Geez.....I cannot believe a whole month has passed since my last entry. So much has happened that I don't know where to begin. I will do a brief recap below and try to spare all of you the minute details of everything that has transpired since my last post. Here goes:
10/30 - hubby had his gall bladder removed. It went very vell. Prior to that (about 3 days before, he had a cardiac catherization to get ready for his open heart surgery) so was poked and prodded quite a bit during these two procedures.
11/11 - beautiful day - daughter's wedding. It was perfect from how she looked to the weather and the venue (golf course). The guests all had a fabulous time. We had people travel from as far away as Japan and England to share this special day with us. I will try to post some wedding pics once I find out how to do it. They spent their wedding night and the next day at Disney World. That Wednesdy, the left for Rome and Florence for ten days. They had a wonderful time and are now back at home in Silver Spring, MD.
11/20 - hubby had his aorta valve and stem open heart surgery at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne FL. Surgery was approximately 4 1/2 hours. I stayed overnight at the hospital on Monday, the 19th and Tuesday, the 20th. My son stayed with me the night of the 20th. We wanted to be close at hand to monitor hubby's progress during the first 24 hours which is most critical. Believe it or not, he was released on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Today marks three weeks since he's had the surgery and he is doing really well. He is off all painkiller meds and only taking Tylenol as needed. Tomorrow he goes for a checkup with his heart surgeon to discuss his progress thus far. He cannot drive for approximately 5-6 weeks so that means I am the official chauffeur.
As you all know Christmas is only two short weeks away. We were able to decorate the outside of our house and put a few things up inside but we are having the living room floor tiled so we didn't put up the big tree yet Tile work is going to start on Thursday. Our good friend and neighbor who is a contractor does all of our big projects around the house. He estimates he'll be done by Sunday or Monday. Son has offered to come and put up our 9 ft. tree. Speaking of son, he and his wife will celebrate their 2nd wedding anniversary tomorrow (12/12). They are doing well and very happy.
As for me, well, the scale is up a bit. I'm struggling to cope with all that has been going on during the last month. I am a stress eater - always was, always will be. I still attend my Friday WW meeting and plan to get back on track and lose the remaining 28 lbs. That resolve remains unchanged.
I miss not checking in with all of you but I often thought of my "buddies" and wondered how you are all doing. I hope you're well and getting ready for the holidays. I will check in with each of you personally within the next couple of days. I just wanted to write this post to let you know that I have not abandoned DD and am alive and well.
Progress as of today: 52.6 lbs lost so far, only 28.8 lbs to go!

Just stopping by to say "hello" and check in. Been a rough couple of weeks. Posted +1.2 lb. gain at last week's WW meeting. Hubby had his gall bladder removed on 10/30. He stayed overnight and came home on Halloween Day. He's a bit sore but otherwise feeling pretty good. I have to admit that I'm SO tired of hearing the same story over and over and over to everyone he meets about the gall bladder procedure. It drives me crazy!!!!! In a few minutes, his sister and brother-in-law (who I'm not particularly fond of) will be arriving from NJ to spend the night (thank God only ONE night) as the wedding festivities are starting to get underway. I know I must sound really awful but all during the years (40), this guy has been less than friendly. He doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy, if you know what I mean. I tolerate him for hubby's sister sake but I can personally take him or leave him. Tomorrow I'll be cooking a dinner for them, my son and DIL and daughter and her soon-to-be hubby. After supper tonight with the BIL and SIL, I have to run to the airport to pick up the bride and groom. Hopefully with the crappy weather in the mid-atlantic states, there won't be too much of a delay. Still have last minute running around to do and quite frankly I didn't want to be hosting a dinner or two but it seems that's the way it's shaping up. Hubby cannot understand what the big deal is (that's because he doesn't do all that much to help). Needless to say, I want to do a lot of stress eating over all of this but fortunately I'm trying to keep this in check and the scale is hovering around 200.
Sorry I'm venting but it does help to write it (or type it) out. Hope all of you are doing well and keeping safe. My heart is heavy for the folks in NJ, NY and other northeastern areas that were affected by Superstorm Sandy. My beloved Jersey shore has been heavily damaged and although it will be rebuilt, it will never be as I knew it growing up. Please donate to the hurricane relief efforts if at all possible.

Just stopping by to say hello and to post my .8 lb. loss for the week bringing me below the 200 lb. mark which I had briefly seen two weeks ago. Been struggling the past few weeks to stay on track. Just too much stuff is going on. It is difficult for me to cope. Hubby just received word that he needs to have his gall bladder removed next Tuesday. They are going to fit him in as an emergency patient as his cardiologist wants the gall bladder removed and time to recover from this procedure before the heart surgery which is being planned for the end of November (will get a definite date for that when we meet with him on 11/14). Meanwhile, we are only 2+ weeks away from daughter's wedding. She shipped her dress to me and it is absolutely beautiful (I was with her when we bought it but I had forgotten just how pretty it is). I need to have it pressed for her along with the bridemaids dresses and my dress. Time is getting short....Unbelievable how fast it is approaching.
Tonight we are going to a haunted house fundraiser with our good friends. We went last year and it was nicely done. I like to support area charities and good causes when I can. Tomorrow, son and DIL are having a pumpkin carving and pot luck dinner get together with some neighbor friends. This should be fun and hopefully get hubby's mind off of all of his upcoming surgeries for at least a little while. Sunday is a fall festival and craft fair in Mount Dora. Never been there before so I am looking forward to checking out a new area in central FL. Going with son and DIL and our good neighbor friends. I love crafts!!!!
I'm going to check in on all of you. I hope if you're in the path of Hurricane Sandy, you are taking necessary precautions. Today we are experiencing high winds here in central FL but from what I've heard, that is pretty much the extent of what we'll be getting. Stay safe!

Geez, it's been a while since my last post. A LOT has happened and I'm not quite sure where to begin. First off, last week I posted my FIRST gain of +1 since beginning WW on 2/10. Today when I weighed in, I lost .4 of the 1.0 lb so I'm still .6 above my lowest weight since 1995. I'm OK with this in view of other events that have taken place recently. On 10/7 I rushed hubby to the ER as he was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. He is scheduled to have open heart surgery the end of November. It turns out what he was experiencing was not heart related (thank God) but an accute gall bladder attack. Bottom line, after several tests were conducted (he had to stay overnight), the determination was made that he'll need to have his gall bladder removed after the heart surgery and daughter's wedding which only THREE weeks away. He was put on heavy pain killers which he doesn't like to take. That Tuesday, he had a caridac catherization done to determine how strong his heart and arteries are for the upcoming surgery. Fortunately, he is OK in this area which will make withstanding the heart surgery more successful. During all of this, daughter and future SIL were here for four days doing final wedding prep. Everything is coming along fine on that front. My dress is being shortened and should be ready by the beginning of November. I'm hoping to be 195 by then but that may not happen (we'll see) as I'm losing a lot slower than anticipated (plus I'm a huge emotional eater which doesn't help).
I'm going to close for now and check on all of you. Hope you're have a successful day today.

Happy almost weekend:
Just checking in to say "hi". A storm is currently brewing outside but thankfully hubby and I were able to cut the lawn and do the edging earlier today. I do this every Thursday as it helps burn calories for Friday's weigh in although I'm up in the air about attending tomorrow's meeting. I love my WW group but since daughter and future SIL are arriving from MD at 12:20 p.m., I need to run a few errands. Hubby is going to pick them up. Their first order of business is going to the court house to obtain their marriage license. It is do or die that they get this done tomorrow as Monday is a holiday and they leave Tuesday. Daughter has a list of last minute wedding errands to take care of. All I know is that I am "scheduled" to help them wrap bridal party gifts and go with her on Monday for her hair and makeup trial. There is also a really nice fall festival taking place in Celebration to welcome in the season. We plan on meeting up with son and DIL and our good neighbors to dine in the area and check out the activities - should be fun. This is scheduled for Saturday night. Sunday I'm going to do a family pasta dinner so we can finalize all of the wedding details. At that point we will be only five weeks away. Sister departed on Tuesday after an almost two week visit. We had a good time but both of us were glad to see it come to an end. She missed her home and her routine and I'm the kind that needs private time. She'll be back for the wedding.
Foodwise, it's been a bit of a struggle this week. Have a lot on my mind as hubby is facing some major surgery the end of November. As the time is drawing closer, he is getting anxious and rightfully so. I will post more once I find out the details of where and when. The crux of the problem is that he needs to have aorta valve replacement surgery which, in essence, is open heart surgery. He's had heart related issues since he was a child (he's now 62). So, we have happy times with the wedding and Thanksgiving and fearful times with the upcoming surgery. I am SO nervous, I can only imagine how he feels. Please keep us in your prayers that we have a positive outcome. Thanks!
Going to see what's up with you all. Have a good evening!

Just a short post to let you all know, I've achieved my mini goal (not so mini to me) of entering "onderland" when I weighed in at Friday's weekly WW meeting. I really didn't think I'd done it but surprisingly I actually posted an additional .2 loss for a total of 1.4 lb. for the week. I made a little "speech" to my fellow co-WWers about the last time I was below 200 which was in 1995 and how emotional it was for me to be there once again after such a long absence. After the meeting, a lady came up to me to tell me how good I looked. It was very touching and meant so much to hear. Only 24.6 lbs. to go.
We had a pre-birthday BBQ today at my house for my upcoming BD which is on Monday. Son and DIL came over. Sister is here (since 9/19) and the food was delish (made grilled chicken legs, pork spareribs, steak, mac 'n cheese, tomato & cuke salad with fresh baby spinach and WW pineapple upside down cake for dessert).
Hubby and I are dog sitting for our good friends who are in CA (due back tomorrow). We love their dogs but cats are definitely easier to care for. We go to their house twice a day to feed and walk the dogs. We stay for a while so they can roam around the house and have some human interaction. They are good dogs but I'm glad this gig is up. We only have to go in the morning as they are due back about 5 p.m. In fact, I'm getting ready now to go take them for their evening walk as hubby and sis are at Downtown Disney.
Will check in with all of you early next week. Hope you're having a good weekend.

This is the second time I'm trying to leave a post. The last one disappeared into cyberspace. Hope everyone is doing well. Posted .8 lb. loss for the week which was truly a Godsend because foodwise I had one of the worst weeks ever. It seems like I'm deliberately sabbotaging myself to getting to "onderland". Why I want to do that is a mystery to me. I think I'm afraid to achieve success even though I've been working towards this goal for the past 7 months. Now that it's almost here, I'm beginning to play "games". I need to get my head on straight so I can weigh in at 199.8 or less next Friday. That certainly is doable - only 1.2 lbs.
Sister arrived on Wednesday morning. We are having a nice visit. She will be here for two weeks. As much as I love having her here, I need to have some "alone" time. I've always been that way. I like to be in quiet solitude for a while just me and my thoughts. To give me some alone time, hubby and sis just left for the pool. It's very humid here today in central FL and our community pool stays open year round. When they return, we will run a couple of errands. Later hubby and I have to go to our good friends to dog sit. They are in CA until 9/30 attending a family wedding and visiting. They also are meeting their new granddaughter (she was born in June). Very excited for them.
Seven weeks from today is daughter's wedding. I cannot believe how quickly it is approaching. Need to make an appointment with the seamstress to get my MOB dress shortened. In fact, I'm going to do that now while it is fresh in my mind.
Will check in on all of you in a little while. Hope you're having a wonderful day.
Progress as of today: 55.4 lbs lost so far, only 26 lbs to go!

Lost only .4 lb. for the week. Need to step up my gameplan if I want to get below 200 for my BD which is two weeks away. Sister arrives this Wednesday for a two week visit. We are planning to go shopping for shoes and a purse for my MOB dress as well as take some nice long walks and dip in the community pool.
Nothing much is happening which is good because in 8 short weeks, it will be daughter's wedding day. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone. Today is her 31st birthday. She was in NJ visiting friends for the weekend and had her bachorlette party in NYC yesterday. She said it was phenemonal. She and her fiance will be coming down to FL over Columbus Day weekend to do last minute wedding prep.
Hubby played in a charity golf tournament today. He does NOT play golf but since it was a fundraiser, he agreed to participate. He's now taking a nap.
Going to check on all of you to see how your week has been. Have a good evening.

This week has flown by! Don't know if it's because of Labor Day or what but I can't believe it is Friday and once again weigh in day at WW. Lost another 1.2 lbs. this week. I am SO happy because I'm only 2.4 lbs. away from seeing 199.8 - something I haven't seen in 17 years. When this happens, it will be very emotional as I've wanted this for so long. My sister is coming down to FL for a two week visit arriving on the 19th and leaving the day after my birthday on October 2nd. Looking forward to that. She will be able to go to my WW meeting and witness me enter "wonderland". It will be nice to have her there to share it with me.
Tried on my MOB dress and it's fitting really nicely. It seems that it has gotten even longer than it was before. I'm going to have my neighbor's mother, who is a very talented seamstress, shorten it. Will probably go see her a month or so before the wedding so she has enough time to do it.
Salinger (aka Little Big Boy) is responding very nicely to the meds we've been giving him twice a day for the last month so I'm happy to be able to report that. He is such a sweet cat - very loving.
Made the WW pineapple upsidedown cake which is 4 points per serving. Although it was disastrous (used a springform pan which leaked all over), what was left in the pan tasted delicious. Going to make it again since I bought the correct pan at Bed, Bath & Beyond the other night.
Will check on you all later. Hope you are having a good day.
Progress as of today: 54.2 lbs lost so far, only 27.2 lbs to go!

Happy Saturday (and Labor Day weekend):
Waiting for hubby to get out of the shower so we can head over to the huge flea market in Sanford, FL. Haven't been there is a long time so it should be nice to see all of the new stuff they have.
This week was a very hard week food plan-wise. I've got stuff on my mind and am trying to figure out how to deal with it. It makes me want to eat even though I know it doesn't change what's on my mind. Food is comfort for me. Despite all of that, I still posted a .6 lb. loss for the week. I am truly shocked because I was anticipating my first gain since I began WW on 2/10 so, to date, I'm down 53 lbs. I had the nicest compliment yesterday when I was shopping at JC Penney. As I'm inbetwen the plus size and the "regular" size, I look in both areas now. I was in the plus size and a sales person asked if I needed help. I told her I was just browsing. She said that these clothes are way too big for me - that I needed to go to the misses area because I looked like a misses Extra Large or Large. I just smiled and told her how I'm doing WW and have lost 53 lbs. so far. She was very impressed. I went to the misses section and found three cute tops that I happily purchased in XL (wearing one now). This experience made my day and gave me the positive boost I've been needing.
Hubby is finally ready to leave for the flea market so I will check in with all of you later. Hope you're having a wonderful holiday weekend.
Progress as of today: 53 lbs lost so far, only 28.4 lbs to go!
