HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I am grateful for many, many, many things!

30 mins spin class - intense!

I feel a bit cheated by not getting a proper TG dinner today. I picked up some nice roasted turkey breast slices and had a turkey sandwich - it was delicious. Also had a Kit Kat. And I'm finishing the bottle of wine I opened to celebrate hubby's birthday yesterday (he drank beer). Didn't count calories but could have been worse. I resisted temptation many times in the supermarket today. Our expanded store has a lot more choices in it now and I'm enjoying checking it out. It's our main supermarket in town and might as well be the only one.

I really need to behave myself - which I keep saying every day. Two days in the city next week where I will indulge, so I should be strict until then and afterward.

Progress as of today: 36.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!

V on 11/22/2012:
You know Annie as long as you keep your indulging to 10-15 % of the time, you will be just fine :) No need to feel guilty about ANY of this.. From where I stand your daily menu looks healthy to me :) Sorry just thinking out loud.. Happy Thanksgiving my friend <3

Today I am very grateful for my wonderful husband who is 64 today but seems like 40!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the US!!

No rain today!  Supposed to get gale force winds and pouring rain tomorrow. Why does it seem to always rains on my grocery shopping day?!

Workout at gym:

  • 30 mins spin bike (really intense and added some sprints)
  • 30 mins treadmill
  • 3 sets of 12 on 6 resistance machines
  • 3 sets of 12 cable/pulley for triceps

Menu:

Mostly clean eating. Bought a bite sized chocolate covered caramel at the chocolate shop next to my bus stop. Having a couple of glasses of wine to celebrate hubby's birthday. But otherwise not bad.

Progress as of today: 36.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!

V on 11/21/2012:
Yayy for NO RAIN :) Happy Birthday to your hubby!! In honor of his special day, I may have to have a glass or two of vino as well ;) Happy Thanksgiving <3

V on 11/21/2012:
Oh! RYC it is not just the college kids getting plastered. Truth be told they are far more tame than the much older ones...Hahahahaha

biscottibody59 on 11/22/2012:
Your comment means a lot to me, thank you!

Nice to have a subdued little birthday celebration--hope it was a good one!

Today I am grateful for the friendly peole in my gym (and everywhere).

Found out that my bus didn't come yesterday because our road was closed due to flooding. It was open later in the day though. If we had to get to town we could have driven the other direction but it would add about 15 miles to our trip!

Planned on being strict but for some reason I bought a big packet of Tic Tacs and ate them all!     Also had some extra oatcakes and a skinny mocha that wasn't on my menu for today.

We bought a Kindle for our Ugandan daughter for her graduation gift and will bring it to her in January. I'm loading it up with lots of free classics as she loves those, but also choosing some others. She won't be able to purchase any books so we're trying to get it well-loaded up. We don't want anyone to be able to make purchases on it if it gets lost or stolen, so one-click ordering will be turned off and the password won't be known. She loves to read and while we lived there she borrowed every one of our books, including all the ones we picked up from our organization's library.

Today is normally a rest day but I went to the gym anyway. Had a wee bit of shopping to do.

Workout at gym:

  • 35 mins spin bike
  • 10 mins elliptical

Menu:

Mostly clean eating but should be around 1700 calories for today. Could be worse.

Progress as of today: 36.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!

getmebackto150 on 11/20/2012:
Definitely could be worse than 1700 calories... Its funny b/c I always think of tic tacs as "free" but I guess if you eat the whole container the calories can add up a bit... Have a great day:)

V on 11/20/2012:
Well at least you have minty fresh breath ;) That is an awesome idea to load up on the kindle books now, I am sure it would be expensive to ship them over to her.. Have a wonderful day Annie :)

legcramps on 11/20/2012:
What a great idea about the kindle - how sweet are you?!!!

V on 11/20/2012:
That is so awesome that you already downloaded 100 books, that should keep her busy for a bit <3

biscottibody59 on 11/21/2012:
Glad you survived the tictac episode! I wonder why we do things like that?

Today I am grateful for my warm, cozy home.

I went out in the wind and rain this morning to catch the bus to the gym and it never showed up. Never happened before. I guess the bus broke down or maybe the road was flooded. So I went back inside and dried off and did my workouts at home.

I've been doing too much snacking lately, mainly oatcakes or baked crisps, so I need to get tough. I still want to lose about 2 or 3 pounds which doesn't sound like a lot but I can definitely see/feel the difference. Goal: get back to 128 before we go to our overnight in Glasgow for a concert on the 29th.

Workout:

  • 45 mins tae bo including 8 x 25 jump rope
  • 20 mins exercise bike
  • 7 min video routine for triceps/arms
  • dumbbells - 3 sets of 12 - 7 routines
  • side dips with dumbbell
  • squats
  • lunges w/dumbbells
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks (full and alternating)
  • push ups
  • triceps dips
  • thigh master
  • abs-5 routines
  • bridge (for glutes)
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/raisins/chopped almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  2 oatcakes/pb, 2 eggs, reduced fat smoked sausage, toast
  • S:  clementine
  • D:  tofu curry & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  V8, clementine
  • Teas & water
TOTAL:  1467

Progress as of today: 36.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!

V on 11/19/2012:
That's crazy that the bus never showed up.Hopefully the bus driver is okay and hope you didn't get drenched waiting out there..Good job at making it work since you didn't make it to the gym! I am sure you will shed those 2 lbs before your trip. Have a great day Annie :)

Today I am grateful for my good health!

We like to travel as much as we can while both of us are fit and healthy. Never know what the future holds!

Haven't seen the sun for days and days!

Workout at gym:  (I think 3 times a week on the spin bike is enough and need more variety in my cardio. I really should add the stepper and rowing machine but I don't like either one. But I'll give the stepper a try again.)

  • 15 mins elliptical
  • 30 mins treadmill
  • 15 more mins elliptical
  • 3 sets of 12 on 6 resistance machines
  • cables/pulley for triceps - 3 sets of 12
  • back lifts on half ball - 3 sets of 10

Wanted to do my home strength routines today but just felt too tired after lunch. Best to do it when I've got plenty of energy so I'll do it tomorrow - with lots of extra reps. Then I'll clean house.

Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/raisins/chopped almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  post gym snack:  2 oatcakes w/pb
  • L:  Have had a craving for a cheeseburger so gave in. Bought the lean ground steak so it wasn't as juicy as I wanted. Used low fat cheddar and extra light mayo on a homemade bakery roll.  Packet of baked crisps.
  • D:  veggie curry & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  clementine, grapes
  • Teas & water
TOTAL:  under 1800

Progress as of today: 36.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!

liza36 on 11/16/2012:
I think variety is a good thing in your workouts. I'm not a big fan of the rower either, but it might help from being bored. Have a great weekend.

V on 11/16/2012:
I love that you guys get to travel to so many interesting places.I aspire to do the same :) Great workout today, I hope you find a machine that you like, I am not a fan of most of the machines at the gym either but I don't mind the rower.. Have a wonderful weekend Annie!

V on 11/16/2012:
RYC, hurts so good right? LOL I have a stationary recumbent bike that I spent a fortune on and I NEVER use it :( I should try to sell it, it would free up alot of space in my gym..If you lived closer, i would GIVE it to you, I bet you would put it to good use!

nunnermack on 11/16/2012:
Hey Annie!! I noticed that you broke up your eliptical with the treadmill. Do your feet fall asleep on the eliptical too? I've always had that problem and that's the only reason why I can't stay on it for more than a half an hour.

Today I am grateful that our main grocery store is now done refurbishing and expanding and except for having trouble finding some items I really enjoyed my shopping today.  (If you shopped in my town you'd understand. We only have this grocery store and a small/moderate sized store that I won't shop in - too expensive, little variety.)

Didn't post yesterday, but I did my full gym workout. Did some extra snacking and drank a couple of glasses of hubby's home brewed beer.

Today:

Workout:  30 mins spin class

Should have done my home strength routines yesterday or today but didn't.   I'll do extra reps when I do the next one either tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning.

Mostly clean eating today but could have done better. Need to get back on track again. Still feel I need to lose a bit more in a couple of areas.

Next week my hubby turns 64 so to celebrate we're spending a night in Glasgow and going to a concert - Rodrigo's Guitar Concerto.

Progress as of today: 36.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!

liza36 on 11/15/2012:
I love guitar music, so your concert sounds wonderful. Hope you enjoyed your spin class. I tried my first one while I was out of town. I may try one again at my gym. Not sure if I really like it or not, so I have to give it another try.

V on 11/15/2012:
You guys are always on the go, I love it! RYC yes the abs are defined but I still have a bit of excess skin that lingers. I'm okay with that but I will always train hard..LOL Have a great evening!

biscottibody59 on 11/15/2012:
Good going on the workouts--excellent as usual:-)

Today I am grateful for all the friends I've met online!!

This will be my first christmas in Scotland. We've switched our Michigan trips to summer. I know my 7 year old granddaughter will be unhappy (and me) but will Skype her. We all enjoy ourselves much more during nice weather instead of being stuck inside.

Rest day. Making some French bread today to go with pasta and the homemade sauce I'd frozen weeks ago.

Will start shopping for xmas gifts for family today. So easy. I just shop at Amazon.com and have them shipped to my sister who will kindly wrap them for me.

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/raisins/chopped almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  salad w/2 Quorn ginger/lime fillets
  • S:  clementine
  • D:  pasta w/homemade sauce, french bread, drink
  • S: yogurt
  • Teas & water

TOTAL:  should be under 1500

Progress as of today: 36.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!

V on 11/13/2012:
That is so nice of your sister..I am the family's official gift wrapper..Not a fan of shopping during the holiday season so I give my sister money to shop for me and in exchange for my wrapping services.. The brothers just assume that a bottle of wine or two(for me) suffices, man are they smart ;) LOL

How are you two spending Xmas since you won't be in Michigan? Anyhoo enjoy your rest day :)

thinkpositive on 11/14/2012:
It was probably hard to make that decision but sounds like a good one- you seemed to enjoy the summer visit. Nice that you can send gifts to your sister to wrap. That is one positive to being back- not such a push to shop.

liza36 on 11/14/2012:
The smell of fresh bread is wonderful. Hope you enjoy it.

thenewMLE on 11/15/2012:
Does the climate improve the texture of the bread? I know in New Orleans we have traditional French Bread with the lightly crisped crust and the soft open texture inside. When I was in Chicago I failed at making good French Bread and I was told that they did not have enough humidity! Have fun Christmas shopping! That stresses me out now that I work out of the house so I have started shopping all year long. If I see something someone would like, I buy it and scratch them off my list. It also takes the pressure off the finances!! PRoblem is, the kids are now old (mine are 21 & 22, nephews are 18 and nieces are both 21) I have 2 little nieces 11 and 13 so they are the ones I still enjoy shopping for. I think I smell your bread from here....Have a great day!
