UPDATE: Good news!!! I got the summer job at Johns Hopkins!! SO ill be in maryland for the summer....just wish they would agree for full year job but we shall see!

Good Morning! Taking a break from Insanity today to head to the gym to work out with a new friend after work. Everyone have a great day!! 

B (630) - Greek Plain Yogurt, PB, Apple Butter, Bluberries, and toast. 

S (930) - Green Tea and Edamame

L (1230) - Salad (Spinach, tomatoes, and chicpeas) and 3 hushpuppies

S (330) - Left over edamame or some more green Tea

*Gym = 45 min elliptical, 15 stair master, and some ab and leg work!

D (630) - Grilled Chicken w/ Pita Bread and some back bean salad

 Good morning all!

Went up a lb, but thats to be expected since yesterday I kinda let myself go but I'm sure it will eventually go down this week. I finally believe I have figured out how much I need to eat in a day.....which is actually less than I have been eating (sad) but thats in order to lose weight....Guess Ill be researching more low cal goodies for me!

Yesterday started my day off with a nice 3 mile run...later were gonna blast through with some insanity :)

B (6) - Greek Yogurt w/ honey and pb, toast, and some sausage (oh yes, I was hungry LOL)

S (9) - Green Tea

L (12) - Baked Sweet Potato w/ tomato

S (3) -  Plain No-fat yogurt

* Insanity

D (6) - Grilled Chicken w/ Pita bread and salad

S (9) - Green Tea

When we wobble up and down a pound, could it be fluid since that is so easily retained and flushed? I'm starting to think it takes a lot more than a day of overeating to "form" a pound of fat seeing how hard it is to "dissolve" that same pound of fat. It seems that when I work my hardest instead of losing, I have a temporary gain before a loss. Just my crazy observation! Keep up the good work - you will be back in the 130's in no time!!

Thanks for the comment. Sometimes I worry that DS might have a hard time making friends because of his Aspergers. DH and I have a dear friend who was the MC at our wedding who also has Aspergers - these little things give me hope for my son's future. (And yes, some people with Asperger's are quite brilliant! My 3 yr old can do math problems that could stump some kids more than twice his age!) Oh, and I find low sodium soup always helps when I'm trying to shave off a few calories. Do you like to cook?

Do you have the nutrition plan that came with your Insanity package? If you're not following it to a T, thats ok, but it may help you determine if you're getting enough lean protein and good carbs from produce. My armband told me early on that I wasnt eating enough calories, but it was the P90X nutrition guide that told me I wasnt getting enough protein for my muscle building needs. Once I added more protein, I actually started losing weight again so you may want to look into that and set a daily protein goal in addition to a calorie goal.

Yea, the stomach flu is super nasty this spring so he might be still recovering from it. A lot of my friends with babies are having to rush them to the ER to get them properly hydrated. Nothing makes me more sad than seeing a baby hooked up to hospital machines. :(

i follow it sorta....it says i need 1900 calories BUT I'm scared to eat that much since when I tried I only saw +lbs....I settle with the 1600 ANDDD I'm pretty sure I need more protein just because I know when I stare at zach eating his turkey and ham sandwich and I'm drooling thats never a good sign HA. Maybe ill try to add the foods and we shall see!!

YAY! I made it into the 139s! Feels good to be back. I checked my measurements and they are getting smaller which is always awesome. Always wondered though, to meausre your hips do you measure around the butt or your hip bones? I've always been doing the hip bones because well....thats the area where the major problem is lol

Zach and I got into a huge fight......well nonverbal fight. Apparently his car wasn't working so he tried to call me for 30 minutes. I didnt hear it since I was finishing up some homework and when he got home he just flat out ignored me (it wasnt like it was 3 hours, it was 30 minutes....) so when he gets mad, I give him his space to cool off. He decided to ignore me all night and this morning.  Its stuff like this that reminds me that he still has a bunch of growing up to do. Ill just be the bigger person and not get pissed off like i feel at the moment RAWR! lol

Im gonna try to relax this weekend, but....Ive got loads of work for school and work to do! :/

B (6) - Oatmeal w/ homemade jelly and some pb

S (9) - Apple

L (12) - Lettuce, green peppers, sprouts, cucumbers, tomato, onions, Low Fat Alpine Lace Swiss cheese & fat free honey mustard on a whole wheat bagel = omg YUM!!!

*Insanity - Pure Cardio

D (7) - HMMM im thinking fish again

S (9) - Green Tea

Congrats, your hard work is really paying off!! As for the measurements, I've read to measure your waist at the smallest point and your hips at the widest point so that's what I do. I think as long as you're consistent about where you measure each time you're fine and will be able to see your progress. Good for you for not letting Zach's little tantrum upset you, boys! ;)

Yeah for the weight loss and the measurement decrease! Don't worry about Zach. My hubby and I have been together for 35 years and when something bothers him, I always get the silent treatment. He pointed out in the past that guys "don't need to talk things out - they just need to get over it" And that's what makes us different!!! Let him get over it and everyone will be fine - and skinny!! Hi All!

Didnt end up doing insanity last night and ended the night with french fries! (OOOF!) So, today were gonna have to bring it. Yesterdays resistance class will be saturdays cardio recovery.....

ALSO, as an experiment to understand my body I've realized that I "gain" about 2 lbs during the day and lose it when I sleep....So, before I go to bed if I'm at 142-141, ill be at 140-139. Oh my experiments lol. Of course this changes if I eat after 7 pm, drink a lot of water and dont go to the bathroom, and if I eat a heavy meal before bed. 

B (630) - Oatmeal w/ apple butter, grape jelly, and little bit of pb

*1.25 mile run

S (930) - Healthy mini muffin

L (1230) - GROSS. Work served chicken salad on white bread and a couple of potato chips. 

S (330) - Didnt bring any to work :( When I get home probably an apple. 

* Insanity - Pure Cardio

D (630) - Healthy salad tonight! Lettuce, grape tomatoes, pepper w/ olive oil and black olives and some broiled fish

S (930) - Green Tea

Thoughts: Too much grain tonight. Don't over eat at night.

Insanity vs French Fries, it was a big battle but French Fries won!!! But not tonight I see. Yes we gain about 2lbs during the day, I have read that it is best to weigh at about 9am after exercise but before drinking or eating. We are at our lowest weight then!! don't laugh I have done this when I have been desperate:) LOL

Hello all!!

So the 140 on my scale was the 138 on my other scale...and i dont if any of you remember but the 138 (140 now) is that daggon plateau mark that I couldnt get passed for about a month!! Not this time, I'm determined to see a 139 soon.....

I have a TONNNN of grad school work tonight and starting my independent project for NOAA (I asked if I could do the internships on the weekends since I dont get paid ansd they said yes :) ) 

B (730) - Oatmeal w/ tb of pb and 2 tb of apple butter

S (1030) - Energy ball

*Hour walk around work

L (130) - Grilled Chicken salad w/ eggs, beans, brocolli, some cheese, carrots, lettuce.

S (430) - Apple

*Insanity - Cardio Resistance and Power (One of my favorites!)

D (730) - Salmon w/ Esparagus

S (930) - Green Tea

I'm laughing about "your other scale"! I was seriously considering buying a new scale because I have an old Krups and sometimes you step on it and if you bounce a little the number changes. It's not digital, it's the old needle and spring style. But my big fear is that I will weigh even more on a new scale. Isn't that ridiculous??? let go of the numbers let go of the numbers let go of the numbers let go of the numbers... Good luck on your project!!!

Hi all!

Today is my break day from insanity, but I'm gonna go to the on base gym to work out on some things that I haven't in a long time...

I started the day off with a big big breakfast, so were gonna adjust the food quantity today.

B (730) - Whole wheat tortilla, turkey sausage, black beans and some grapes (i know its weird for breakfast, buttt i was craving some protein)

L (11) - Carrots and Greek Yogurt w/ honey

*Gym - Treadmill, squats, and stair master (total 1.5 hours)

S (1) - Grapes

D (530) - Grilled Chicken w/ edamame

S (8) - Either left over carrots, tea, or popcorn

On to Goal 2: another 5 lbs.

This weekend was great food and exercise wise! In fact all of last week was so I hope I can duplicate it. This weekend Zach and I bought some new baseball gloves and literally played catch friday night, saturday night and all of yesterday. My arm is still sore but we figure that playing catch is good exercise, we like it, and it doesnt cost us any money!

This week I hope goes fast. I have to do some more job hunting and do some grad school homework. I go home to NY May 11th, so I've got a 'date' to get down to 130 :)

Impressive results for your weight loss!! Isn't it fun when you can exercise and don't even realize you are doing it? Throwing a ball is so basic yet you can work your arms by either throwing over or under hand. And you can get cardio too if you don't catch well and have to run for the ball!!! Good luck this week and thanks for the early BD wishes!

Boy did I need it. Up bright and early. Zach had to go do his PT , which means I will too. About to go outside for the morning run...even though I just wanna go back to bed for the next hour. BUT I've got 2 lbs to lose by April 1...Then comes the next 5 lbs for May 1....and 5 lbs for June...and then July....and by August I SHOULD be at my goal....hopefully :)  

B (6) - Oatmeal w/ PB

*Morning Run - 1.25 miles

S (9) - Apple

L (12) - Egg white roll ups in spinach leaves, some salsa and pepper.

S (3) - Grapes

*Insanity - It is suppose to be cardio recovery, but since I'm not going to be at home tomorrow...I figure Ill tomorrows pure cardio and tmrw will be cardio recovery

D (6) - Egg whites w/ spinach, brocolli, low-skim milk cheese, tomatoes and some garlic queese

S (9) - Blueberries w/ frozen yogurt

Isn't amazing how inspiring that pound loss can be? I am happy for you! I've been frustrated that the scale wouldn't move and I went to put the ankle weights on Monday and realized that 5 pounds is freakin' heavy! And I'm trying to lose 5 of these??? So then I settled down and realized it would take time to drop a pound because that really is A LOT!!! So when another pound came off today I was really excited because I realize that pound is really heavy!!! I guess it's all in your perspective. Have a great weekend!!

THE HUNGER GAMES movie is coming out sooooon!!! we are going to raleigh to see it in IMAX because well, i loved the books that much lol. If you have spare time and want to read a good book, i suggest the hunger games trilogy OR see the movie!

Got my 1.25 mile in (12:50, 20 seconds off my last week run :D). Coming home and doing some more insanity. For some odd reason, yesterdays plyometrics was rough on me...but I only stopped once this time and didnt stop at all during the warm up.

TOM is here. Joy......Were gonna have to find a way to sway those nasty cravings....

SO...I just found out that I have been accepted for an internship to work for NOAA at their National Weather Service....which is awesome, because its what I really WOULD love to do BUT!! its not paid :( x 100. We do have some savings, but....not enough......so I'm gonna have to decline the offer. Shoot.....Wish the Johns Hopkins Program would tell me if I got it yet! Now that ones paid!! 

B (630) - Oatmeal w/ tb pb

S (930) - Apple

L (1230) - Spinach, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms + grilled chicken

*2 mile walk after lunch

S (330) - Carrots or fruit

S(430) - Preworkout snack...something....

My daughter loved the trilogy! I'll have to let her know to be on the lookout for the movie. She seems to like her books much more than the movies though. She said the whole Twilight series was much better in the book and she has reread all the Harry Potter books numerous times. She buys all her books in hard back and we are in search of a nice bookcase to display them. Would you believe real wood bookcases seem to be a thing of the past?? Hope you get some good job news too. That internship sounds interesting, but interesting can't pay the bills...

The hunger games - I can't wait to read it! I read an article about it in my daughter's school journal the other day, sounds good! The book is always better than the movie, so keep expectations low, lol!

What's the matter about those people who expect you to work for free? I hope you get that call from Johns Hopkins soon!

Hi all! Super busy day for me. Went to a job fair and went back to work and now Im still here lol. The job fair went "ok". Wish they could be a company that would sign me a position on the spot but we all know that wont happen, so Im gonna stick to my appling to new jobs. 

Tonight is grad school homework night sooo hopefully I can get my insanity in before homework time!

B (630) -  Oatmeal & PB

S (1130) - Apple

L (130) - Chilli w/ beans and a diet coke

S (430) - Raw Veggies (Carrots, brocolli and cauliflower) + low fat ranch + Lara Bar

D (630) - Grilled Chicken coated w/ panko with low-skim milk pepperjack cheese on cauliflower crust

S (930) - Honey Oat Minimuffin (used applesause instead of sugar and butter, tasted the same!) = oats, honey, some whole wheat flour (found white whole wheat flour at walmart...interesting right?), applesause, skim milk, egg and u can add some pb and bananna to it too and that was it. delish!)

Exercise: Mile walk + Plyometric Insanity

Menu sounds nice Sara! I'm getting ready to experiment with apple sauce in my baking. I was told to use it to replace oil or eggs. I bought it trying to use it for the sugar (I bought no sugar added) so I wouldn't have to use so much artificial sweetener. Did you muffin have honey in it too or just the apple sauce?
