(counting calories and working out!)
Weight: 206.8

Weight budged a tiny bit this am... But on the weigh in scale at work, I'm down 3# from last week (I use my home scale to record my weight on here as at work I'm clothed etc).  I didn't stick EXACTLY to my plan last night but I did pretty well.  We ordered fried calamari as an app and I ate maybe 6 or 7 pieces.  I had 1/2 slice of bread then got a chinese salad w/ grilled shrimp.  I did have fried wontons on it, but it was an overall good choice.

I woke up HUNGRY today so hopefully I keep things relatively in check today... I'm going to the gym after work with a friend so I have a spotter and I plan to try to go HEAVY on chest!!!

B:  coffee w/ skim milk and splenda (30) veggie wake up wrap (150) 180
S:  triscuits 130
L:  Healthy choice meal (250) apple (50) 300
S:  falafel wrap 350
D:  pumpkin bisque (400) salad with:  Lettuce, tomato, carrots, chick peas (100) goat cheese (100) balsalmic vinegrette (100) dinner roll (300) 1000

total planned so far: 1960
Goal: 1800

I'm perfectly ok with the slighty high calories... I had a SUPER intense workout with my brother in law... He's a lifting junkie...so we did 2 hours of intense lifting... chest, back, and shoulders... Between the fact that my leg are still so sore I can barely walk, tomorrow should be interesting...  I'll be SUPER sore...

Progress as of today: 2.8 lbs lost so far, only 7.8 lbs to go!

skinnygrlwithin on 01/25/2013:
Yea... I was thinking that if I don't go to classes, and just hit up the gym I'll be able to work it in, even though I really like the classes because it is structured and motivating. We told people to come around 6, but I haven't heard when people will be showing up. So come whenever on or after 6 :)

legcramps on 01/25/2013:
Sounds like a yummy dinner you had last night :)

Just42day on 01/25/2013:
Enjoy your workout tonight! That's great that you have a gym buddy!

thenewMLE on 01/25/2013:
Have a fun workout and a great weekend! Keep those hungries down with protein snacks like apple and peanut butter or just a handful of almonds. Don't let the hunger build because that's where my out of control binge will happen!

Umpqua on 01/25/2013:
I think hungry is good, I bet you'll see even more of a loss soon. Have a great night at the gym!

V on 01/25/2013:
Beast up on your workout! Gettum girl! Have a wonderful weekend!

Weight: 207.4

Agghhh weight still not budging!  Tomorrow is my biggest loser weigh in at work, so I'm hoping it moves by then!  Yesterday was a good day... ended around 1700 or 1800 calories and got a great legs lifting session in at the gym.  Today I'm taking off from the gym and going out to dinner with friends.  No alcohol and I WILL make a healthy choice!!

D:  Plan is for a "crackling calamari salad" w/ 1/2 cup calimari, apples, different greens, and plum vinagrette... I've had this before and its very healthy... ~450... We may share an appetizer and it looks like there are a few healthy choices so I'm ok with that
S:  starbucks some sort of skinny latte or cappucino with skim milk.... ~100

Goal: under 1800

(counting calories and working out!)
Weight: 207.8

Weight is not budging, but I'm trying not to get frustrated... If I keep up the right behaviors, I WILL be rewarded on the scale!  FINALLY got a good workout in yesterday... I'm slowly feeling better AND I just got a smart phone so I actually had music for my workout which I always forget helps IMMEASURABLY!!  Did 21 minutes on eliptical, a MAJOR abs workout with lots of different exercises and then ended with 10 minutes uphill on the treadmill... Felt good!  Ended yesterday with an extra 2 slices toast, pb and banana on top of my planned calories, so I ended just about at 1800 calories, perfect...

I brought some extra food with me today to hopefully help me make good choices as I think I'll be stuck at work late, I'm planning an early dinnerish meal around 4:30 or 5 here, then stay till about 6 to work, then MUST go to the gym!!!!!  Then somthinng small when I get home.  Tomorrow will be no gym as I'm going out for dinner and coffee w/ my two girlfriends... I've scoped out the restaurant menu and have a healthy option planned.

B:  amy's tofu scramble pocket (180) coffee w/ almond milk and a splash flavored creamer (30) 210

Total Planned:  1520
Goal:  under 1800

workout:  10 minutes on treadmill and GREAT legs lifting workout...

Progress as of today: 1.8 lbs lost so far, only 8.8 lbs to go!

OhioRaven on 01/23/2013:
Have a good one.

legcramps on 01/23/2013:
Keep it up! Great job at the gym :)

skinnygrlwithin on 01/23/2013:
Don't get frustrated about your weight... remember all good things come with time. We both have the need for immediate gratification from the scale. Remember, it's not about the weight... it's about how you feel and what you want for yourself... it's about a lifestyle long term...not an immediate fix. (This is what I tell myself everyday hahaha)

(counting calories and working out!)
Weight: 207.4

Yesterday I had some serious carb cravings... Ended up veering off track a little bit last night... I wouldn't call it a binge, but I had homemade veggie curry over pasta for dinner, then some pretzels, then some triscuits w/ hummus... Probably ended the day around 2200 calories...   Not sure why I was craving the carbs so badly, but oh well, moving on and trying to make today a great day of eating!

I made it to the gym and got a great lifting workout in, but only did a 5 minute cardio warm up... I was SO mucousy at the gym, I kept almost throwing up... I know, gross....  I just cannot kick this cold completely... I feel ALMOST better, but I'm still rather sinusy and I keep waking up with a bit of a sore throat... Not sure how to avoid it as I'm already using the humidifier at night, and the sore throat does go away after I've been up for a bit... Unfortunately everyone I know that had this cold, it lingers for 3 weeks, so as long as I don't go backwards, I guess I just have to suck it up...  I'm frustrated though because I haven't had one of those AWESOME workouts in weeks... I keep trying to tell myself, Beth you are still going to the gym and that in and of itself is a victory....

My birthday is coming up NEXT Saturday-the 2nd and I'm trying desperately to think of somthing really fun to do...  I HATE having a winter birthday (I know, bring out the violin) but I just feel like there are so many more options of fun things to do with a spring or summer birthday...   I'm trying to avoid the typical dinner and then  meeting up with friends at a bar and having LOTS of drinks that I usually end up doing... Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I'm just in the mood for somthing different...   We looked into going to a casino overnight, but with it being superbowl weekend its PRICEY!!   I thought about a wine tasting overnight, but doing winery to winery in the bitter cold just doesn't sound appealing...   I thought about a spa overnight getaway with hubby but again  pricey....    Any fabulous, relatively cheap ideas???   I'm stumped!!

I'm trying to eat a few more calories/carbs earlier in the day today to see if that helps me avoid a major carb craving tonight, I'll see how that works...

B:  coffee 50
Mid morning:  amy's breakfast burrito 290
L:  Indian frozen meal (390) strawberries (40) cheese stick (60)  490
S:  greek yogurt (150) chili pepper triscuits (140) 290
D:  Trader Joe's Quinoa (300) veggie burger patty (120) cucumbers (10) 430
S:  TBD depends if I'm still hungry

Total Planned: 1550
Goal: under 1800

workout:  20 minutes cardio, abs, possible legs, depends on how I'm feeling

Progress as of today: 2.2 lbs lost so far, only 8.4 lbs to go!

Supercheese on 01/22/2013:
yay almost happy bday!! Bad thing about winter bdays (yep, mine was last week) is that its usually centered around food! Last year we did a healthy fondue party at home and invited friends over for cheese, chocolate and wine...but healthy wise, gotta be very careful cause melted cheese is delish ahaha. Ill let you know if i think of anything!

OhioRaven on 01/22/2013:
My b-day is the 6th. I hear ya. I hope you feel better and really get some excersise in. Have a good one.

legcramps on 01/22/2013:
My birthday is coming up in February as well. I booked an indoor golf simulator so i'll be golfing in the middle of winter :) AWESOME.

P.S. you're doing great with being sick and still making it to the gym. Kudos to you!

