Exercise for today 35 mins

Total exercise for June 8hrs 10 minutes

Hello friends !!! :o)

I am in a good mood today. It has been much cooler today, making it easier to work comfortably. We dont have real exetreme hot weather here in England, but, because we arent used to it being warm, we never seem able to cope with it. For example, I dont know anyone who has air conditioning at home, and very few shops and public buildings have it either. Consequently we tend to suffer with the heat. It has been much cooler today, and rainy too, and now it is blustery too!!! At least it is helping my fingers to get back to normal (silver lining to every cloud!).

I have had a pretty good day, if I say so myself!! I have managed to keep the calories down to under 1400 and I did 35 minutes on the treadmill with the incline on too!! I am determined to lose 6lbs in the next four weeks, or make a serious attempt at it !! I would like some new trousers, besides my jeans (which I virtually live in). The problem is, I am a typical english pear shape so my waist is moderately small, but my hips are large. This means that the waist on trousers is always too big, if the hips are comfortable. It's not fair!!! i am ok with dresses and skirts , especially if they are flared. I just buy them to fit my waist. Nothing is ever simple is it. I will have to keep my eyes open for some before I go away on holiday. Anyway, enough of my whining. Have a great day ladies and keep up the hard work :o)

Progress as of today: 58.5 lbs lost so far, only 18.5 lbs to go!

hollybelle on 06/15/2007:
Hey - when you get your 4 week menus planned out will you send to me? I need to do that. I would do so much better, eating wise, budget wise and time management wise! Good going on the exercise. Have a wonderful trip and good luck to your daughter on her summer program. My d leaves Sunday for her 3 weeks at Summer college program. Sigh! I like your idea of 6 lbs in 4 weeks. I should set a goal like that - maybe....????? Probably. I'll think about that a bit. Have a wonderful weekend.

hollybelle on 06/15/2007:
P.S. I was just kidding about actually sending me the menus - but it was a thought! LOL

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/15/2007:
hi Greeny! you are getting great exercise minutes in this month! also, calories are looking superb. My mom has the same issue as you with pants...how frustrating! My waist is definitely not that tiny compared to the rest of me...i guess i'm more evened out...so this is an issue I have yet to face! keep up the good work!!!

maria777 on 06/15/2007:
No air conditioner? Wow...it must stay cool there in England most of the time.

I know you are looking forward to your vacation! That is nice! Hope you have a wonderful day today! Big Smile!

WorkingIt2 on 06/16/2007:
You and I have the same problem with clothes! Too big in the waist and too tight in the hips *sigh* lol what a pain! Glad to see you are still continuing on and holding the line! Go Greenie! Thank you for the compliment about my legs. I've always had nice shape to my legs, but they are mostly hidden by the extra padding, and now that they are coming back out...it is pretty exciting..I still have long way to go, but hey..nothing good is ever easy otherwise we wouldn't appreciate our hard work and effort!

I do loads of walking, loads of leg work. Calve raises, squats, lunges, leg-lifts..you name it, I do it. I even do leg exercises in the pool. The reason I started to focus on my legs SO much wasn't just to get the shape back out from under the fat lol. It is because the thighs are the biggest muscles of the body and the more you work them, the more calories you burn...the leaner you make your legs, the more eficient your workouts become. Even if you can't walk fast, walking is the best thing because it uses the big muscle group in your thighs, buttocks, calves, etc. That's why I do the leg stuff so much. The added bonus is that my legs are finally starting to see the sun LOL

Take care!

Hello everyone ;o)

No exercise minutes to log today. My daughter wanted to go shopping, just when I had put my training gear on, and because I feel sorry for her (pressure of exams etc) I decided that her need was greater than mine and went out with her. We bought a couple of nice tops for her for when we go away in July, and some sunglasses. We went out with no coats on, because it was very warm, and got caught in a heavy shower of rain. Just typical!!!

I have had a good day today calorie-wise and have been very active at work. The students have finished now but the library stays open all summer, for summer school students, post-graduates and any under-graduates whe are actually conscientious enough to do studying during the summer break. We are still getting plenty of books coming back but that will ease off and we get to do the summer tidying up, checking the books are in the right place on the shelves, and minor repairs, relabelling etc.

In July I am going away twice, both times to places in Wales. We are having five days in Abersoch (pretty little place on the coast of the Lleyn Peninsula) and then a week at a more resort based holiday on the North Wales coast. I am really looking forward to getting away from the hurlyburly of the workplace.

Because of this I have decided that I will be more organised and focussed for the next four weeks and really try to lose 6lbs in that time. I have decided to get right back to basics again. I am taking sweetpea's advice about drinking more water (I dont take much sodium as it is, so thats not really a problem) in an effort to lose the water I am retaining in my fingers and ankles. This has worked for me in the past and I have been getting a little slack about my water consumption recently. I am also going to write down four weeks menus in advance so I know exactly what I will be needing from the grocery shop, and dont have the problem of having to decide what I am eating, at short notice. In this way I hope to avoid making bad choices. I hope this will help with regaining my focus. I better go now as I am starting to waffle on a bit !!! Will catch up with you all tomorrow hopefully. Take care :o)

Progress as of today: 58.5 lbs lost so far, only 18.5 lbs to go!

starfish on 06/13/2007:
sounds like you have a good plan. I know you can do it :)

weightlossyoyo on 06/13/2007:
u will lose that 6 lbs with no prob. you have already came sooooo far :)

sweetpea1977 on 06/14/2007:
Aint nothing wrong with a little retail therapy for your dear daughter. :o)

Anyway, your plan sounds great to me. I think planning your meals in advance will do wonders for both your mind and body. It will be nice not having to think about what to cook up at the very last minute. If you think you are going to have a busy week in the next four weeks, try cooking up bunch of meals on the weekend before. That way, all you'll have to do is pull it straight out of the fridge/freezer and warm it up! You'll have a balanced meal and saved yourself a lot of time and energy!

mcwoo40 on 06/14/2007:
Hi Greenie!!just passing through.I'm jealous that you are goin' to Abersoch, will i fit in your suitcase??Maybe not.Hope your 'puffy' fingers and ankles have gone down,a little cooler now is'nt it.Bye 4 now,Julie

Hi everyone, Just a quick visit tonight as I've got stuff to do which I have been putting off!!! I wont have time to do more than glance at a few diaries so well done anyone who has had a good day and commiserations to anyone out there who is having a bit of a struggle!!!

I am in an upbeat mood which might surprise you when I tell you that I weighed one and a half pounds heavier on the scale this morning!!! To tell you the truth I was expecting it to be more. As I have been saying for a few days, I have been suffering with water retention in the heat, my fingers were feeling tight and puffy and my ankles were showing obvious swelling too. I was expecting at least 3lbs on the scale which would have put me back in the 170s and I would have been gutted, even if it only here on a temporary basis!! As it was I stayed under 169 so I didnt feel so bad :o). I will catch up with diaries soon.

By the way I have exercised on the gravity glider today, and if it gets a bit cooler tonight I will do crunches too. Keep up the good work everyone !!!

Progress as of today: 58.5 lbs lost so far, only 18.5 lbs to go!

biscottibody59 on 06/12/2007:
Great job on the race--sounds like it was quite emotional! As for the swelling--I'm sure it will pass.

Have a good one!

sweetpea1977 on 06/13/2007:
First off, congrats on the race. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos with us. It looks like you guys had a great day for walking (and running, way to go daughter!) and remembering those for whom the race was dedicated to.

Im sorry to hear about your swelling! Do you think that increasing your water consumption and watching your sodium intake may help alleviate it?

At any rate, please stay cool! Sounds like you guys are having one heck of a heat wave! :o)

hollybelle on 06/13/2007:
Good for you being upbeat despite a higher number on the scales. We do NOT live by that number - it's all in a day in the life. It will be down again soon. Working up a sweat (if you'll pardon the expression) on the glider will help. Later! Holly

exercise for today 10 minutes

Total exercise for June so far 6 hours 55 mins

I only managed 10 minutes of exercise today, I did some stepping first thing this morning when I got up and 50 crunches!!! It was my first day back at work after a week off on holiday so I was tired. I was tired too as I couldnt sleep last nighht as it was so warm. I woke up at 4am and couldnt get back to sleep, so I got up and did the exercise to kickstart my day. By the time I got home from work I was so tired I had a nap, and then got involved in helping hubby with his computer, so the opportunity for exercise got less. At least I stayed well within my calories today.

I am suffering with water retention this week, i'm dreading getting on the scales tomorrow. my fingers feel puffy, but at least my ankles have gone back down. Will catch up with you all tomorrow. By the way, thanks for all the supportive comments recently, people :o)

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

Hi everybody. I have had a fantastic day doing the race for life 5 km at Oldham today. I have uploaded a couple of photos. The one below with my list of who I was running for is for mcwoos benefit!! The one with this entry is after the race, my daughter and I with our finishing medals. The weather was perfect, I did it in just under fifty minutes and my daughter did it in a few minutes less. I went round the course at a brisk walk but when we got within 500mtres of the finish she decided to run the rest of the way, and left me behind!!! There were 2000 runners in our race (all women by the way) and the fastest ran the 5km in just over 22 minutes, not bad when you consider it is just over three miles. I had some family there to watch and a friend from work came as well. We all had a great time, and I will definately do it again. As it is on behalf of cancer research everyone had a back sign that gave you the chance to tell others why you were doing it, if it was in memory of someone or celebration of a survivor. It was very emotional reading why everyone was there.

I will update again tomorrow. Will catch up with diaries then

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

I am in a 100% better mood tonight than I was last night, mainly because BTC dropped by my diary to wish me good luck for the Race for Life tomorrow. I miss you BTC but I'm happy you are still out there, and hope you are well and happy too!!!

the weather forecast for tomorrow is not as settled as it has been this week but as long as it doesnt absolutely teem down I'm not bothered. I would prefer a little light rain to the heat to be quite honest. As regards exercise I havent done a stroke today, I'm saving myself for tomorrow. i will get my sister to take some photos and if there are any worth uploading I will show them to you!

I have stayed within my calories today, no problem and drank eight glasses of water so I'm back on track. Will talk to you all tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!!

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

mcwoo40 on 06/09/2007:
Hi,just thought i would log on before Joseph to wish you all the best for tomorrow.I hope it is a little cooler for you. They all went to Manchester today, went in the science mueseum and a library which has the oldest books??The time past very quick whilst they where gone, but managed to get a doze. They came in with some flowers and a key ring for me,which was nice i can't be that bad.I've been bad today AGAIN!!IT MUST STOP i won't bore you with any of that, you know the score with me!!Have fun tomorrow,I'll be thinking of you,Bye Julie

biscottibody59 on 06/09/2007:
Seems like someone filed a lawsuit here in the US relating to a "Cats" performance. I don't know if it was based on sheer embarrassment or injury.

I wish you all the best for your race--enjoy!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/09/2007:
i'm glad you got a message from BTC! It really is such a wonderful support system here...and i would say a great system of friends, too, even if its not the kind that we see face to face everyday! I never thought i'd be a person to have friends online...but i'd definitely consider the people on this site my friends!

i think its a great idea to rest before the race. i didn't exercise at all yesterday and had a tremendous amount of energy to life weights today.

good luck on your race!!! oh, and i'm sure some of the pictures will be worth uploading! i can't wait to see them!

weightlossyoyo on 06/09/2007:

Exercise for today 35 minutes

Total exercise for June 5 hours 55 minutes

Well I had a fantastic time at 'Cats' last night but I wish someone had warned us that the cats come into the audience. I had a very public and intimate confrontation with one of the 'cats' as he serenaded me, whilst staring into my eyes about 8 inches away from me. Our seats were in the front row of the stalls and at regular intervals the cast come out and confront the audience!! I had one of the closest and longest confrontations when one of the male cats came out to sing to me. Later, towards the end of the show he came and squeezed my hand too!! I had difficulty stopping myself from stroking his head. The costumes and make up were fabulous.

Today I started off well. I did my treadmill exercise, managing my daily two miles in 29mins 16 secs. I spent another five minutes slowing down. My problems started when I went out to meet the girls from work. I had 3 glasses of cider, and ordered a cheese and pickle sandwich, which didnt appear to be dreadfully fattening. After that we were splitting up as some had to go back to work. I went to the museum with one friend tho to have a coffee in the cafe there and then a walk around the exhibits. My real problems started when I got home. It was about 5.30pm and I was feeling peckish but I knew I only had a few hundred calories left so I sorted out the smallest baking potato I could find, and a tin of weightwatchers baked beans in tomato sauce, and a slice of low fat cheese 350cals maximum!! Unfotunately I was still feeling hungry and went on to eat about five custard cream biscuits (56cals each) and picked at various things in the fridge, a couple of almonds, walnut kernels etc. I must have gone well over my target. I think it was the alcohol that did it, made me lose all my inhibitions.

