There's a great amount of strain about getting on the train every day and every night . . . Fantastic Daa-a-aaay! --Haircut 100

Well I got to change my weight. Today's my birthday (45th) and I'm gonna keep going with my challenge. This one will be Fri-Mon with the same goals.

I got in only 30 oz water (goal=90 oz), deficit was 845 (goal=1000), and the fat grams were 70 (goal=40). I got in a 20 min Jog/15 min Walk.

It was a little difficult estimating my food for yesterday. I actually had a chicken dip thing with tortilla chips, so I just counted it as "Chicken Enchiladas"--oh well, if you've ever used Fitday you know you can't be absolutely perfect. It's a guideline to go by--and for me works better than doing nothing.

Cheers Everyone!

Hello - just wanted to let you know that I am back here (at last). I loved seeing the Haircut 100 lyric - I was sooo in love with Nick Heywood (or whatever his name is) when I was 13 years old :-)

A better day than yesterday--I was a little more mindful. I got in a bit more exercise too!

I made the water goal (90 oz), deficit was 1009 (goal=1000), and the fat grams were 46 (goal=40). I did 63 min/7.4 mi on the NordicTrack and Jog 20 min/Walk 5 min.

Cheers to you all!

My challenge got off to a rough and rusty start. I didn't eat in any way close to how I had been for the last few weeks, still change is change! I made the water goal (90 oz), deficit was 454 (goal=1000), and the fat grams were 63 (goal=40).

I did a 21 min jog (3-3-10-5). I picked up the pace a little during the second 3 minutes. I also walked for 20 min.

Cheers to you all!

Good Morning, just wanted to check in and say keep doing the good work, some times change is important to keep our stamina up, I try something legal but new every week or two just to keep my food plan and exercise from getting dull. have a great day!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on that book. I am involved in OA and have lots of books and literature but that one does not ring a bell.

I was just reviewing your progress. You went from 185 to 156! You're doing awesome! Keep up the good work!

I'm up on my weigh-in. I'm not surprised. Still reading the book--don't have a conclusion just yet. Nevertheless, today starts a 3-Day Challenge for me. Goals are 90 oz water/day, 1000 cal deficit/day, <40g fat/day. Oh and I'm going to post whatever loss (or gain) I have on Friday--just to prop my ego and effort up a little (I hope!).

I have been jogging pretty steadily. Last week's effort:
Sun: J25 min/W10
Mon: J25 min/W15
Tues: J25 min/W10
Wed: J25 min/DogJ 5 min/W10
Thur: J30 min/W10 min
Fri: NordicTrack 61 min/7.0 mi

Yesterday I did a 12-min test for the first time in a long time--I will do another in 30 days. I jogged slowly for 3 min, then jogged as all-out as I could stand (knowing I had to go for the full 12 min). I ended up at just about 1.15 mi--this is not my best (1.3 mi) since starting to jog again about 2 years ago. I know I can improve in 30 days if even just to do
1.3 mi again. I just have to do a little speedwork--something I haven't done in more than a year.

I just wanted to chime in on the mention yoyo made about DrPhil the other day. I didn't see the ep she mentioned. I have completely stopped watching it. Other than the fact that I find him completely condescending toward women--where was his wife during the Women's Movement--she IS old enough. He, his son, and his wife continually call women girls, but not men boys. His wife seems to be increasing her fake-ass bust size by the month. Although since I haven't watched in about a month--the promo for Valentine ep with his wife calling the shots was about the last time I actually watched it.

Now I feel pretty stupid to have ever watched it at all. The one standout program--which I think was wonderful for the variety of opinions he included--was the one right before (or after) we invaded Iraq. I did enjoy him in small bursts when Oprah had him once a week. But now that his program has to repeat certain subjects with different people and has reached "formulaic" status and predictability--I no longer enjoy it.

Cheers everyone!

yoyo on 03/16/2004:
Hi Biscotti. I agree. I pretty much have stopped watching too, except for the weight loss challenge shows. But now that I found out that he is such an advocate of plastic surgery, I'm gonna stop watching that too. I don't agree with the message he is sending. Have a great day!

garlic on 03/16/2004:
Hey biscotti!!! I don't think I recommended that book to you. I never read it myself. Are you sure it was me?

kanga on 03/16/2004:
You are doing so well, so focused, I really appreciate reading your entries, they encourage me to work my program all the more.

geevee on 03/16/2004:
I keep track of the laps I swim and the strokes the way you do w/jogging and walking. I think doing this helps to keep me on my plan and it is satisfying to look at what you've accomplished right there on paper. I wish I could job but my bum right knee prevents me. I remember when I did run the wonderful feeling of exhiliration you get. Swimming doesn't do that for me at all but it's a non-stressful substitute that I can manage.

I just want to remind anyone who reads this what the DietDiaries is for--at least for me--it's for support! Not pontificating, although I have no problem with anyone doing that:-) When you signed on, this sentence preceded your clicking the "Submit" button: By hitting the Submit button above you hereby agree to the terms and policies of this web site.

From The Diet Diaries Terms of Service: Be nice to people. If you can't be supportive, go somewhere else.

