For my activity:
Mon: Walk 58 min
Tues: Circ Aer Wkt using Airdyne (18 min/3.5 mi)

Down a half-pound. Didn't do measurements.

It's good to get in some wt trng (Circ Wkt). Wt trng is very life affirming! And the fact of the matter is that not doing it is a bit of a deal breaker for me as regards weight loss. The older I get the harder it is to maintain muscle mass. It ain't gonna get any easier as the years pass.

Other things I'm doing: recording my blood pressure daily and drinking fat-free milk in my coffee yet again. I'm doing fairly well with my water intake.

Plan for today: Walk, NTrack

Glad to see you back! You've been doing tons of walking and that's good. And the scale rewarded you with a 1/2 pound. I used to get discouraged when I'd be down only a 1/2 pound, but soon realized that every little bit counts, and slow and steady is a good thing.

So, I'm 82 days older since my last entry. Weightwise I've been up, I've been down--like the ZZTop song--haha! I'm not the happiest clam, but I'm making good progress there. The bad days are fewer and farther between as time goes on. I know they're going to happen--just have to get through them.

I took my measurements twice in August and will do so again tomorrow. I'll weigh in too.

Hi All,

I've been on here for so long and I consider you all friends (as much as one can do that over the 'net anyway:-)

I lost my mom a couple days ago after a rather quick illness. It wasn't completely unexpected owing to her age. The end was probably painless for her, but you never know. She was in great health despite something that had happened to her many years ago, which robbed her of her fierce independence, but she was happy and stress-free and got out and about as much as possible over the years with alot of help.

I'm doing well for now as I've been very close to everything regarding her for sooo many years now, but I'm sure I'll have my moments.

I appreciate DDs and every one of you more than you know!

I hope to be back in the swing of it eventually, and I look forward to getting back and reading about everything that's happened while I've been gone.

biscotti~ Have been in a similar place of losing one suddenly...Yes, your moments will come and it is o.k. to just let go when that happens.....We all handle such loss in different ways. Nobody can tell you how to feel or when to feel it.... and don't let anybody try to... I'm sure you won't!

Glad to know that you felt that you could share this, even in your absence lately.... Look forward to your return...

Thank You so much for your concern..... Yes, I know that stuff is highly contagious and very dangerous..... I have thought this morning that I may just go ahead and put on the scrubs, mask, gloves and just stand at the door, not touching her or getting very close, but feel I MUST go see her, as her health is very frail at this time...She is only 45 years old and probably more scared now than every before in the last 16 years, cause she knows that the antibiotics aren't working.... I believe that her body has finally built up resistance to most antibiotics over these years and now options are minimal at best for treatment....... I sill be very careful and make sure to keep my distance, plus confer with the nurses station before going to her room...

I won't be updating publicly here after today--don't know if my break will be for a day, a week, a month, a year or forever. I will be updating my weight weekly, privately--don't know if I'll do more than that. I've never taken anything but unexpected breaks from DDs. (BTW, the "horse ticker" below will be updated, so that will change.)

It's a break, and I need it!

I got in 1 out of 4 of my activities Tuesday--better than nothing!

Then I walked on Wednesday--yeah that's 1hr::40min. Kind of a baseline test for a particular route--won't be walking that much every day--once a week--possibly. Did alot of housework yesterday.

For my activity:

I weighed in, but it wasn't my normal routine, so I figure I'm up 1 or 2 pounds. I'm holding off on the measurements 'til next week. (Assuming I get up off of my butt the rest of this week:-)

It's been a little harder getting back in the groove. I've got a couple of stumbling blocks I'm dealing with too, but I don't really have an excuse not to work out. (More like a stubbed toe as opposed to a severed limb!)

And I've got to manage my time a little better--haha! Actually that's pretty serious. I don't have any terribly stressful things going on right now--really no more than usual. So I've gotta step up for myself and get back in that elusive groove!

So I'm at one missed Circuit so far--yesterday was Day 8. I'm putting that behind me. I gotta go--I want to have a little something to show for my effort soon!

Here's what my 8-week break from wt trng cost me: I was up to 36 each military and sissy pushups. I can only do 20 sissy and 10 military right now! Oh well, I shall improve and perhaps surpass;-)

You will build back up....You know that.....But it is a good realistic look at what "rest" will do to a person' body...That is why I continue to walk.. I may cut back on mileage once I pick up some other form of exercise, but will ALWAYS walk...

I would of went back and read ALL of Horns diary, but my internet speed is only @ 31K and it would take me 2 days to even get back to the 2006 beginning....We live so far out in the toolies that we have to have an external modem to even get that...too much electric fence for livestock it interferes with our connection...

I want to let you know that more than once, the thought of you, monet, sweetpea, holly, horn, maria, geeve and BTC helped keep me from abandoning ship on myself all together. The fact that we have all been up and down and around the block and sometimes more than twice, helped me to keep little fragments of sanity. Have a great day!

Hey, I checked out the Overeating website and while I totally agree, I am just not ready yet. But I do keep food with me at all times (healthy foods!) and I do eat when I am hungry. But I am not ready to give up the scale or stop working out. While I know some day I will have the motivation to give up hating my body -- that day is not today. However, I appreciate the recommendation and it really gave me a lot to think about.

Sunday started a routine of getting in my planned activity--woo-hoo! It takes a bit of pushing, but feeling accomplished rather than defeated is worth it! The 12 min jog wasn't bad at all, though it's been awhile since I jogged. I jogged 9 times in Jan, only once in both February and March and now twice in April--I see a 12 min test in my future--haha!

YEA!..... I will jog someday.... I can remember winning a 100 meter dash when I was 13 years old and that was the best feeling...Not very far, but felt good to be able to beat about 30 other kids....

I have a list of "to start's/do's" and will be marking them off of my list over this next bit...Starting today with measuring again. Doing some weight stuff (have a bruised shoulder, so have to be "ginger" in what I do for another few days). Doing the caloric counting, by checking various websites and caloric needs, etc....

To give up would mean to give up on myself and I will NEVER do that again! I have some great examples of tenacity & drive here on DD.... you being one for sure and then a couple others... We shall keep EACH OTHER going...

I don't log my foods in here because I have to log in what I eat for my wholistic counseling class (my friend and I are doing it together with the yoga class). We have to manually write it out in a journal each day and I am too tired to do it twice. I will start logging in my food after the counseling is over.

Thanks for the encouragement though. I just need to patient. I will check out that book.

For my activity:
Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri-Sat: Nothing
Sun: NordicTrack 53 min/5.7 mi; Circ Aer Wkt using Airdyne (12 min/2.3 mi)

I had not done my wt trng for about 8 weeks 'til yesterday. Before that I had a string of 19 circuit workouts all on schedule. So my new goal is to surpass that by at least one.

So today begins a new count to end on 6.24.2008, which will be 58 days.

I pooped out on the challenge--I'm sure I'll pick one up again another day!

This article was interesting--especially if you need one more incentive to stop overeating: Metabolic Syndrome Triggered by Overeating, Not Obesity--Mouse study concludes weight gain is an early symptom, not a direct cause. Of course someone will have to duplicate the study in humans to be certain.

Plan for today: NTrack, Walk

Your holding your own!....Keep on keepin' on is about the best thing any of us can do...No matter how little or how much exercise...It does count for something....

As far as my walking despite the bumps~church~etc.... The walking is what gets me through the "toughness".....It is truly about 50/50 with the mental & physical benefits for myself...Others have their therapy of choice and couldn't stand to walk, but that is why we are called "individuals"...

I'm down a half-pound on my weigh-in today. On my measurements I'm down just 1/8th inch overall. Those don't mean all that much to me because I haven't done any wt trng for so long. (It's nice to say I'm down, but I know why--very little lean is happening here!)

I did a considerable amount of mowing, weedeating and cleanup on Thursday, but I'm not counting it toward my activity. I've tracked my food this past week, but this is not an update of that. Will have to do that later.

I was lazy and the week was crazy;-)

The challenge fell by the wayside, though I plan to pick it up starting tomorrow.

4-Day Challenge (W-Th-F-S) starts today with these daily goals:
1600 cal, 100 oz water, >25g fiber, at least 1 hr purposeful activity.

Plan for today: Airdyne, Circuit Workout, Jog/Walk

Don't give up!


2618 cal * 121g Fat * 17g Fiber * 28 oz Water
-222 cal Deficit * 5% Activities

Isn't the weight you are now, at or past the goal marke that you had when I first started DD....I know you were within just a couple/few pounds, then you changed it...

RE: Weight Training...I have a set of 2 lb. (or something like that) & 5lb. weights. I need to dig them out......I have also been doing some wall push-ups for my upper body...I learned a couple days ago when I put on one of my old bras in a hurry, that my "taloolas" are shrinking as well : ( I threw the bra away! As well as bagging up my clothes that now are too big...

I plan on measuring myself 2 weeks after initial measurement, cause I am back at the walking daily now....