V on 01/22/2013:
Man i sure hope you feel better <3 As far as your birthday is there any bistro type places nearby that does wine flights? That would be cool..Not sure how you feel about getting together with your friends to bowl(I know I'm a dork) indoor volleyball? Dave and Buster's? Something fun where you can drink a few as well as get in a little workout..I am sure it will be a long weekend for ya with Superbowl being the next day..Your friends sound alot like mine, it seems every event no matter what is held in a bar(yep even baby showers, hahaha) Hope you have a good evening :)

Umpqua on 01/23/2013:
Oh my, Sara suggested cheese, chocolate and wine - such a great combo haha! I like V's idea of an indoor activity - we have a huge adult/rec sports center not too far from us. There are pool tables, climbing walls, darts, all sorts of stuff. And there's a pub bar as well. There's always bowling too . Great work being consistent with the exercise even though you're not feeling 100%!

Just42day on 01/23/2013:
I'm a carb lover, too. Let me know if your "carbs earlier in the day" works for you. Sorry, I don't have any brilliant idea for b'day celebrations. I love spa days but agree they can be pricey. Wonder if a spa would give any b-day or some kind of group discount?

(counting calories and working out!)
Weight: 207.4

I had an overall fair to good weekend diet and exercise wise.  I had a couple indulgences Saturday-drinks and a veggie burger and fries.  Yesterday I was feeling TIRED!!  Can't hang like I used to I guess.   Yesterdays eats included 1/2 a veggie patty sub from subway, a few baked chips, a few pretzel bites, and 2 small pieces of homemade pizza.  I planned the day off from calorie counting and think I did pretty well for an "off" day...  I didn't get to check my weight this AM as hubby took our scale to work for his biggest loser weigh in, so I will check where I'm at tomorrow after a day of good eating today....

Yesterday was a bit heart breaking as hubby is a die hard falcons fan and I'm a patriots fan... ouch... Both of those seasons definitively over now!!!  I'm feeling a bit groggy today but hoping to perk up as the day goes on for a great workout after work today...

B:  huge coffee w/ skim milk and splenda 50
S:  greek yogurt 140
L:  1/2 subway veggie patty sub 500
S:  cucumber sticks 25
D:  TBD

total planned: 715
goal: under 1800

Progress as of today: 2.2 lbs lost so far, only 8.4 lbs to go!

OhioRaven on 01/21/2013:
Tell Hubby I really thought the Ravens would be playing the falcons. As for the Pats, They win ALL THE TIME. Except for those 2 fluke games for the Ravens. They had a GREAT season. I'm gonna have to choose wisely on Saturday. Wifey's birthday. I might not count anything and go with my Gut feeling. Hope you are good. See ya.

I feel you on the whole aging process. Then again, maybe when we are in better health, we will have the energy we desire again. Have a great day.

Yeah I am such a lightweight too, can't hang like I used to wich is probably a good thing..hahaha Sorry about your Pats :( Yeah it so sucks about the Falcons, I so thought they had it.. Hope that you had a fantastic day :)

(counting calories and working out!)
Weight: 207.4

Weight was slightly up this morning, but I know its just a fluctuation... I stayed perfectly within my calories yesterday-ended around 1500-1600 calories.  I had to estimate my burrito bowl from Moe's, but I did light rice, extra beans, lots of veggies, tofu, salsa, a TINY bit of sour cream/cheese, guacamole and then crushed up 7 tortilla chips on top... It was satisfying and healthyish...  I ate it late and it was salty so I'm thinking that is a bit of the explanation for the calories increase...

Yesterday's workout was a bit lame... I'm still a bit under the weather and just didn't have weights in me... I did 21 minutes of interval hills on the treadmill, which went great, but then I just crashed and burned on the lifting... I did one set of walking lunges and 2 sets of leg press and called it a day... A little disappointing, but I will try super hard to make today an amazing workout...

I'm really trying to take a look at my lifestyle right now for several reasons, not the least of which is is NEED to lose weight...   So this weekend, a friend of ours is having an "after holidays, holiday party" and then tomorrow is my sister in law's surprise 30th b-day party at a bar...   Normal Beth, would say super, fun weekend, must go to both parties...   Hubby is going to both parties...  But... I'm taking a deep breathe and trying not to just do things for the fear of possibly missing out ( a lifelong neurosis that I seem to have) and also trying to remember that fun and drinking are fine, good, an integral part of having a full life (for me at least) but... when you are trying to live a healthy lifestyle, sometimes you have to put your self, your health, your budget, and your need for rest first... I don't do this, sometimes I think I do this, but as soon as somthing fun comes up, I always go....

So... that said... I'm making the conscious decision to skip tonight...   Hubby will get to go out w/ friends and have a great time, and spend the evening with his brother and some of our old friends...  I will get to go to the gym and have a healthy dinner, possibly even do some cleaning or organizing....   Tomorrow we will both be excited to spend the day together, and I will be looking forward to the party tomorrow night and really enjoy myself, not be thinking boy I'm a bit hungover or tired, or feeling guilty for drinking two nights in a row....

ok that was a bit of word vomit, but I'm just trying to get my exact thoughts written out as minor as this seems, its kind of a big thing for me that I'm trying to work on...   I don't need to ALWAYS do everything I'm invited to just because...   I can pick and choose, and make healthy decisions and the sky won't fall:)

Onto today....

B:  coffee w/ milk and splenda 60
S:  special k egg white flatbread 180
L:  Annie Chuns kim chi soup (250) w/ extra fresh mushrooms (20) 270
S:  frozen fruit 60
S:  2 slices whole wheat toast (180) 1.5T peanut butter (150) banana (60) 390
D:  take out sushi!!!   1 cup kani(spicy crab and cucumber) salad (150) 1 nanuto roll (california roll wrapped in cucmber instead of rice) (75) shrimp tempura roll (300) spicy crab roll (200) 725

Total planned so far: 1625
Goal: under 1800

Exercise:  21 minutes on eliptical and 15 minutes lifting chest

Progress as of today: 2.2 lbs lost so far, only 8.4 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 01/18/2013:
Excellent post, and I absolutely agree that sometimes we have to just say no to social events or outings and work on taking care of ourselves. I know I start to feel overwhelmed and stressed if I have too much going on and not enough me time. I hope you have a great weekend!

legcramps on 01/18/2013:
I hope you get back to normal soon!!! Have a great weekend, whatever you do!

skinnygrlwithin on 01/18/2013:
I think this is a really great idea. I thin kin addition to helping with calorie counting, budget management, overall more accomplishments and guilt... you'll start to feel less stressed, make time for things that YOU want to do and that in turn will help with the weight loss. I however hope that you'll be able to make it to our party next weekend haha. :/

V on 01/18/2013:
Totally understand what you are saying..It is really tough when all your friends as well as yourself like to get together and have a good time..It was really tough for me to be around it and not partake which is why I steered clear of all functions until I was comfortable with being able to not go overboard with food and drinks(especially the drinks) Not to say it is the way to go but it worked for me..Pick and choose your battles wisely and you seem like you are doing just that :) With that being said, have a wonderful evening and BTW, the interview is airing a few times this evening so if you are looking for something to watch tonight, it looks like a marathon..LOL

(counting calories and working out!)
Weight: 206.8

Woo Hoo!!!  Nothing is better than stepping on the scale and having lost a few pounds over vacation!!!!   I'm super happy about this!  I didn't stress or "count calories" on vacation.  We had a great time going to an appetizers and drinks game night on Friday night, so we didn't get a chance to eat dinner.  I lightly indulged in some delicoius appetizers and had a couple glasses of almond champagne and two delicoius texas microbrewery beers.  It was great.

Saturday morning we got up early, had some toast and peanut butter and coffee.  Then walked to a playground 1.5 miles away and did intervals switching on and off with intervals and pushing the baby on the swings.  We then went to out night out at the hotel.  We spent about an hour swimming and playing in the baby pool.  We then had a bottle of champagne and cheese, crackers, veggies, and hummus in the room.   Then we went to the lobby bar for our "free" welcome drink.  Then we went and made smores-I only had one:)   After that it was off to dinner.  I made a sensible choice of mahi-mahi, brown rice and steamed broccoli, and of course a little more wine... Then we had a bit more wine after we put the baby to bed... This was definitley a wine intensive day!!!!!

Sunday we got stirfry and watched football, also did a short hike.

Monday we lifted weights, got an amazing breakfast taco, did zumba, went out for sushi, and had homemade pizza for dinner.

Tuesday was an amazing facial, a vegan lunch, and frozen yogurt.....

