Hey girls and boys,

Sorry I've not been around this week but I have been busy and not been on the computer as much as usual. I have tried to be good, but still keep slipping up in the evenings. I havent put any more on, but neither have I lost any so I am disappointed with myself. I am determined to do better this week and stop letting myself down.

I am feeling a bit sorry for myself today as I have had a bit of a hangover today. I have not had any alcohol for weeks so I think it hit me harder when I was out on a night with the girls last night. I didnt get in until 4.15am (how naughty of me!!). I am seriously thinking of going teetotal. I dont particularly enjoy drinking alcohol and I can enjoy a night out without it. It seems to be my friends who think I should drink. They are always telling me to let my hair down!!!!

There are 9 weeks left before Christmas and if I put my mind to it, and stop messing around, I can still get into the 150s before then by losing less than a pound each week. That's completely doable, isnt it??? I hope I can. Anyway I am going now, to read some diaries before going back to bed (to fully recover from the hangover!!!!). Be in touch with you all soon. I just followed the link in one of nsa's posts and did the quiz and guess what, I am twisted!!!! I always knew it but now its confirmed LOL

Had a good day today, people. Calories 1507, Exercise 40 minutes on the treadmill. Did two miles in 30mins13secs, then carried on at same speed until I reached 35mins. Used another five minutes to slow down and chill before finishing off with some stretches. Hubby bought me a nice silver and amber ring today, to go with an amber pendant he bought me recently. I was really looking for earrings but couldnt find just what I was looking for.

Here's hoping we all have a happy and healthy weekend :o)

Oh, I can't believe you are evil! Especially when I got "Angelic" and I didn't even cheat! I have been wanting silver an amber jewelry ever since I saw a ring my friend had. How nice Husband got you these things! Thanks for the comments on daughter situation. It's nice to have other Moms to keep me on even keel. Sometimes it's hard to tell if I've gone off the side of the baot on subject of child.....have a great weekend.

Hi DD friends, old and new. I have been having a bit of a dark time recently, for what reason I dont know, but its probably menopause related, if the night sweats are anything to go by.

I have totally lost my motivation, I cant believe it!! Since the last time I weighed I have gained 4 lbs but I will bite the bullet and put it up as my new weight. I have been doing well all day at work, sticking to my usual calories and feeling good, but then I have binged every night. Also, when I am makng a sandwich for any of the family, I nibble on the fillings as I am making them. It was this sort of behaviour that made me reach 227 lbs in the first place !!!

Anyway, enough is enough !!! Today I have bought a little black dress. Not too fancy, but pretty smart and just a little too tight for my liking. I reckon that a 10 lbs loss would make it a perfect fit. I am determined that by the time that we are getting around to our Christmas get togethers at work, I will be wearing said dress. I am sick and tired of feeling sorry for myself, and I'm going to do something about it now before I end up putting all the weight back on. It is just after 7pm here, and so far today I have eaten 1338 calories. I did 40 minutes on the treadmill, earlier. Managed two miles in first 32 minutes and then spent the rest of the time slowing down. Not a bad day so far. If I get too hungry before I go to bed I will eat an apple or pear. Wish me luck girls (and boys). I'm Back!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited to see that you started where I am, and that you have managed to lose the weight! That's an accomplishment. 17.5 lbs doesn't look so bad from here! That's totally manageable, and it sounds like you have good habits still. Calorie counting and exercising is a smart way to go. :)

Good job noticing that you need to kick it in gear. I wish I would have done that 3 years ago! :)

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling so hot. I think it's quite common when people go about losing in a healthy, systematic way to hit these points. Some people can just fly on by, it seems. Just do your best--you're already getting on the treadmill--that's great!

Hang in there--and keep going--don't give up on yourself!

ps I just came back and read what I wrote--you HAVE been feeling hot: night sweats--duuuh *pops self in forehead* but you know what I meant I think:-)

Hey everybody,

I'm so sorry I've not be updating this week but I'ts been so busy at work that I have been absolutely exhausted. This week is the first proper week of term, and although fresher week was quiet in the library, this week it has been like a madhouse. I am working more hours again and am on my feet for hours on end. Also with my niece having the baby too made it that little bit busier. I know its excuses but I was too tired at night to update.

I am having a poor week healthwise too. I have been going over on the calories, not enough to scare me, but certainly enough to cancel out any weightloss. Also I have been too tired to get out any of my exercise machines. On the one day I felt up to exercise I had to take the dog to the vets for her innoculations. At work one of our bosses was leaving on Friday so we went out for a drink with her on Wednesday lunchtime, and on Friday she brought in lots of goodies for us to eat at lunchtime, sweeties, biscuits, cakes etc. They were impossible to resist !!!!!!! Just to top everything off, as I was getting dressed after my shower this morning I bent down to pull up my tights (pantyhose) and my back just locked !! I couldnt stand up without pain. And it has been niggling me all day. I was sensible and stayed off the treadmill even though I had been planning on a long session but now I am fed up about it.

I am determined to get back to my healthier lifestyle from now on until Christmas. I want to feel the very best I can by then.

I'm sorry I havent kept up with all your news, and views. I will catch up over the weekend. I am seeing the new baby again tomorrow. She is doing very well so far :o). Be in touch again soon, Anne :o)

I hope your back feels better very soon! It is so frustrating to get hurt and be sidelined! You and I are at the same weight! If you want, we can try a different kind of support system for our Christmas holiday time. I'm going to post a message on the forums section.

I am pleased to present our newest family member to you. Here is Yasmine Faye, age two days. She is absolutely beautiful.The pictures are, me with baby, my daughter with baby, and Yasmin all by herself. I'm sorry if the picture is a little wide but I was greedy and wanted to show all three. I'm sorry Ive not read your diaries tonight, but it's been a long day and this is the first chance I have had to sit down. I couldnt resist putting the photo up tho'. It's a wonderful day, today :0) !!!!!

My niece has given birth to a beautiful baby girl, at 6.35 pm. She weighs 7lb 12 ozs and is to be called Yasmine Faye, and apparently has lots of dark hair. I am thrilled to bits and cannot wait to see her. It will probably Tuesday when I get to see her, and it cant come quick enough !!!

On the health front I have had another good day. I have kept my calories below 1500, and walked for an hour with my husband and the dog. I did some jogging for a few hundred yards, while my husband strolled. He cant exert himself too much, as he suffers with severe asthma. I would have done more formal walking on the treadmill but Sarah was using the kitchen table to do her college assignments and I didnt like to move her to get the machine out so I settled for the dog walk.

I am sooo HAPPY :O)

walking outside is so much better than the treadmill any day!!! I love being in the sunshine! Today, the weather was like summer all over again! I probably got some color as well! :)

I really like the name Yasmine Faye. I think the two go together really nicely!!! Maybe you'll post a picture?

Congratulations!!! I'm happy for your family :-) That dark hair may not stay dark. My daughter had almost jet black hair when she was a baby. Now she is almost dark blonde.

Hi fellow DDers. Hope you are all having a good week. I am feeling very positive today, which is surprising as I have not had such a good week. Firstly I was slightly derailed by eating birthday goodies at the start of the week, then I had a couple of days off work with a throat infection, which spoiled my exercise regime. i did get some in on the gravity strider machine thing that I have but its not the same as getting on the old treadmill. Also, because my normal routine was disrupted, I didnt drink enough water for 2 or 3 days and that led to some water retention problems. I'm working on that now.

Today I got back on track. Calories slightly over 1500. Water 2 litres. Exercise, 50 mins on treadmill 2 x 15 minute miles, plus one 20 min mile. I really enjoyed it. Followed it up with stretching exercises. Feel on top of the world now!!! Having a well deserved few minutes with my feet up in front of the laptop. Have a good weekend folks and I'll be in touch again soon :o)

wow...your times for the mile are wonderful! :)

I was reading online about people that train to walk marathons and the article advised that a time of a 15 minute mile is the fastest pace people should train with!!! you go! Then, the article said to just work on endurance for a long time!!! This isn't something i'm thinking about doing now because i'm still working on endurance (not even my mile pace just yet!). If i can never run, i guess i could walk a marathon?! or, hmmm, we'll see!

OMG I have just updated my age to 53. It only seems like yesterday that I was celebrating (??) my 50th birthday. I was depressed at the time. I dislike the bithdays that take you into another decade!!!

Anyway folks, I have made some comments tonight but there have been so many posts made since last time I did it, that I know I havent got round to everyone. I'm sorry if Ive missed you out and I will try to be better about it in future. Also thanks to the faithful, who always make time to comment and support people. You have no idea how much I depend on you all!!!

Not had such a good day today. calorie-wise it was fine but I have had a sore throat which led to a disturbed night last night, so I was like a zombie this morning and phoned in work sick. Happily I feel much better tonight than I have done for last few days, so I may be back in work tomorrow.

I didnt mention yesterday that my hubby bought me a rock tumbler for my birthday (at my request :o)). I really like semi-precious stones and thought I might try making basic jewellery. The rock tumbler is brilliant but NOISY! You have to have it on for days at a time too, so at the moment I have it going in the cupboard under the stairs (a bit like Harry Potter!!) in an effort to eradicate some of the din it is making. My son says it is soothing him to sleep but I have my doubts about that !! Will keep you up to date on the progress (up to and including when I throw it through the window for keeping me awake!!)

I am feeling better about my dehydrator, that constant hum is irritating for me...imagine what I would do with your rock tumbler, toss it out the window, lol.

I would say that spinach is the least bitter of all the greens, I am finding that all greens go well with the fruit, it tones down the sweetness of the fruits and takes away the bitterness of the greens. They balance each other out and I would definitely would recommend spinach. Try it, you'll love it. I suggest using a banana and another fruit, the banana seems to mellow it out and make it creamy.

Hope your troat gets better soon. Happy Belated. I am right behind you - 53 October 24th!! The Rock Tumbler sounds very cool. My duaghter and I tried making jewlery last year we kind of got out of the practice, but it was loads of fun. There is so much neat stuff out there to use. Lots of inexpensive (and expensive, too) on the net.

A rock tumbler!! Is that one of those things that polishes stones? It was my dream to have one of those when I was a child. I saw an advertisement for a children's version of one once and ever since then I dreamed of polishing stones all day long, haha!

Oh yeah, and happy birthday! I agree, you must eat chocolate on your birthday! For me, it's chocolate cake. In my family, a birthday is just not a birthday without chocolate cake!

Anyway, thanks for the comment you left me. I am very pleased to see you also doing so well. Loved the comparison pictures you posted the other day. I should get around to doing that too. Though the difference wouldn't be anywhere near as striking! You look fabulous!

Hey everyone this is just a hit and run update as I am on my way out for a drink with hubby. New weight. I have lost one and a half pound since the 23rd of last month but I am pleased with that. My new target is to reach the 150s by Christmas. I know that I only need to drop 4 pound to achieve that but I am determined to do it in a slow and dignified manner. I will not go hungry. I will eat lots of stuff that is good for me. I will exercise for 30mins at least 5 times a week. I promise you this, ladies !!!!

Got lots of nice cards and pressies for my birthday. My living room looks like a flower shop !!! Got three bunches of flowers and an azalea plant !!!! Looks very pretty. Lots of other stuff too. By the way I have eaten all the naughty stuff today and really enjoyed it. Lots of choccies at work but, lets face it, if you cant eat chocs on your birthday, when can you eat 'em ??? Will be back on track tomorrow, and I will be back to making comments on your diaries Too. Thanks for your good wishes. Have a great day, friends :o)

Just thought I would cobble together a picture from my birthday celebration last year, with a recent photo in celebration of my birthday this year. I hope you can see the difference. I know it is difficult to compare them as one is of me sitting down and in the other I am standing. I always used to avoid full length shots last year as I hated to see myself, especially any showing my hips and bum!!!! I will update my weight tomorrow on my birthday, and then I am not going to weigh until halloween. Have a great day ladies (and any gentlemen , of course)
