I'm doing quite well with my "Run Up To The New Year--2008!" I'm thinking that not having a calorie goal is pure genius at the moment--haha! I don't need the pressure now or really any time of the year.

BTW, I'm 15 pounds away from a healthy BMI weight--seems possible for the first time in awhile!

My "Run Up To The New Year--2008!" is still just okay. It is keeping me in the game. I didn't think it would be this difficult to consciously get 1 hour of cardio EVERY day once I actually set it as a goal. I think this is the first time I've actually set an amount of time per day for exercise. It's good to try to get on the ball--especially at this time of the year when it's easier just to drop it altogether!

Goals: at least two circuit workouts/week, 80 oz water/day and at least 1 hour of cardio-type exercise per day. Actual goals met/not met for the week: No circ wkts done, water intake a little better (64 oz/day average), and I got in only 2 days of at least 1 hr of cardio (<1hr on some of the other days). I jogged 2 days.

Plan for today: NTrack, Walk

Cheers to you all!

For some reason, I do pretty well during holiday season!! LOL, I think the fall is my worst time of year...maybe I get depressed! not sure!

I had to chuckle at your comment...I love the idea of cooking some smelly foods!!! Actually, I kinda already did without trying! All my packaged frozen veggies smell a bit when cooked...and I had them and microwaved eggs for dinner...and my sister came down and commented on the strong smell! LOL. she wasn't mean or anything, but it was funny to think that I already cooked something smelly! :) yay for nobody bothering me about it!

"Run Up To The New Year--2008!" I got in all my water and my cardio. I'm so looking forward to being 10# lighter while jogging. For that, 10 pounds at a time is adequate--I can't imagine how light and airy I'll feel in the 140s (if::when::ever).

I knew I wasn't going to get in the circuit yesterday--maybe tomorrow. It's supposed get up to only 43F on Monday, then a cold rain is on tap for a couple of days.

Thanks for your curiosity HoP--that plus keeping an eye out for calorie days above 2000 should keep me in some kind of groove--with the exercise too, of course!

:) What you said in my journal makes a lot of sense. But, for the time being, I want to at least pretend to believe that everything I make is enjoyable and nutritious, no matter how weird to everyone else. My current goal is basically still to loose until i reach back to 115. After that, I will continue with that goal, downwards. I know that I do have an "illness" and I do possibly need some greater help.

I actually didn't even get the same exact feelings on these past three days of binging than i have on previous binges. The after effect was actually more of boredom. It's proof that I don't need binging to take my mind off something. Interestingly, I think lack of sleep led to the binges being as bad as they were. Basically, I ate to sleep...I ate because after that i knew what would happen - I'd pass out, not be able to think about anything, and go to sleep. Of course, I'll mention this is no way to live! AND, I don't want this!

I feel like my body is giving me a thousand chances!!! So, I take them and succeed sometimes.

I appreciate your efforts to open up my eyes....they're opening....one day at a time...back to start...

Biscotti, today has been a great day for you! You will feel lighter and exercise will feel easier, that's a fact. I know from experience.

borntocry on 12/08/2007:
Oh, I know what you mean. I love the way running forces me to think about my weight and make sure I don't gain too much. I've had to run with a backpack lately and it's made me realise how every little pound does make a difference.

I've been thinking a lot about the Run Up to the New Year 2008. I figured you were probably counting walking but I haven't been doing a lot of that lately (to the metro station, grocery store, etc. but that's rarely more than 5 minutes at a stretch and I don't really think I can count it as cardio). But I think I am going to give it a try. I want to start running every day anyway, and even though I'm rarely going to be running a full hour, I can use my exercise bike to make up the rest. I wanted to start using that thing again - at the moment it's being used as a coat-rack.

I liked your comment to HoP. I used to fall into exactly the trap you described - eating to distract myself from my cravings and then giving into them anyway. (I suppose that could work for people with smaller appetites but I always have room for more.) And I've learned to stop doing that too. In fact, as I was reading your comment I was eating a flatbread from the Algerian bakery next door which I had promised myself as a treat for an otherwise good day. And I actually made myself go get it because I knew that if I didn't, I'd just sit around eating all kinds of other junk instead to "make up" for it.

But you know, it's possible that HoP really does enjoy some of the weird foods she eats. There's a theory that some of us are "supertasters" and others have a much duller sense of taste. It's possible that HoP falls into that latter category as she's previously mentioned that other people in her family object to the strong-smelling foods she cooks while she (presumably) doesn't notice the smell. And I've had similar experiences myself. I have to get my husband to taste dairy products for me because I can't tell if they've gone bad.

For my activity:
Tues & Wed: Nothing

"Run Up To The New Year--2008!" Do what? Oh yeah, I had some water and exercise goals to meet--didn't meet 'em for Tuesday and my time got away from me and then I lost any motivation. I crashed--apparently I needed the break. It just continued yesterday--though I did some housework--can't count it. I will count yardwork (if I get any done--ever).

Goals: at least two circuit workouts/week, 80 oz water/day and at least 1 hour of cardio-type exercise per day. Actual goals met/not met for the week: No circ wkts done, water intake sucked (nowhere near 80 oz/day), and I got in only 2 days of at least 1 hr of cardio (<1hr on some of the other days). I jogged 2 days.

The weather's good enough to do some yardwork, but I don't want to do it. Fortunately our weather is going to be in the 70F range for the next few days, although we got a freeze the other morning. Typical for this time of year.

kyrin on 12/05/2007:
had to read back for a few days... I agree about standing. It requires the body to use more muscles to maintain erect (and especially, correct) posture. I don't usually count all of the day's efforts in my cardio total. But, I know when I have pushed a little harder on some days than on others. I feel a little prouder of myself on those days. Good job with getting your fiber. That's still a tough one for me while I'm living with my parents. They seem to want to gravitate to canned fruits and veggies. I like mine fresh, which doesn't always seem to digest as well for them. ...But we're trying.

Nice week, Biscotti!

Started Wednesday with my "Run Up To The New Year--2008!" Goals: at least two circuit workouts/week, 80 oz water/day and at least 1 hour of cardio-type exercise per day (walking, jogging, NTrack, bicycling, Airdyne). Then I fizzled out the rest of the week. Wrote down my food, no Fitday.

Sun: NordicTrack 61 min/6.7 mi; DogJog 12 min/Walk 10 min
Mon: Walk 55 min
Tues: NordicTrack 32 min/3.2 mi

Day 82: Calorie goal no--water goal yes!
Day 83: Calorie goal no--water goal no!
Day 84: Calorie goal no--water goal no!

To refresh, this ends an 84-Day Count with these goals: 1700 cals/day, possibly jog 3 days/week, circuit workout (full body wt trng) 2-3 days/week, drink 80-100 oz water/day.

No weekly report--it would only include a couple of days. I don't foresee counting days again--at least not 'til next year perhaps:-)

I'm down a pound on my weigh-in yesterday and down 5/8ths inch on my measurements.

I am starting something I'm calling "Run Up To The New Year--2008!" Goals will be at least two circuit workouts/week, 80 oz water/day and at least 1 hour of cardio-type exercise per day (walking, jogging, NTrack, bicycling, Airdyne).

I'd like to be down a good 10 pounds by the end of January. "Good" meaning--not having to revisit the 160s again during 2008. Really is that too much to ask?

I'll update calories, etc DAILY and the "Run Up . . ." results WEEKLY. Oh, and "shopping with a cart" and those "long phone calls" don't contribute to the cardio--haha!

You're welcome to choose your own goals and do your own "Run Up . . . 2008!" I'm just not going to keep up with it--you're on your own.

borntocry on 11/30/2007:
Hi biscotti!

Thanks for your comment. I'm amazed you remembered that I like those cereal straw things. You must have a really incredible memory. (Or was I just THAT enamoured of those things?) We don't get the Froot Loop ones here - we don't even get Froot Loops cereal here, and it's one of my husband's favourites.

I can't agree with you enough about good things never being available for long. It seems my favourite products in every single country have been discontinued. Why does that happen??

Oh yeah, I am excited about that Cowboys/Packers game. I almost stayed up to watch it at 2:30 a.m. this morning. They're showing it again at 3:00 p.m. and my husband has taken the afternoon off to go home and see it! Unfortunately I couldn't do the same, but I might try to leave work early so I can catch the end. So don't tell me who won!

mylifechanges on 12/01/2007:
great job getting on top of the water goal for the day! the rest will surely follow. :) keep doing what you're doing!

thanks for the comment on my site. the hardest part about my living situation is that I have NO control over what comes in and out of the house. i live with my cousin's fam and they're all "natural" eaters so they have allll kinds of yummy food in the house! as we speak there is a HUGE pan of peanut butter brownies on the counter! grrr....so anyway, I'm definitely learning the virtue of self-control, and it's my hope that maybe this will pay off well in my future. Maybe when I reach my goal weight, i'll be so used to having sweets in the house that i won't have to worry over a few good treats!

anyway, you're great- keep up all of your good work! You're SO close to seeing the 150's!

I turned over 200 miles on my cyclometer--woo-hoo! So I took advantage of those last days of warm weather. I don't mind jogging in the cold, but I don't have anything to wear under my bike helmet when it's even a little breezy/cold.

I thought of just wearing a thin pair of old long underwear haha!

Anyway we actually had some snow Thursday night, but it wasn't cold enough to really stay more than a short while. The air completely dried everything by morning. So, we've now had more than 3 days of raw, cold wet weather. We need the rain--that's about all I can say.

Now I'm looking forward to the drying out so that I can mow the leaves!

I've been haphazardly writing down my food in my notebook, but I'm not counting. Will start tomorrow or I'm going to be a goner and about 20 pounds heavier by the end of the year no doubt.
