Exercise for today 70 mins

Total exercise for June 15hrs 30 mins

Just a quick update today. Calories just over 1500. Exercise 35 minutes on the gravity strider and a brisk walk outside. Mapmrun.com clocks it at 1.99 miles and it took us 35 minutes.

Progress as of today: 61.5 lbs lost so far, only 15.5 lbs to go!

halley on 06/30/2007:
You obvisouly know how to lose weight - so just keep ding it. Don't let a slow down get you down. The gravity strider will be a great way to get in more exercise.

maria777 on 06/30/2007:
Our prayers are with you over there in England, Greengirl. I've still been watching the news over here in USA concerning England. Take care.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/02/2007:
we got the same exercise minutes! Go Green! Go Green!

harleygirl79 on 07/02/2007:
You did good this weekend. I didn't accomplish any exercise except walking around an amusement park. Have a great day!

hollybelle on 07/03/2007:
Hey there Greengirl! Just checking in with you. I'm back on after bit of an absence. Thought of you and McWoo when saw the new of the thwarted terror attacks! What a blessing to have them foiled! Yay for England!

It looks like you have done wonderfully the last couple of weeks. You are right the exercise does add up quickly - just a few minutes a day counts! Congratulations on the lottery winning!

Exercise for today 30 mins

Total exercise for June 14hrs 20 mins

I cant believe how the exercise totals up so quickly. I am pleased with how much organised exercise I have done this month although my totals look a bit small in comparison with some of the others!! I have had an incredible bit of luck today so I am in a great mood. I won some money in a lottery for the local hospice, that I take part in every week. I am going to treat hubby and the kids and have a bit of extra spending money for my hols. I have got the gravity strider machine out at the moment so my exercise total might get higher yet for today but I will just add it to tomorrows total. My calories for today are slightly higher than I like. Nearer to 1700 than 1400, but I can handle that now and again. I think I will stop weighing weekly again. When you are only half a pound down it can get a bit disheartening. I will weigh on the 10th July before I go away on holiday and then once a month I think. Here's hoping you all have a great weekend :o)

Hey Maria I just saw your comment about London. Yes it is scary. It looks like the start of another campaign of terrorism but at least it was averted yesterday. We are living in a terrible world. Lets hope that nothing worse happens. We have all seen it before!!

Progress as of today: 61.5 lbs lost so far, only 15.5 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/29/2007:
what are you talking about...you have great exercise totals...if i were working right now, i could never fit in the amount i've been doing! good balance for you! I also like adding up the total...I'm glad we are doing this for June. Maybe we should do it for July also!

Total exercise for June 13hrs 50 mins

Good evening all. Nothing much to write tonight. Calories similar to yesterday and forty minutes on the treadmill. I managed to do two miles in 29mins40secs which clips a few seconds off my recent times. Spent the following ten minutes slowing down. I really enjoy the treadmill even when I have been working hard all day. Will keep in touch. Have a great day folks ;O)

Hi everyone, I thought I would try and catch up with some diaries tonight, even though not much is happening to me, myself. All I have to report is that my cals for today have been 1420, which is pretty good. I didnt exercise even though I really wanted to, because my hubby took me shopping for new clothes (YAY!!). I really needed new summer stuff. All last years gear is too big and I am going away in a couple of weeks and really need the stuff. Got everything I wanted except some smart pants. I told you before that i am between sizes. I either have to get them comfortable on hips, but big on waist, or to fit waist and tight on hips!!! I will check back in tomorrow night. Hopefully by then I will have got round to doing some proper exercise :O)

Progress as of today: 61.5 lbs lost so far, only 15.5 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/27/2007:
everyone has a hard time finding pants!!! ohh, especially Jeans! its amazing that manufacturers just cant get it right! haha

harleygirl79 on 06/28/2007:
I know what you mean about being in between. I have noticed that certain brands fit smaller, and Harley clothes, I have to go up a size. Glad you were able to get a new wardrobe. Way to go!

I've only just got in the house (it's 9.30 in the evening here) so this will be very rushed. No exercise to report as I had to go to a meeting at one of the colleges Sarah has applied to, and I have gone over on my cals too, as they provided a buffet and I didnt resist for once.

I managed to revive my bathroom scales and I have gone down by half a pound this week. It's not much, and I have been good this week but I'm not too disappointed. At least I am still going in the right direction, even if it is at a slow speed. Funnily enough all my jeans are getting baggy so I think I am forming some real muscle on my bottom and legs!!!

I ran into the parents of an old school friend of Sarah's and they were impressed by my weightloss, and very vocal about it, which cheered me up a lot after the adverse reactions I have been getting lately.

