Hey everybody,

Nothing much to report today

Cals about 1550, very heavy physical day at work, and 40 mins on the treadmill tonight. Very similar treadmill times to last night.

Progress as of today: 57.5 lbs lost so far, only 19.5 lbs to go!

maria777 on 05/24/2007:
Wow...40 mins on the treadmill...that is a LOT...I may try walking on mine tonite, also...Hope you have a wonderful evening...Calories look good, too!

weightlossyoyo on 05/24/2007:
Good going on the calories and exercise!

maria777 on 05/24/2007:
Was just thinking about ya...it is late...thought I'd just say hope you have a good evening...you sure do deserve it, working your job and staying so consistant with your calories and exercise!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/24/2007:
it seems we're all busy...lol, just enough time to write down the basics! it's great we both got exercise in!

sweetpea1977 on 05/25/2007:
Sounds like you had a busy, but productive day. Be sure to get some relaxation in over the weekend. You deserve it! :o)

hollybelle on 05/25/2007:
Very good day, Girl! Get some rest and relaxation this weekend but keep on doing what you are doing.

You know, I love you folks in DDland!! You are so supportive and are always there whether I've had a good day or a bad day. Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your support!!!

As it happens, today has been a GOOD day!! YAYYY!!!!!

Calories were good today, about 1450. I went on the treadmill when I got home from work. Actually I had a snack, and a cuppa and read my newspaper first, then I went on the treadmill!!! I did two miles in just under 32 minutes, and then I carried on for another 15 minutes, but actually spent the last 5 of those slowing down, did just over two and a half miles all told. I really was in the mood for it, too. Now that I am three quarters of the way to my proper target, I'm not going to set any more smaller targets, I'm aiming at the real thing. I'm hoping to reach it, realistically, before my birthday in mid-September, and then reassess it. I would never have got this far without your help, people!!

The workload is finally starting to slow down at work, which is a massive relief. The student are half way through their exams, some of them are already finished and everything is just a bit less frantic. Cant wait until weekend. Its a three day weekend, which is always a good thing!!

Hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow. Fight the good fight ladies (and any gents, too!!)

Progress as of today: 57.5 lbs lost so far, only 19.5 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/23/2007:
great on exercise and calories!

weightlossyoyo on 05/23/2007:
Very good goal! You did execellent on the miles and calories today! Keep up the good work!

sweetpea1977 on 05/24/2007:
Yay! Im so thrilled for you. I totally think you'll reach your goal by your birthday. Honestly though, I have this feeling that you'll get to it before then!! Cant wait to find out! :o)

Good work on your healthy day!

maria777 on 05/24/2007:
You have done a LOT of work to get to where you are now...I'm so glad to hear you are getting a 3-day weekend...we have Memorial Day over here...do y'all have a holiday this weekend? Good to go on your cals and exercise...as usual...you are really a BIG inspiration cause you have been so VERY consistant! Have a real HAPPY, HAPPY day! Big Smile!

Well at last I am under 170lbs. I managed to lose one pound this week despite having indulged myself a time or two!! I am very pleased to have lost that. I only need to lose another half of a pound to be out of the obese BMI range. I cant wait, and hopefully I shouldnt have to wait long, unless I do something stupid. I have to say, at the moment I am fighting every pound. The funny thing is, although I am not losing vast amounts each month now, people are noticing it more and my clothes are suddenly quite baggy, especially pants and jeans. I think I must be getting actual muscle on my legs!!!!

Congrats to Mcwoo who has put in a superhuman effort this week and if she keeps this up, will look terrific at her sister's wedding!!!

Have a great day tomorrow ladies :o)

OMG I have just noticed that I am three quarters of the way to my final target ( which I might adjust if I reach it) !!!!!!!

