Up early again and plenty to get done...so it will be a busy day....the weight watchers pkg arrived yesterday and it contained some surprises....cute bag with 2 books, nesting measuring cups...an interesting bowl that collapses with sections and a water bottle that has a section for fresh fuit...for fruit infused water...sounds interesting...and on another level a little bit gross............

Breakfast = 1 egg, bacon, toast w/butter and testing out a cup of coffee this morning..I have noticed that I am falling a sleep when I sit down for more than 10 minutes during the day.  Actually I wasn't missing the coffee as much as I thought I would...but today is a test and since I have calmed down since quitting it..I'm wanting to test it.

Snack = organic applesauce

Lunch = salad with lettuce, cucumbers and celery...no dressing, Italian pasta salad with bacon and pickles

Dinner= leftover Italian pasta salad and bacon, vegetable juice

evening= tea

Progress as of today: 15.4 lbs lost so far, only 110 lbs to go!

I think it's the idea of fruit just sitting there crammed into that little container which I will refill over and over all day...still haven't used it yet...need to get some healthy looking lemons for that...moldy fruit rules our area store..that also amps up the gross factor for me.

Up early...and getting busy around here...there is enough to keep me busy all day...Weight watchers stuff and a book titled HOW NOT TO DIE about a plant based diet should arrive today  No matter what I base my weight loss on..I will never totally give up any food I want....I will eat it less often...but I refuse to get fanatical about it...I choose a happy life...I've existed for almost 68 years eating anything I wanted..sometimes, quantities were bigger and sometimes quantities were smaller but I ate from all food groups including the outright ridiculous.......We own some exercise equipment ...not as much as we used to...but we have some.and we use it....Denny wore out his knees through osteoporosis and is now bone on bone from overuse...there are knee replacements in his future( he was a carpenter).  I have health issues from autoimmune diseases to a heart attack at age 29 that happened during surgery for a very simple non related to heart ,surgery.  I have spinal stenosis, bulging discs, crumbling disc and spinal bone spurs........asthma has been with me since birth along with a very abnormal heartbeat........( my Mothers life and mine hung in the balance for many days, we were both very lucky to survive back in 1949).......I grew up an only child because my brother did not survive his very difficult birth. 

I tell you these things because I have lived almost 68 years .....I'm a happy person by nature, not especially healthy because heart arrhythmias and asthma have always been with me...but because I find a lot of joy in life.  I lived most of my life at a healthy weight...........my weight became out of control when we had a former foster child  ( we adopted her at age 3) in our home that was so seriously out of control that we had to barricade ourselves in our bedroom to sleep...she committed a felony at age 11...and on and on..In those years that we had to deal with her...my weight soared...from stress eating.....by the time we turned her back into the court and relinquished our rights when she was 15...the courts returned her to her heroin addicted mother because they could not find any foster homes that would take her after hearing of her history.  I tell you these things so as to make a little clearer that I don't plan on adding anymore stress to my life than I have already lived with......I'm committed to the weight watchers diet and whatever my foods are every day they will be weight watchers friendly...which is basically everything...I'm a weight watcher for life now....I lost 55 pounds with them in the late 90's and put it back on when I quit because I lost it...that won't happen again...I will count points for life now to lose and keep it off and I am fine with that...I guess I need that accountability.  I'm losing at a good healthy rate for me and I feel good!!!  So I'm happy...If I seem to ignore suggestions it's not because I disagree with you...... I know I'm not always eating a balanced diet and I know there are some things I should be eating less of or more of...that's okay.....remind me....weight watchers gives me fruit and vegies for no points..so I do need to eat more veggies..along with downing my necessary points...yesterday I didn't even eat all of my points...I will work on the veggie part...and I started that this morning....keep reminding me...I will get there.

Breakfast  = omelet filled with peppers, cheese, ham and covered with salsa and acan of laccroix water

Snack = banana and cookie

Lunch= a schwans mini 1 serving pizza and a salad of lettuce, cucumber, radishes, croutons and Braggs ginger sesame dressing

evening = lacroix water....chocolate

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 111.8 lbs to go!