Thank you so much to the people who left comments yesterday. It made me feel a lot better and dont worry, I wont be giving up. I am more determined than ever to reach a healthy weight for my height. I dont care if it takes me another year and I only lose a couple of pounds a month, I WILL reach my target weight. I will be back on the treadmill tomorrow. I do miss it if, like today, I cant manage to fit it in.

Hope you all have a great day tomorrow. Will catch up with diaries tomorrow night :o)

Congrats on another half pound!

I'm so sick of people bringing us down when we don't fit their idea of who we are anymore, when we try to change. For whatever reason. If life is about nothing else, it's about change.

But really, this is YOUR journey and no one is allowed to rain on you on your way to health, fitness and continued happiness!

You keep up the good work Greengirl!

Hello fellow DDers

I am feeling like it's hard to stay motivated at the moment. I can't help feeling that my friends at work and closer to home have now 'got over' my weightloss so far and now seem to think I've done enough. It really doesnt spur you on to greater efforts. My sister is fantastic in keeping me going but I only get to see her once a week. Just recently I have been having adverse reactions from people.

One that particularly upset me was from a lady who I have been friendly with for about 30 years. She was a schoolfriend of my husbands but I met her before we (me and hubby) got together. We ran into her and her hubby whilst shopping last week. She was amazed at what I'd lost as I havent seen her for a while and she has been preoccupied by more serious matters (she is recovering from breast cancer). Suddenly, after saying how well I was doing, she said that I shouldnt lose anymore weight as it was already showing on my face and I would look gaunt if I lost any more. I smiled and tried to be non-committal but I had to bite my tongue to stop being rude. I felt like saying I'd rather be a little gaunt and wrinkly than having a heart attack!!! Wouldnt you think that, having had a close brush with death herself, that she would realise there is more at stake than cosmetic issues. Perhaps I am being unkind.

My second upsetting incident was with a woman at work who is one of my closest colleagues. We have been friends for years, socialised and been away on trips together, and she had been very supportive so far, in a passive sort of way. Last week I had worn a fitted black top to work and one of the girls had suddenly drawn everyone's attention to how much thinner I was looking. My 'friend' suddenly says "yes, she's losing it and I'm putting it on!!" then starts going on about me having lost enough now. I said I'd like to lose another 20lbs and she just went mad. In the end we had quite a confrontation. I wouldnt mind so much but, as I pointed out to her, she is a couple of inches taller than me and only weighs 140lbs. I asked her why I wasnt allowed to weigh a similar amount and she said I was the wrong shape to carry it off, and she was small boned!!!! I think she seriously believes it too. Out superviser's face was a picture. He was backing away with his hands in the air, saying he wasnt getting involved (laughing!!). I have to say that everyone else thought she was being daft!!

I feel better for having got that off my chest, but it has left me feeling a bit apathetic. I havent let it distract me from counting the cals yet but sometimes I wonder why I am bothering!

I am going to buy a new battery for my scales tomorrow in an effort to resurrect them for my weigh-in. If I dont update tomorrow you will know that they are still dead!! Have a great day people.

Progress as of today: 61 lbs lost so far, only 16 lbs to go!

halley on 06/25/2007:
Wow - why would someone be so ugly to you? I guess people have an order of things and they don't like getting passed. You know - I'm faster than Mike, but slower than Susie, so if Mike starts to pass me it upsets me. - That kind of thing. Don't let it bother you, keep going down the path. We all hear those comments from time to time about how we don't have any more weight to lose and we should quit trying. Shake it off!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/25/2007:
i think that people are just plain jealous of you. i can understand you wanting to still loose a little more weight...as long as you do it healthfully, of course. don't let these people get to you...i suggest you just try to brush it off...don't take it personally. it's human nature for people to act that way.

Donkey on 06/25/2007:
You came to the right place with your reaction stories.

Your first friend, I truly believe, was trying to be supportive and encouraging, and it just came out wrong. Perhaps she has no idea how hard it is to lose weight (without being sick). Unfortunately, her words had the opposite effect; I wouldn't hold it against her (for now). I don't think you are being unkind either; you are sticking up for yourself.

My exercise buddy would agree with your friend; she is rail thin (she's a runner) and is quite upfront about how being thin makes you look older and can leave you with extra skin, both of which she readily admits apply to herself as well. But she is the envy of many women with her thinness. We all look older eventually, but we can't all be thinner eventually. And that's where the real prize comes. YOU STICK WITH IT!!! YOU HEAR ME??? DON'T GIVE UP!!!

Your second friend seems to dealing with issues of her own, if her reaction was that strong. Your boss -- poor man didn't know what he was stepping into - ha ha!!! If this had happened to me, I might try to forgive and forget, and try again (after some time has passed) to have a non-weight related conversation with her, and see how it goes. However, you may have to face the possibility that hers will be a "friendship" that won't survive the weight loss. And that's not to knock down YOUR efforts. That is because your "friend" can't handle the new you. Honestly, that happens and I don't know why it does, but it does. Hopefully that won't be the case here, but just so you are forewarned and prepared.

Anytime you are having a problem with people's reactions or feeling unmotivated because of what people say, you come to Donkey. Donkey has been pulled down too many times to count, but she keeps getting right back up and trying her best. (That is because she is as stubborn as a mule and refuses to give up!)

harleygirl79 on 06/26/2007:
I know what you mean about the "you've lost enough now". I just smile and say thank you, as I realize they are just jealous. Good for you that you stuck up for yourself. I was always told when your discussing something with someone, the first one who loses their temper, loses the argument. It keeps me in control most times. Hang in there!

Hi everyone, I know I have not been around for a few days, and I havent quite managed to comment on all the diaries written since last time I was on here. There were so many. I have read them all but I couldnt think of what to advise people, so I apologise in advance for any I missed out. Sometimes everything has been said already by the time you read a diary. I really admire the diarists who return day after day with sound advice and support.

It's been a strange week this week. We are not as busy at work, and I work less hours during the summer but I seem to be tired all the time. I know it is not my thyroid getting any worse. I have only had it tested recently and the medication I am on is enough. I am having a nap when I get home from work, and then being distracted from doing my exercise. I missed out on Thursday and Friday but I really enjoyed what I did today.

A couple of things happened this week which have upset the applecart!! The first one was on Thursday night when my son managed to kill my bathroom scales!!!!! He has a shower and drowns the bathroom even if I put a towel on the floor for him to step on. He seems incapable of drying himself before stepping out of the shower. Anyway on thursday he managed to shortcircuit my scales. They went very strange and weird stuff was flashing up on the digital display before they died altogether. I am still hoping that they will be reincarnated when they dry out internally. I will try them again on Tuesday. If they do not work I think I will leave it a couple of weeks before replacing them, as I am again becoming obsessed by what they reveal.

The second annoying thing was that when I got up on friday morning my fingers felt puffy again, so I'm thinking the water retention is back.I have a small diamond ring that had just started to fit right after a long time being too small, and it wouldnt go on my finger again. At least with the scales being out of commission I didnt have to face a higher number on the scales. That would have been really irritating. I am trying to drink plenty of water again, hoping it will help. It worked last time.

Today has been a good day . I have kept my calories below 1400 and I exercised on the treadmill for an hour. I managed 3 miles (4.83km) in 45 minutes and 13 seconds and then carried on , gradually slowing down until 60 minutes were reached. My final distance was 6.12 kms (thats about 3.8 miles). i was quite pleased. I must have used nearly 400 cals altogether.

I hope we all have a good week this week. I'll be back soon :o)

Progress as of today: 61 lbs lost so far, only 16 lbs to go!

maria777 on 06/23/2007:
Thank you for your comment to my entry, GreenGirl...as for the scale...yes, it IS very easy to get addicted to weighing on them....I've done that before...I don't see anything wrong with an early morning weigh...but when it becomes nite-time weighs and other weighs...that's too much, I think! Hope your scale is okay, though and that you don't have to invest in another one! You ALWAYS do so well in staying under your 1400 cals...Congratulations to you on your continued progress! YAAAAA!!! Have a happy afternoon!

hollybelle on 06/23/2007:
Just checking in with you. Thanks for the kind words on my diary. Sorry about yur water retention and your scales! Kids! I actually have not been worrying about daughter. There is a website that posts an extensive newsletter and lots of pictures each day and she has been on there quite a bit! I do wish she would call before we leave for North Carolina romorrow, though just to check in a minute. Noticed you have lost more weight - YAY! You are hanging in quite nicely! Great job on your exercise! I hope to add quite a lot to my total in the next 4 days as we plan to hike and bike (no rhyme intended LOL)! Of course I always like to check out the local restaurants, but I'll try to keep it wise. Take care, sweetie!

Exercise for today 35 minutes

Total exercise for June 11 hours

Good evening everyone, Its warm and sultry here in England where I am, but severe storms are forecast for tonight so it may be cooler later. I thought I better come online early in case the weather affects my internet. The cable has been known to go off in storms.

Well it was weigh-in today and I am down two and a half pounds, but I suspect the biggest part of that is water weight. As you know last week I had swollen fingers and ankles, with water retention, and they went down a few days ago. The trouble is that it can come back just as quickly as it goes. I upped my water intake in the last week, and I think that may be what did the trick. I have had a good day today, calories so far just below 1400, and I did two miles in 31 minutes on the treadmill.

