Okay, Sunday wasn't a very good day. Although, I don't think I ate as much junk as I used to, kind of a controlled cheat. And no exercise. Yesterday was much better, 1230 calories and 2 miles of walking up and down my street. Our street is half a mile long so I make the circuit twice. My house is in the middle of the block so I go up to one end then all the way down to the other end, then back to my driveway, that's one mile so I do this twice. Anway......Last night a dog came running out and stopped a few feet from me and growled. I froze. His owner was right behind him, he must have gotten loose. I'm afraid of dogs I don't know and then the dog started to sniff my legs and I thought "oh, no, he's going to bite me" and when his owner went to grab him, he ran away. What a scare! I do carry mace with me but the guy said the dog wouldn't bite me. It looked like some kind of pitbull. I hope that doesn't happen again. Anyway, it's getting too hot to walk outside now. I would love to get a nice new treadmill and new TV to watch while I walk on the treadmill. And I need the extended basic cable too so I can watch the game show channel while I walk. I don't know if when it goes all digital this month that we will get that channel anyway. Guess I'll be finding that out soon. Anyway, if I get a new treadmill, I'm going to get a really nice one, I think I got my money's worth with the old one. It's about 10 years old now. All righty, that's it for now. DH just left for lunch with his buddy and I feel like splurging on McD's but I won't. I have to fight that gut reaction that I get in those situations. Anyway I just had brekky an hour and a half ago, not even hungry. So I'll just go read some entries here and keep busy. I CAN do this, right? See ya later. Have a great day!

Okay, weigh in today. Not as much lost as I had hoped but ain't that the way it goes though? I thought I did much better this week than last week and last week I lost 3 pounds! Huh! Guess that was the "water weight". Anyway yesterday went just fine, only 1130 calories, 2 mile walk and plenty of water. It was still 89 degrees when I went out to walk at 7pm (we don't have daylight savings time here so the sun goes down by 7:30) but the humidity was only 5% and there was a small breeze so it wasn't too bad. My back didn't hurt a bit while walking but it sure hurts this morning. It's always worse in the morning. So I just keep on working on it, right? Maybe next week's weigh in will be better. You all have a great day today!

Yeah, you were one of my first commenters on my very first entry--seems like yesterday--haha!

Hmm, that would be interesting to see what became of Crittermama--all those boy children and the husband--I imagine she's still keepin' it all together somehow!

Don't know if anyone is reading this but I'm reporting anyway. Yesterday went well with the card party. I ate just a small portion of everything and no dinner. After everyone was gone I did eat a cereal bar, I was so hungry! But it could have been worse. I didn't drink a lot of water though, I will do better today. And I will probably get a walk in later too. I called the doc Thursday about my MRI but they still didn't have the report. So I'm waiting still. Well, that's all. Weigh day tomorrow. I sure hope I have some results with that. I think I've had an even better week this week than last week. We'll see. Have a great day!

I'm not bowling this morning and the DH is, so I'm home alone. I love my alone time. The thought of brekky from McD's keeps crossing my mind, but I'm fighting it. I don't want to ruin my good streak now. I don't have any trouble with my eating when other people are around but when I' m alone, I tend to splurge. And I was alone most of the day yesterday but I did really well, coming in with only about 1350 calories for the day. But no real exercise. I didn't walk last night, I had to do my manicure. I finally have all my nails at a nice length so I'm trying to take good care of them. I used to be a nail biter but I find if I keep them nicely manicured, I can leave them alone. And my hair is finally nice and long, always wanted long hair (do you think 60 is too old to have long hair?) Now if I can just get my body in shape. Still haven't heard anything about the MRI but I will try to call the doc sometime today. I need to get to the store for items for tomorrow's card playing. We all agreed from now on to only have healthy snacks so I'm gettting some fresh veggies and fruits. It's a good time of year for them now. And I'm making sloppy joes for lunch with potato salad and coleslaw. I bought the potato salad and DH is picking up the cole slaw from KFC on his way home. My back just hurts too much to make all that. Also making a banana pudding bundt cake for dessert. I will just eat really small portions so it shouldn't be too bad. And we play cards all day and don't eat dinner so that helps. So no exercise again today or tomorrow, I will be just too busy. I am thinking of doing Breakaway's challenge next month but I have to wait to see what's happening with my back first. So far right now, I'm only getting in the walkiing 3 times a week. The water part is easy for me, I drink it all the time, except for my 1 or 2 cans of Coke Zero every day. Okay, that's my life right now. I hope you all have a great day!

