It has been some time since I last visited. Hello to all you Old  Timers :) I have been stressed to the max and at my wits end on how to gain some semblance of control on life.

Anyway, after many months of everything other than health care, I am finally trying to re-focus on me a bit. I was able to get the P90X program and am planning to start on 9/01/09.

All for now, make good decisions :)

I'm really glad that you dropped by. I'm sorry life has been so stressful for you. I wish I had an answer for you. Focusing on your health is a good start though.

glycrina on 09/01/2009:
I have P90X too. My husband and I do it together. I haven't made it through a whole video yet but I am getting better!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 09/02/2009:
oooo, today yesterday was 9/1/09. i hope all is well!

liza36 on 09/02/2009:
So glad to see you back!! And focusing on yourself, which I need to do too. Good luck with P90X. Looks very difficult, but results look well worth it.

mskitty on 09/03/2009:
Food for Thought: The starting point of all achievement is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Strengthen Your Desire! Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat.

hollybelle on 10/06/2009:
Hey I've been MIA, too. Let us know how P90X is going or went. Don't worry if you haven't been perfect at it. It looks intense. I'd like to know about it.

Wednesday night

Hi again...

I made it to the gym, cranked 30 minutes off that poor, tired and abused ellip machine. hehehe

Calories burned were 703 and sweat dropped was too much to measure, think I freaked the Dude out next to me...LOL

Read some journals tonight and am renewed with purpose because of the faithful pursuits I have seen. I too wish to make others jealous (in a good way, of course) so I have my work cut out for me :)

It always seems to be late for me, so I will once again see you tomorrow. Thanks for being here!

Progress as of today: 65 lbs lost so far, only 95 lbs to go!

greengirl on 06/07/2007:
Wouldnt it be great if the fat just dripped off with the sweat???!! I would be well slim by now :o) Wish it were that easy. Keep up the good work, Scruffy :o)

biscottibody59 on 06/07/2007:
Good to see you back here--don't let all that "life" stuff stand in the way of your health, 'cause when it (life's stress) dies down, if you've neglected your health you're still gonnna have to deal with it! You may not always have the greatest day, but try to keep one eye on your goal at all times. Every little bit helps!

Donkey on 06/07/2007:
I usually start sweating within 10 minutes of getting on the elliptical. I am soaked through by the end. I realized today that out of courtesy to my fellow gym goers, that I should bring a change of shirt and undergarment if I plan to do anything else after that (e.g. weight training).

Donkey on 06/07/2007:
The purpose of my previous post was to let you know that you are not alone when it comes to sweating at the gym. Keep at it, Scruff, you can do it!

monet0239 on 06/07/2007:
hey Scruff.. you CAN do this.. and everyone will be jealous for sure !!

take care of you!

starfish on 06/07/2007:
wonderful job with exercise. keep up the good work!

jon'smom on 06/07/2007:

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/07/2007:
glad to see you're doing your thing at the gym still!

halley on 06/08/2007:
I keep the mantra "burning fat...burning fat..." as I do the elliptical. It seems to help.

Soon2BThin on 06/09/2007:
Soonie says "Hey"! Just take baby steps. It's veeery hard to get back into it, I know this better than most. You can do it! Have a great Sunday!

Scruffy - Wednesday Jun 06, 2007

Hi Fam!!!!

I know it has been a while since I read and blogged. It is me. I have been in quite a funk for the last few months and evidently stepped off the deep end. I have had difficulty bringing myself back to normal. I may not be there yet but hopefully am close.

My best friend has moved away and got married, re-org'ed at work, family is having issues (Dad, BooFace, etc...), surgery is drawing near (abdominoplasty-ish in August) and I have just run out of will-power.

SO, I finally went back to the gym Monday, 700 cal burn on ellip...was very good for me. I was headed there tonight but got tied up at sisters house for a few hours after fighting a headache. Not excuses, just facts of life. I will be at the gym tomorrow right after work (seems best time these days).

I only caught up on one days worth of entries, so sorry if I missed yours :(

It is midnight and I need to get rest. Thank you for all the encouragement, stay tuned for better days :)

Progress as of today: 65 lbs lost so far, only 95 lbs to go!

hollybelle on 06/06/2007:
Well, you are back NOW so you haven't run out of willpower of desire. There are always delays and setbacks or as I call them "dips in the road". Just so we (personally) aren't causing them ALL. As a friend of mine is fond of saying "there are just some things that are out of our circle of control" (sigh). Welcome back - here's hoping for better times for you! Keep us posted, dear sir!

Donkey on 06/06/2007:

borntocry on 04/10/2007:
Oh, poor Scruffy! But it's all right, you've just got to pick yourself up and get back into the swing of things. I only worked out twice in the last 7 days myself! I guess everyone has these ups and downs. I hope you feel more motivated soon!

liza36 on 04/10/2007:
Glad you came back. I've been wondering about you. I, too, need to get back into the swing of things. I too have gained weight, and the madness just has to stop! You can do it!

Soon2BThin on 04/10/2007:
This seems to happen to all of us at one time or another, losing that motivation, that magic feeling that makes us want to give our all to lose that weight. And we all hate it! I hope you get it back soon and don't beat yourself up for it. You know, if you give up completely, what the alternative will be. So be patient. It will happen. And sometimes we just have to give ourselves that little boost to get started again. Make yourself do that exercise and the rest will follow. Consider this a good kick in the a**! Lol Good luck, Scruff!

WorkingIt2 on 04/10/2007:
Welcome back. Keep moving in a forward motion even when you feel like sitting down or worse, giving up. You will be ok! You've done so much and I think it is perfectly normal to feel this way when you've been working so hard. Don't beat yourself up, just start taking the baby steps back to where you want to be. you'll be running at full-speed soon enough!

smiley2 on 04/14/2007:
Welcome back, of should i say HELOOOOOO! Hope things get better for you soon! We miss you on here!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/14/2007:
hello scruffy! all is not lost! just get back on, forget about what happened just prior in the past (weight gain). we all do these things, but most important is to remember today is a new day...not yesterday!

Hi!

I am still alive...just got burned out and busy. Needed to run away for a bit.

Soooo.....

Work is fine, back to normal, full speed ahead :( After some major deliberations, BooFace decided to go back to her mother. Big adjustment, but I thought it might swing that way. Teens want freedom and feel they deserve it. It is the day of instant gratification. Sister is calling more often for advice...I am trying to help.

Due to loss of sleep, lack of energy and just plain old forgetfulness...I made a brief comment but meant so much more. I went to a plastic surgeon for a consultation (my 3rd) and am deciding to have surgery in Summer of '07. They will take approximately 20 pounds of skin and fat in my middle/lower front.

I am back to the gym, so far about 3 times/week. I haven't been resting well lately, so got a new prescription for anxiety, side effect is drowsiness. Hopefully this will help, Ambien and Lunesta sucked....never got restful sleep with those 2 :(

I am hoping to get back on track and catch up on all of your journals but wanted to let you know where I am at right now.

Take care, be safe, make good choices :)

borntocry on 02/08/2007:
Hi Scruffy,

Glad to see you're doing well. Thanks for checking in on us! I am sorry BooFace decided to go back to her mother. But I'm sure she appreciates the time she spent with you.

geevee on 02/08/2007:
It's good to see you back again. I tried Ambien too, and it was a total waste of time. It had no effect at all, and at that high price? No, no.

A question. With as toned and firm as you appear in the photos you've posted, how is it possible to describe the surgery you described?

monet0239 on 02/09/2007:
good to see ya hun.. sorry Booface went back to moms.. I mean.. if thats what she wanted and stuff then good for her.. but I know you'll miss her.. :(..

I wish you luck on the surgery.. I'm too chicken to do sumpin like that.. bock bock..lol..

hope to see more of ya in here.. :)>. you were missed.. hugs my friend

Hey.... It has been some fun days. I don't know if I mentioned or not but BooFace has decided to stay. I will get guardianship. Also, I don't know if I mentioned or not but I am seeing a plastic surgeon on Friday to take the apron. My last surgeon had quit the practice and I had to find a new Doc.

I am not prepped for the holidays but will be vamped up shortly. I starta 4 week sabbatical from work (we get one every 5 years) on the 18th. No more work for a bit, hopefully the stress drops.

I am typing this while connected to work and listening to a conf call. I am getting burned out and need this time off :)

I am healthy, but busy. I am missing some gym time but will be back to it soon. Able to keep food 'up'...LOL

Hope this finds you healthy and making good choices, gab at ya soon!!!

WorkingIt on 12/06/2006:
Cool on the plastic surgery! I am actually considering having it done if I can't firm up as much as I'd like in my abdominal area. Keep us updated on that, it will be interesting to see how much more weight you lose when they remove the apron. Pretty exciting stuff!

Good for getting a stress break! Have a good night!

sasyredneckgirl on 12/06/2006:
Hey Scruffy thats cool on the surgery.. i would love to know how it goes My MD said that if i get to the weight i wanna get to we could talk about that because thats mainly where i hold my weight...That was Honestly my big hold up on dieting cause i didnt want a big flab of skin..

weightlossyoyo on 12/06/2006:
Congrats on the Sx! I heard that there is this place that will do it for nothing if you donate the skin. My sister REALLY needs to have it done, she went from almost 400 down to 160 with the bypass Sx. Insurance paid for the Sx but they won't pay to have to skin removed.

borntocry on 12/07/2006:
Oh, I am so glad BooFace is staying!

smiley2 on 12/07/2006:
Congrats on the guardianship....i have a good feeling about it :) Im glad you are going to have some time off.....spend it wisely ;)

geevee on 12/07/2006:
You must be providing exactly what BooFace needs for her to go along with your having guardianship. Great!

CharlieAngel on 12/07/2006:
Happy for you all around. Enjoy your time off. I so know how it feels to be burned out at work. Maybe this time off will be good for both of us.

Hmm.... Thank you for all the kind words/thoughts. I wasn't trying to abuse myself...it just...happened.

Not exactly sure where those pounds went but scale showed a 2lb drop. I weigh in every day I am at the gym. It actually keeps me in check. I was moving it today family, did my 30 for 720 burn and then cranked out 180 ab crunches. The crunches wiped me out big time and I wasn't sure why. One reason (I found as I was getting off the machine) was it was set for 5 pounds more. I forgot to check the other yellow pegs. I think my back is a little out as well, gotta go see a chiropractor...Dr. Dave.

BooFace is doing well, her grades are even making a comeback...LOL. She is getting happier and so am I. The rules right now seem tough and as she obeys and does right I so want to give-in more but I know better. She needs structure and I need to be a man of my word.

B- muffin

L- Pizza for one, side salad (Nello's special)

D- Outback, Cyclone Pasta

I am beat, been a long day. Happy thoughts for you, make good choices, see ya tomorrow.

Progress as of today: 80 lbs lost so far, only 80 lbs to go!

borntocry on 11/29/2006:
180 crunches?! I am so jealous. I need to start working out more. Maybe this will inspire me...

gonnagetthere on 11/29/2006:
what is 30 that you burned SEVEN HUNDRED AND TWENTY CALORIES???? I need to try it! I think I'd pass out! :) Great job!

sasyredneckgirl on 11/29/2006:
Dang scruffy i think my muscles would be like a noodle if i did a 180 crunches.. good for you!!

CharlieAngel on 11/29/2006:
CRUNCHES?!?! You can do 180 CRUNCHES?? My Lord, I would be lying dead in the middle of the gym if I even attempted that. KUDOs to you, Scruffy. Have a great day. Good for you with the 2 pounds gone.

hollybelle on 11/29/2006:
Yea....what is the 30? Good for niece and good for you!! Loved the part about "need to be a man of my word". YUP that's what is called for with kids. Hang tough and home and gym. Good work on getting rid of those two pounds.

geevee on 11/29/2006:
Structure. Absolutely! That is exactly what all kids need and my Marine Corp. son sure does provide it so unlike his Dreamer brother. When one doesn't know what the limits are, everything falls apart. There is such comfort in having limits.

As always, you amaze me with your physical ability. I'm sure there's not one bit of flab on your body.

Thanks for your comment. I needed that!

WorkingIt on 11/29/2006:
It isn't unusual for weight to rise and fall anywhere from 1 - 8 pounds during the course of a day or two. I weigh every other day, but don't count anything until it has been showing an increase for at least two weeks. I also don't freak out when I see it increase when I know I've been behaving myself lol. Do you take your measurements? Those measurements sometimes come in very handy when you haven't seen the scale move DOWN in a while, but you see inches going away lol. Have a good day!

Moody on 11/30/2006:
You're doing fantastic with your workouts!!! Very impressive!!

Scruffy - Monday Nov 27, 2006
(Eat less/better; Move more)
Weight: 342.0

Monday night.... Well, I have to admit, I lied. Not only did the pound come back, it brought a friend. I am not deterred one bit though. I swear I am not. I bought a quad on Friday, decided I knew how to drive it and proceeded to run it into my F150 then over a curb, through some grass until it decided my 8 seconds were over and threw...uh,no that's not the right idea...carelessly heaved, yeah...heaved my huge carcass right off. I was able to roll (many times it felt like) and come to a halt before taking out one of those hit-and-run trees.

Sooooooooooo, I ate without regard on turkey day, destroyed myself on Friday, decided to Cruise on Route66 in AZ on Saturday (stuck in driver seat, niece and her friend played the whole time :) ). I was SSSOOORRREEE :( So Sunday was out and today I forced myself to get back in the saddle again.

Did the 30, 180 ab crunches, sweat was dripping off, soaking through, just.......mmmmm....eeesh. Yep that's it, eeesh.

B- squat

L- Macayo's chicken max

D- Panda express orange chicken/chow mein

Water was very little, I have to get back to that, I swear!

Here is one of our travel pics:

sasyredneckgirl on 11/28/2006:
Good Gravy Scruffy.. glad your ok!!! glad its just some bruises you just have... Thanksgiving over just get back in the saddle again :) just think what you can do between now and Christmas :)

Jmarie60 on 11/28/2006:
Love the photo!!!! Good to see you're not to horribly hurt!

geevee on 11/28/2006:
I agree. This week was total disaster, far worse than I had imagined. It's so easy to say that I'll get back on track, but doing it is another matter. Bad habits are so easy to establish yet so difficult to get rid of. The torment I went through yesterday dying for those carbs I've been living on recently. Alloting 1.5 rolls, that's known as "portion control" was not easy yesterday. With all the good bread gone, that will help today.

Watch out for that salty Chinese food. and meals out.

borntocry on 11/28/2006:
I think we're all in the same boat!

hungryhoe on 11/28/2006:
I've always wanted to ride a quad! Next time you take it out, lemme know I'll keep you company! ;)Glad you had a great holiday... now get back to shedding those lbs.

thanks for sharing the pic.. too cool.. :).. be careful on that quad.. geesh.. your booface needs ya around ya know.. hehe ( think thats what ya call her..lol.. Ive slept since then.lol ).. have a good one.. and get those pounds back off.. and many more Mister.. heheh.later