Progress as of today: 57.5 lbs lost so far, only 19.5 lbs to go!

mcwoo40 on 05/22/2007:
Hi, well done on the 1lb loss, and being in th 160's mark a great achievement.I can't believe i lost that much, as i have'nt done anything special only ate 3 meals a day, with a few healthy snacks thrown in.I knew i had lost some as i put an old pair of jeans the other day size 20 and they fitted perfectly.I was heading for size 26 in the 'old days'.I have to at least to loose another stone, as this wedding dress is a size 18 i bought.By the way my sister went to the trafford centre on friday and bought the bridesmaids dresses finally from bhs.I will just have to get Carrie one of those multi-way bras as it has a low back.I have just got to get cream ballet pump shoes now.I had to laugh about your daughter and not washing her neck.My brother used to do that, and my mum used to say if he did'nt do it, she would go and do it with some vim.Anyway here's to next week hey, good luck, and all we can do is our best, i will catch you up later on in the week, take care,Julie

Hey Greengirl,

The tatoo sounds intriguing! I figure I'd have such buyer's remorse from having something permanent and I'd have no one but myself to blame--haha!

Congrats on another pound, you're doing so very well--pat yourself on the back for me:-)

Have a good one!

maria777 on 05/22/2007:
Congratulations to you! Now you're in the 160's!!! YAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY to you! Very consistant! Have a happy day!

Good job on the pound lost! You're doing great!

noslot on 05/22/2007:
WOW! You an inspiration. Keep up the good work. It's also comforting to see how you fell off the wagon a time or two and still managed to stay focused.I am having trouble with that once I fall, I seem to tumble on down the mountain.

borntocry on 05/23/2007:
Congratulations! It's rare to see someone keep up such a steady rate of weight loss month after month, as you have. But then it's rare for anyone to be put in such consistent effort! You deserve it!

Thanks for the comment you left on my husband! That was very sweet!

hollybelle on 05/23/2007:
YAY! The exercise paid off! Good going. And now you are in the 160s! Way to go! It's funny how after weeks and weeks of nobody saying anything all of a sudden everyone notices a loss. It motivates, to say the least. Even though we are REALLY doing this for ourselves - it's nice when others notice.

sweetpea1977 on 05/23/2007:
YAAAAY!! Im so happy for you! You've done amazingly well since you started last August. I bet you'll be at and possibly below your goal weight way before your first anniversary on here!! How exciting!!! :o)

Hey everyone

I have been missing for a couple of days as time has just seemed to slip through my fingers. Over the weekend I kept up my exercise regime nicely but couldnt quite match it with the calories. Going over by a couple of hndred every day. With the exercise I thought I might still be up for a loss of a pound (ish).

However , tonight I accompanied my sister to an adult learners awards ceremony. She had been taking a computer course in her spare time and did very well and was nominated by her tutor for an award. She received a very nice 'Highly Commended' certificate. The problem is, when we got there it there was a lovely buffet and wine set out for us. I ate a load of cheese and biscuits (my downfall) and had one glass of wine, one glass of juice, some fruit and a coffee. All of this was on top of my daily calories!!! I am hoping against hope that I will have lost a pound, or at least not put anything on!!! Sorry I'm out of time again!! I will try and catch up with comments tomorrow :)

Mcwoo, you have been so good, I promise you that next week I will put up much more of a fight!!! See you at the weigh-in tomorrow :o)

Progress as of today: 56.5 lbs lost so far, only 20.5 lbs to go!

borntocry on 05/21/2007:
Oh man, cheese and biscuits!!! That sounds SO GOOD!!