Wow, we're so much alike it's scary. Same age, same health issues, same life stress, except I had five siblings. I LOVE to be outside in the garden, and hate that summer is almost over. We escaped the MN winter last year, for the first vacation ever, and went to Port Aransas, Texas for January and February. I loved it so much that I booked this winter at Panama Beach, Florida. It was so nice to be outside and walking through the nature preserves instead of stuck in the house eating and gaining weight. Every winter I would gain 10 to 20 pounds then spend the rest of the summer taking it off. NOT the healthiest thing to do. So, I've dug my heels in and committed to being accountable for what I put into my mouth and now I eat mindfully, write down everything I eat, and count calories. I found out, after extensive trials, that it's different for each person. I have had to find out what works for me, and I have, and I'm losing weight, slowly but surely. Hang in there, BCGG, better days are ahead!

Hi Jabokov...It's nice to have another baby boomer here...I totally agree...things work differently for different people....the key is to find out what works or you...and it sounds like you found that...I know WW works for me, been there, done that. I guess the health issues have a lot to do with our age...and that is ok too...we are still here and we have lots of things to do yet...good luck to you...Better days are ahead, I agree

I understand you with the points and i do the SAME THING with counting calories.

I am also not perfect, AT ALL, in where / what forms i am eating my calories in - the same as you - i use the calories as a way to keep my weight generally in line.

So I understand you completely and i am with you!

I could use a mini pizza now but i doubt that'd satisfy me? Maybe if i ate the salad with it like you did...lol...i haven't had a pizza in a long time...

do you think that the girl was specifically that way bc she had a mother who was a heroine addict?

I am really sorry to hear of the health problems as i know from seeing and semi-experiencing the pain the cause on a person both mental and physical.

NO.....I am not mad at you at all...I DO NEED to add more veggies...you are absolutely RIGHT!! I thought of you this morning and planned breakfast accordingly LOL. The girl was born to homeless, drug and alcohol addicted parents. She has fetal alcohol effects which causes violent behavior which made living with her very dangerous...I can't even begin to tell you of the things she did and crimes she committed...it would literally fill a book. Aside from her parents drug use they both also had criminal and mental problems so she got a double whammy when it came to what she came to us with. She is 35 now...and is the mother of a 16 year old girl who was molested by her mothers fiancée and is now being raised by her paternal grandparents. Moms fiancée is now serving a 40 year sentence for that molestation...so since the boyfriend is in prison...she got engaged to another sex offender...and the crap goes on...generation after generation. The entire situation is so sad.

Good loss again this morning and looking forward to an interesting day.......I have never had to serve jury duty before because we were foster parents for the county and since it was county court they didn't want to lose an emergency foster home...so no excuses this time...I'm looking forward to an interesting day.  Feeling like fall here today...we even had to turn the furnace on and the air off.....spent a lot of time yesterday on the phone.....both sons called yesterday and we chatted for hours and before I knew it, it was evening.  Getting up and getting ready to go so early reminds me of those old working days.......Can't help it...I wake up happy everyday!!!!

Spent the day in the courthouse while they picked a jury........I was one of the last 6 that had to sit through it but hadn't been called yet...so in the end I was turned loose.   Day one of 5 down...4 more to go over Sept, Oct and Nov.

Just going to list what I ate today in no particular order.


almond milk

grapefruit juice


toasted English muffin with a dab of butter

1 egg



v8 juice = big can

lacroix water

Still have weight watcher points to use up...so will deal with that later.

spent some of todays points on trenary toast...still some to use....may just forget them

i went to jury duty once. I wasn't selected, so I got to go home. Well I wasn't selected because they had all they needed before it was my turn to be questioned. Not sure how I would handle that. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me....they went through 23 people to get a jury of 6....it was a DUI contesting the breathalyzer

Yeah, less meat is good. We don't need a LOT OF MEAT to live or even function right. This is why i do not eat tons of meat anymore either. It doesn't even feel right to me to eat a lot of it anymore. I prefer less. I like your way to keep adding less to recipes. More veg (LOL yes i am mentioning the veg!) and less meat is a good switcheroo!

How old are your sons? I am guessing they might be my age approximately? I'm 35. Just a guess....!

Nope...no twos today...LOL..I was happy to get out of there for sure. Sons Todd and Brett are 50 and 48....Grandsons Kyle and Cody are 26 and 25...and Great Grandsons Justin and Carson are 3 and 4...this family apparently produces boys in pairs....If we ever had a girl we wouldn't know what to do with her...LOL

Wt dropped today...super happy about that....Busy day...lots to get done...having a light liquid soft tood day......I always enjoy those....bp came down quite a bit yesterday...dropping the coffee and tea apparently has helped...and i'll continue for now  ( I have a ton of coffee and tea here,,,so I plan to work it back in eventually but in smaller amts)....not really missing it at this point now...and all the years I stayed between 104 and 130   pounds...I was not a coffee drinker...I'm thinking it may have some impact on my food consumption...something for me to think about.  Watched the program Big Fat Truth this morning that I had taped or my husband because it was about diabetes....he had been putting off watching it...but we sat down together and I watched it for the 3rd time...his first.  He grumbled a bit through it...he doesn't like the idea of a plant based diet but I kept my mouth shut for the most part and just let him grumble  and told him it was a free country...he could  keep taking his meds.....he quieted down.......We have a load of meat, dairy etc here.....but that can't stop me from making plenty of plant based meals..and I told him that...we have always had plenty of meat on the table.....we will see how this plays out in the future.  I do want to get some lentils the next time I shop and try out some recipes eventually.

Breakfast = yogurt and grapefruit juice

Made the call...and I have to show up for the first of 5 trial dates for jury duty tomorrow so it's a liquid evening for me...because I'm sure they will not let me out of there for too many bathroom breaks....I HATE IBS!

No lunch

Evening = 1 cup of hot apple drink and Snapple ( not sure if that has caffeine it's a K cup)

My DH grumbles about the plant based meals too, but now that his A1C and other numbers have gotten better, he doesn't grumble so loud anymore. Just taking meat out three times per week as helped.

I haven't ever drank coffee. I do drink tea and never thought that could be a factor in weight. I know my DH says its a diuretic and helps him go to the bathroom most days. I know TMI sorry.

Diabetes isn't something to play around with for sure...both of my husbands parents were diabetic...both of his sisters are and one has already had most of 1 foot amputated and she is 3 years younger than him and she is on 5 shots a day, going blind and among other things is in heart failure. So anything we can do to help them is really good. Coffee and tea do that to me too..and I do not need that kind of help!!! I have the opposite problem...I need to slow things down! LOL

Hiiiii BCGG! I recognized your photo right away on fb bc you posted a similar one here on DD. Easy to find you there! You came up as a suggested friend…

I was looking back at the last few of your entries and I think it was easy for me to see the “2’s” because you listed it that way in several entries! And when I looked back…I was like, wow, she really did write it a lot! I used to do the 2’s and 3’s but I don’t think for the same reason as you? I did it bc 1 was never enough and the taste of whatever I was eating was like an addiction and I’d always find myself going back for more. It was in my days of overeating. I still sometimes may do more than 1 serving of chips or carbs. And same with veggies – I always overeat. The only food groups that I never am interested in very big portions with anymore are meats and fruit. I don’t general have more than one serving at a time.

Just a suggestion, if you are able to break up your portions so that they contain more 1’s and less 2’s, you’ll lose weight a little faster as long as it’s a change that you don’t “make up” for later in the day or week with other increases in calories. I think working on your “habit” of taking the 3’s and making them 2’s and trying to make some of the 2’s into 1’s will help you…not sure you really are even interested in actually making my suggested change, but I figure to recommend it.!

Congrats on your weight drop!!! I think my weight might have gone up over the past month’s indulgences. So gonna work on that for the next week as well as the last week of September after my trip and first week of October before my Vegas trip! LOL. With all the trips & travels, it could be easy to gain…I will try not to make that happen!

I agree that dropping the COFFEE especially, with the caffeine, will help your BP dramatically. If the tea has caffeine, dropping that will also help. But herbal teas might be able to keep in your diet…they don’t have caffeine and are more for the taste than anything else.

Coffee also gives me an appetite, you aren’t the only one! I can’t even consume coffee if it’s with nothing else because of the spike in hunger I get from it.

It’s hard to change a diet from what someone is used to…but the thing about veggies and plant-based foods is that they can be cooked in a variety of ways: not just steamed! So you can make veggies even more flavorful than the biggest sirloin or spaghetti and meatball dishes! !!! Your husband can, if he wanted to, eventually walk over to the “dark side” into veggie-land!

He will be getting plenty of vegetarian meals from now on...he can add meat himself...if he feels it's necessary but I'm not into bugging him because the more I bug him the more he digs his heels in...he other thing I'm doing is to add a lot less meat to casseroles and other recipes. I will have to take it away slowly to succeed in this.

Feel better...i hope you feel 100% sooner rather than later.

Next, I see you like to eat "doubles"....like 2 apples instead of 1 or 2 english muffins instead of 1....and i see you have a couple snack packs up there...my challenge to you is to have ONE serving...and in order to feel full, drink a low calorie or NO calorie liquid. You can do this. It's not even a large volume of food that you ate for lunch, i have eaten far more, but the calories add up bc it's mostly carbs and almond butter...and not liquidy foods, so they take up little room in your stomach but are high calorie. you need to at least drink something with this...like LaCroix or something sparkling / similar to help fill you!...and eat half the food ....just advice you don't have to take it ! :-P

I'm surprised you noticed that about things in 2's....Actually..there was a method to my madness today....The apples and banana are free on Weight watchers..and the apples are green sour apples that I had bought because my husband wanted them..until he found out that they were sour...so I am eating them up because he won't..My first jury duty day is Wednesday...and I'm taking advantage of that to cut down on total mass of food starting now...because basically I will not eat until I get home most likely on any day that is jury day....I can easily go for 24 hours without eating...but the crackers took up my WW points without a lot of food in total...just keeping it light. Actually I have fasted off and on my whole life...I like my food rather simple so sometimes I do eat things in 1,2 or even 3's...especially on WW. I also keep a glass of water with me at all times...I drink about 8 cups a day usually.

Btw, you were asking about getting good peaches...some places yes and some no. Depends on the quality of the store...go to a real high quality place like "Whole Foods" or "Fairway" and everything you can imagine is there and fresh.

I've heard so many good things about lemon juice in hot water in the morning, but I gotta have my cup of coffee. I run into teeth sensitivity issues too... But if this works for you, way to go!

Looks like a good day so far. You've prompted me to get off my butt and start working on my house projects -- plus errands to run -- today.

Hi Donkey....Lemon juice in hot water the first thing in the morning is supposed to cleanse the liver of toxins...I figure it can't hurt. Today is my day 3 off of coffee...a little headachy but do able...I do have to say that I miss it...and the hot lemon water kind of takes it's place. I'm glad to have a house project buddy...it's funny...once I got started it was a lot of fun...sounds like you will have a good day too!

Hit the road early to pick up some perishables......and a couple of other things...and the bank.  Stopped at the amish grocery sore...I LOVE that place.....picked up some cereal called puffed amaranth...I think that may be one of the ancient grain that are coming back and some nice almond butter..i'll be making good use of those.  First of 5 jury duty dates are  starting next week...so I drove around he courthouse to see what parking looks like...our old original courthouse burned down last year and they are now using another old building ,.but it looks like there will be no parking problem.  Loaded up on fresh fruit and veggies....

Came home and had 2 toasted English muffins with butter and almond butter, a banana and some lemon juice in hot water....that should hold me for quite awhile.

Late lunch of celery and leftover pasta, beef and tomato sauce

Evening will be another banana, tuna and lacroix water

Puffed amaranth sounds healthy….anything puffed with all that air in it would be good! Yuppers…

Well..after a few days of dizziness and headaches...and taking my BP...I just plain scared myself...and it's back to weight watchers for me...and I think I sufficiently scared myself into doing I right this time....it's basically do or die this time...can't play around anymore...

Breakfast = lemon juice in hot water, rice and peas

Snack= hot apple drink  and cinnamon almonds

If you have trouble sticking with WW, I HIGHLY recommend of course sticking with it…AND also adding in as many veggies as you want to cooked / raw / sautéed / roasted just make them veggies of course….and as much seltzer / herbal teas as you want also! There are ways to make yourself full and on less! Weight watchers alone doesn’t satisfy me – I see all the low fiber cookies and stuff they offer…I’d have to bulk up on my veggies.

And sugar free seltzers to which I add my stevia. I do LOVE sugar free jello, but it makes me break out on my face and makes me too hungry so I stay away. OH…also…I love my lower sugar ice creams – Halo Top, Enlightened….and now there’s another one on the market – some protein one…but doesn’t have interesting flavors (just chocolate, vanilla & strawberry), so I haven’t been intrigued to try that one.

I also see one with tons of cool chocolate, coffee and even sweet potato flavors but those are double the calories of my favorites so I haven’t tried those natural ones either….because I’m PRIMARILY a CALORIE COUNTER so nothing else that is higher cals excites me and I try to stay away from even trying things that I’d eventually like and then have to watch the portions….yyou know….i don’t want to try something and know I like it and for it to just be a high calorie pit….! A waste of calories!

Ok….let me move on to some other topic….! Haha. This is a wonderful break I tell you…from my work here at work this FRIDAY! It’s the day before my 35th bday too! Wahoo. I’m happy. Glad 34 is done actually. I’m ready for new experiences, direction & a major positive change that 35 will bring (including getting a whole new job/career with nypd !)…ok seriously back to you!....

Breakfast is awesome! Lemon juice in hot water is natural and does what my kombucha does…get’s things moving along in the AM! :--) But, with the rice and peas, I highly recommend some protein. … Like get rid of the rice, keep the peas & make it 1 egg fried with tons of peas! That’s filling more! Try to include some protein in the morning to get your blood pressure / blood sugar under control……

When I eat MEAT / eggs in morning, I stay much more satisfied than the days I choose my favorite peanut butter on a wrap. The PB instead of meat doesn’t last near as long!

What’s the hot apple drink? Sounds good! And Cinnamon Almonds sounds good too! I used to eat them! Did you see the ones in the store that are coated in chocolate powder!? They are even sold in 100 calorie packs! !!!

Lately, I choose almonds that have even the salt & vinegar taste bc it’s so strong a flavor, I don’t need to eat as many! The strong flavors, like BBQ flavor also, act slightly as appetite suppressants. Even extra salt (I know, no good for you), works for me. The blander the food lately, the more I want…so I go for strong flavors lol….next time I buy Stacy’s Pita Chips, It’ll have to have some extra flavor so I don’t eat as many!!!

Lunch sounds great….if you want to try a smaller portion, have it over a salad! Yes, have the pasta (with the pasta yes) over a salad or over spinach …and yes, again, include the noodles but cut the portion….you can do it over squash…over anything you want. Over lettuce. Over cucumber! LOL. Anything you can do to cut calories. I’m getting a really nice relaxation writing this super-long entry to you!!!

Nice evening meal. I’d eat tuna over Stacy’s crackers / chips! And the Lacriox so that i stop and don’t keep eating the chips….i drink to just keep my mouth satisfied and stomach satisfied! Tricks of the trade!

