That some good can be derived from every event is a better proposition than that everything happens for the best, which it assuredly does not. --James Kern Feibleman

For my activity:
Sun: NordicTrack 61 min/6.7 mi; DogJog 12 min/Walk 10 min
Mon: Walk 55 min
Tues: NordicTrack 32 min/3.2 mi

Day 82: Calorie goal no--water goal yes!
Day 83: Calorie goal no--water goal no!
Day 84: Calorie goal no--water goal no!

To refresh, this ends an 84-Day Count with these goals: 1700 cals/day, possibly jog 3 days/week, circuit workout (full body wt trng) 2-3 days/week, drink 80-100 oz water/day.

No weekly report--it would only include a couple of days. I don't foresee counting days again--at least not 'til next year perhaps:-)

I'm down a pound on my weigh-in yesterday and down 5/8ths inch on my measurements.

I am starting something I'm calling "Run Up To The New Year--2008!" Goals will be at least two circuit workouts/week, 80 oz water/day and at least 1 hour of cardio-type exercise per day (walking, jogging, NTrack, bicycling, Airdyne).

I'd like to be down a good 10 pounds by the end of January. "Good" meaning--not having to revisit the 160s again during 2008. Really is that too much to ask?

I'll update calories, etc DAILY and the "Run Up . . ." results WEEKLY. Oh, and "shopping with a cart" and those "long phone calls" don't contribute to the cardio--haha!

You're welcome to choose your own goals and do your own "Run Up . . . 2008!" I'm just not going to keep up with it--you're on your own.

Plan for today: NTrack, Jog/Walk

Have a good food day!

That is a great idea! I am with you on not wanting to see the 160's EVER again...ugh! I will be cheering you on from the sidelines and then when I am all better, I'll join in!

borntocry on 11/29/2007:
Hi biscotti! I knew you would love the saga of me pandering to my husband's demands...

Perhaps if you pace the floor during the long 'phone calls you can count them as cardio?

greengirl on 11/29/2007:
Hey Biscotti you must have been doing good while I have been AWOL !!! Kudos to you :o)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/29/2007:
yay for day 82...when at least the water goal was an accomplishment! wow. i can't believe how fast 82 days comes and goes. my gosh.

fritters on 11/29/2007:
You may not have made your water and calorie goals on some days, but you are really good at getting in your exercise. That is so important and you are very good at it. So if shopping isn't cardio, what is??!! Just kidding!

borntocry on 11/30/2007:
Hi biscotti!

Thanks for your comment. I'm amazed you remembered that I like those cereal straw things. You must have a really incredible memory. (Or was I just THAT enamoured of those things?) We don't get the Froot Loop ones here - we don't even get Froot Loops cereal here, and it's one of my husband's favourites.

I can't agree with you enough about good things never being available for long. It seems my favourite products in every single country have been discontinued. Why does that happen??

Oh yeah, I am excited about that Cowboys/Packers game. I almost stayed up to watch it at 2:30 a.m. this morning. They're showing it again at 3:00 p.m. and my husband has taken the afternoon off to go home and see it! Unfortunately I couldn't do the same, but I might try to leave work early so I can catch the end. So don't tell me who won!

mylifechanges on 12/01/2007:
great job getting on top of the water goal for the day! the rest will surely follow. :) keep doing what you're doing!

thanks for the comment on my site. the hardest part about my living situation is that I have NO control over what comes in and out of the house. i live with my cousin's fam and they're all "natural" eaters so they have allll kinds of yummy food in the house! as we speak there is a HUGE pan of peanut butter brownies on the counter! grrr....so anyway, I'm definitely learning the virtue of self-control, and it's my hope that maybe this will pay off well in my future. Maybe when I reach my goal weight, i'll be so used to having sweets in the house that i won't have to worry over a few good treats!

anyway, you're great- keep up all of your good work! You're SO close to seeing the 150's!

~Michelle

Day 81: Calorie goal no--water goal no!

I turned over 200 miles on my cyclometer--woo-hoo! So I took advantage of those last days of warm weather. I don't mind jogging in the cold, but I don't have anything to wear under my bike helmet when it's even a little breezy/cold.

I thought of just wearing a thin pair of old long underwear haha!

Anyway we actually had some snow Thursday night, but it wasn't cold enough to really stay more than a short while. The air completely dried everything by morning. So, we've now had more than 3 days of raw, cold wet weather. We need the rain--that's about all I can say.

Now I'm looking forward to the drying out so that I can mow the leaves!

I've been haphazardly writing down my food in my notebook, but I'm not counting. Will start tomorrow or I'm going to be a goner and about 20 pounds heavier by the end of the year no doubt.

Plan for today: NTrack, Jog/Walk

Have a good food day!

Gotta work on that water goal, biscotti! Come on, friend, you can do it!! :-)

Donkey on 11/23/2007:
I didn't necessarily disagree with what you said in your comments to Bleste either. I mean, I understand where you are coming from but not everyone does/can. Maybe it's the way I read her response, but I thought she was way too angry for your comments. I'm sure I'm wrong; Donkey is often wrong about things. I offend a lot of people on DD. For example JShawstad hasn't posted in a while. She's still in the 220s but I've reached goal. So obviously I didn't know what I was talking about.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/23/2007:
I read donkey's comment to you and I agree with her. I don't think you should worry about any of the comments you leave people on her. Free speech. Do as you like!! :)

That said, I was doing well eating those concoctions of foods until I went to a gourmet foods store and bought a packet of protein powder. I had them make it into a smoothie right then and there. It was huge, like an extra large shake from mbdonalds. While I was shopping, i finished it. Then, bought another. After that, I went and bought some expensive poached salmon and seared tuna and it was all downhill after that! i think i forgot how expensive that was and how stupid it was to inhale good food. arg.

Day 72: Calorie goal yes--water goal no!

In retrospect those couple of days (a couple weeks ago) that I ate an estimated 4000 calories (on one of the days) seem to have been a good thing for my focus. And I donated the Suzy Qs to some cops! The cakes were still "fresh" according to the expiration date--haha!

Getting some decent exercise has been great for my outlook. It was hard to start from nothing for about a week--but I can say I'm that many days past it--doing nothing.

Oh yeah, a little PSA: I checked smoke detectors by using matches to see if they responded to the smoke. One of them is not working despite the little red light. I have to get some batteries anyway, but I suspect the thing may not be working. It didn't beep upon pushing the button either.

Check your smoke detectors if you don't remember the last time you did so!

A good rule of thumb for those that don't know (they push it around here) is to ALWAYS change your batteries in your smoke detector when you set the clocks back in the fall. [Trust me, it could save a life. when I was seven our house caught fire in the middle of the night. The batteries in the smoke detector had been dying - making the detector beep off and on - so someone took the batteries out and didn't replace them...had the dog barking not woke my mother up, I think the four of us wouldn't be here today...]

Hi, Biscotti! ...Nice job with your intake today. ...That darned water is hard to do sometimes--especially when the weather starts to turn colder. I know that hot tea and (sugarfree) Apple cider (mix) are not the same thing, but when I just can't face one more ounce of water...

A finished person is a boring person. --Anna Quindlen

For my activity:
Tues-Sun: Essentially Nothing

Days 63-68: Calorie goal no--water goal no!

Hmm, what was the point I was trying to make with all of this? Oh yeah--moderate weight loss through moderate calorie intake and as much activity as I can tolerate. Though it sometimes appears to be a desperate attempt--it really is worth it, including the struggle I seem to be having lately.

Actually I did have some quite active days, but they weren't mostly for me, much less anything I could count toward my weightloss endeavor. Actually I had a couple of hairy/sucky days there, didn't get enough sleep right away, but I'm ready to get back after it now.

Counting days didn't get me back to make an entry most of last week. Nor have I been counting calories or writing down my food in my little notebook. I haven't been overeating either. I've just been in the middle of a bit of slothfulness. It happens. Sometimes it seems to happen frequently. Usually it's short-lived. Time will tell--won't it!

I gotta get moving people!
