It was 114*F yesterday--overnight that night it was 79*F (that's the lowest overnight temp for a few weeks--possibly month now). Isn't the weather lovely and talented? Yes, but let's not bring too much attention to it--it's so very sensitive and we wouldn't want to hurt its feelings. Aww screw it--the weather sucks.

I need a good grocery trip--if for nothing else but fruit. I have been without watermelon for about a week now.

Martha Stewart, who admitted to squirting liver sausage from the package (directly into her mouth) while standing in front of the refrigerator, turned 70 yesterday. Long live Martha:-)

Over six hours sleep, that's not too bad biscotti. I can't sleep because its warm here, but your night temperatures are as warm as our day temperatures. I don't know how you cope with it. It's very wet here which makes it pretty humid though! Keep up the good work :-)

Em17 on 08/04/2011:
Have a great day its almost the weekend =)

moogy on 08/04/2011:
Do you think she has had some work done? She doesn't look that old does she? It was nearly 80 here yesterday and Winter isn't even over yet, I am getting nervous already. Sorry about your sucky weather, I empathise with you - I say we start a petition to have summers cooler. What do you think?

V on 08/04/2011:
LOL!! That is too funny about M.S. :) haha I love how you come out of left field with these fun facts :) It is pretty sad that anything below 80 is considered a "cold snap" :( Stay cool ;)

Umpqua on 08/04/2011:
With those temps, I'd say you have a right to complain about the weather, wow! That Martha Stewart is a tough old bird :)

thinkpositive on 08/05/2011:
Hope your hot weather breaks sometime soon. Happy grocery shopping.

Weather here has me working out only indoors these days - although I did manage an 8:00 walk this morning with dogs - since it was totally overcast. Not too bad because I used a frozen bandana around my neck - LOL! Good work - walk/jog circuits sound effective.

wow, the table is so cool, very well elaborated plan! :) Have fun as always, teenager :)

hollybelle on 07/28/2011:
Read your comments. Good to have that info. I have figured out a few things.....like riding my current bike over a certain milage makes the muscles around the nerve that give me the problem (probably compressed as well, but I don't want to actually know) tighten up and cause the sciatica. It is better, mostly , but still twingy. it's good to exchange symptoms and things that helped with someone else, though I appreciate it. I'm doing better this week. It comes and goes and I haven't had any ibuprophen all day today!!! God work on your workouts! Wow, girl!

Umpqua on 07/28/2011:
Nice routine and you've got some serious weight lifting going on! I really wish I didn't have to count calories, but my weight tends to creep up when I don't. When combined with regular exercise, it's the only thing that has worked for me. I do hope some day it will be intuitive for me and I won't need to do it regularly.

moogy on 07/28/2011:
OK, now I am a little embarrassed at my meagre exercises, but I suppose we all have to start somewhere. Good for you biscotti, you are doing wonderfully. Have a great day:)

For my activity:
Mon: Walk 40 min
Tues: Walk 25 min;
Jog 1 min/Walk 3 min x 7 (both walk and jog/walk--the street as usual);
Walk 15 min (treadmill at crummy fitness ctr--good treadmills though:-);

Circ Aer Wkt using Airdyne (10 min)
Wed: Walk 15 min
Thur: Walk 15 min
Fri: Walk 25 min; Jog 1 min/Walk 3 min x 7

I started a very conservative jogging/running program. My Day 2 outing was yesterday. I wasn't as tentative as Day 1--life affirming after a couple of my outings (and a few other nightmares of life and health) from last year. This is definitely not the me (physical or mental) of last year--I'm as grateful as I can be for that! It's in my rearview mirror--still visible, but I get farther and farther away from it every day!

I hit 3500 hrs on my CPAP machine--it's essential to my good sleep habits along with this, that and the other--haha!

Alrighty!! I hope you had the chance to get to pump some iron!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

hollybelle on 07/24/2011:
Yay for things in the REARview! No circling back around and heading in their direction either, right? Good post - caused me to pause and reflect. That's a good sign. Happy that you have begun the jogging program. I have thought about it. I'd like to run 5K. My sciatica has begun to act up and I'm afraid of aggregavating it. I may give it a shot, though - why not. I think we are about the same weight right now. I'm guessing as I don't have scales in the house. Hang in there - I'll keep looking in to see how the running is going.

I have another wt trng session on tap for today. Was supposed to get it in yesterday, but taday will work just as well. As long as I don't miss more than a couple days over my scheduled day I'm doing okay. This adds just one--not a big deal.

Not insignificant: we're supposed to break below the 100s*F for highs--it's been at least 100*F here for about 6 weeks and we've had no rain during that time. So there's also a chance (10-15%) of rain for the next few days. Then it'll probably be back to the usual.

geevee on 07/18/2011:
The science based medicine link you gave me was most informative.Reading about the pain and suffering, esp. an aftermath attack was scarey! For the moment what eases my anxiety about shingles is thinking of the strong boost my system must have gotten about 20 yrs. after I had had the chicken pox when all my children were sick with it inaddition to my husband. His atack was so badhe looked like a monster and boy! did he suffer. I guess I had 4-6 weeks of exposure. And then there were so many years in thepublic schools when my body was under constant assault. Maybe so much exposure plus the vaccine will help me avoid getting shingles. What a nasty disease!

I appreciate all of your information.

So glad you're feeling better BB. Take it easy and good job on the exercise!

I can't even contemplate what it must be like living and exercising in those sorts of temperatures ! We think we are having a good summer if we string together a few days in the 70s !!

Hi there Biscotti! Oh how I hate the high temps.... I hope you get some cooler weather soon. And I hope the shingles are not bothering you any longer.... Stay well!

What remains in my mind from reading the science based medicine link is thedescription of the woman trying to describe the pain - "like being stabbed again and again with an ice pick."
