Its been a few days since I have written. For some reason I have been soooo tired lately that im taking a couple days off from working out. I am doing good on the diet still but I am having a hell of a time going to the gym cause im quite tired. Anyway, just gotta stick with it! Bought a racquetball racket so hopefully that will get me to go the gym with my buddy to throw down on some racquetball.

Anyway, gotta go, the floors are probably dry in the kitchen and need to finish up! :) Hope everyone is doing well.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 63 lbs to go!

You might eat more protein if your tired. Thats what happens to me to. I eat water packed tuna and it is a picker upper! You can do it, so hang in there. Sometimes its just finding the right things to eat.

Mellow day today. Actually gained a pound back and have no idea how I did that. If anything, I ate less yesterday and exercised more. Eh, ill be back down to 290 tomorrow morning so im not gonna stress.

The end of the day kind of got to me. Again, the roommate and his girlfriend made a killer dinner consisting of a hot pastrami and swiss and ortega chilis........after that they sat down with a box of russel stovers milk chocolate and they were talking about how good it was!!!! What i dont get is that my roomie and his girlfriend are super skinny! Sometimes I hate skinny people. I was pretty pissed so after I watched american idol i went to the gym and did 45 minutes of cardio and a few heavy weight leg workouts.....Its getting harder and harder to stick to my plan but i have to do it. Got a meeting with a personal trainer tomorrow to develop some good exercises for my mending back so that will be pretty cool. Anyway, nighty night folks....my meeting is early! :)

It can get frustrating especially when you seem to gain a pound out of nowhere. Weight is subject to gravity and, as we know, there are a lot of things that factor into gravity. While you may not have consumed enough water and salt to really gain a pound of fat (which is impossible to gain a pound of fat in one day because it isn't about only eating 3500 calories, it is about not burning ANY of those calories, and we burn calories even when we breathe)...it will affect gravity which will drive the scale up a little, sometimes up to seven pounds of pull will affect the scale. Which is why most of us who don't want to be ruled by the scale and become scale-phobic, also take measurements and pay attention to the way our clothes fit. When you start getting into the weight lifting to preserve your muscle tissue, you may find that you will not see a drop on the scale, but that you've lost inches. This is because you've replaced the weight of the fat with the weight of the muscle so you'll not see a shift in the scale..but you will see better body composition. Some people are afraid to weight lift because of this reason, which is silly because the more muscle you have, the less room you have for fat and flab and the better your body systems function. And if you don't preserve the muscle, you will be setting yourself up to regain weight later as you'll have no muscle to burn calories. Your body will actually burn muscle tissue before it burns fat. At any rate, I know how you feel with getting frustrated and how it spiked on you when you saw that gain on the scale even though you've been doing everything the right way. Don't worry...just keep up the good work and you will see the results over time. Do take your measurements and also pay attention to the way things fit...it goes a very long way to helping keep frustration at bay. Take care!

I love your positive reaction to eating challenges - go to the gym and burn some calories! I couldn't have handled the pastrami at all.

I think it's only normal for weight to fluctuate from day to day, so don't worry about it.

Yeah, your roommate and his girlfriend will get fat eventually (trust me on this one!) whereas you'll be running marathons what with all the training you'll be getting every time they piss you off by pigging out in front of you!

I hate it when people consume food around me that I can't partake in (especially if they keep offering it to me over and over), but one thing I have learned that helps me is to say to myself (and really know it in my heart when I say it) is that yes, I could have that, but it won't get ME to my goals and that the person(s) eating the thing I am envying or wanting is at a different place than I am. It may be good for them, but bad for me. I also try to eat some of whatever it is I want - BUTY only a VERY little bit or I try to figure out what I CAN have that is kind of like a close substitution for it. If they are having the hot pastrami and cheese I may have a 1/2 of that or make a cheese and vegetable grilled sandwich with peppers, etc. Just some ideas. It's not as easy as just joining in, but more rewarding. Regarding the skinny people who eat like that.....I have known people like that, too. What I usually found out is that they don't eat like that all the time, they actually hardly ever eat, but when they do they each big and whatever they want. But then again, there are just those people who are blessed with very fast metabolisms. Sigh....not fair! You are making some really good choices. You know peppers and onions have no calories at all hardly and they taste good with just about everything. Salsa is also another good add in that is extreemely low cal. Low cal doesn't have to be "plain" cal. It sounds like you cook for yourself a lot and quite well - Keep up the good work.

Going to the gym--what a great choice! Buy baby carrots and munch on those when that happens. Its sometimes, just having something in your hands. I do that for work when we are having meetings and all are eating donuts! I even take that package tuna, that you don't have to refrigerate and put it on a plate and eat it. They all laugh, but, it shows how committed I am. People have even come up to me after and said how proud they are of me! You can do it!!!!!!!

Pretty good day today. Cooked salmon for lunch and am just taking it easy. Turned in my resume for a job on the ambulance and I have high hopes for that.

All I can say is that i have been breaking out lately since I started my new diet! Hopefully its just my bodies way of saying I hate you for working me so hard and that it will give up and the acne will go away. I feel like im 16 again!

Not gonna hit the gym tonight and am going to recover today. Long night at the gym last night and definately some sore muscles!

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only 65 lbs to go!

Try increasing your water intake (minimum of 64 oz a day), to see if your skin clears up. For some reason, whenever I dont get enough water, my skin gets dry & oily and breaks out.

Or perhaps, all you need is a new cleanser to wash out the extra dirt that builds up after you exercise. :o)

Good day so far...........went to get a hair cut and a few other things around town. Gonna learn how to play racketball tonight with my buddy Nate.

Havent had much of an appetite and am doing well with my consumption but am having a little trouble getting to the gym. Just dont feel like goin...

*Nighttime Update* Super workout today. Worked out for like 3 hours tonight including racquetball. I am tiiiiirreeeed! Gonna sleep in and work on my resume tomorrow!

go anyways! :-P Or give yourself a reward for going, maybe buy a movie, or, I don't know do something you really enjoy. :-) Try to find ways to motivate yourself, and then once you get into the habit, that will be motivation enough.

Good job with the racquetball! Maybe you and Nate can make this a regular thing. Playing sports is so much more fun and interesting than going to the gym, and you get a more well-rounded workout, too. I wish I could play a sport but I am really clumsy and uncoordinated and don't know anyone who could play with me at my level...

Playing racquetball sure will burn up a lot of calories, not to mention the good cardio workout it gives. It's so easy to talk yourself out of going to the gym. The secret of not doing that is to keep your mind a blank. Go on auto-pilot ad straight out the door. That's the only way.

UFC fight was pretty good last night and the salmon was even better. Gonna go for a walk today to turn in my rent check and as of now and waiting for the AJAX to to penetrate into the sink so i figured I would take a few to write.

Kind of moody right now.........dont know if it just my body changing and adapting or if my supplements are doin it to me. Anyway, gonna cook some more salmon today i think but i defintely want to hang out outside after I am doing cleaning the kitchen because is is like 70 degrees in early march! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

I found that when I was on a higher protein diet that I also had horrible mood swings...turns out that I needed more carbs than what I was getting..once I adjusted, life was better lol.

Howdy howdy everyone! Hope everyones weekend is off to a good start. Mine has been pretty good today so far! Waiting for the UFC fight on PPV and am having friends over. I have vowed to myself to only have 2 beers (Coors Light) tonight. I cant hang out with the fellas and not have anything to drink. :)

Went to the gym.....It was leg day........ouch! Only did like 15 min of cardio today cause i just wasnt feelin it. Woke up sleepy and have been kind of tired all day.

Sticking to the diet and the times pretty well.......I have to say though I sure am getting tired of the salad already so tonight I bought some extra veggies to throw in there. Also, the chicken is pretty good but felt like a treat! Fresh Salmon marinated in lemon, olive oil, garlic, pepper, and a dash of italian dressing. MMMMMMMMM, looking forward to 7:30 when its time to cook. Anyway, Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of their weekend.

Ill tell you this! Going from about a 2700-3000 calorie a day diet down to between 1000 and 1200 is sure a shock! The stomach is shrinking nicely and get full on little food. :)

Your doing awesome, keep it up!! The week-ends make it a little tougher when all your buddies are having drinks!! At least your drinking "light" beer! My husband and I also drink Coors Light now. Ofcourse for me its also a limited treat these days:)

you do NOT have to decrease your calories by that much...and you will end up slowing your metabolism...1200 is the absolute minimum,...and you weigh in the upper 200's...if i were you, i'd stick to a 2000 cal a day diet!!!!

LOL! also, i highly recommend trying and preparing as many different types of low cal vegetables as possible....i know what its like to only eat lettuce, that would bore me too!

So last night was brutal. Im hanging out at home when one of my roommates walks in with a pepperoni pizza from papa murphys! First off, let me tell you that my favorite food by far is pizza. Ok, so I get past the smell of him cooking his while i eat my steamed squash, carrots, and my baked chicken breast with nothign on it but boy was it hard. The kicker is, not ten minutes later, my other roommate comes in with his girlfriend carrying a round table chicken and garlic supreme! I about lost it!!!!!! That pizza is the ultimate favorite pizza and its right in front of me wit all its ooey gooey goodness. DAMNIT!

Also went to work out yesterday........30 min on the tredmill at 3.5 mph an hour and it was an upper body day because my lower body was hurting from the leg workout I endured the day before. After my whole pizza thing I couldnt take it anymore...........being antsy as all hell, I left the house, did 30 more minutes of tredmill and about 20 min on a stationary bike and a round of sit-ups. Im a little sleepy this morning but hey, apparently its working. :)

Progress as of today: 3 lbs lost so far, only 69 lbs to go!

Good for you for having the good sense to leave all of that temptation!! Even better, you used exercise to avoid the pizza! Excellent job on the exercise!!! My husband is a huge pizza fan and so are my kids. They order it and I usually have one small piece with a salade. Its hard to not go back for a 2nd slice because it really is so tasty, I love cheese but its sooooo packed with calories!!!

I don't know if any of the pizza places where you are do this, but we have a place called "Pizza, Pizza" that now makes a thin, whole wheat crusted pizza as a healthier option, its pretty good too!

Oh no, not another mention of pizza! My night is doomed!

This is what I always think to myself when I'm faced with the temptation of one of my favourite foods: it isn't going anywhere. Pizza will always be there, and once you've reached your goal weight you will be able to enjoy it again, in moderation. But if you give in now, and every other time you're tempted, you'll get to have a lot of pizza but you'll never reach your goal. With a little patience, you can do both. So keep up the good work - it will all be worth it in time!

just fill yourself with veggies...and flavor them with some low cal spray dressing in the supermarket. It's one calorie per spray. I reccommend 20 sprays, 20 calories. Tastes great!

Congrats on the weight loss thus far! The smell of greasy/cheesy pizza is very difficult for me to resist as well...I think they put an addictive substance in pizza as it seems to be all of our biggest downfalls LOL. Great job on sticking with your plan. It may sound weird, but one day you will actually prefer to eat better food and when you eat greasy or 'not very nutritious' food...you'll feel off. Keep up the great work! =)

Oh, you are a firefighter? That is so cool! My husband and I are obsessed with a show about firefighters - Rescue Me! Do you know it?

So the first couple of days have been tough. I think some people start out easier because they're so motivated, but for others it can be hard getting used to all the changes. I know that for me it's very hard to get back on track after even a couple of days of unrestrained eating!

I think the best time to weigh yourself is in the morning, before you've eaten anything. And don't drink anything beforehand either, because two cups of coffee weighs a whole pound!

As for when to update your diary (that's what you meant, isn't it?), I like to do it at a time when I would normally be thinking about food (like on my lunch break, or when I get home from work). Writing in my diary and responding to people's comments keeps me occupied and distracts me. Also, I like the motivation and inspiration I get from reading other people's entries. It is nice to know that other people struggle too, so if they can overcome, then so can I!

Hi! Just found you today. You have a very good variety of foods in your diet, I must say. Be caareful of those "handfuls" of almonds or other nuts. You can easily eat twice as much as you should if you don't measure them. I have a food scale I use for everything. I save those little plastic cups restaurants use for dressing, etc. It's easy to eat just one ounce after you've measured and know just how much to put it the cup.

I started out here because I was on the verge of developing Type 2 diabetes which I surely didn't want! Within a month on the Sugar Buster's Diet, my glucose levels were back to normal and have stayed that way. You can get the paperback version for around $7 vs. $25 for the hard cover edition.

As for when to weigh, each person's body functions differently. I've found that after I'm up for 4 or 5 hours I'm about a pound less than when I first get up.

I think you're off to a great start and will be very successful in losing the weight you want to, and your poor back will be SO grateful! With no processed foods listed and nutritious nuts for snacking plus those veggies, you will do well!

So, this is the first day........im willing to make the effort because I dont want to end up with diabetes like my best friend tony. I want to be able to do my job efficiently and gain trust from my supervisors because im in shape and can do my job.

A litte background........24 y/o career firefighter. Broke my back and need to lose weight for my mind and those who love me. Ive always been a big kid and it needs to end. My image of myself is shot and the time is now! I can do it........Help me when i stumble.

Here is the breakdown of my diet.

10:30am (Im a late riser) 1 Pack of Weight control oatmeal 1 Protein Shake 1 Venom Metabolism Supplement

1:30pm 4-5 oz chicken breast steamed veggies (squash, carrots, brocolli) Salad with vinegarette

4:30pm Granola bar OR Apple, Handfull of Almonds 1 protein shake

7:30pm 4-5 Oz chicken breast Veggies Salad

10:30pm Beef Jerky OR 1 Protein Shake, handfull of almonds

1:30am 1 Protein Shake 3-Nightime Metabolix OM
