I should be getting on the scale every morning to check on damage and to re-motivate me. Snacking and beer.  

Workout at gym:  shorter workout as gym was busy and I had shopping and errands to do.

  • 30 mins spin bike
  • 4 x 12 on 4 resistance machines

Haven't counted calories today and we are going on a local brewery tour with nephew.  I'll volunteer to be designated driver which means I can only have 1/2 pint beer.  Beer is just about guaranteed to take any willpower I have to resist snacking!  

 

Progress as of today: 29.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

Had early dinner with Ugandan daughter who was on her way to London but will be back to visit us on Tuesday.  I had a chicken burger and chips and a beer.  Before nephew arrived from London we went to the cinema.  Had a regular size bag of peanut M & M's.  1/2 pint beer.  Another 1/2 pint when nephew arrived.  A piece of cheese when we got home with a G & T.  Okay, two G & T's.    Stayed up chatting until 1:30 am.  

Plan on eating normally today - about 1400 calories.  

Progress as of today: 29.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

Scale going down!  

Challenge starts today with nephew coming this evening for a week.  

Eating dinner out so don't know the calorie count. But I'm having my usual breakfast and lunch.  Going to a movie before nephew's train arrives and I need to resist the urge to buy chocolate to take to the movie as is my habit.

The popcorn you can buy at the cinema is drowned in butter - no choice. About 2,000 calories I think! I'd be better with a normal sized packet of M & Ms. :)

  • 11 routines with dumbbells - 3 x 12

  • lunges w/dumb   bells using step - 3 x  10

Love looking at these pics! I had to laugh about the nephew and housing cleaning - Mark and I say that if it weren't for company we would never clean house! Of course that's not strictly true, but we do our best work when people are coming!

Thanks for all the comments on my previous posts.  We've been on our bikes again - Tues. and Weds. all day.  Gorgeous sunshine.  Didn't count calories of course but could have done worse on my food and beer.  We did 38 miles the first day and 36 the second in a different area.  

Back to normal today:  no workouts but doing housework and already did grocery shopping.  21 year old nephew coming Saturday for a week, followed by Ugandan daughter on Tuesday.  

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/blueberries/almond milk
  • L:  hummous on whole grain toast, yogurt, canteloupe, grapes
  • S:  have had a craving for a sweet called Wine Gums
  • D:  veg chili & basmati rice, salad
  • S:  gin & low cal tonic and lime
  • Tea w/soy milk, coffee w/almond milk, low cal tonic water, herbal teas

Cals:  1334

Thanks! Actually we don't use km here, it is still miles for some reason. I've hit 500 miles on the odometer on my bike and I got the bike the second week of June. Love it!

Another drizzly day.  But sun is expected tomorrow and Weds.  So we'll be on our bikes tomorrow.   

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/dried fruit/almond milk
  • S:  2 oatcakes & pb
  • L:  grilled cheese, yogurt, strawberries, 1 clementine
  • D:  veg chili & basmati rice, salad
  • Tea w/soy milk, coffee w/almond milk, low cal tonic water, herbal teas

Workout at gym:
  • 30 mins spin bike
  • 5 mins rowing machine
  • 10 mins elliptical - interval training
  • 4 x 12 on 4 resistance machines
  • 3 x 12 rope/pulley f or triceps
Was going to do my upper body muscle work at home but hubby talked me into a bike ride to the botanic gardens even though it's drizzly.  12+ miles roundtrip.  A short one, but seemed longer in the drizzle.  I had a cuppa tea at the gardens cafe and resisted having a cake or cookies!

Husband and I decided to ride our bikes into town to pick up some groceries.  Just over 20 miles roundtrip.  Not hilly.  On the way back we stopped at a cafe for tea, bacon roll, and a Tunnock's Caramel Wafer (134 cals).  

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/dried fruit/almond milk
  • L:  bacon roll, wafer
  • D:  veg chili & basmati rice, salad
  • Tea w/soy milk, coffee w/almond milk, low cal tonic water, herbal teas
  • S:  Gin and tonic

Cals:  under 1400

Any chance to get on the bike! We didn't pick up that much but we have two paniers each. Certainly not what I'd do for the weekly big shopping. I pick up odds and ends when I take the bus to the gym, but a big shopping needs the car.

That's a short ride for us. Most of our rides are 40 miles with the longest being 52. Sounds a lot but we have pedal-assisted electric bikes to help with hills.

BBQ last night.  Friends didn't serve until nearly 7:30 and I was STARVING.  Had two small glasses of wine while waiting. Dinner was sausage, venison burger, chicken drumstick, sweet potato, bread, cole slaw, salad, wine.  I chose the smallest wine glass for myself.  No dessert and was offered 1/2 a Twix which I took.  A few sips of a liqueur later. 

I think I got dehydrated as very early this morning I had a horrible leg cramp.  Too sore for the gym.  Lazy day.

  • L:  sliced chicken breast sandwich, yogurt, strawberries, banana

In 2004 I was in Europe for 8 week and had a car rental so traveled a lot in Europe and Scandanavian countries so this time I just want to get out of here and take a break and thought Paris would be a nice place to just go and relax for two weeks.