Tonight I started to read diaries, but I felt like such a fraud, trying to support other people when I am struggling to keep myself anywhere near target. In the end I stopped making comments!!! Just to add insult to injury I am suffering with a bit of water retention, and have been for a few days since the weather started to heat up. My fingers were so puffy that I had to revert to wearing my bigger wedding ring, that I have not been wearing for the last few weeks, because it had got so loose. Of course , this always makes it look bad on the scales. I hope I can get a proper grip on myself , before I do any damage. I will be in touch again tomorrow, goodnight :o)

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

weightlossyoyo on 06/08/2007:
You are doing great with the exercise! Keep it up and you will be at goal in no time, 17 lbs is all you have left!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/08/2007:
arg! feel better...keep drinking a ton of water, then maybe the bloat will go down!

borntocry on 06/09/2007:
Good luck with your Race for Life!!

hollybelle on 06/09/2007:
It would have heen tempting to stroke that Cat's head! Sounds like a wonderful time. Its such an entertaining show. My daughter's first solo dance was to the "Memories" song from that show.

Sounds like you had a bit of the munchies yesterday. I tend to overeat when I don't feel well in an effort to make myself feel better-never works, though. Lots of sodium in pickles and cheese. I think caffine (as in tea or coffee) may help with the water retention but mind you don't get too jittery. Caffine is a diuretic but not everyone tolerates high levels. Me included. Hope you feel better soon.

starfish on 06/09/2007:
Oh! I was cracking up about that male cat singing to you! That is so cute! Well, we all have days like that when we go a little crazy with the snacking. I'm sure you'll do better today :) good job with the exercise! Have a wonderful day.

Soon2BThin on 06/09/2007:
I am so envious! I always wanted to see "Cats". And your exercise is AWESOME!! I keep trying to go faster but still can't do 2 miles in less than 33 minutes! Maybe I need to push harder, lol. Don't you dare feel like a fraud, making comments here, no matter how badly you think you've done. We NEED your comments. I feel that way myself sometimes though. Good luck with the race and have some fun! Can't wait to hear all about it. Happy Sunday!

Exercise for today (so far) 35 minutes

Total exercise for June 5hrs 20 mins

I am updating early today, as I am off to the Opera House in Manchester tonight, with my sisters, to see 'Cats'. I'm really looking forward to it. I did my exercise early this morning. 35 minutes on the treadmill. No incline this morning and I managed to do 2 miles in a few seconds under 30 minutes. I may add to my exercise total later if I can find the time (but don't hold your breath).

Tomorrow I am going into town to have a lunchtime drink with the girls from work. It is officially the last day of term, and as some of us work Term Time Only, it is our last day of the year. I am TTO but I happen to be going to work extra hours in the summer. Only 25hrs a week, but that suits me for the summer!!

I will catch up with you all sometime tomorrow. I cant believe my week off work has flown by so quickly. Take care and keep up the good work :o)

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

Donkey on 06/07/2007:
Oh have fun tonight! Good for you for getting your exercise in early. I have to start doing that, now that the kids are going to be out of school. Ergh, I am not an early exerciser any more! Enjoy your lunchtime drink tomorrow!

Exercise for today 90 minutes

Total exercise for June 4 hrs 45 minutes

hi everyone, I've only got time to hit and run tonight. But I will catch up with everyone's news tomorrow morning and make some comments, I hope. This morning I managed to do 100 crunches, 5 minutes of rapid stepping on my step!, and I did 40 minutes on the treadmill. I was a little slower today as I whacked up the incline. I managed two miles in 33 minutes then put it back flat to do my cool down. After that I walked to the shops with hubby, and then lazed about all the rest of the day until Sarah came home from school. After she had something to eat, she wanted to take the dog for a walk, before settling down to some exam revision. We walked just over 2 miles (according to mapmyrun.com) but it took us a leisurely 45 minutes. Not too bad considering it was evening, and the end of a long day for both of us (up at 6am). I am going to clock my exercise as 90 minutes. Nice to see Scruffy back !! Catch up with you all tomorrow, Bye :o)

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

mcwoo40 on 06/06/2007:
