do feel I have not put any on.  It is definitely going to be a longer process then I expected.  Not as fast last last time I did this.  Of course that was 15 yrs ago.  Maybe age as something to do with it and also that I am not as active as I use to be.

I am looking forward to spring and getting outside more  for walks.  It really scares me to go for walks right now because of the snow and ice.  I certainly do not need a slip resulting in hurting myself or breaking something.  I also love to go to the driving range even though I cant go and play golf because of my knee I can go and hit the ball - mind you my swing is not as good because I am very carefull not to twist my knee like I use to in old swing (I am no Tiger Woods).  It is exercise and it does get me out of the house.

Today I wan to re-look at my food selection.  I still have not had any sugars, white stuff (flour, white bread, pasta of anykind, rice etc etc) that has been easy enough to give up and I think that my sugar craving as finally subsided.  I have to admit that I did not find it all that bad to give up the white stuff and sugars.  It might just be the fact that I was ready for that move to a better life.  

I still had my 9:00 pm problem yesterday but had cantaloupe and yogurt.  I know that the selection of what I had is good but I would love to be able to eliminate that extra need I have.

It really does get easier once the sugar cravings let up. I gave up the sugar and white stuff a little over a year ago. The weight loss was gradual (which is good) but my energy level showed the biggest improvement. The 3 weeks of withdrawal I couldn't even see that I was making any progress, but once my head was clear then I realized I was eating healthier and feeling healthier. Spring is a great time for increasing your exercise, but one thing at a time - get your food plan together and get it so that it becomes a habit. You can do this!!! Wow on the water - that's my challenge right now! Have a great day!

Wow ! Good post all the way round. Try a grapefruit or 2 at night. It lowers my BP and fills me up. Maybe you can go to a short par 3 (pitch and pitt) and play there ?

Awesome post and thank you for your comments on my diary. Keep up the good work! You are so on the right track. Don't weight too often. The loss will show up and you might be more relaxed - it's just numbers! LOL! I only say this because it drives me nuts to weigh. Everyone must find out what works for them. You are exactly right when you say it's gamble buying a new car when you have had a good one for so long - that is exactly why I am reluctant! My husband has had 3 or 4 since I bought mine!

Also, re:sauce. The recipe called for 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) grated ginger, 1 (5ml) teaspoon soy sauce, 1/2 (7.5ml) tablespoon marmalade, 1 (15ml) tablespoon ketchup. I hope that's helpful.

Good morning all

Yesterday was a good day but not as good as the day before.  The good part is that I was able to drink 10 glasses of water.  I was actually thirsty.  I am rarely thirsty just something that does not happy to me too often. 

The only problem I encountered was my 9:00 pm hunger pangs.  So that resulted into more strawberries and yogurt and then some cottage cheese.  The only difference from before my plan is that these cravings where filled with cookies or ice cream or chips or etc etc.... we all know the indulgences into all the bad foods we use to eat.  Anyway that was yesterday and I will try to have a better evening today.  That is definitely my biggest problem the evening munchies.  It seems I become the bottomless pitt at 9:00.  It is not because I am hungry.  I am not beating myself up over this I am just disappointed in the fact that I am having a hard time getting rid of this bad habit.

Today is and will be a good day.  The sun is not out but it will be a sunny day in my mind.  I refuse to let this get me down.  I know I will have many bumps in my journey and I expect to have bumps but my shock absorbers are good.  Pick up and keep on going.  The alternative is just not a worth what I want anymore. 

For today:  I will set myself up to win.

I so enjoy and appreciate all of your input.  I will report back tomorrow.  Good or bad.

You did great yesterday, even during your 9pm bottomless pit episode ;) choosing healthy foods over junk food is a great accomplishment and something you should be proud of yourself for doing, instead of thinking you did something wrong.

LMAO men = problems! jk (-looks for hubby around the corner - ) What I do is have a small protein/carb snack. Usually apple/peanut butter (but im trying to stop the PB since i usually go overboard)....or greek yogurt w/ honey, air popcorn, almonds and grapes. ALWAYS leave the bag or main dish in the fridge and place whatever I have in a small cup. I also make sure my hands are busy....but that usually helps :)also having tea works too! sometimes, but eating slowly at night is a challenge im working on too....its tough!

Popcorn = get kernels. Do you have a glass microwavable bowl with a lid? Plop in some and nuke it. A cup = 30 calories. SO much healtheir....You can add youre own spices too!

Yep. I usually do a quarter cup. I do it for 2-3 minutes until the popping is pretty much done. Youll be surprised how you dont need any oil whatsoever. I also put some salt free (mrs. dash) italian spices on it and it tastes amazing!

Not sure if this will help you but before I reached my goal weight(actually I still follow the same rule) I treat my kitchen just like a restaurant, kitchen closed after dinner..Nothing wrong with having a pre bedtime snack as long as it doesn't manifest into a full meal.. Cottage cheese is a great late evening snack/dessert..Hope you have a stellar evening :)

Good morning

Had a wonderful day.  My water is on track and my food was excellent yesterday.  Got all my errand done.  The house is full of the foods that are good for me now.  The strawberries where on sale.  How I miss my February Strawberry Festival in Florida.  Next year I am hoping to be back to my routine of spending my Winter down there.  I could not take a chance for the past two Winters with my knee condition.

I have been counting my fat grams and my carb grams in each day on each item I eat.  Since I am doing a low carb low fat plan does anybody know what does numbers should be for a day.  How many carbs and how many fats are considered low for intake on a daily basis.  

Right now my fats are usually under 25 grams and my carbs are under 80 grams.   Now is that low or is that high.  They tell you everything else but they do not give you that information.  

Anyway all is good.  I am starting to feel that I might have lost some weight.

Good morning all

So happy the Ravens won.  Great game.  Well guys weigh-in was not what I expected but considering I had a problem this week with the pizza night LOL I lost .4 of a pound.  Not up but not down much.  Rather have .4 of a pound down then up.  LOL.

All is good today a new day and a new week.  Glad to here everybody had a good weekend.

I have errands to run again today that is good because that is about all the exercise I do.  I seem to be at the store often because I run out of fruit and veg often.  I can only keep so much in the house and I do want them to be fresh.  It also gets me out of the house - cabine fever.  A beautiful sunny but cold day -25C.  The snow is melting off my car will wait another hour or so and it will be all gone and I wont have to clean it off.  That is the part that I dont like about Winter.

RYC - ah, I see. Well, I hope your knee situation improves over the year that you are to keep off it; that can't be much fun :(

Good morning all

Super day.  This is probably because of all your support yesterday.  I greatly appreciated that.  I had a wonderful day - my water and food was right on track.  I have learned that nothing is worth enough or nothing tastes better than being abstinent from the toxic food that these craving tempt me to put in my body.

I so wish I could do workout like many of you do.  I basically am restricted to what I can do in house without anything that requires me to do several flexing of my right knee or accidentally putting my knee at an angle sideways.  It is a pain the ***. 

My evening temption was replaced by going to bed a little bit earlier than I usually do.  I did wake up several times in the night because it was definitely a longer night than usual but I had no problem falling back asleep again.  Evening is the only time I get cravings.  It does not happen in my mornings or afternoon. 

I hope you all have a great day - Super bowl day.  A lot of parties going on.  Enjoy your day.

Toxic food cravings! I like that. On the exercise, why not google some exercise suggestions on-line for seated exercise or something that sounds like you could do? Might be interesting.....

Since my knee has been giving me trouble, I can't do my regular 30 day shred video - or at least I can't do a lot of the exercises in the video. The one that I can do, and seem to get some benefit from, is standing with feet hip width apart, and boxing. Also, I now do the pushups against a wall - doesn't work the whole core of the body, but it still works shoulders and chest.

Just a couple of suggestions in case you hadn't thought of them yet :)

Good morning all

My day was perfect yesterday.

My water was perfect yesterday even had 10 glasses.

My evening was a disaster.  Pizza got on my brain could not shake it off and temptation won.  I am so angry at myself.  I have to find something to actually keep me busy during the evening or find a mild sleeping pill to knock me out around 9:00 pm LOL LOL .

Ok now that I went to confession I can start over today.  

I will keep my food plan today.

I will drink my water today.

I will not overeat in the evening that is my pledge to myself.

It will certainly be interesting to see how much damage I have done to my weigh-in on Monday.  Time will tell.

Ok guys I will sign off and will behave today.

Hey, I have been drinking hot herbal tea and eating a nice juicy grapefruit around 8:00. I KNOW this puts me on a sleepy mood. By 9:00 I'm done. The hot herb tea makes my stomach thinks its getting something warm and filling. The grape fruit filles my stomach with fiber and It's KNOWN to lower your blood pressure. I just can't stay awake after this one, two punch :v)

Years ago, while trying to lose weight, I'd occasionally fall off my plan and over-indulge. Afterwards, I'd be consumed with guilt and would berate & criticize myself to the point I'd give up (convincing myself I was weak-willed & destined to fail). These days, when I have an unplanned slip, I don't give it more power than it deserves. I immediately forgive myself and hit the reset button!

Over the past ten or so years, I've shed nearly 180 pounds. The ONLY way I was able to stay on track was to give myself permission to indulge, routinely. For example, every couple weeks, I will have a day where I allow myself to eat whatever I please. If I tried to stay on my plan last night and ended up attacking a pizza, I'd simply say, "Ok Lisa, let's consider that you're FREE day, now move on!"

That's worked well for me. My weight loss plan doesn't include perfection. Instead, it allows me to have occasional slips. This results in my not feeling deprived and I forgive myself much more easily when I do fall short of the mark.

I usually have some berries and cut up veggies to snack on at night with a bit of dip and a bit of salt. If I close my eyes it's like having chips. hahahahaha Hang in there. Make a big pot of soup with a ton of veggies and trust me you will be so full you will not want anything else. Have a good weekend. you can do it! :)

Good morning - Happy February

Love February - nice and short - Spring is just around the corner - Valentine's Day is coming.  

I drank all my water again - it was good - I keep a gallon of cold water in the fridge and just keep on refilling my glass once it is empty.  I only use a small glass of 8oz and that way I can just count them off.  I am still not a fan of water but it is a must and I am getting it done.  I might get to enjoy it at one point but for today it is still difficult but doable.

My food was good yesterday.  My 9:00pm munchy problem was still there - I think it is just a bad habit - not to sure it is hunger - probably not.  Living alone gives you a lot of time to think about food or other stuff.  The TV ads of course do not help.  Every 5 minutes there is a food ad. 

It would be so nice if I could do some kind of exercise.  I do all my house stuff and run my errands but I always have to take into consideration my knee (not to much standing - not to much walking).  I do everything in stages - cleaning - taking garbage out - everything with a break in between.   Mentally it is an adjustment - who takes a break after doing their dishes or after making their bed or dusting.  It is my reality because if I push it too much I am flat on my ass and ice on my knee.  Patience is definitely a virtue.  My body is getting old but my brain thinks I am still 29. LOL LOL   Well enough of my wooooowwwws.  I have had my pitty party for the day get over it - move on.
