Today I am grateful for sunshine and my lovely loch!

Happy Saturday, ladies!

My husband makes 99% of our dinners so tonight I'm making something as I have been craving spaghetti recently. It's a recipe I've never tried. I'm also making French bread but have already calculated the calories/gram (once it's been baked anyway). I rarely eat anything made with white flour but I'll make an exception this time.    The spaghetti sauce calls for red wine so I guess I'll need to have a glass as well!

Vegetarian spaghetti bolognese made with Quorn (you can buy it in the US as well):

http://www.quorn.co.uk/recipes/61/

The scale has finally budged! It's been stuck on 131.* for ages and went up to 132 after the indulgences of last weekend (ice cream, cookies, wine, rolls). But today went down to 130.4 so I'm changing it on my stats.

Workout:

  • 45 mins tae bo/jump rope

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/strawberries/raspberries/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  2 eggs, 2 slices turkey bacon, 1 multigrain toast
  • S:  fresh pineapple
  • D:  vegetarian spaghetti bolognese, French bread w/garlic & marg, salad, glass of red wine
  • Teas & water

TOTAL:  about 1700

Progress as of today: 36.6 lbs lost so far, only 2.4 lbs to go!

Way to go on your loss! I hope you have a great weekend yourself! :o)

sailingeagle on 09/08/2012:
Annie, I went to the Quorn link that you have posted, and it sounds delicious! What is Quorn exactly? Is it a type of meat? I wonder if I can find it at Walmart? Thank you for sharing!

IndependentEm93 on 09/08/2012:
Congrats on the loss!!

Today I am grateful for my family!

Seems like my life revolves around my workouts and meal planning and counting!

Although the curries my husband makes aren't all the same and the ingredients vary, I need a change sometimes. The BBQ last Saturday was a nice change, but I guess to have something different I need to do some of the cooking occasionally. So tomorrow I'm going to make whole wheat spaghetti with homemade sauce and Quorn mince instead of hamburger. I haven't made French bread before but I'll be making it tomorrow. Husband is at a political meeting all day tomorrow and he's the one who has made the French bread before. I'll make a garlic spread for it as well.  Salad as well. The one drawback about this meal is the French bread is so good it's hard to stop eating it!!

  • 35 mins spin bike
  • 15 mins treadmill
  • 4 sets of 10 on 6 resistance machines

  • bridge (for glutes)
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights

Today I am grateful that I live in a country with an abundance of clean water, clean air, and open spaces!

Hope you lovely ladies have a healthy & pleasant day!

We don't have any trips planned in the near future, not until January. And I've got itchy feet! Guess I'll have to settle for a day trip on the free bus to a nice village and lunch out when I hit my goal.

Workout:

  • 30 mins spin bike class (I think it's our monthly strength-building class today - ouch!)

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  pbj on whole wheat sandwich (after spin and before grocery shopping)

Maria7 on 09/06/2012:
Sounds like you are having a good day...also sounds like a real nice plan for your reward for getting to goalweight, too. :-)

legcramps on 09/06/2012:
I like your plan for when you hit your goal! I would have itchy feet myself if I had to wait that long for another trip; i'm already looking forward to trips into the city at the end of this month and in November :)

liza36 on 09/06/2012:
I'd sure settle for a little trip like that. Enjoy your spin class.

V on 09/06/2012:
Got a case of wanderlust huh? Make sure you take pics on your day trip.i love all of your scenic shots :) have a great evening my friend <3

Thanks for the encouragement and I am sure you are right about my clothes getting looser and getting more motivation. The idea you gave about something light in the eve was a good one. Someone else said it too. I am surprised I didn't think of it sooner, but then, that is what makes this site so good.

Today I am grateful for technology!

Hope everybody is doing well!

I've been feeling and seeing changes in my body recently.  The loose skin is tightening up, especially around my middle, my bum is still saggy but less so, more muscular legs.

My goal now is to get smaller boobs (goal weight should do it), get rid of those bat wings, smaller saddlebags, tighten up skin under arms, a 29-30" waist, bum of steel!

Workout at gym:
I've been doing the spin bike 4 times a week (3 in gym, 1 in class) and think a change is needed.  So I'm skipping the Weds spin bike at the gym and doing treadmill/elliptical instead.
  • 30 mins treadmill (5.5-6kph, 7-12% incline)
  • 25 mins elliptical
  • 4 sets of 10 on 6 resistance machines
  • cables/pulley for triceps
  • back lifts on half ball
Workout at home:
  • dumbbells - 4 sets of 10 - 7 routines
  • planks (full and alternating)
  • push ups
  • doing this instead (thanks Sweetpea1977!):
  • triceps dips
  • side dips with dumbbell
  • abs-5 routines
  • bridge (for glutes)
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • squats
  • lunges w/dumbbells
  • thigh master
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  2 oatcakes w/pb
  • L:  2 slice whole grain toast w/pbj
  • S:  apple V8
  • D:  veggie curry & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  skinny cappuccino & 1 oatcake w/pb
  • Teas & water
TOTAL:  1521

Progress as of today: 35.4 lbs lost so far, only 3.6 lbs to go!

Maria7 on 09/05/2012:
You are close to your goal, too. :-) Hope you are having a good day over there in Scotland. :-)

liza36 on 09/05/2012:
Wonderful goals, and great you are seeing results you want. At the speed on your treadmill, are you running or walking? That's a steep incline too. Good for you! For smaller boob, I may have to resort to surgery. That is my goal someday!

inmorning on 09/05/2012:
Good for you on the elliptical. That thing kicks my behind!

V on 09/05/2012:
That is awesome that you are seeing some changes :) I LOVE that arm workout BTW, i added it this evening as well..Yes Thanks Sweetpea ;)

hollybelle on 09/05/2012:
Yay for a tightening bum! lol! But seriously! I'd take it!

selina on 09/06/2012:

Where has everybody disappeared to???

I always wonder why birds stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth. Then I ask myself the same question. ~Harun Yahya

I stuck to plan yesterday, then after dinner realized we had to go to friends' house to help with a mock interview as our friend has a big job interview tomorrow. Being wine lovers they kept refilling my glass and I didn't object.    We stayed quite late and plates of shortbread and biscuits (cookies) were put right in front of me. Argghh.....   Feeling a bit tired today and I had intended to do a tae bo/jump rope workout.  Or go for a walk.  Maybe later.....

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  2 toast w/pate, banana
  • S:  clementine
  • D:  veggie curry & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  apple, 1 oatcake
  • Teas & water

Good Morning Annie :) It does appear that we are missing a few of the usual suspects but it is the start of school for some of the girls with children here and I am sure after summer break their schedules are a little hectic..

Sound like you all had a really good evening! Hope you get your energy levels up today, a cat nap might do the trick. Have a good day :)

Maria7 on 09/04/2012:
A walk sounds good. :-)

I'm back!! Unintentional time away for me! I missed all of y'all and realize I really enjoy reading everyone's post and I get a lot of inspiration from everyone. I took some pics this evening and added them to this morning's post. You have inspired me to take the time to take my photos. As much as I used to enjoy scenic photography, work has interfered with my leisure time. But a girl's gotta eat, right? So I am putting some more time into my food photography. Have a great evening and i hope you perked up a little!

Today I am grateful for living in such a friendly country--where you can chat to strangers on the street or at the bus stop, where almost everybody thanks the bus driver when they get off the bus, where the driver will drop you off right in front of your house, and where it's free for people like me who are 60 and older!!

Good news! The Scottish government wants to help everybody make their homes more fuel efficient. So they will give you a grant and an interest free loan to have the new system installed. We have decided on an air heat pump. The house will be warmer AND we'll cut our fuel bills by about 2/3!

Got off track yesterday and started eating the leftovers from Saturday night - chicken, potatoes, a devilled egg, a roll, ice cream. I'm on track now though!

Workout at gym:

  • 35 mins spin bike (I can't believe they got it fixed already! They are usually VERY slow about getting equipment fixed.)
  • 25 mins treadmill at an incline of 7-10%
  • 4 sets of 10 on 6 resistance machines
  • cables/pulley for triceps
  • back lifts on half ball

Workout at home:

  • dumbbells - 4 sets of 10 - 7 routines
  • planks (full and alternating)
  • push ups
  • triceps dips
  • side dips with dumbbell
  • abs-5 routines
  • bridge (for glutes)
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • squats
  • lunges w/dumbbells
  • thigh master
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/strawberries/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  post workout:  2 oatcakes w/pb
  • L:  2 toasted multigrain bread w/liver pate, plain greek yogurt w/raspberries
  • S:  clementine
  • D:  the rest of the tofu/chickpea/veg curry & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  V8, clementine
  • Teas & water
TOTAL:  1487

Progress as of today: 35.4 lbs lost so far, only 3.6 lbs to go!

Today I am grateful for my two sons, the youngest of whom will turn 39 tomorrow.

The ONE spin bike at the gym has broken down. It's been rattling for a month and we knew this would happen.    The ones for spin class are in another building and can't be used unless in a class.

Workout at gym:

  • 30 mins treadmill - 5.5 - 5.8 kph at an incline of 7-10%
  • 20 mins elliptical
  • 4 sets of 10 on 6 resistance machines
  • cables/pulley for triceps
  • back lifts on half ball

Workout at home (after lunch has digested):

  • dumbbells - 4 sets of 10 - 7 routines
  • planks (full and alternating)
  • push ups
  • triceps dips
  • side dips with dumbbell
  • abs-5 routines
  • bridge (for glutes)
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • squats
  • lunges w/dumbbells
  • thigh master
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/strawberries/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  post workout: 2 oatcakes w/pb (my stomach knows it's getting this after workout and it starts to rumble around the time I do my stretching)
  • L:  grilled cheese on multigrain
  • S:  clementine and taste test of one of the oatmeal raisin cookies I'm baking for guests tomorrow
  • D:  tofu/chickpea/veg curry & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  plain greek yogurt & strawberries
  • Teas & water
TOTAL:  1499

Progress as of today: 35.4 lbs lost so far, only 3.6 lbs to go!

liza36 on 08/31/2012:
How long does your workout at home take? I'm sure I've asked you before, but just can't remember. It looks good. I was actually thinking about doing a similar thing and trying to get some sort of workout done at home. I'm still a member of the gym near my house, but I've lacked the motivation to get there recently. I can easily do some strength moves at home. Something to consider.

Have a great weekend.

Maria7 on 08/31/2012:
And you look so young (to have a son that age) ! :-)

V on 08/31/2012:
Oh NO! I hope they replace the bike soon Annie :( and happy birthday to your son! RYC nope never bored from my classes since I keep it moving forward and challenge myself while getting stronger :) What a rush! have a great weekend <3

Stay safe those in the path of Isaac!

Today I am grateful that I've been able to see so much of the world and that it opened my eyes.

Sunny today!  Not anything like yesterday.  Pouring rain, thunder, lightning, hail.

Ok, I'm obviously not getting enough fuel with the intense workouts as shown by my 'binge' yesterday. I was HUNGRY. Today I'm keeping it around 1300 because I had a lot of cals yesterday and will have a lot on Saturday with company coming.

Otherwise the plan I'll try is 1500 on my  heavy workout days, 1400 on spin bike day, 1300 on rest days, and one day a week of about 1700.

Workout:
  • 30 mins spin bike class
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  pbj sandwich on multigrain (after spin class and before grocery shopping - I never shop when hungry!)
  • S:  2 clementines
  • D:  curry & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  plain greek yogurt w/strawberries
  • Teas & water
TOTAL:  1315

Progress as of today: 35.4 lbs lost so far, only 3.6 lbs to go!

legcramps on 08/30/2012:
I would just listen to your body on any given day. If it's telling you it's hungry, feed it. You may not have to worry about unsuspected binges if your body isn't sending out hunger signs!