I've been having the same problem lately - I can do either the calories or the exercise, but not both!

maria777 on 05/21/2007:
I guess I should have used the word 'aim' for instead of strive for...to me it means the same...but I'm glad you understood what I meant...thanks for answering that question...I am VERY INSPIRED by your progress...you have been outstandingly consistant!!! I thought if I follow your lead on the daily calories, maybe I'll also see progress! You are also getting in a lot of exercise...that's something I'm trying to work on! Congratulations to your sister about the Highly Commended certificate! Is she planning on looking for a computer-type job? Whether if she is or isn't the computer course is still a wonderful thing she has achieved and I know you are very proud of her! I love cheese and biscuits, too, hehehe! You have still done extremely well! Hope you have a happy, wonderful evening, Greengirl! Big Smile!

weightlossyoyo on 05/21/2007:
Way to go on the exercise! Hope that pound comes off for you!

hollybelle on 05/22/2007:
Well, as for the biscuits and cheese - I hope you didn't feel guilty while eating them - that would spoil some of the enjoyment. As for now - what's done is done. When I overeat I feel so sad because I feel like I have to really "under" eat the next day and it never works. Maybe more exercise is the key - you have done very well on that score. Hang in there.

Hi everyone,

Thank goodness it's Friday. This has been a long, busy, hard week. Thanks for the positive comments on the tattoo. I know it's not everyones cup of tea . If anyone else is thinking of having one, yes it does hurt a bit!!!

I have had another good day on the calories, I actually managed to stay just under 1400. I am hoping (against hope) for some nice weather this weekend as i would like to walk outdoors instead of on the treadmill. I do love the treadmill but nice weather inspires me, and the dog prefers it!!!! (outdoors, not the treadmill!!)

I am hoping to get some shopping done too. Its a good weekend for shopping as the FA Cup Final (soccer) is on and all the men in England will be staying in to watch it on TV, either at home or in the pub. My hubby's team are in the final (Manchester United) but I support the other , less successful team in Manchester, so I am willing to forego the (dubious) pleasure of watching the match in favour of some girl only retail therapy.

Also, Sweetpea I will post a photo of the tattoo, when it is completely healed!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Take care :o)

Progress as of today: 56.5 lbs lost so far, only 20.5 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/19/2007:
congrats on the tattoo!!! i can't wait to see it! Do you put your dog on the treadmill???? that could be pretty cool. have a wonderful weekend...i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Yay! I cant wait to see it!

Glad you had a great day on Friday. Hope your weekend is just as fabulous!! :o)

maria777 on 05/20/2007:
Congratulations on how far you are towards your goal! Do you always strive for 1400 cals per day? If so, it SURE IS working for you, Greengirl! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Hey folks, I've had another busy day. Work is still heaving with students revising for exams, and today I have a meeting with the communications group I'm a part of. Tonight though, my eldest son came round to take me for a tattoo. I hope you dont all disapprove!!! I had one on my left shoulder 20 years ago, and had the new one on the other shoulder. My son's half brother, on my ex-husband's side of the family, is a tattoo artist and he did it for me. i haven't gone for something 'girlie'. I dont go for flowers or fairies, or stuff like that so I have had a tatt picturing an ourouborous (sp?). That's a snake swallowing it's own tail (sorta dragonish) which represents eternal life, or re-birth. Don't think badly of me girls :)

Lifestyle-wise I have had a good day with the calories, keeping under 1500, but exercise-wise the day was a bust!! I didnt have time between coming home from work and going out, to go on the treadmill. Will do extra over the weekend to make up. It is only three weeks now to my charity 5km run. I've got about 180 sponsorship (About $360) so it will be worth doing. I'm looking forward to it.

Hope you all are doing your best girls :o)

Progress as of today: 56.5 lbs lost so far, only 20.5 lbs to go!

Soon2BThin on 05/17/2007:
Wow, a tattoo!! I'm impressed! I don't know if you knew I had talked about getting one for my birthday a couple weeks ago but I changed my mind. I do still want one even though the DH says it is "mutilating" your body. He's soooo old! I'm just taking my time to decide what I really want, since they are forever. Good for you! And you did great on your calories. Keep up the good work!

weightlossyoyo on 05/17/2007:
Way to go on the calories for the day! I would get a tattoo, BUT I am a chicken when it comes to needles HATE THEM!

CharlieAngel on 05/17/2007:
Hey! It is important to follow your own heart. I plan on getting a small tattoo for my 50th birthday in June of 2008. I am going to make it a memorial to Eddy....really have to think about it...I am going to put it on my left ankle. Good job on the calories. You are doing splendid.

borntocry on 05/18/2007:
Ooh, only three weeks until your charity run! I might be running a half-marathon around the same time. If I can get my motivation back before then!

You inspired me to look into doing a charity run of some sort myself some time. I found some in London but it seemed that there was a lot of pressure to raise lots of money, over and above the registration fee. I guess that's to be expected if it's for charity, but I thought I would feel too guilty if I couldn't raise enough (or any!) money so I decided against it.

That was very sneaky of you, to go out and get a tattoo without telling us. Now we have no choice but to accept it! Haha, just kidding. I was never one for tattoos myself, but I did get my eyebrow pierced when I was 20. I was afraid people would be very shocked but most of them didn't even notice! Crazy, huh? Sadly it kept getting infected and finally my Dad made a very emotional speech begging me to remove it so that he wouldn't worry himself into an early grave, or some such nonsense. I was a bit fed up of it by then so I took it out! But I still have a tiny scar which I show off from time to time!

mcwoo40 on 05/18/2007:
Hiya,I think it is very brave of you to get a tattoo.Did it hurt? i would be such a wimp.I guess it was'nt as bad as childbirth though !!Good on ya.My husband has three, but the chap must of been drunk when he did them done, as they look unprofessional.Be good over the weekend, catch up soon Julie

sweetpea1977 on 05/18/2007:
Ooooh! I'd LOVE to see your new tat once it heals! It sounds awesome!!

I thought about getting one myself - no girlie stuff for me either! I'd get either a scorpion (since Im a Scorpio) or my college mascot (the University of Florida Fighting Gator!). The scorpion might look really cool on my shoulder or in the small of my back. Im not sure where my Gator would go, but Im sure I would want it in a place where lots of folks could see it during basketball and football season. Oh well, I probably wont get it done since I dont like needles!! Im so jealous of your courage!! LOL :o)

Well I finally uploaded some pics of my little back garden. The one on the left is what it was like two years ago, before Pete became really ill, and had time and energy to spend keeping it nice. The arch was lost in the storms last winter, the small pond went because I couldnt keep it clean and a heron was using my goldfish as a buffet!! At the moment, as you can probably tell, we are in the middle of some refurbishment, hence the edging stones piled up, and the empty pots hanging about. We have a largish seating area with a table and chairs, surrounded by trellis just out of shot to the left. When all the flowers are out in June or July I will take more pictures. It is quite pretty then.

I weighed in this morning and had lost two and a half pounds in two weeks so I'm quite pleaed with that. I'd had a couple of off days, but I'm so active at work, and together with my walking that must have helped a lot. This will be my official starting weight for my challenge with Mcwoo!!!

Hope you all have a great week ladies :o)

maria777 on 05/15/2007:
Yes, it still looks lovely, but looked EVEN LOVELIER 2 years ago...I REALLY like the arch...you can tell you really worked with the garden a lot...what a wonderful place to walk through or sit and relax and enjoy the beauty!

Congratulations to you on your progress! YAAAAAA!!!! You have been so consistant!

Hiya, your garden looks nice.I don't know if it is a good thing, but i have'nt got a garden. We have a yard at the back, and like a border at the front with a few bushes in it, and it is all flagged.I seem to kill everything that i put in, even the hanging baskets.Well done on your weightloss, make sure you slow your weightloss down, now the challenge has begun.I'm only joking!!I wish you every success,(what is the prize a years worth of chocolate.)Bye 4 now,Julie

greengirl - Monday May 14, 2007
(portion control with calorie counting)
Weight: 173.0

Another iffy day from me. It is my restday from exercise, so no exercise and well over my 1400 target on the calories, probably getting on for 1700. I am really losing the plot!!! I need a bit of incentive without the total immersion of a challenge.

Still busy at work. The students are in the middle of exams and they are all very fraught. To make matters work there are trolleys of books unshelved, so if they are looking for a specific book they have to trawl through loads of trolleys (the books are in order on the trolleys tho') . i have spent a lot of time today just helping student track down books. It's always a relief when they find them!! Lots of staff are either on holiday or on sick leave too so we are understaffed. However, this last weekend I managed to get my head round the situation. I know that it isnt my fault, and that there is very little I can do except plod on with the shelving and help any students that ask for my help. By the end of the month everything will be over, the exams finished, the flow of books being returned will have stemmed, and everything will have calmed down. I can't wait!!!

Anyway I'd better go. Mcwoo, you have seven weeks to prepare for your sisters wedding. You could easily lose two pounds a week (that would be another stone gone!!) without going to all the efforts you did last month. I could certainly do with a bit of incentive to lose some more weight before I go away in July. How do you fancy a bit of competition between the two of us just to make it a bit more interesting!! No rules, do what you want with the diet and the exercise, just aim to lose the weight. I will be aiming for a pound a week!!! It is my fortnightly weigh-in tomorrow but I will revert to a weekly weigh-in for the next seven weeks starting from tomorrows new weight!! Are you up for it???? Let me know :o)

Progress as of today: 54 lbs lost so far, only 23 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/14/2007:
thanks for the comment. do you mean move on as in move out? you said time to move on. or, do you mean i should just let it go? and not take them seriously?

sorry its so stressful at work..it'll get better, though. soon it'll be nice and quiet again!

weightlossyoyo on 05/14/2007:
If you only had 1700 calories you still did great, don't be so hard on yourself. If you weight 173 you could get 1700 caloires a day and still lose a pound a week and no that is not a quick loss, but it is not gaining either. YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!

borntocry on 05/15/2007:
Hi greengirl!

I am jealous - I am desperately in need of a little competition with someone too, only if it's purely to lose weight there's no way I can win. But I need some incentive to get back to my diet and exercise again. I don't feel like doing anything these days.

Eurovision really is such a farce - that's why we watch it! My husband thinks it's hilarious how everyone always votes for their neighbours every time. Pity that France and England have neighbours who hate them! We were watching and hoping that someone would vote for the U.K. Just so that they didn't come dead last! My husband was also quite anxious for the U.K. to finish above France. It was like a contest for last place as far as we were concerned! Miraculously one country actually did vote for the U.K.!

Sandra aka Soul on 05/15/2007:
I once told Brian that I thought I was 39 stone, not understanding the difference of a stone to a pound, that was funny. Hopefully things get better for you and calm down a bit. I know what you mean about finding that motivation or incentive, it is too bad that we all don't live near each other...we could form a support group by phone or in person, pity.

Sandra

Hi everyone.

I had a great day today until about an hour ago. I stuck to my calories. I had a nice steady walk on the treadmill (weather awful so couldnt walk to sisters). I went sisters (in car) and played all afternoon with her baby granddaughter. Wasnt tempted to cheat. I did a huge pile of ironing tonight in front of tv and then settled down for an hour on the laptop and then I had an awful binge!!!!!!!!!! There was a bag of peanuts, raisins and chocolate chips at the side of me, which I had bought to tempt my hubby (he's lost his appetite)and I couldnt resist them. I had to eat them. They were talking to me, begging me to eat them!!! I had to do it, honest!!! I know that isnt much of an excuse but it's all I've got.

I promise I will do better tomorrow, and it is my weigh-in day on Tuesday. I hope I have at least a small loss to report!!

Where are you McWoo??

Well hello there,I saw my name at the end of your diary, and i thought i was seeing things, and guilty at the same time for not doing any commenting for a while.I have not been in the mood to right my diary, as i have nothing 'good'to report. At 12.30am this morning i was being sick due to me having heartburn, due to my overeating.I have been aching around my gut region all day.I am taking two steps back instead of going forward, although i went on the treadmill this morning for 20 mins, as i knew if i did'nt it would be another develish day!!I have kept the eating very light today,i did'nt feel like much anyway.I bought some frozen smoothies on a stick Del Monte make them, so they have been soothing.I just seemed to be on a downer since that challenge finished,i don't know why as i got the most points!!It just shows that exercise keeps me in an upbeat mood.Hey, and DON'T you worry about your mini binge last night, with what i have ate these past two weeks, i could open a corner shop!!I don't want to feel like this, and defo don't want to be a couch potato like i used to be.I even made a special trip to Morrison's on sunday to get my Muller,s.I won't give up on myself just yet,any advice for me to back on track will be gratefully appreciated.Take care of yourself and i will be back when that number on the scales goes down(shortly),I'll just have to get my head in motivation mode.Bye 4 now,Julie

Hey everyone,

I am in a much better mood today. It's as if a black cloud has lifted from me!! There is no obvious reason for this. We are still snowed under at work, but I know from experience that the end of the busy period is in sight. The students finish for the summer on 8th June and we usually have one more busy week after that when they are cleaning up, and getting ready to go home and then they are gone and it's like a ghost town YAY!! Can't wait !!!

I have had a pretty good day calorie wise but I didnt go on the treadmill today. I have pulled a muscle in my stomach struggling with a recalcitrant trolley at work. It was like a supermarket trolley, and kept going the wrong way. As you can imagine, when they are full (6 shelves, average 30 books per shelf) they can be a problem to move. Anyway the muscle doesnt cause me any pain when I walk, but if I jog or run it really pulls so I thought I would give it a miss today.

Sarah wants me to go shopping with her for presents for some of her favourite teachers. I know she will be upset when she leaves school for sixth form college this year. she has had five happy years at her current school. Oh well, thats life, and I'm sure she will like the next one just as well!!

Well I have been rambling on for a while so I had better go!! I hope all you US ladies have a great Mothers Day. Here in the UK it is usually in March. Enjoy your weekend :o)

Progress as of today: 54 lbs lost so far, only 23 lbs to go!

I was reading your entry from yesterday - it's odd to get flirted with for the first time in a while. As far as people making comments - I just starting things like "yes" and "I see" they usually quit pretty soon.

Hi greengirl! Good idea giving exercise a break until that pulled muscle heals. You don't want to make it worse.

Thanks for your comment and your advice on my parents. I know that nagging is just their way of showing that they care and worry about me. I can understand why they nag me about major decisions like whether or not to have kids. But why do they have to criticise every little thing I do? What I'm wearing, what I'm eating... it never ends.

I was thinking about your entry yesterday. I haven't lost a lot of weight, but it seems that with the last few pounds, a lot of people have started to notice. And I have also received some negative comments along with the positive. Of course, the easy explanation is that people are just jealous. But in my case, I know that's not it because the negative comments have all been from my parents. But at the same time, my friends, who have really high standards and have always been really hard to please, have told me that I look incredible and have even asked me what my secret is! I think part of the problem is that one just can't please everyone. People have different standards and what's "too thin" for some people is "fat" for others. In the end you've just got to go for the figure you want. I guess that's why they say you should lose weight for yourself, not for others. You have been getting a lot of compliments, men flirting with you, etc. I guess it's only natural for some people to appreciate your new look less than others. Also, they've known you at a larger size so it could be hard for them to get used to you at your current weight. For instance, no-one seems to think that my cousin is too skinny, even though she is my height and weighs less than me, because she's always been like that. It's only when we do something to change the way we are that everyone else feels the need to chip in with their opinion on whether it was a good change or a bad one. Seriously, just aim for the weight you like best for yourself and don't let the nay-sayers get you down!

And thanks again for your kind words on my diary!