At least the drop in weight has given me a good start to my trying to lose 6 lbs in 4 weeks challenge to myself. I have just three weeks now to the first of my mini holidays, 5 days in Abersoch. I hope the weather is good then. I havent got a lot of time tonight, and I feel a little dull and stupid!!! Maybe its the atmospheric conditions (or maybe I AM just dull and stupid!!) . The result is , I havent made many comments on diaries, and I may be babbling on the ones I have made. Oh well, I will catch up with everyone later in the week. Be strong ladies, and gents :o)

Progress as of today: 61 lbs lost so far, only 16 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/19/2007:
you can definitely reach your goal!!! I have the same kind of goal as you! Let's motivate each other! also, congrats on the weight loss! whenever i loose a big amount like i did yesterday, it motivates me to keep on target...and not stray TOO much! (I strayed a little today...)

Donkey on 06/20/2007:
I'm coming up to the UK in about 2 weeks. I thought the weather was cooler there than it is in the States. Must stay away from the fish and chips!

Congrats on the weight loss! You are so close to both your mini goal and your big goal! Keep up the water intake (especially when its extremely hot out!) along with your normal food and exercise and you'll see those additional pounds drop off in no time.

And no, you aren't dull and stupid!! I think you're exciting and brilliant! :o)

harleygirl79 on 06/21/2007:
Good job on the 2 lbs. The upping the water does help and upping the protein. Hope you enjoy your holiday. Not sure where it is your going, but hopefully its fun.

Exercise for today 50 minutes

Total exercise for June 10 hours 25 mins

Hi fellow DDers

I have had a goodish day today. My cals were up to 1550ish but not all of them were good cals. I was back into the hubbys chocolates and then had to cut back on good food to keep the cals down. The chocolates are now finished, thank goodness!!! By the way , I wasnt the one who bought them for him (i was just the one who ate them for him!!!). They were a part of his eldest daughters present for Fathers Day.

On the exercise front I spent 50 minutes on my gravity strider. It is supposed to tone up your leg muscles. The counter shows that it burns quite a few calories but I never know how accurate those meters are so I dont rely on it. Its gotta help though. To be quite honest, I feel I have a better work out on the treadmill, but when I got home from work today hubby had gone to a cousins funeral, and I was too tired to struggle with getting the treadmill out so I settled for the smaller machine. Normally hubby sorts that out for me.

It is quite peaceful at work at the moment. The undergraduates are now gone for the summer, and we have shelved all the books they brought back and we are in the summer hiatus. Trouble is, you get out of the working mindset and then come September when they return its a struggle to get back up to speed !!

Tomorrow is my weekly weigh-in day. After the water weight situation last week I am hoping to have gone down , but now I have had the Fathers Day Chocolate Debacle !!! Why do I keep sabotaging my efforts like this??? I think it must be the long term aspect of my regime. It will be a year in August since I started this healthier lifestyle, and at first I had no problems keeping to it, but now I find myself giving in to my baser desires on a regular basis. Bad, bad Greengirl!! I have nothing but admiration for you long-termers who are maintaining to the best of your ability. Feel free to give me some abuse when you see me giving in!!!

I will check in and update my stats tomorrow. Catch up with you all then :o)

Progress as of today: 58.5 lbs lost so far, only 18.5 lbs to go!

biscottibody59 on 06/18/2007:
Now you can get down to it post-chocolate fest! Yeah, I'm not too sure about the calories burned on my two contraptions. I see it as something to go by more or less and just put in something consistently when I do Fitday.

Have a good one!

Hi everybody,

I'm sorry I have not been on for a few days but I have had a lot of stuff I needed to do, so I've not had much time. Up until an hour ago I had been extra good, keeping within 1400 cals per day. Half an hour ago I stuffed down nine chocolates (about 50 cals each) out of my hubby's Fathers Day chocolates !!! Naughty, naughty Greengirl!!! Now I feel sick and my tummy hurts. I had been having a good weekend too, as the weather had cooled down and I had lost the water weight!!!! The forecast for tomorrow is rainy but warm so I will not update my lower weight ,as the water might be back tomorrow. I will update it, if it's still lower on my normal weigh-in day, Tuesday.

I went on the treadmill on Friday and Saturday, but today I've not had time. I did 100 crunches when i got up this morning, but it only took a few minutes so I have not included it in my monthly exercise total.

I am going now, I'm sorry I've not been commenting but I have read all the diaries this weekend. When I have time tomorrow I will catch up with you all. Here's hoping we all have a great week :o)