Still doing fine. Did another 2 mile walk last night. I do it just when the sun is going down and it's down to 85 degrees. I always worry about running into a coyote or bobcat though, our area is still pretty wild. So far, so good. It would sure be nice to have a walking partner. Oh, well. I just keep on going when I can. I may skip it tonight. I have lots of work around the house to do because we have card game here Friday with 2 other couples and I need to give myself a manicure too. I don't think I'm going to bowl again tomorrow either. Yep, I have been keeping on with the bowling except for last Thursday when I had to get the MRI done. It doesn't seem to make my back hurt any worse than if I didn't bowl. But probably not tomorrow, subject to changing my mind at the last minute. Bowling is my thang! Haha! Okay, I've been eating well and drinking lots of water, getting up twice in the night now, sheesh! DH is gone this morning and I so wanted to run to the McD's drive-thru for brekky, but I won't. I have some nice oatmeal and fresh blueberries, maybe splurge with an egg on a slice of toast. Much lower calorie than the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, hash browns and cinnamon melt I usually get at McD's, right? Okay, going to go make that brekky now before I change my mind, haha! Have a great day!

I'm doing pretty well this week so far. I walked 2 miles yesterday evening. The temp was 84 and the sun was going down (it's a dry heat, haha) and a breeze was blowing so it wasn't too bad. My back wasn't hurting too bad either. It sure is now though, the mornings are always the worst. My eating is going well too. Okay, you all do great things today and have a good one!

Hello there! Here I am again, haven't been here since the 3rd. Long time again. Last Sunday I weighed 176, today I'm down to 173. At least that's a little progress. Now to just keep it up this week. I walked 3 times last week, just 1 1/2 miles each time though. I am doing it in the evening, the pain is less then. I just had an MRI on my back Thursday so waiting to see the results on that. Today is a really bad day, sometimes the pain is awful and I feel nauseous so not over-eating anyway. I don't know about this nausea thing, my doctor checked my gall bladder with an ultra-sound and said it's okay, he thought sure that's what is causing the nausea. Guess we'll be pursueing that. Sometimes I feel like I will vomit but I don't. This is very uncomfortable if I happen to be away from home at the time, to say the least. I've been taking Nexium for over 2 weeks now but that doesn't seem to be helping. Anyways.....I'm doing the best I can. Staying away from McD's and eating lots of salads and good things. So far today only 655 calories and only dinner left to go. Well, just wanted to let you know I'm still out here. You all take care and I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing when I can. Thanks soonie! Though I'm glad to be a good example to a few here, I don't feel that way lately--I've been falling off the wagon a bit more in the last year than I have in the (probably) 4 or 5 years before. (Can't afford that at 50 as easily as at 20 or 30--when I NEVER even paid attention to what I put in my mouth--for crying out loud!)

Hope you get back on here a little more often--and you get good news from your MRI.

I just had a friend go through the GB diagnosis--lots of GI pain and she has GERD too, so no stones, but the visit to the surgeon who said it was 50/50 (leave/take out) seems to have done the trick. She was soooo sure she was going to have to have it removed. (The pain she thought was GB-related is gone now.) No real answers.

I'm not saying it was all in her head, but I've been reading this book about mind/body/pain connections, which is interesting on its own, and sometimes I think we work ourselves in frenzy over things we have little control and our body suffers. Here's the title/author in case you're interested: "The Divided Mind" by John E Sarno, MD--it's very readable--paperback, but I got it from the library.

And the weight just keeps on creeping up there! Needless to say, I haven't been doing well. Last weekend I walked 2 miles each day and then......! So here I am. Just wanted to confess. Don't know what I'm doing here. Just waiting for that spark to hit me and get on with it. I have a lot on my mind just now and will be really busy the next few days. Tomorrow is my birthday (60!!) and I'm just feeling so darn old! The weight thing is starting to make me panic but I don't see anything productive happening in the near future. My back and hip are still killing me and I finally see the doc on Wednesday. I'm trying to make good food choices anyway. So that's it for me. Hang in there everyone. Have a great day!

i gained a lot of weight this year. and it really does hurt your joints. do you have any money to invest in a personal trainer, that you could meet with regularly? or maybe a nutritionist. i think it's important for you to lose the weight now so you feel better SOONER!

Don't be too hard on yourself. With your back and hip hurting, it's understandable that it's difficult. Just keep coming back here (I've recently returned after a long hiatus) and hopefully the support will help.

Okay, here I am again. Sorry for not checking in for so long. I had 3 good days and then......back off the wagon again. But I'm starting over now. Just finished 2 miles up and down my road, walking at a pretty good pace. Of course, there was pain involved but I thought it would be hurting anyway so I may as well keep going. Exercise is good for the Arthur Itis, right?  Now I just need to get the food part in gear again. I plan on writing everything down and keeping track of the calories today. That should help. It has just been so long since I have been really strict with everything and I know that works. The weather here is great, it was 68 degrees when I left for my walk at 8am and the sun is shining. This is the best time of the year to get out and walk as long as I get out there early. And I may just work up a bit of a tan too. I will weigh in next Friday and let you know how that is. Okay, here's to another go at it. Wish me luck! You all have a great day!

I wish you all the luck in the world! I'm in the same place.,,fell of the wagon, but back on it now. Good job walking, in spite of the pain. Exercise helps everything about us...how we feel, how we look, helps reduce the aches and pains. So go get 'em! I'm with you!
