(Counting Calories and Exercise)
Weight: 159.4

Good morning! How are you all doing this fine morning? I'm doing okay. I didn't count calories yesterday but I think I did okay, not perfect, but okay. Here's how it went---I left here after having my strawberry shake mix and some cantaloupe, picked up Mom and got to the restaurant at 10am. Almost everyone was already there, we had to walk through the restaurant to our private room in our jammys, lol. We had a good time, as usual, we old ladies can really cut loose, heh. I feel that all my hard work on my jammies was under-appreciated though, I didn't win a prize, boohoo! You should have seen some of the get-ups! One lady had cream on her face and curlers in her hair with a scarf tied around it. Anyway, I ate the veggie omelette (forgot how to spell that) made with Egg Beaters with a dry English muffin and hot tea. CalorieKing says it's 310 calories but I thought that seemed high. Maybe they included the hash browns that came with it, which I didn't eat, not one bite. So I did well. I don't care what you do to Egg Beaters, they just taste "blah". Needed some cheese and ham, I thought, lol. We got out of there about 12:30 and I took Mom home and went to Target. We needed a new toaster since our old one quit working weeks ago. Of course, I looked around at other things too. Bought some more sport socks and found a racer-back workout top made with that fabric that dries instantly in my size marked down to $6 and something! It fits great and I love it. Too bad it was the only one in my size that was marked down or I'd go back and get more. Okay, I left there and had to stop at Sis and BIL's to pick up something she'd printed up for me since I can't print anything without my other puter. Then I stopped at Walgreen's to exchange a cheap watch I'd bought the other day that I had broken a small piece off the band trying to get it out of the packaging. No problem, they gave me the exchange but I failed to look to see if it was running so it needs a new battery. That will probably cost more than the watch did! I got home at 2:15 and was ready for some lunch. I splurged and had 2 tostadas. I make them with FF refried beans but topped them with regular shredded cheese. They were so good but too many calories. At about 5pm, I got on my treadmill and walked 2 1/4 miles. I added in a little jogging this time. And since lunch was too much, I only ate my shake and some almonds for dinner. So maybe the damage wasn't too bad for the day. I haven't gotten on the scale though for the last couple of days, I'm too afraid to see it, lol. I do go to get weighed Friday at my acupuncturist's office, his receptionist handles the weightloss program so she will see how I am doing so far. So this will keep me doing well the next couple of days. I think maybe this will help me to keep going with this weightloss thing. And the shakes do help me from getting hungry during the day.

Okay, so this morning I got up at 6 and did my treadmill for 2 miles, adding some more jogging in. I just finished my strawberry shake and here I am. It's not even 8:30 yet! I don't have anywhere I have to go today so I hope to get some housework done. I did have the DH take my pic yesterday before he left but I don't know how it turned out. I have to wait until #3 son gets our puter back up and running before I can download the pic from the camera. He's supposed to come over today and work on it, replacing the motherboard and I don't know what else. Hopefully it will work then. I'm glad I have this laptop to use or I'd go crazy! I may do some more walking later, I don't know. Maybe I will get some more pool time too. It's going to 100 degrees today but the pool will not be very warm since it has been cool the last couple of days. I just get in to get wet so I can lie out in the sun and not roast.

So that's it from me. Same ole Soonie! I hope you're all doing great. I will try to get back here later to read some entries although I just may be too busy doing housework (yeah, right!) I need to get caught up. Get out there and have a wonderful day! And stay healthy!

Progress as of today: 11.6 lbs lost so far, only 19.4 lbs to go!

Well, I didn't do as badly yesterday as I had done last Monday. Still not good though. I didn't count calories and, okay, I ate a jelly donut and a pack of those dark chocolate Kissables candies. Otherwise, not too shabby. I went for my acupuncture treatment and it was great. I lay there on the massage table with my face through the face thingy (on my stomach) and my arms outstretched and needles everywhere! And he puts a heat lamp pointing at both shoulders, nice and warm. Relaxing oriental music and low lights. I almost went to sleep. But not quite, so relaxed and sleepy afterward! But, alas, then I had to do some grocery shopping. I went to Sprout's, Walgreen's and the grocery store. Okay, that Walgreen's didn't have the t-shirt I saw in their add for Father's Day that I wanted to get for the DH in his size (it has a pic of a bass and says "you bet your bass I'm retired", I had to have it!) so after I went home and dropped off the groceries, I went to 2 more Walgreen's and finally found one in the right size. Also got a 99 cent card for him, he'll appreciate that. He hates when we have to spend a lot of money on a card that just gets thrown away. So he will be surprised on Sunday.

Anyway, I didn't get any other exerise in for the day. We had a nice storm in the afternoon, cooled things down to about 70 degrees, nice having the doors open to air the place out, lol. So I just vegged the rest of the day. The DH was trying to nap anyway, after fishing all night, so I had to be quiet.

Okay, that's it. Red Hat Lady PJ Brunch this morning at 10 at Denny's. I will try to get someone to take my pic for you if I remember my camera. DH will be gone with his neighbor buddy so he won't be here to take it before I leave. Then I just have to figure out how to upload it on here. Help! So you all have a great day. I'll see ya tomorrow!

Progress as of today: 11.6 lbs lost so far, only 19.4 lbs to go!

I'm glad you had a relaxing time. That's so nice for our bodies to just let them unwind! Good job on finding the T-shirt, and I am a BIG fan of inexpensive greeting cards. I always feel guilty spending $3-$4 on a piece of cardboard!

Have a healthy day!

Happy Monday!! Well, my scale says I only lost .2 of a pound this week. I know I had 4 days of no exercise and 2 days of bad eating so I'll take it. Although I walked 2 miles yesterday and ate 1375 calories. I know if I keep it up, it will happen. It's just sooooo slow! Today I have an 8:30am appointment with the acupuncturist, I got up at 6 *groan*. I started reading a new book last night and could hardly put it down. So I was up til after 10. The DH left yesterday afternoon with my brother to go fishing at a lake north of Phoenix all night. Call them "crazy". I sure wouldn't stay up all night just for fishing! Anyway I slept fine even though I was alone all night except for the cat. I set the burglar alarm and that makes me feel safe. And we have bars on the doors and windows, heh. Anyway I slept fine. And here I am. I did finally get in the pool yesterday, up to my neck this time. BRRRRRR! 78 degree water temp. But it felt good to lie out in the sun. Getting a little color. I don't stay out long, about 20 minutes on each side. Today it is cloudy and expecting some rain maybe. Blah! Tomorrow is the Red Hat Lady PJ Brunch so probably won't get back out in the sun until Wednesday. I'm thinking of taking the day off from exercise today but maybe not, I don't know. We'll see how I feel about it later. After the acupuncturist (I hate typing that long word!) I need to stop at Sprout's, then Walgreen's, then the grocery store. I'm taking water, my shake mix and some almonds for my morning snack while I'm out. I will have my oatmeal before I leave at 8. DH probably won't be home until this afternoon.

Okay, I think that's it from my end. How are you all doing? I'm still missing Maria, geevee and BTC. I hope you're doing okay, ladies. Have a great Monday, everyone! Take some time to smell the roses! Or whatever!

(Counting Calories and Exercise)
Weight: 159.6

Okay, the scale said I'm back down to what it says above, 159.6. How much do you think I can lose by weighin tomorrow? Lol! Yesterday I only had 1080 calories, of which 270 was supplement and diet shake mix. I just wasn't that hungry and maybe that shake stuff is working on me. In fact, now that I think of it, I counted last night's shake and I didn't drink it after all because my stomach was feeling queasy. So only 995 calories for the day. And I only had oatmeal for dinner because I just couldn't stomach the thought of chicken and veggies. So a low-calorie day. That doesn't happen much with me! I also did 3! that's right, 3!! miles on my treadmill. I was feeling good and just kept going. Of course, my body ached last night, lol. Probably just 2 miles today. So far I've just had 2 eggs, 2 toast and green tea, which the DH prepared for me this morning. Oh, no butter on toast, just SF jelly. So 270 calories for brekky. I'm trying to eat small meals and snacks every 3 hours and it seems to be working so far. Soon I will get on the treadmill. I did get into the pool finally yesterday, 77 degree water temp. Well, only up to my knees, lol. Then I splashed water on my arms, chest and legs so I could lie in the sun a little, I'm so pale. Maybe more today. Maybe I'll just jump right in and get it over with. I'm so spoiled with the heater we had, wish it was fixed.

My right arm is doing about 95% better and I go for another treatment tomorrow. He thought it was probably just a pulled muscle. If it persists, I will see my doctor. There are a couple of movement tests that he does to tell if it's arthritis or tendonitis, neither of those, although I do have some arthritis in my right shoulder. I think if it was torn rotater cuff, it would still hurt a lot. Thanks for your concern and advice, WorkingIt.

Okay, that's all from me today. I did get here to read some entries last night and made a few comments. I really miss it when I don't get here. I noticed Maria and geevee are on the missing list. Hurry back. I hope they are okay. We all need breaks sometimes though. I'm glad to see the Scruffman back again. I'm wishing great success to you all!! Hang in there. We can do it!

Helleeeeewww!! How are you all this fine morning? I slept in a little more than usual--didn't get out of bed until 8am. It felt gooood! Now I feel great! Still haven't done my exercise but that will come in after brekky. It's almost 9 now.

Well, yesterday was a good day, I went over a tad on the calories because I'm still eating up the LC pizzas that were in the freezer, also there are some other diet dinners I need to eat. The pizzas are 350 calories each, way too much since I am trying to eat small meals every 3 hours as they told me to do on this program. So I will be cutting back after the dinners are gone. DH doesn't like them and I hate to throw things away. So.....the shake mix stuff is keeping me from being overly hungry and I'm down 4 tenths from yesterday. I went and had my pedicure in the afternoon and my toes feel great! And I got a nice dark red color, looks sexy, lol. I should do that more often, although, when it was time to pay, she said "we only take checks or cash now"!! I usually use my credit card, I use it for everything, so convenient! Fortunately I did have enough cash for the fee and tip. I need to start carrying a check with me just for occasions such as this. Reminder: go get a check to put in my wallet! I know I will forget. Anyway....I felt so pampered!

Did I tell you that Applebee's sent me an e-mail saying to print it out and use it for 2 free WW dinners any time we want? Remember I had contacted them from their website to complain about the undercooked veggies with the WW dinners. So they did read it and VOILA!! Free food! Gotta love that. I will just tell the waitperson to steam the veggies more than they usually do. Trouble is, I can't print it out because my puter is down and I don't know how to hook up the printer to the laptop! So that will have to wait for #3 son. I hope he gets our puter fixed soon, we're waiting for a new motherboard.

Okay, time for brekky. Oops, just had to plug in the power cord to the laptop cause I ran out of power from the battery. There now I can finish. At least I didn't lose my whole entry. Well, where was I? Oh, yeah, brekky. I'm starved! So you all have a great Saturday! I'll be back!

I dont like to throw away good food, especially when it costs so much in the first place. We are such a throwaway society!! I always end up eating weird food combinations when I have to clean out the fridge or freezer LOL. Have a great day, Soonie :o)

hehe, i really enjoyed reading your entry...especially the last part! i can tell you are in a good mood and happy! have a wonderful day and a good breakfast!

WorkingIt2 on 06/10/2007:
Can't recall if you'd had an MRI on your shoulder to determine if you have a torn rotator cuff? I think we talked about this before, but I'm not sure. If so, excuse my entry lol. I just know a few people who have torn them...one was done when he fell off his horse, the other was during a drug bust, and the one..well, she was making the bed! They would all have periods of time when they could still do things and not hurt so very much, but the nagging pain was always there. And then when they did decide to push themselves, the pain became unbearable. Two of them have had surgery, one is still trying to wait it out. However, the one thing that seems to be common information is that a torn rotator cuff can only be fixed via surgery.

ANYWAY, I hope you feel better soon and get some rest and relaxation!

Alrighty, then! I am overwhelmed with all the comments and advice! You're all so sweet! Here's the news---my right arm is feeling better, still hurts certain ways I move it but the acupuncture treatment really helped and I'm going back for more on Monday morning. Now the tendonitis is acting up in my left shoulder again and the reason for all my other body aches is good old arthur, you know, arthritis. My left ankle, my right knee, my left hip, my neck and shoulders. This body is going to H-E double hockey sticks, lol. Ah, old age. But the best thing for that is "movement", I must keep it moving. And lots of stretching too. So that's it, deal with it! So far this morning I have walked 2 miles on my treadmill so I'm back at it. 4 days of no exercise. Needless to say, I will not be bowling for awhile. DH went by himself to bowl with the gang yesterday, waaaah, that makes me sad. I loves me bowling, ya know! I didn't go since I still couldn't raise my arm to shower and wash my hair and I was a mess! Finally showered last night and it weren't easy, heh. Now I need to do it again. I have an appointment for a pedicure at 1:00, at least my feet will feel good, lol.

I started the new plan that my acupuncturist's office offers--"Firstline Therapy"--and I bought the supplement shake mix "Ultra Meal 360 Plus" that's supposed to provide vitamins and minerals and help the metabolism. We'll see. Yuck, it's not that good either, needs some ice cream, lol. I take it twice a day and eat a good meal plan according to how my body burns calories. It came out that my BMI is 28.3 and I burn about 1500 calories a day just doing nothing. So with all the figuring I need to stay under 1455 calories a day to lose weight with my 2 miles of walking 5 days a week. I was doing less than 1400 before anyway. And certain foods I can eat and certain ones I can eat no more, well, for 12 weeks anyway while I'm doing this program. We'll see what happens. I just started yesterday and didn't do any exercise but ate 1435 calories. The shakes are 190 calories each and my Arginine Plus with magnesium that I take for my blood pressure is 80 calories so there's 460 calories already. Although I'm starting out with only one scoop of the shake mix instead of 2 at a time because it tends to bloat you until you get used to it and my body gets gassy from the soy that's in it. So hopefully over time I can increase it to the 2 scoops of mix at a time. The first time I took it yesterday, I used 2 scoops in the shake and I felt so bloated and gassy and my stomach hurt for hours. With just one scoop I felt okay. I will go back next week to get weighed in again. Their scale weighed me in at 165 point something. I said "you're scale is wrong" lol. But I had just drank 40 oz. of water and had my denim shorts and t-shirt on, no shoes. This morning my scale said 161.2 so I have gone up some. I did not eat well on Monday, did well on Tuesday and not well on Wednesday because I was planning on starting this new plan on Thursday, heh. Trouble is, I still have some LC dinners and other things that I'm not supposed to eat on this diet but I'm going to finish them off anyway, I can't bear to throw them out. So that may slow down the weightloss even though I'm staying under the calorie limit. What a pain!

Okay, I think that's it. I'm just going to do the best I can. Thanks for all your great advice. I'm mending and feeling better. Guess I will never be pain-free again in this lifetime. Oh, well. Things could be worse. Have a great Friday and weekend. Hope you're all doing wonderful! (or is it "wonderfully"?)

A penguin walks into a bar and asks the bartender "Have you seen my brother lately?" The bartender says "I don't know. What's he look like?" Haha.

