Beautiful pics Annie. Enjoy your day and have a great Xmas.

grannyannie on 12/24/2015:
Thanks. Same to you Fran!

OhioRaven on 12/24/2015:
I would really enjoy the history, temples and museums.

grannyannie on 12/24/2015:
I love them! It's an interesting mix of Buddhism with the addition of reverence for Hindu and Chinese Gods/esses.

biscottibody59 on 12/24/2015:
It's lovely weather for a bike ride together with . . .

Enjoy your days and nights! Cheers!

grannyannie on 12/25/2015:
Thanks! Happy holidays to you.

puddles on 12/23/2015:
I will have a few blips of my own during my holiday I am sure but will try to remember not to blip every day. lol Have a good day Annie.

grannyannie on 12/23/2015:
Thanks Fran. Same to you.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/23/2015:
So sorry about the scale back up...I agree, that's SO ANNOYING! :)

But, hey, seems you've been able to enjoy a lot of nice food & drink while away. So, i'm sure you'll be ok & get it at least back down & continue to enjoy your time away. Weight gain is hard to accept even while on vacation i'd have a hard time seeing my weight go up & up! lol....but I have confidence in you!

grannyannie on 12/23/2015:
Thanks! I just don't want it to get out of control. It just felt so good to have the scale going down so much when we were first here. Clothes all fit fine but vanity loves a smaller tummy in a bikini.

grannyannie - Tuesday Dec 22, 2015

Scale went down but I wonder if it's fluid loss.  Better start getting on it every day.

Rain or heavy rain most of the day.  So we visited some Buddhist and other temples during breaks in the rain.  Hope the rain is off when it's time for me to go to the gym in the morning.

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/raisins/soy milk, soy yogurt, canteloupe, tea
  • S:  Large cappuccino with small cup of biscuits
  • L:  Fried rice with cashews and pork, peach iced tea (have to stop ordering these as they are high cal)
  • D:  glass noodle soup with pork
  • S:  packet of crunchy seaweed, chunk of cheddar

Progress as of today: 26 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/22/2015:
I've been to a Buddhist temple - it was when I went to Niagara Falls back in September 2013. It was so different from anything I have ever experienced in religion.

Very rainy here too, my phone app says rain for the next week pretty much! But i'll take it - no snow is a great thing.

Porridge is nice & filling. I tend to add banana to mine because it helps bulk it back together since I eat it at work & prefer it to sit with me.

I used to eat a lot of dried seaweed - i'd buy the sheets and snack on them. I did this years ago - probably around 2006-2008. So long ago!

grannyannie on 12/22/2015:
The temples here have tons of gold and are very ornate. Funny thing when monks are supposed to be poor and beg for food.

OhioRaven on 12/22/2015:
Yes, a Rich Monk seems to be Oxymoronic.

grannyannie on 12/22/2015:
Aye. We see them out early in the morning with their begging bowls. Monks are treated very well and are highly respected. Not sure where all the money comes from to build these gorgeous gold temples with intricate carvings and paintings. I always donate all my coins when we visit one.

Didn't get on scale.  Was going to skip beer tonight even though it's a gym day, but got weak when I sat down to dinner. LOL.

  • 3 x 10 lunges, side lunges, squats, calf lifts
  • 20 mins elliptical intervals
  • 10 mins bike

Home:

  • 3 x 10 abs, bridge, planks, pushups, triceps dips
  • 3 x 10 w/ankle weights for glutes and thighs

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/raisins/soy milk, soy yogurt, sm banana, toast w/flora and jam, tea
  • S:  Americano & small biscuits
  • L:   plain omelette and fries
  • D:  pork and lots of veggies (very healthy and low cal), 1 large beer
  • S:  crunchy things (I think it's seaweed but it's 120 cals), 1/2 lg lite beer

Progress as of today: 23.5 lbs lost so far, only 8.5 lbs to go!

puddles on 12/21/2015:
The mind is strong but the body is weak.... lol It is hard to be on holidays and not give in to temptation. The problem is that our holidays are for long durations which makes it even harder to stay on track. Enjoy your pleasures Annie.

grannyannie on 12/21/2015:
Thanks Fran. I've done really well so far. Was a blip on the scale as this morning it was back to where it was.

Oops, scale is going in the wrong direction.  Too many calories obviously.  I'll need to have more 'light' days.  I think I'll skip the beer on my M W gym days this week and have my beer and treat on xmas day.

Today we'll ride 7.5 miles roundtrip to a cafe for dinner.

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/raisins/soy milk, soy yogurt, 2 sm bananas, tea
  • S:  cappuccino & small biscuits
  • L:  something a bit different - shrimp, pineapple, warm potato salad with mayo
  • D:  duck curry w/carrots, tomatoes, lime leaves, pineapple; apple/lime/cucumber/celery juice not sweet
  • S:  apple

HOP asked about the food here and how much veggies were in them.  So I'm posting some photos.

Curries, lots of veggies and tofu.

Common veggies in curries and other dishes are cauliflower, green beans, broccoli, some Thai veggies, a Thai eggplant, carrots, lots of various leaves, herbs, often pineapple, cucumber on the side.

Chicken wrap with chaplu leaves, lemongrass, shredded veggies, coriander

Pork and kale and other greens

Pork and veggies

The food looks wonderful and all things that I really like. I would do real well in that area of the world. I seriously have to take a look at that area for my next Winter. I have thought about it but I should get a little more serious about it. I don't think it is the food that is causing you problem might be the BEER..... lol. I know it would do it to me. Have a great day Annie.

grannyannie on 12/20/2015:
My rules were 2 beers or other alcohol on my gym days, but sometimes I get the extra large bottle, so I blame mostly the beer.

puddles on 12/20/2015:
I also blame the beer especially once I hit the 19 hole of golf..... lol

grannyannie on 12/20/2015:
LOL

grannyannie - Saturday Dec 19, 2015
(Clean eating - serious workouts)
Weight: 141.0

7 1/2 mile bike ride.

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/raisins/soy milk, soy yogurt, small banana, tea
  • L:  chicken/herb/veggie wrap, cookie, lime and soda juice
  • S:  watermelon and canteloupe
  • D:  sweet green curry with prawns
  • S:  small chunk of cheese

Going to have my next treat on xmas day.  Since it's a Friday it will be a gym day so I'm already allowed beer/other alcohol that day.  So I'll add in a dessert.  No idea where we'll be eating dinner that day, but we're thinking about booking a boat and snorkeling trip that day. It's not a holiday here since it's a Buddhist country, but there are xmas trees and decorations and non-religious xmas music everywhere for all the christian tourists or expats.

Progress as of today: 26 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/19/2015:
yeah, in the US, it seems most celebrate Christmas...but seems not to be the case in many parts of the world - particularly Asia...

with the sweet green curry, does it include veggies or only the shrimp?

grannyannie on 12/19/2015:
The curry has tons of different veggies as well. They use a lot of veggies here.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/19/2015:
Yum....yes, the only way i'd want to eat curry is if it had a ton of veggies in it. Once in awhile, I order curry from Thai restaurants. They make it well - with lots of veggies too :)

grannyannie on 12/19/2015:
Very healthy food here. I have to watch though as they use coconut milk/cream or fry rice or noodle, and also I share the rice with hubby instead of having my own. I'll post some pics of the food when I do my post for Sunday.

  • B:  porridge/raisins/soy milk, soy yogurt, pineapple, toast w/flora and jam, tea
  • S:  Americano & small biscuits

  • S:  12 oz vodka and melon drink

Progress as of today: 26 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

OhioRaven on 12/18/2015:
I could use a Vodka right now.

grannyannie on 12/18/2015:
Try a Smirnoff vodka and melon. Sweet and delicious.

puddles on 12/18/2015:
I will joint you guys in the vodka but I enjoy it with Clematoe juice. My favorite. I rather have a scale stuck on a number then going up Annie.

grannyannie on 12/18/2015:
Yea, I'd rather have it stuck than going up as well! :)

OhioRaven on 12/18/2015:
I learn SO much on this website.

  • D:  red curry soup with tofu, 1/2 portion rice

Not going to allow myself a treat until I get to 140 lbs.  Then a treat for each pound I lose.

Progress as of today: 26 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

puddles on 12/17/2015:
It all looks good Annie. The treats are the killers are they not? Holidays always have some treats different from the home base. Enjoy your day.

grannyannie on 12/18/2015:
Since I'm regulating my treats I'm doing well. Scale is solidly stuck at 64.1 kg (141 lb) since Sunday.

Progress as of today: 26 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/16/2015:
The fried pork and veggies with a beer sounds like it hits the spot. Sometimes the extra fat is really satisfying. I do that with avocado a lot when I feel like i'm not getting in enough fat i'll have at least 1/2 avocado with my meal...

Also, kayaking sounds wonderful!

Where do you kayak? Love hearing about your travels because maybe one day i'll go there! hahaha :)

grannyannie on 12/16/2015:
This pork wasn't fatty like at the other restaurant so tasted like a very low fat meal.

We are across the road from the beach - Gulf of Thailand - quite calm. So we are keeping our kayak on the beach and just keeping our paddles at the house.

OhioRaven on 12/16/2015:
I saw an interesting fact yesterday. Thailand is one of the hottest places on earth, with the temperature 90 F almost every day of the year. I think it was on The Weather Channel.

grannyannie on 12/16/2015:
It depends on what part of the country - it's quite big. On our island it's normally 29-31 during the day - all year - mid 80's. At night it cools a bit and we do get sea breezes which help a lot.

OhioRaven on 12/17/2015:
Tell the Hubster " Hands off your Biscuits" !

grannyannie on 12/17/2015:
LOL! He doesn't like the biscuits that much so I usually eat mine and half of his!