I wish certain people were back on here, but what are you gonna do. The spirit of the site is made up of all of us, the ones here now and the ones who came before. If you're not really interested in improving yourself and expecting support, then maybe this is just not the place for you.

As for me, it is difficult to continue to make comments to people who don't comment to me, but I still try, I still read just about every diary.

I know I may be in a different place in my progress, so are others, it doesn't mean that a kind word or a little boost is not needed. Be kind and jump in with a pat on the back when you feel someone is doing
well--it won't kill you:-) Who knows, you may reap more comments yourself.

Cheers to you all!

As for me at the moment, I'm way out of the groove. My weight was up a half-pound this week. I am finally reading Overcoming Overeating by Jane Hirschmann and Carol Munter. It was recommended by Garlic to me so many moons ago--so far it really hits the nail on the head for me. Maybe you have to really get lost before you get found--hahaha!

Soon2BThin on 03/12/2004:
I agree with everything you said! And I know I need to comment more often. Sometimes I'm just darn lazy! Have a good weekend!

squiggly on 03/12/2004:
I didn't mean to make such a commotion. I hope you didn't perceive me as mean. I wasn't trying to be. Had I known that I would have caused all that has happened today, I wouldn't have said anything. You are doing well and I read your entry on a daily basis. Keep up the good work. I'm sorry if I came off being mean it was not my intention.

yoyo on 03/12/2004:
Hi Biscotti, I have been reading your entries for awhile now and I just wanted to say that your entries are always so well written, organized, neat, and consistent. I think it is great how even when you "fall off the wagon" ocassionally, you always get back up and start again and own up to your "mistakes" even after a few days off. Please keep up you encouraging attitude towards others here. You are a "pillar" of this site!

kanga on 03/13/2004:
You are so right and I am so wrong Ihave tried to keep read with others like myself who have so much weight to lose but younare right we all need support and I can only imagine that the almost there folks really do have a tough time. I will do better thank you for the courage to speak up and for your work among us all. By the way, you work a pretty mean program too!:) Have a great weekend.

lexxijazz on 03/13/2004:
Hi there! I am new here but wanted to say hey. I know what you mean by being out of the groove. I have been for so long but for the last 8 days I have been in the groove. I just pray every night to give me the strength I need to stay on track in the morning. You sound motivated, fun and friendly. I really look forward to getting to know you and many others in here! That book sounds great too. I just might have to check that one out! It sounds like it's getting u back in the groooooooove too! Hugs! Lexxijazz

I'll be doing a 3-Day Challenge. The above for the goals . . . I have been doing my jogging. Did only one Circuit Aerobic Workout. Only did the NordicTrack 1 or 2 days. I'll be posting my entry daily.

Hope you're all in the swing of things--I'll be trying to get back into some groove.

Cheers everyone!

Weight's up by a gob. I took a break from it all (except for jogging) for the last few days. My measurements are pretty much up--I quit after taking my waist. I'm going back to recording my food and using Fitday today.

I pretty much have eaten just about what I wanted these last few days--a good break for me. Maybe I've gotten it (eating with abandon) out of my system for awhile. Doing a "free day" once a week doesn't work for me. Making reasonable choices does; that's the plan. If at first you don't succeed, try try again!

Jogging is part of my routine lately, or I probably wouldn't have gotten any meaningful exercise. I did do some gutter cleaning and some other chores that were quite strenuous. So I haven't been a total slug!

Cheers everyone!

I know what you mean. I dropped out of DD's for a few weeks because I was so disgusted with my last plateau, but then I started thinking like I had before, that this was it. I really couldn't expect to lose any more weight, blah blah. I didn't really overdo it. That big, black cloud - OVERWEIGHT - WAS FIRMLY ENTRENCHED IN THE BACK OF MY MIND. It wouldn't leave me in peace. So then I lost two pounds and it was like a "new world". It's so hard to stay on the straight and narrow ALL the time. What a worthy goal.

Anyway, it's time to get back to business! Good for you.

breakaway on 02/24/2004:
YOur entry today made tons of sense. The "free" day's don't work for me either! ANd like you said if at first you don't succeed, try try again! That is so true becuase my day sucked today so I am going to try it again, and again and again until I do succeed! YOu keep up the good work and it's great that you found out that the free day is just not for you. At least you didn't waste months trying it out for size first. Hang in there, you will beat this!

Grayjay on 02/25/2004:
It's hard work counting and measuring and thinking about food all the time. Sometimes it's good to take a break. I think you're right. Making good choices most of the time works all the time. As long as you get back on track after the break... it's the way to go. Take care, Grayjay Deb

Soon2BThin on 02/25/2004:
I've found that I can't even take one "free day". If I could just lose the weight first and then have the free day sometimes, I think I could maintain. But I have to lose the weight first. Relaxing a bit for a day or two just doesn't work, I've finally discovered. (Took me long enough, didn't it?!) But sometimes you just have to get it out of your system. So free time is over. Let's get back to losing, okay? I'm with you!

Soon2BThin on 03/06/2004:
Hey, I hope you're doing okay. You are missed here. It's Saturday and haven't seen you here for awhile.