The hot apple drink is a K cup for Keurig made by Grove Square...love those...and yesterday they took the place of my coffee and tea. I did get to the store and got a cart full of fruits and vegies...so that is all weight watcher friendly...most a zero points. I'm not a big meal person really...If I could put my finger on my habits, it would be to thing...I'm a junk food junky..and I have a tendency to eat hqat ever needs to be used up in the fridge...that's how the rice and peas breakfast came about. I LOVE those starkest light tuna pouches...only 70 calories and 17 grams of protein.

Progress as of today: 10.4 lbs lost so far, only 115 lbs to go!

Figured out why I'm dizzy...Blood pressure is high...so losing weight is even more important than ever...and managing it will be my main concern for awhile. Breakfast = coffee (need to cut back on that now I see)..grapefruit juice and mango.

Wow!!! That’s one hilly and snowy road! Yes, I now completely understand why you have food delivered so often…but one question…please do NOT tell me that is snow from now!? Cute Doggie…animals are just adorable. I feel they do not show as many emotions as we do and that naturally they are cute unlike humans / people who sometimes wear their “resting b#itch face” all day long…I have never seen a doggie or cat or hamster with a “resting b#itch face” as their faces are just adorable when they are up and resting! ! haha….

Wow what a gorgeous couple! I love your thick, straight hair! Lucky you to always have such beautiful, thick, shiny, gorgeous hair! As an adult, and even teen, my hair lost it’s sheen completely which is why I now have a pixie cut and not nice long locks like yours. My hair simply doesn’t do that. So I did what’s best – cut it off to show off my face! But you have beautiful hair, lady. Now and then!

I see you eating carbs and caffeine for breakfast – that is good but only if you are going to have another meal soon after (like 1-2 hours later at most). Carbs (the fruit) will not keep you full for more than 1-2 hours TOPS. I know you like a late breakfast ,so then you can have this…but follow up soon after with protein. Good protein would be a smaller wrap with salami even or lox (sorta expensive, little salty too…so maybe not the best tip I’m thinking now!). Or small wrap with mostly egg white and one egg. Or one egg and exactly one egg white and some kinda low calorie spread even mustard or to have some fun, ricotta or cream cheese or farmer’s cheese or cottage cheese without the wrap…or instead of food, couple hours after breakfast, have some(1/4 cup serving) almonds! Lightly salted is my fave. That’ll help you get thru 2 more hours !

In general to help yourself with hunger and blood pressure / sugar, what I do is eat frequently trying for every 3 hours. After that, I get over-hungry and binge….i know this is my way and may not be compatible for you but still giving tips.

LOL....first off...NOT a doggie...A BLACK BEAR!!!!!!! Okay time for you to get out of the city for awhile...And yes..the rolling road we live on covered with snow picture was taken last april...but it will return next month...we get snow here in October. Thank you for the hair comment...sometimes it feels like too much hair..and it grows super fast so I keep it long. I went back and looked at your pics and I LOVE your pixie cut, it suits you very well..and looks like an easy do to keep up. Todays breakfast was actually something that I looked up online as a way to lower blood pressure quickly...the coffee was enjoyed before I took my BP...so now I will stay away from caffeine until I get this under control..I know this is kinda weird...but I LIKE the feeling of hunger...but you did give me lots of really cool ideas to consider...actually I have to stay clear of salt for awhile...and in the last few minutes I have done a lot of self talk..I need to get ahold of this fast...it's VERY high BP.

oh....and i have a natural brown pixie now...no more blonde as that's not natural and therefore quite time-consuming upkeep....

if you feel the need to eat or have salt, have your seltzer....and keep up the great work....i love stevia. i add the drops to everything to sweeten things more...satisfies my sugar urges.

It is a 70's picture...I think it was my husbands sisters wedding. We were busy at that time raising kids, him working and going to school...I was so busy mopping up spilled milk and cutting kids food that they were half done before I started eating...actually...not all bad...need to get to that mind set again. It is a beautiful place..we were raised in the city/suburbs so this is a comlete chane...it's taking a little getting used to...but it is peaceful.