Well, things have gotten worse. As the day wore on yesterday, my right arm got worse and worse. I had a hard time getting it comfortable last night and didn't sleep well. It HURTS!! It's worse than the left one had been. I can hardly raise it. I must have really damaged something in there. So no exercising for awhile. I know, you may say, why can't I still do my walking? Well, I'm in pain with the arm all the time and I just don't feel like doing anything! So that's how it is going to be. I'm surprised I can still type but it does hurt doing this. So I won't be long. I'm still going to the acupuncturist this morning, although I doubt he can help my arm problem. I will still get the treatment for my sinuses and hot flashes. I would have canceled the appointment but it was too late when I realized my arm was so bad. So I will go. It's so tempting to just chuck the whole diet thing, I want to eat for comfort. But I was doing so well I don't want to give up now. It will just take a little longer. So hang in there. Stay strong and it will happen. Be patient. (this is as much for me as you all) Have a great day! Oh, I forgot, I went to the casino yesterday, I decided my arm couldn't handle the bowling and I was right because it just got worse without bowling. I shouldn't have gone to the casino either, it wasn't pretty, lol.

Well, here I am. Dragging in from the fiasco of yesterday's debauchery! I was evil again. But that's my Monday, it gets me through the week. So back to the good Soonie today. Don't have any real plans so far, a nice brekky and then maybe back to do some work on my bowling, I don't know. Maybe make that my exercise today. I thought about going to the casino too but think I'd rather bowl, although my right shoulder is hurting some. Maybe I need to work it out. It seems the herbal supplements are not really helping me any and I will discuss that with him tomorrow when I go for a treatment. I feel like my body is in more pain than ever. I've been working out with weights for at least 2 days for 4 weeks now and that pain should be over by now, I think. This is something else. My legs hurt every time I stand up to walk. Once I get going, I'm fine. But why do they hurt? I'm not that #@*& old! What will I be like in 10 years, if I make it that long?! I thought the working out was supposed to be good for that and keep you young. I just get worse! Okay, nuff whining!

I ate and ate yesterday, felt bad with all that sugar, not going to do that much again, I think. Maybe just one treat on Mondays. I'm still learning. I only bowled 3 games since I didn't bowl good enough to make the first cut. So I stopped at the store, bought some junk food and went home for lunch. Bad, bad, bad. Must start showing some control. But it wasn't because of the bad weighin, I had planned this all week, it gets me through the week. Now I will get back into it strongly and maybe have some loss this week. But I think I'm not going to push myself as much, no 3 mile walks, just to see what happens. But I will keep the eating part as good as possible. Also with my appointment with the acupuncturist tomorrow, I will get my BMI and all that other stuff checked and talk about diet and supplements for that. Maybe they can give me a boost. I'll let you know. Then after my 9am appointment, it's off to the gym for a good workout. The thing is, I need to go for my appointment on an empty stomach and drink a quart of water before it, so I will have to take something for my brekky before the gym. Probably a Special K protein bar, I need to buy some more of those today.

Well, I still haven't been in the pool yet, maybe later today. The air temps have been over 100 degrees the last few days so maybe the pool is finally warm enough now. I hope you all have a great and productive day. Yes, biscottibody, both sexes of the quail have the little topknot thing on their head, so funny looking, the female has duller coloring, as in most birds. Greengirl, funny thing, divided by a common language, lol! Thanks for all your encouragement. See y'all tomorrow!

Don't you just find all this getting older lark a tad depressing, with all it's aches and pains! I do. Still, we have to fight the good fight to keep going!! I cant imagine temps of 100 degrees. That would be a once ina lifetime extreme over here in england. Take care, Soonie :o)

Okay, up .6 of a pound! What the heck?! And don't give me all those lame excuses, it's not muscle, it's not TOM (I don't have those anymore, I'm OLD!) so I know it's just that @*@* scale god trying to get me down. But that won't happen (well, I'm trying anyway) I worked my you-know-what off this week but I did have a couple of slip-ups, didn't think they were too bad. I just know these things happen with the scale and it's probably nothing I did wrong---maybe. Yesterday, I ate 1160 calories, didn't eat the salty stuff and drank lots of water. I bowled 4 games with the DH in an hour and walked 2 miles on my treadmill. I know I had more good days than bad last week and I will go on. It WILL happen, in time.

Heh, the quail are pecking on the kitchen window right now, telling me it's time for their food, so funny. So anyway, today will be bowling in the 9-pin no-tap tournament and then who knows? I think I will not do any more exercise than that today. Giving my body a little rest. And I plan on having a few goodies too. Then tomorrow it's back on the wagon. Oh, I watched another movie yesterday---"Children of Men"--pretty good but sort of hard to understand, they were all British, sorry, all you UK people out there. But we find that when the actors are British and they talk fast, the DH and I have a hard time understanding them. Of course, we're just old hillbillys anyway, lol. Anyway.....

Okay, this is the start of another week. (must go feed the quail before they peck themselves right through the window (flashes of the movie "The Birds",lol) Hope we all have a great week! See ya laterz.....

C'est la vie, Soonie. Sometimes crap just happens, usually when you are weighing yourself on the scales!!! You have been doing great, but lifes just not fair!! Keep your chin up!! Good Sunday morning, everyone! Here I am, it's 7:25am and I'm almost ready to go bowling. Can we say "bowling fool"?! Although I'm aching all over! I had a good workout yesterday, about 90 minutes or more, including 2 miles on the track and 1 mile on the treadmill (love their treadmills!) and a quarter mile cooldown. I like the way you just hit the "cooldown" button and it automatically lowers the speed gradually. And I did the usual 10 weightlifting exercises. I RAWK!! Then time to go home for lunch. During lunch I watched "Hannibal Rising". Oooooh, gory film! But pretty much like the book so it was good. I talked to #2 son a little, he's enjoying his new job so far. He lives in Cincinnati so I haven't seen him in quite awhile. Then I took a shower, got on the computer to find some bargain airline prices, they keep changing and we're going to Maui in October so I'd better get on it, but didn't get in here to read again. It was past time for my dinner and while eating that, we watched "Man of the Year" with Robin Williams, pretty good movie. By then it was time for bed. So I didn't get much done yesterday except working out and watching movies! Rough day! Oh, and I only ate 960 calories so I made up for Friday. I just hope the scale thinks so too tomorrow. My size 12 shorts still don't feel any looser this morning and I don't really feel like I've lost weight. I'm nervous to get on the scale in the morning, haven't been on it all week though. I'll settle for any loss at all. I think I've done really well this week except for a couple of small slip-ups.

So today will be bowling with the DH, then straight home, no eating out today. And I will probably do some walking on my treadmill at some time today. I hope to get here later and get caught up with you all. Meanwhile, have a great Sunday, stay safe and have some fun!

Progress as of today: 12 lbs lost so far, only 19 lbs to go!

I will keep my fingers crossed that you get another good result on the scales this week, Soonie. You are doing really good with the exercise again. Well done :o)

I think you should watch all three Shrek movies..they are really good! Well, I haven't seen #3 yet, but the first two were great lol. So are both Ice Age movies. And the pool jogging...it is a fantastic exercise if you love the water, the outdoors and being a bit cooler while you workout. And it isn't an easy workout by any means...unless, of course, we make it easy..but it is like anything..you can push yourself or take it easy or find a happy medium! I hope you have had a wonderful day today!

Sounds like you had a awesomely perfect Sunday!! I love those movie workout days, of course for me that means getting everything done by Saturday!! =0) Looking forward to reading about your loss! Hannible Rising was pretty good. I read the book before seeing the movie (finished it a day or two before the movie came out) Saw Pirates 3 this weekend with our kids and hope to go see Bug soon... have an awesome day!!!
