(<1700 Cal/Day :: Ex Up To 20% Act :: 84 oz Water)
Weight: 156.0

Start: 189 (June 2001)
Low: 150 (Nov 2006)
Current BMI=26.8 My Realistic BMI Goal=22.8 (133)

For my activity:
Mon: NordicTrack 35 min/3.6 mi
Wed: Walk 15 min

Days 323, 324 & 325 were a mixed bag. I went to several bakeries on Tuesday to find chocolate croissants (or is it croissant, help me out here BornToCry). I got myself into lots of trouble, but never found them. I got at least one item at each bakery. Not to mention this really wonderful Mounds-ish macaroon with pecans on top of a piece of chocolate with squiggles of chocolate on top ($1.50). The baker called them "Haystacks." I stretched that one out for a couple of days, but only wanted more when it was gone.

Then yesterday I made a batch of rice pudding and then for frozen dinners, a very large brisket. In between I had chocolate and nuts and other stuff that I don't normally have and don't/won't count calories for. Let's just say it could have been worse. So my little challenge has been abandoned for the time being.

Today I'm on a chicken liver kick. Fried in a little butter with shallots. Not good cholesterol-wise, but very high in Vitamin A and no trans fat--woo-hoo! It happens:-)

On the other hand, I was up a pound on my weigh-in before the foodfest. On measurements I was down nearly 2 inches. I should really try to get back to counting and watching what I eat tomorrow.

We had about and inch of snow the other night and we're supposed to get more wintry weather in the coming week. It's hell on my appetite I guess, probably because it's usually fairly nice for the most part and it's been nothing but nasty weatherwise!

To Horn_of_Plenty: My "home gym" consists of my NordicTrack, an Airdyne Exercise Bicycle/Ergometer and a set of adjustable dumbbells. Not really a home gym at all, per se. But it works for me for the most part. It's just sometimes hard to motivate myself to "do it!" As for the jogging and walking, that's all done outside in the street.

Plan for today: Not a thing

Have a lovely day and take good care of yourselves!

It's croissants, but the kind with chocolate is usually called pains au chocolat over here!

Funny, I used to love chicken liver when I was a child. It was one of my favourite dishes. My mother still insists it's one of the healthiest foods ever. All that iron.

Thanks for your advice on the squats. I am going to work them into my routine. I've also started an Excel file to keep track of what I do. Hopefully that will help keep me motivated as I will be able to gauge my progress more easily!

WorkingIt2 on 01/18/2007:
Sounds like me with brownies LOL Enjoy your 'relaxed' day!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/18/2007:
I see the nordictrack advertised, looks ok. I figure i have enough right now. since its not my house, i'd never get anything else of that size! when i get my own place, i'd go all out on fitness equipment.

I have to admit, as a child i also loved chicken liver. my mom also has told me that it was a favorite food of mine. however, i still like the taste, but i just don't eat it. I stick to chicken. haha

i love jogging and walking outside. it's good to get some sunlight everyday! yeah, the clouds ruin it sometimes!

Nice Challenge!!! Think I need to think of one for myself to reach 150 goal...as I've been dilly-dallying long enough!!!

Have a good evening!!! Big Smile!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/15/2007:
You can definitely meet that challenge!!! Where did you get all of your exercise equipment? In a store, online, or infomercial?? you must have a really nice home gym!

Looking at yyour progress chart it looks so good! Its slow but steady :):) keep up the good work

Hey biscotti,

Thanks for your comment. I thought you'd like that last resolution of mine! Yes, I am back. I am planning to take your advice on weight-lifting, starting tonight. I'm going to do single sets instead of multiple, plus push-ups and stomach crunches, and throw in some time on my exercise bike. Then I can be just like you!

hey, that weight is melting off! Good job!

Day 320 was good. Didn't get in the jog or walk again.

The challenge served me well (and gave me something to work with) even though I never met the calorie goal. Will shoot for no more than 2500 calories today and then get back to another challenge starting tomorrow. Don't want to lose ALL the momentum:-)

3-Day Challenge goals for Fri: Water and exercise met, not calories.

actually, most musicians I know don't concern themselves with a lot of makeup or any nailpolish. I don't see fake nails these days...only nailpolish. most musicians I see, no nail polish. I was getting my nails done because I was a teacher, and many teachers seem to like to wear nailpolish.

Day 319 was good. Still no walk or jog.

3-Day Challenge goals for Thur: Water and exercise met, but not calories--thanks to six walnuts that I just had to have--hahaha! The challenge has served to get me going in the right direction, which is better done now than later!

Our weather's about to change from "mostly suitable for shorts" to "let's bundle up" for at least the next week. And possible sleet/freezing rain this weekend!

Bundle up good!!! We had a warm, sunny day here today and supposed to be nice through Monday, then much cooler here, but only the Lord knows for sure!!!

As for the six walnuts you had, I know what you mean...I LOVE them, too, but they are so HIGH in cals!!! But have lots of FIBER!!! So that's good! Big Smile!

sharklover on 01/11/2007:
Thank you very much for the nice comment. It looks like you can be somewhat of an inspiration to me because our goals are very similar. 189 is also my highest weight and I would like to get down into the thirties eventually (after some long, hard work of course).

That three day challenge thing sounds like a really good idea!

Good luck!

Day 317 wasn't good. Didn't get in my planned activity. Miserable food day. Afternoon munchfest. Not enough water by a mile. At least it didn't continue into the evening. It couldn't--I was just wiped out generally, resulting in a crappy, crappy day all in all!

I am not letting myself off the hook, but this just isn't going to cut it. I realize I'm kind of trying to go from 0-80 in a short while. I'm not sore, so it's time for a "Kyrin-inspired" 3-day challenge (Wed-Thur-Fri) consisting of my above goals with the exception of the calories--I'd like to keep those at 1600.

Kyrin used to do these all the time and finally I tried it for myself, and they worked for me. I guess they help put things in a different light when you're just not where you want to be.

Good Luck To Me!!!

Plan for today: Circuit workout, jog/walk

You're not the only one having trouble getting back! It doesn't take long at all to re-establish some bad, unwanted habits as I did in Nov. and Dec. I just hate to think of how long it's going to take me to recoup and get back to where I was. To think I had gotten down to 128 in August! Up to 137 at the end of December. Absolutely pathetic, so DON'T follow in my footsteps!

Day 316 was good. Didn't do the jog.

I'm up a half-pound on my weigh-in today, the only surprise is that I'm not up more than that. I think this will be it for the increases for me, barring a complete meltdown!

As for my measurements I'm up a little over 2.5 inches overall--and on those I'm up nearly uniformly--the worst was my leg at an increase of 5/8 inch. Oh, and I'm back in deficit mode as of yesterday--woo-hoo!

Day 315 was good. Didn't get in the walk, but had a good weight workout. I only ate a couple of cookies. It's really hard getting back into the swing of things foodwise.

All I can say is it wasn't worth missing all these days of weightlifting--the walking, jogging, NTrack and Airdyne/bike are pretty easy for me to get back to, but weightlifting is the only thing that will get/keep my muscles fitter after hitting age 35 or so. It sucks, but that's life!

Exercise for me? It's like an unknown foreign word! I think that if I were still swimming an hour a day plus 1.5 hrs of yoga, look at all the points I could be racking up in this challenge! It's pitiful how out of gear I am! I almost decided to take a walk but succeeded in talking myself out of it yesterday!

I suppose I should be satisfied with one baby step at a time. First, and mainly, get the calories under control and get all those rich, tempting foods out of the house. The second part of that I've done, so now it's just knocking off another 200 cal. a day. Easier said than done, right?

hollybelle on 01/08/2007:
Good efforts. I have had0 a hard time getting back in the swing on the food, too. But when I remember back to September when I began this it took a couple of weeks at least to get into it so I guess it might be like that after the holidays, too. Kind of a smaller new beginning???? Just a thought.

Moody on 01/08/2007:
