(Mostly Vegan, as unprocessed as possible!!)
Weight: 201.8

yesterday I succumbed to peer pressure and ended up going out to happy hour and having 2 frozen marguaritas (to die for!) and some "rasta fries" (french fries with spicy jamaican seasoning)...   Bad news... those were definitely not cleanse friendly things.... Good news, that is all I had to eat last night, so I didn't actually go high in calories at all...   I'm ok with it as long as I'm completely back on track today... My weight is still down a tiny bit too...

B:  sparkling water and nectarine

S:  banana

L:  veggie chili over quinoa

S:  cashews and cherries

D:  TBD

Progress as of today: 3.8 lbs lost so far, only 9.8 lbs to go!

legcramps on 07/12/2012:
Have an awesome day today!

This cleanse is definitely working... I'm losing so far 2 pounds per day and eating about 1400 calories or so (I think) but I'm getting totally MISERABLE... ugghhh I just want a few crackers, or a piece of bread, or a veggie burger, or even a tofu stirfry.... or DIET PEPSI!!!!!  Not sure if I'm going to make it the whole 12 days on this specific diet, but if I modify at all I will keep it healthy.....

B:  water and banana

L:  Salad from chipotle... realized I could eat this and still be within the guidelines of my "cleanse" this made me very happy... I may be able to do this afterall!
Lettuce, salsa, guacamole, brown rice, peppers and onions, black beans... YUM!

S:  pear and cashews

Progress as of today: 3.6 lbs lost so far, only 10 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 07/11/2012:
Just noticed you were back. Welcome!

Congrats on your loss my friend! Keep up the stellar job <3

Yesterday was a very successful day!  I stuck with my cleanse guidelines and got to bed early.  I even got 2 chapters of studying in...  Now I just have to stay on track today... I'm taking this one day at a time...  Today hubby wants to do a "baseline" 5k run just to see how long it takes us pre training... I'm anticipating that I will have to do a bit of walking and I'm ok with that... Just want to see where I stand so I can see my progress with training!

B:  Cayenne and lemon water and banana

S:  1/2 pint raspberries

L:  Random Quinoa salad I made last night for dinner: homemade lime vinagrette, chick peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, orange pepper, roasted cauliflower and a bit of quinoa... Strange but tasty:)

S:  cherries, raw veggies w/ fiery cashew dip

S:  lightly salted cashews

D:  vegetarian chili w/ quinoa couldn't stand the thought of more chili/quinoa so I made Vegan veggie pupusas.  Each was 170 calories and I had 3

All through the day... TONS of water!

Progress as of today: 1.6 lbs lost so far, only 12 lbs to go!

Hello Everyone!   I'm definitely overdue to be back and I'm back and motivated!  Yesterday was devoted to healthy shopping AND lots of food prep to set  me up for success this week.  Also, I signed up for a 5k race in 2 months to motivate me to start training!

I've spent the last month and a half in a state of vacation (with a little bit of going to work thrown in between)... My husband and I took most of our vacation time for the year all over the course of 1.5 months.  We had a "staycation" the week after Memorial Day.  We then went from June15th-22nd visiting friends and family.  We spend 6 days in San Antonio Texas visiting my best friend and god daughter, and then traveled to Lake Tahoe and spent 5 days with my brother and sister in law.  We did LOTS of golfing, went to Lodi california for some of the BEST wine tasting I've ever experienced (even better than napa in my opinion!!), went to a casino in Reno, and did lots of visiting.

Finally, I had July 4th-8th off for our last bit of vacation.  We stayed home and caught up with friends and family, enjoyed great food at a wedding, and just enjoyed summer!!!

After all that, I only gained 1.6#-not too bad, however I was MUCH heavier than I should be at the start of that time to begin with, so I have my work cut out for me!!!

Hubby and I are challenging ourselves to a 12 day cleanse.... (he's doing all raw and vegan).  I'm doing a mild cleanse 75% raw, 25% cooked, all vegan, gluten free, caffeine free, and unprocessed.   Today is day 1.

I'm hoping I do well as I'm a little stressed as I have to take a major test in my field on July 26th that if I pass I get a substantial raise.  Well with all my vacation I have put off studying and it will be Full on studying from here on out as well as digging out from PILES of built up work at my job...

I missed you all!!!!!

B:  20 oz filtered water with lemon and dash cayenne

S:  1/2 pint raspberries

L:  Homemade vegetarian chili w/ 1 cup quinoa.   Raw veggies with fire roasted cashew dip

S:  lightly salted cashews and fresh cherries

D:  random quinoa salad w/ lime viniagrette, chick peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, red peppers, and quinoa

S:  more raw veggies with firey cashew dip

Progress as of today: 1.6 lbs lost so far, only 12 lbs to go!

sweetpea1977 on 07/09/2012:
Good to hear from you!

Thats some nice vacationing you've been doing. Im so jealous! :)

Good luck on your test and the cleanse!!

thenewMLE on 07/09/2012:
Good Luck and welcome back to the real world!! I hope your cleanse and your test both go well!

V on 07/09/2012:

nunnermack on 07/09/2012:
Welcome back and sounds like you had a lovely vacation. I must try visiting Lodi sometime since I'm already here in CA. Have a great evening!!!

hollybelle on 07/09/2012:
Welcome back! Wondering about you. Study for that test and get that behind you and get your raise! I'm still hanging around, riding bike and doing the best I can - which is pretty good lately!

hollybelle on 07/09/2012:
P.S. What a great time you have had this summer. Good for you!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/09/2012:
enjoy your preparations for the 5K! that's awesome! I'm almost ready to run one too....just a little more training time required! You will feel great when you acheive your first! Maybe it'll motivate you to train for a 10K!

*update* hubby just called, my kitty is home safe and sound:)

Hey everyone... Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was quite down in the dumps...  Some crazy stuff w/ my step-daughter happened over the weekend... Basically she decided that my husband doesn't care about her because we picked her up 1 hour later than normal on Friday...  He had even told her earlier in the day we would be 1 hour late...  No idea what brought this on, but basically she left and went to her mother's for the weekend when she was suppose to be with us...  She is 14 and will be 15 this week, and I literally remember doing things like this to my parents at her age, but she is normally so calm and well behaved that this is a bit of a shock....

AND... yesterday was my father's birthday... He passed away in 2003 on June 7th, so the next few weeks are always really hard for me.....

On a better note, I did do some golfing this weekend and got my little pool put up so I can lounge on floats and sunbathe/read this summer:)

I had NO desire to go to the gym yesterday, but did make myself go to boxing thank goodness... I did get some relatively healthy PF Changes (veggie lettuce wraps, ma po tofu, and spicy green beans) and split it w/ my husband, but my weight is WAAAY up this morning... I know its the salt, but its still annoying...

Finally today, my cat is having surgery and is under anesthesia as we speak so I will be very worried about her all day....

I SHOULD go to boxing again today as I cannot go on Thursday as I have to travel for work, but I may want to go straight home to see my kitty as my husband is picking her up....

I'm trying to eat healthy today, but I may not have it in me to count calories.....  We shall see....

I will be back later this week with hopefully more positive things to share:)

B:  1/2 brueggers bagel w/ hummus and veggies 200

S: 1/2 brueggers bagel w/ hummus and veggies 200

L:  amy's vegan enchiladas 340

S:  Amy's scrambled tofu wrap 250

Total so far: 990

Progress as of today: 1.4 lbs lost so far, only 12.2 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 05/22/2012:
I'm sorry you're going through such an emotional time, I hope your kitty will be OK. Also sorry to say this is probably just the beginning with your step-daughter, that's such an emotional, difficult age and the hormones are really kicking in for her I'm sure. I LOVE Brueggers, we had one around the corner when we lived in the city and went there a lot - their coffee is good too!

hollybelle on 05/22/2012:
Poor kitty! Hope she will do well. So sorry for emotional times. Love Brueggers, too. The one and only one here was in a bad spot - hard to drive in and out of - and went out of business. I was sad. As far as step-daughter goes - trust your instincts. It's easy to get off balance when the shift of teen years happens. It was hard at our house when daughter (who was previously very calm and sensible) went through all that - and it lasted until she was 19 - mostly because her father would not see what was going on and indulged her whims. It is a time of testing boundries (and I think for girls there is some attepts at manipulation involved-at least in our case). I am glad you can remember your own teen years - That helps. Hang in there.

hollybelle on 05/22/2012:
P.S. Yes, by all means go to boxing if you possibly can. Yay!

mysterywoman100 on 05/22/2012:
teenage years are so hard and being a mom of 4 and a step mom of 2 know each child gors thru it totally different. Have to pick your battles and kind roll with the flow. Hope your kitty is ok.

liza36 on 05/22/2012:
You are going through a lot. I hope all goes well with your step daughter and your kitty.

sweetpea1977 on 05/22/2012:
Hugs to you.

Sounds like your step-daughter is going through the typical teenage drama stuff. She is in that in-between stage of child and young adult, which can be very confusing. I was very manipulative at age and got grounded a lot because of it, lol.

Hope your kitty is ok.

V on 05/22/2012:
<3 Love you Getme..Happy to hear that your kitty is fine :) I def think that your boxing class will release some stress!

thinkpositive on 05/22/2012:
Step daughter probably just needs some TLC. If she's been pretty even up until now maybe it's just a one time thing & she'll be fine. Glad your cat did well in surgery.

nunnermack on 05/22/2012:
Yay!! Glad to hear your kitty is doing well. My old gal needs to go to the vet. I'm dreading it. I think she's going blind in her one eye but no surprise as she has Diabetes.

Ahhh...yes, I remember when I was 14. She's being a teenager. I think we all go through that, generally.

Hugs to you...I know it must be tough with your Father gone and it's his birthday.

sweetpea1977 on 06/06/2012:
I thought about you today as I ate my giant salad out of a mixing bowl. :)

I hope all is well. Miss you! <3

Weight is up a bit today... not sure if it is because I'm bloated from TOM or because I couldn't resist having a few (well probably more that a few:()   Potato chips last night... I wasn't going to buy them, but when I got to the register, I needed to spend $3 more in order to get to $100 so I could use my $15 off coupon, and somehow they were my quick (bad) decision to buy... Ugghhh!!  I went to another kickboxing class last night... It was with an instructor who I remember from when I used to belong years ago... He used to be a professional muai thai fighter and his classes are bar none the hardest thing Ive ever done... I almost threw up... Ugghhh!  I'm SO sore today I cannot take it!  Not sure how golfing will go tonight!

Wow, that kickbox class sounds serious, damn! Coconut milk yogurt sounds very interesting, I haven't seen that but I'm sure it's tastier than soy. Have a good one!

V on 05/18/2012:
Oh my!! I wanna go to the kickboxing class with YOU! Girl those MMA peeps are no joke.. I hope you are not too sore. have a good one girl <3

moogy on 05/18/2012:
Damn TOM, I suspect that it is the cravings leading up to TOM because of hormone changes that is coincidental and cause the bloating and food indulgences. I always want cake and I never eat cake any other time! Weird! Hope you have a good weekend:)

hollybelle on 05/19/2012:
Well the potato chip episode is over so nothing to do but move on. Hope TOM is otherwise uneventful!

nunnermack on 05/20/2012:
Good for you getting through the kicking boxing!! I really should take a class here. No reason why I can't if there is no jumping or running involved.

Weight: 203.4

Last night was a VERY hungry night  and I was doing all I could to stay in control... I ended up having some crackers, strawberries, italian ice, and a banana w/ peanut butter...  With all that snacking I ended the day around 2100 calories... Not a complete disaster... Maybe it was because I ate dinner earlier?  I had a vet appt last evening so I didn't make it to the gym... My weight was essentially stable this AM though, up .2#.  One of our rescue kitties (adopted from the shelter), who we have had for a year had to go for her annual physical... She got a clean bill of health, EXCEPT for her mouth... She has some HORRIBLE breath and come to find out she had a horrible impacted bleeding cavity... It looks PAINFUL, and now she needs oral surgery...To the tune of $650.... Ugghhh!!!  Good thing we love her SO much:)  That is definitely going to hurt the budget:(

Today I will go back to kickboxing and hopefully have a slightly lower calorie day, however, I'm feeling REALLY hungry... I think its b/c its TOM, so I will have to keep things under control!

B:  Banana (60) and small serving quinoa/blackbean salad (250) 310

L:  cauliflower, sweet potato, and bean indian stew 250

You increased your activity so I think it's natural you were a bit more hungry. I can't belive vet bill! Highway robbery! I am volunteering at PetSmart in my neighborhood on Saturday - hope we can get some dogs and cats adopted!