Then yesterday was traveling ALL day... I had coffee and an egg white flatbread for breakfast, a bloody mary to calm my turbulence anxiety on the plane, then had a 4 hour layover so I went to a wine bar and had a couple wine flights and 2 tapas-smoked salmon crostini, and a TINY portion of penne with gouda and truffles...

I was so exhausted when I got home, I just went to bed... I figured I didn't need dinner as I had plenty of wine calories...   It was a nice, relaxing, FAIRLY healthy vacation.  It was so nice...   I just didn't focus on food for once, went very light on indulgences, and stayed active, and look at that I LOST WEIGHT!!!!!   Perhaps, getting away from the stress of everyday is very good for me....

I have my biggest loser weigh in tomorrow and I was VERY anxious about doing it right after vacation, but it seems like I'm on track!!!   Today is all about getting caught up at work, getting in a workout, and getting organized at home!

B:  Large coffee w/ milk and splenda 50
L:  big salad with random veggies I had at home:  Lettuce, radishes, mushrooms (30) chick peas (100) light buffalo ranch (140) 270
S:  special k egg white flatbread (180) frozen fruit (80) 260
S:  south beach protein bar 140
D:  Moe's burrito bowl with:  1/2 rice, black and pinto beans, peppers, onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatos, cucumbers, olives, 1/2 cheese, 1/2 sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and 7 chips... 800 calories

Total planned: 1520
Goal: 1800

Workout:  TBD but definitley going to the gym!

Progress as of today: 2.8 lbs lost so far, only 7.8 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 01/17/2013:
Look at you losing weight on vacation! Awesome job and I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, sounds fabulous!!

OhioRaven on 01/17/2013:
Great post ! Losing nothing is a whole lot better than gaining someting. I hear you loud and clear on that air turbulent thing. DON'T LIKE IT !

Just42day on 01/17/2013:
Fabulous job with your food and exercise while on vacation. What an inspiration! Congrats!

skinnygrlwithin on 01/17/2013:
That's really awesome that you lost weight over vacation! I'm so very excited and proud of you... that is really hard to do.

I'm going to Merry Monks... I went through their menu and I feel that the healthiest option is going to be the grilled chicken sandwich (let, tom, onion) without the bun add cheese or a dipping sauce. I'm saving 700 calories for dinner, so I have to assume a plain grilled piece of chicken, probably 7oz will be about 200 calories? Than the cheese, depending on the amount 100-200 calories? And that leaves me 300ish calories, enough for 1-2 beers. :) Perfect! Thoughts??

legcramps on 01/17/2013:
That is so awesome! Aside from the healthy eating and great exercise, sounds like this vacation was just what the doctor ordered!

Weight: 210.0

Ended yesterday with a game night!  I had 2 glasses of champagne and 1.5 beers.  I also never ate dinner, so we had some appetizers at  the game night.  I didn't go overboard so all in all I'm happy with myself.

This morning I started out with a 1.5 mile walk to the park where Kate and I took turns pushing Bethany (her daughter) and doing intervals.  We did the following:

5-200 meter sprints
5 sets of 10 dips
3 sets of 20 second planks
and ended with ski jumps in place.

Then we did the 1.5 mile walk home.  I feel like I got in a decent workout!toast

We are going to hang out at the house for a couple hours and then head to the resort for the night.  It should be fun!

Weight: 210.0

Greetings from sunny orlando!  It looks BEAUTIFUL out, too bad I'm stuck inside the airport.  I was supposed to have a 2 hour layover, but we got in 55 minutes early, so it changed into a  3 hour delay...  I decided to have lunch, more out of boredom than hunger, but... I talked myself out of a beer, and I tried to make a healthy choice!  Luckily I'm feeling LOTS better today, I guess taking it super easy, and skipping the gym (as much as it made me sad) was the right thing to do...

B:  starbucks fat free cappucino w/ sugar free hazelnut syrup (60) Eggwhite/spinach, feta wrap (280) 340
L:  Salad with:  lettuce, tomato, cucumber (25) small amount of calypso dressing (100) 3 small pieces fried grouper... maybe (300?) 425

total: 765
Goal: 1800

I'm not watching my calories TOO strictly on vacation, just trying to make healthy choices!!  have a great day everyone:)

Progress as of today: -0.4 lbs lost so far, only 11 lbs to go!
