(Counting Calories and Exercise)
Weight: 169.8

Weigh Day! Well, nothing to celebrate. At least I did lose some instead of gaining. I did not have a good week at all. My eating was terrible. And the exercise could have been better. So today, all I want to do, after I finish at the dentist's, is go get McD's for brekky, grab some sweet junk food from the store, and eat and sleep all day. NOT!! I will not do that! I must get out of this rut. Today. I can't keep putting it off for one more day. You know, that "just one more day" thing? It starts right now. Even though I have so much crap going on in my life right now, won't go into that, I've got to get it together NOW! I hate being this weight. And most of it's right in my belly. I look like I'm 9 months pregnant. You know, that mushroom top thing with my pants. And my bathing suit, not a pretty sight. So it will be a better week this week. Okay, get out there and have a great day!

Progress as of today: 1.2 lbs lost so far, only 29.8 lbs to go!

thinnsidenotout on 06/03/2008:
S2BT~ Yep!. Tomorrow's never seem to come when it is "procrastination" truthfully... Look back at the calendar and see how fast time goes by and how all of us have the regrets of not sitking with it when we initally wanted to lose weight.... Make a soncious effort to really think about time and how fast it goes by and in a few weeks/months, you can be saying "I DID IT, I ACTUALLY DID IT!" I keep in my thoughts how good that day is going to feel both physically and mentally... Keep GOING!

maria777 on 06/03/2008:
I finally got finished with my dental work...was not fun but glad I got through it with the good Lord's help. Now it's just regular cleanings. Getting yourself a little reward from sitting in the dentist's chair should be allowable ('little' as in low-cal)...Congratulations to you on 169.8...you are back into the 160's...YAYYYYY!!!! So happy for you and you are ON YOUR WAY! YOU CAN DO IT!!! Hope you have a good day!

Go get that massage now . . . start treating yourself well; maybe you won't want to put Mickey Ds in a the body that you love and want to take care of . . . you deserve it.

Re: How do I ever get in that much walking in one day?... I must be truthful.... I am sick of being FAT and I MAKE myself go when I have the time..Sometimes have to break it up throughout the day, sometimes can do it all at once... Takes 1.5 hours to walk 6 miles....Today, I maybe got in a little over a mile, but has been hectic. Made sure to park as far away from entrances to where I was going as I could and that was it... I don't like anything near as much as walking, cause it clears my thoughts...

Have a good evening!

(Counting Calories and Exercise)

Good morning! Okay, this week hasn't been as good as I'd planned but you know what they say, best laid plans and all that.....Weigh-in isn't until tomorrow so I will post it then, after I get back from the dentist first thing in the morning. I like to get that done early so I don't have to wait all day, thinking about it. So I won't be able to go out and walk down the street as I have been doing this week since by the time I get home, it will be already too hot. I hate exercising in the heat. This morning I did 2 1/2 miles of walking up and down my street and yesterday I did 2 miles. My street is half a mile long and my house is half way down the street so I take off up one way, then go down the other side of the street to the other end, and then back up to my house. 1 mile. I keep a bottle of water in my mail box so I can stop and get a drink after each mile. I will keep working on adding more every once in awhile, when I feel like it. Yesterday I got in the pool and did some more exercise there too after first cleaning it some. That's some hard arm exercise and my shoulder cries some but it has to be done to get the bugs off the top of the water. And I swept the bottom a little too. The pool felt so good in this heat, 100 degrees yesterday. At least we don't have much humidity yet. That will come next month when we start our monsoon season. I hate that time of the year. I will keep walking outside as much as I can until it gets too hot in the morning and the humidity starts. Then I will have to do the dreaded treadmill. So boring!

Okay, I plan to have a good day today. Since I only exercised 4 times this past week and the eating was not good at all, I don't expect much of a loss this week. We'll see tomorrow. At least this week was better than the weeks before. Baby steps! So I'll "see" you all tomorrow. Have a great day!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 31 lbs to go!

maria777 on 06/02/2008:
I know what you mean about the treadmill...so NOT FUN!!!

Congrats to you on getting your 2 mile of walking done yesterday! YAYYYY!!!

You're right about baby steps...AND EACH STEP COUNTS!!!

Have a happy day, Soonie!!!

thinnsidenotout on 06/02/2008:
I tried my mom's treadmill the other day, thinking that I would like it...ICK!

You are doing great...Glad to see that you are making progress and being positive about your accomplishments....

Beth201P on 06/02/2008:
Keep up the wonderul work. I need to get my butt up and start doing some walking myself. I hope to get out next week with some people I meet online in my area who want to walk together. Should be fun. Take care and have a great week.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/02/2008:
wow! go you! i love your walking plan. i find it less boring to go one way and then the other from your house. good plan with the water bottle! :) 100 degrees! that's good you put up with the heat enough to walk in it! i hate the treadmill too.

Good morning! I'm up early again, although I almost didn't get up. The radio came on at 6 and I hadn't slept well, my hips were killing me all night, had to turn over about every hour all night. Anyway, here I am. Walked up and down my street, 35 minutes today. I'm thinking it's not quite 2 miles but close enough. I'll check it in my car later when I go out, if I go out. I feel like vegging today but I really need celery for my tuna salad and I need to clean out my closet and organize the bathroom drawers and cupboards. So that will be my day. Yesterday, besides the walk in the morning, I went to J.C. Penney Home Store, Sears, the other J.C. Penney store, Super WalMart, then on for 4 games of bowling by myself in less than an hour (99 cents a game, I couldn't resist) and Sprouts for my apple cider vinegar pills, blueberries and cherries. So I had a busy day with lots of exercise. The eating part wasn't so good but better than it has been the past few weeks. I'd give my day a 5 out of 10. Will try to do better but I'm just taking baby steps. Tomorrow will be no walk in the morning since I will be bowling my usual Thursday bowling with friends. I'd rather bowl any day than walk and it's exercise too. At least I can do it pretty well. I had a 223, 214, 163 and 194 yesterday. I'm carrying a 182 average with my Thursday morning bowling this year. Anyway...... Get out there and have a great day. I'll be back later to read and comment.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 31 lbs to go!

Beth201P on 05/28/2008:
I love bowling. I don't go because no one to go with. Baby steps are good. Have a great time. ((Hugs))

thinnsidenotout on 05/28/2008:
I haven't bowled in years... Need to take our kids one of these days soon... My dad had a league team when I was growing up and I would watch him on Tuesday nights... He was a barber, so the team's name was "the Clippers"...

You are doing good getting back into the routine of things and I REALLY am excited to see your progress in these next few weeks to come...

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/28/2008:
i see the bowler in you hasn't stopped! :) yay for some fun!

I'm glad to hear your Mother is back home and doing much better and things (hopefully) are better for you now, too, with your being back home, Soonie.

Looks like you're still getting plenty of exercise, no doubt about that...with the walking and the bowling! YAYYYY!!!

Thanks for the encouragement about everything...including what you said my coming back (which, you're probably right as I already miss DD)...I came here in December 2000, so you've already been here over 8 years because you were here in 2000 but a long time before I was...seems I found DD when I was surfing the 'net'. Hey, we go back a long way! Hehehe!!!

Hope you have a good nite! Love, Maria

Okay, let's try this one more time! Hey, peeps! I'm back! How many times have I said that in the last 8 years?? Well, I'm doing it again. This is it, better late than never. I got up early this morning and walked up and down my street. That's 2 miles altogether. Took me 38 minutes. I was not breaking any speed records. But it's done and I feel pretty good. The temp was 66 degrees at 7:15am. Tomorrow it will probably be warmer in the morning, going up to 100 by afternoon, so I will get up even earlier to get my walk in. When it's too hot in the morning, as it will be here soon, I will start doing my treadmill. Also I plan to start going to the gym (how embarrassing, I'm so fat) twice a week, mainly just doing the weight training. Diet will be low-fat and low-cal, also a lot lower in sugar than what I have been doing the past 2 months. I'm diabetic and I've been suicidal in my sugar intake. No more of that. I'd like to make 165 by June 9. My first goal. So that's the plan, not complicated. I can do it. I've been here before, many times. So I'll be back tomorrow to let you know how it goes. Take care, have a great day and stay strong.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 31 lbs to go!

Wow, I can't believe it has been that long since I made an entry!! Did one get lost there somewhere?? Guess not. Anyway, I'm finally home now, Mom is doing better and at home too (at her own house). I just came home yesterday and can I say "THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME"!!! Wow, I love my house, I love my bed, I love my shower, thank you Lord!! I just hated staying at Mom's, am I a bad person? I mean, I love my Mom but she's just not my favorite person, ya know? Anyway I'm glad to be home! My diet and exercise are in the toilet but I don't think I have gained too much, I've been very busy, taking care of Mom and her house, and also my house since the DH has been gone for the past 3 weeks. And I'd like to say I missed him but ya know, I could use another 3 or 4 weeks without him. I am so bad. I know, be careful what you wish for and I'm trying to keep that in mind. Sooooo......I guess I will have to get back to normal now very soon and do the diet and exercise thing again. The weather here has grown very hot all of a sudden and I feel like I missed the nice spring weather, short as it was. Now there will be no more walking outside (90 plus degrees temps) so I will have to do the treadmill again. At least I can do some pool exercises very soon, when the water gets warmer. Okay, that's it for now. I'll try to get back here soon. I hope you're all doing great!

Progress as of today: 5.6 lbs lost so far, only 25.4 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/12/2008:
arizona is already in the 90s, wow! over here in NY the weather has suddenly gone cold again. I swear, it couldn't be above 50 today and the wind was kicking in. It was also rainy! I wouldn't mind your arizona weather right now lol. then again, that would mean shorts and I'm SOOOOOO NOT ready for short clothes with how i look haha.

i know what you mean about wanting your privacy/alone time. I get like that often, too. when you just want time by yourself.

greengirl on 05/12/2008:
Hey Soonie, we are having warm weather here in the UK too but nowhere near as hot as that. Our temps are in the 70s and it feels lovely and balmy :) Good luck with the diet and exercise thing !!

BIG WELCOME BACK, SOONIE!!!! Big smile to you! I am SO HAPPY to hear that your mother is better and able to be back at her home again! I know how it can be, taking care of '2' homes AND your mother, too....EXHAUSTING, to say the least. Sounds like you've got a good plan in place to walk on your treadmill...as for gaining weight, it's no wonder with all you've been going through...now it is time to concentrate on YOU. Love, Maria

You are not a bad person at all - I stayed with my mother when we built our house (my husband stayed with his daughter - all to save renting an apt.) I could not get out of there fast enough! And as for the husband, we have made it a ritual to take separate vacations every year (we go somewhere together, but I always get my alone time,as does he). I think it has helped make our marriage a little stronger, actually.

Time to focus on you! Have a great week!

(Counting Calories and Exercise)

Okay, at least I have not gained much weight but my eating is terrible and the exercise is non-existent! I did get out and walk for 2 miles on Monday morning but none since then as I am still very busy and just don't care to try to fit it in. I did bowl on Thursday morning and I guess that's some exercise anyway. I bowled a 205, 222, and 214, a very good day and I was happy about it. The fat woman CAN bowl!! But my clothes are getting tighter (they must be shrinking, haha!) and I would just love to lose about 10 pounds for now. DH is leaving me on Tuesday for his sister's in Memphis to visit with his Mom who lives with her there. He hasn't seen her in over a year and will be gone for 3 weeks. He will also visit friends and family in Cincinnati. So I will be alone for awhile and taking care of things until Mom gets out of the hospital, then I will be staying with her until she feels more comfortable to be alone. She's progressing well and her shoulder is feeling better. Did I tell you she fell and broke her right shoulder? Can't remember if I did. Anyway she had all kinds of other problems too so is still in the hospital until she can walk unassisted. May be another week or so, who knows. I visit her every day and take care of her cat, mail, laundry and paying her bills, among other things. But it's getting easier and I have more time for myself now. Anyway I will enjoy the vacation from DH I think. I need some alone time. I'll try to get back on the wagon soon or do the best I can. Hope you're all doing great! Thanks for all your comments.

Progress as of today: 5.6 lbs lost so far, only 25.4 lbs to go!

I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVEN'T BEEN HERE FOR SOOOOO LONG!! I'm so sorry, guys! Time has just gotten away from me. I've been very busy with taking care of my Mom. She has fallen a couple of times lately and been in the hospital, then rehab for her broken shoulder, then back to the hospital after the second fall, where she is right now. Her blood pressure has been very low, she suffered a small concussion with the second fall and she hasn't been able to start much therapy on the shoulder yet! Sheesh, I even have a hard time keeping up with what day it is. I'm taking care of her cat, paying her bills, making sure she has what she wants at the hospital, getting her mail and trying to keep her morale up. It's a full time job besides taking care of my usual things at my own house. I get no help from my 2 sisters and brother so it's all on me and the DH, mostly me. And I've been so worried about her on top of all that. Can you say "basket case"? I know you know what that's like, Maria777. I hope your Mom is doing better and you too. I haven't been here to read in so long, I hope everyone is doing well. Okay, gotta go, just wanted to check in.

Soonie, are you sure I didn't write this post??? Sure sounds familiar.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom and also YOU...all you are going through...it is certainly NOT an easy task when you are the sole caregiver...

Yes, I SURELY understand how you've been away for so long...it takes just about ALL your time...and you are 'on call' day and nite...and don't get much rest, etc, etc...I don't have any advice to give, except, pray and ask the Lord for His help and take it one day at a time...It is SO HARD taking care of 2 households at a time as well as go back and forth taking care of your Mother and trying to keep her happy and nevermind yourself...I know...the Lord knows, too...

Thanks so much for letting us all know how you are...I would say be sure to take care of YOU, too, but alas, I'd sure be a BIG HYPOCRITE if I said that, cause MOM comes first and that is the way it is, isn't it?...I know you love your Mom...I love mine, too.

I hope everything gets better VERY QUICKLY and I will be praying for you, your Mom, and your DH. Love, Maria

So, the poodle skirt...When I looked for a pattern, I found it would cost almost as much for that as if I bought the skirt ready-made from E-bay. I'm just still not sure. I thought maybe I could make it without a pattern, you know, just cut out the circle and cut out the waist and attach elastic at the waist. But I would have to measure it all and figure it all out. Not as easy as it sounds. When I look at the ones on E-bay, they look so easy to make. So I'm still pondering the situation. Not a whole lot of time to do it though. I did find purple felt yesterday, it was $4.49 a yard. Anyone have any suggestions? Okay, yesterday's eating was not as good as it could have been, I had almost 1500 calories but at least I did count them. I just need to eat better food. And I didn't do much all day, vegging and watching TV, besides going out to check out my options on the skirt. I'm hoping today will be better. I have bowling this morning and pinochle this afternoon so that will all keep me busy. Well, you all have a nice Thursday. Catch you later!

Progress as of today: 7.8 lbs lost so far, only 23.2 lbs to go!

thinnsidenotout on 02/21/2008:
I have been able to GOOGLE some patterns for free printing, but not sure how that would work for what you need...a lot of splicing paper together to get the pattern... Do you have any thrift stores around you that you could check out and maybe customize a skirt?... If all else fails, I always check the thrifty's....sometimes pretty lucky!...

Have fun bowling & at pinochle.....GOOD DAY!

borntocry on 02/21/2008:
Circle skirts are pretty easy but yeah, making clothes yourself tends to be more expensive than buying them ready-made, that's why I've stopped doing it. Circle skirts need loads of fabric, too. But you don't really need a pattern, do you? I made mine the way you mentioned - just cut out a circle, attached a waist band and zip and hemmed it all up. It looked fine to me, but like I said I still wasn't confident enough to wear it out in public. That was more because of my hem than anything else, though...

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/22/2008:
WOW..I've never read an entry that began "so, the poodle skirt!" HAHA! It made me laugh in a good way! You are quite the artist and creator over there! Congrats on a well-spent day and calories!

feeleebubs on 02/22/2008:
Making a circle skirt really is pretty easy...but material is soooo expencive. Sometimes it's just not worth the time and mess. Less than $5 a yard is nice though. But felt might be a pain in the rear to sew on and attach elastic to. :-/

Happy Hump Day!! I hope you're all feeling as good as I am today. Yesterday was a pretty good day---1284 calories and I went for a 40 minute walk around the neighborhood in the afternoon. I would have gone longer but the DH was worn out. But now that I think of it, I should have kept going by myself. Oh, well. It was 66 degrees, the sun was shining and there was a little breeze. Perfect for walking outside! I'm kind of worried about the DH though, he used to be in better shape and could outwalk me anytime. Anyway, I got up early this morning and already walked 40 minutes on my treadmill. So I'm off to a good start. I have to go out later to find fabric and a pattern to make a poodle skirt for our next Red Hat luncheon. We're having a sock hop! I found some skirts on E-bay but I thought maybe I could try to make my own. It depends on how much it will cost for the fabric and pattern. Wish me luck. And you all have a great day!

Wow...40 mins! TERRIFIC!!! and 1284...that's something to feel good about also! Have fun sewing! I used to sew when I was a teenager...made my own dresses and wore them to school. Good that you and Hubby are walking together! Good weather for walking! Have a nice day!

Ha, that's a fun little project for you! My friend once made a popcorn dress for halloween. It was so nonsense and silly, we never forgot about it. haha. Good job on your motivation. May be time to change the alias to VerySoon2BThin. :)

Make your own, make your own!! And post pictures when you're done! I loved the stuff you made for yourself last time. I made a poodle skirt for myself once, but never had the confidence to wear it out in public!

(Counting Calories and Exercise)
Weight: 163.2

Well, yesterday was a disaster! But I'm over it now and back on the plan. I checked the scale and it only went up .4 of a pound, probably only that much because of the great day I had Sunday. I think that's how it works. Anyway, today will be much better than yesterday. Although, I didn't get up early to do my exercise. I plan to do it later this afternoon. Okay, I guess that's it for me. See you again tomorrow. Have a good one!

Progress as of today: 7.8 lbs lost so far, only 23.2 lbs to go!

Good for you. It always helps when the scale doesn't show much! You keep it up. I love those ten pound markers. They say that is a dress size down! Have a great day.

My, my - look who's been such a good Soonie lately! Don't let one bad day get in your way. At least your efforts haven't been all for nothing like mine!