Great day yesterday with another boxing class and FINALLY kept my calories nice and low around 1600.  Today may be a rest day or I may go for a short jog or lift weights... I will update...  I made a delicious new quinoa salad for dinner last night... It  was a quinoa and blackbean salad w/ veggies and lime vinagrette... Very refreshing and delicious!  AND I'm quite proud of myself as I got tonight's dinner all set last night and am making it in the crock pot today... My first attempt ever at crock pot cooking... Its an Indian Bean, cauliflower, and sweet potato stew w/ tomatoes and coconut milk... Lets hope it tastes as delicous as it sounds...  I think the boxing is definitely burning calories as my weight is headed in the right direction this week!

sweetpea1977 on 05/16/2012:
lol, sorry about the afterburn affect. Whats your thoughts on taking an OTC sleep aid right after your workout? I used to rely heavily on Alteril and epsom baths on gym nights, but I seem to fall asleep and sleep better after I started using recovery fuel during and after my workouts. The lady at the sports nutrition store says that recovery drinks that contain L-glutamine help reduce physical stress (muscle fatigue and micro tears after a workout) as well as psychological stress. Long story short it relaxes your muscles and your mind after a workout. So, you may either want to look into recovery fuel, L-glutamine powder, or supplements in pill form. If you want to remain lean, I'd stay away from the powder and supplements. Thats what I plan on doing since Im pretty happy with how Im built now (well, except my mid section, lol). Anyway, please research it first to make sure it wont cause any intestinal issues for you. :)

Umpqua on 05/16/2012:

Weight: 204.8

Went back to the boxing gym today and did a boxing class (yesterday was kickboxing) wow it kicked my butt!  I'm totally spent!

Didn't mean to leave you all hanging with my new workout plan, but I wasn't sure it was going to work out... Good news it is!!  YEARS ago, I belonged to a boxing/MMA gym called LA Boxing  Here is the website so you can see what I'm talking about
http://laboxing.com/albany/

Anyway, when we moved from Albany to Rotterdam and bought a house, I quit the boxing gym as it is very expensive and we had a new mortgage and lived about 30 minutes farther away now... Anyway, long story short, the way the payments worked I ended up getting a certificate worth a month... This was dated December 2008...  My good friend (skinnygrl) for those who have been on here for a couple years, just recently joined the gym, and I somehow remembered about this certificate and I actually found it...  I thought wouldn't that be a great way to really intensify my working out for a month right before my vacation...   I just wasn't sure they would accept it b/c its so old, but they did!!!  I attended a 60 minute full on kickboxing class today... Holy $H*% it kicked my a$$!!!!!  I'm not going to be able to move tomorrow... My friend and I plan on going together on Mondays and Thursday's together and I'm hoping to go once a week in addition to this... I'm PUMPED!!!  I would love to join again long term but cannot afford it, but I'm just going to get ALL I can out of this free month!!

The above, I added last night:)  I'm sore today, but not actually as sore as I thought I would be, I'm actually contemplating going to a boxing class again tonight!

Yesterday was a great and on track day and I'm back down to posted weight...

B:  sandwich:  2 slices weight watchers bread (80) 3 slices tofurky (80) low fat veganaise (60) bread and butter pickles and mesculan greens (15) 235

L:  Hummus/pretzels (300) banana (60)  edamame (90) 450

I love kick boxing!! Join the class once for 2 Months and I really liked it. Down side the kick boxing center is too far away from my office or home. So I do body combat in gym. Not the same but, "almost" alike. Ehe.. and your in MMA before? Oh my... Nice... ehe..

I lived in Suffern, NY which to you would be the 'burbs of New York City. However, for the New Yorkers they would say that Suffern was upstate. I never understood that. LOL. But, used to go to my FAVORITE little town of all time....Woodstock!!! Love, LOVE the little artist communities in the Lower Hudson Valley. Sigh. Miss it!!

sweetpea1977 on 05/15/2012:
Wow, thats awesome news about the kickboxing! That should definitely get the metabolism in high gear! As for my meatless protein meals, here are some examples of what I eat:

Breakfast or Lunch: 1 cup egg whites scrambled with moz cheese and sauteed veggies; toast topped with mashed avocado, egg whites, cheese, and tomato; 100% whey protein shake with an additional source (or two) of protein like a serving of pb/ff greek yogurt/milk of some sort and raw spinach and fruit that I've frozen in advance for lunch

Dinner: some sort of homemade bean (black beans, soybeans) dish with a side salad/steamed veggies. Right now, my favorite meatless dinner is my homemade black bean burrito made with a low carb whole wheat tortilla, shredded cheese, fresh salsa, and avocado.

Snacks: fruit + string cheese; homemade whole wheat pita chips and raw veggies dipped in hummus; wasa crispbread topped with homemade egg salad, tuna salad, or lf cottage cheese; greek yogurt with fresh fruit and raw almonds; protein bar.

Umpqua on 05/15/2012:
Kickboxing sounds awesome, I've always wanted to try it! Your plan sounds great, can't wait to hear how it goes!

I have heard that boxing is one of the most intense way of exercising. I bet your shoulders were killing you the next day. Bonus to this exercise is that you not only get fit you can take out any person giving you a hard time!!!! :) Thanks for the welcome back:)

***UPDATE***  Didn't mean to leave you all hanging with my new workout plan, but I wasn't sure it was going to work out... Good news it is!!  YEARS ago, I belonged to a boxing/MMA gym called LA Boxing  Here is the website so you can see what I'm talking about
http://laboxing.com/albany/

Anyway, when we moved from Albany to Rotterdam and bought a house, I quit the gym as it is very expensive and we had a new mortgage and lived about 30 minutes farther away now...

I had a wonderful weekend!  Beautiful weather of 75-80 and sunny both days... On Saturday we went to see the Movie Dark Shadows-ok, entertaining, but not that great, and went to the Driving range... I also prepped TONS of food for Sunday...  Sat night hubby and I had some really good wine and cleaned the house...

Yesterday was all about family and fun...  We had our Mother's over for hor duerves at noon... Went to a really interesting wine tour and tasting at the local winery at 3PM and then came back and had dinnerrr of pizza and salad when we got back... With all the rich food and the wine, my weight is WAAAY up today so I need to focus on getting it back to the low I saw over the weekend of 203.2.  I have LOTS of leftovers so I need to be careful:)

B:  Amy's burrito 300

S:  3 crostini (150) w/ artichoke walnut pesto (100) 250

L:  Godess protein bowl 250

S:  more crostini w/ pesto (250) strawberries (40) 290

D:  Leftover tossed salad w/ some add ins...  Will calculate the calories later... Veggies (30) roasted beets/eggplant (100) sliced almonds (50) dressing (100) crostini and artichoke pesto (250) 530

Exercise:  I may have a new exciting exercise plan for the month, but I'm not sure yet... Will report later!

Total planned so far: 1620

Goal: Under 1800

Progress as of today: 0.8 lbs lost so far, only 12.8 lbs to go!

RYC, the exercise has made all the difference for me! I straighten out my food lifestyle and that knock down a few pounds but it was the exercise that started the ball rolling. We started walking 5 days a week for 1/2 hour. Then I bought my bike and would ride on the weekends and still walk during the week. Now we have abandoned the walking for riding every day for an hour after work. I like the riding better than the walking. I got bored with the walking and it felt like a chore. I really like to ride the levee and look at the river and the houses. And now I am enjoying my new foods too. Please tell me about your exciting exercise plan - I love to try new things!!! Have a great day!

Good plan, I didn't even bother stepping on the scale after eating pizza, give it a few days and your weight will be back down once everything is flushed out. I was wondering about Dark Shadows, Tim Burton has been on repeat with the same cast and same type characters in all his movies for years now so I'm not really surprised, but it's a little disappointing since I like a lot of his movies. Have a good one!

Nice weekend! Don't worry you'll get back down in weight. Have to have some splurges occasionally, especially for special days.

Thanks! I'm getting a 'credit' pre-trip which begins in 2 weeks. Like to have some leeway before I go.

sweetpea1977 on 05/14/2012:
Glad you had nice weekend, despite the movie being a disappointment.

Im looking forward to hearing about your new exercise plan!

Nice weekend! You must dish about the new exciting exercise plan - what?????

nunnermack on 05/14/2012:
Yeah, I paid an arm and a leg when I belonged to a gym back east!! I know how that goes. When I moved to SoCal and the gym was only $20 a month (expensive by California standards), I thought something was wrong! LOL. Oh yeah, kick boxing really does kick your butt. It's a great workout and good for you! (BTW...I miss upstate New York! It's so pretty up there!!)

hollybelle on 05/15/2012:
Wonderful about kickboxing! Sounds like fun.

hollybelle on 05/15/2012:
Checked out the site and it is like some classes I did when I worked downtown. They were fun and I remember they made me feel powerful! Hahahahahah. Go for it !

Kati on 05/15/2012:
