sorry if I didnt get on your diary to comment. I have been on some but I've got things to do tonight. Yesterday I had one of my exercise free days so no challenge points for then. I try to have two every week to give the old body time to recharge. Had a good session today though. Had 60 mins on the treadmill. Warm up mile in just under 17 mins, 2 miles in 32mins 50secs, 3 mile in 48mins 39 secs. Ended up doing 5.84km (3.62 miles) in 60 mins including a five minute slowdown period.

So thats 2 challenge points for me for today.

In reply to questions from Thursday, both the daffodil and the leek are emblems of Wales, as is the red dragon. The leek is an onion like vegetable and very tasty, esp in soups. My dog is a cross bred dog. She has a bit of staffordshire bull terrier in her and is very sweet. Will post a picture of her soon for workingit to see. Also thanks for the inspirational post workingit!!

Hi and Happy St David's Day (he's the patron saint of Wales!! so break out the daffodils and Leeks!!). A bit of a mixed day today weatherwise, cold, sometimes dry, sometimes showers and freezing temps forecast for tonight (only -1, not too bad). Ive been having a good day healthwise. kept in my cals and got in the exercise. Did 35 mins on the treadmill when I got in from work, then did 10 mins on the exercise bike in the kitchen while I was cooking the dogs dinner. I think that means I can claim 2 points on the new March challenge. YAY!!

How nice to see we have more new members. I am always telling people about this site but blogging isnt something that appeals to a lot of middle aged english ladies!! They just dont know what they are missing! My son tells me I use far to many exclamation marks !! He might have a point there!! Catch up with you all tomorrow, and many thanks for your comments on yesterdays post. You are soo supportive ***HUGS ALL ROUND***

Hi, i bought those quorn Kofti bites from Farmfoods,and i got some lamb style burgers.I've had the ordinary burgers which i like, so i thought i would try these for a change.They where �2.50 for the 2 items which is'nt too bad.Good on yer for doing your exercise after work i'm suprised you had any energy left!!I too use alot of exclamation marks.Have yourself a good day,Julie

Thanks for the comment you left me. I am also worried about what will happen if my race is really windy! I was so keen to finish it in under two hours, but considering that is already barely likely to happen, it will be so much harder if the weather is bad!

hello fellow DDers.

I am sorry i missed last night but hubby wanted to watch the football (soccer) on tv, which is boring so I watched a DVD upstairs and didnt bother with the computer. However i'm back now. I'd just like to thank everyone for the very positive comments on my last post. They mean a lot to me. The weather here in my part of England is pretty awful today. We have had a very warm winter for us, but it has also been very wet and miserable. Bit depressing really. Today it is windy too, just to make things worse.

anyways here are my final challenge points for this month

We all know what they are for so its daft to put it down individually. The good thing I'd like to say about myself is about my fitness. I work on the third floor above ground level and have been using the fire stairs at least once every day. This involves seven short flights of stairs!! Today I went up the stairs with two of my colleagues. I talked to them all the way up. They stopped talking after a couple of flights of stairs!!! When we got to our floor I was still fine, not short of breath or anything. They were both struggling to catch their breath, and guess what. They were both only half my age!!! Made me feel great, and that all my exercise is so worthwhile!! It's obviously paying off :) Have a great day tomorrow, friends :0)

Boy that is great on climbing the stairs! Keep up the good work. I'm sure you are right on the water weight. Or, perhaps you ate or drank something with high sodium. That happens to me.

Wow! I'm impressed that you climbed all those stairs with no shortness of breath. I hate stairs. Despite all my running I still get out of breath climbing stairs!

I know what you mean by the weather, it seems to be getting everybody down. I'm so envious of the girls in the warm and sunny places (borntocry, lucky you!!) We are getting another snow storm today. My daughter's school bus was cancelled. The snow is really coming down right now and the weather network predicts it will turn into freezing rain around 7:00 pm tonight, YUCK!

I'm pretty depressed this morning as I am a pound up on the scale but I will accept it with a good grace and move on !! I'm still carrying some water in my ankles so I'm not thinking its fat that ive put on. Hopefully the pound will be gone next week and will have taken a friend with it!!! The reason I feel positive about myself is because although I have not lost weight I have total confidence that i can turn that round this week. I know from experience that by next week I will be back on track. I am on a mission to lose between 14 and 20 pounds before I do my charity 5k race in June so there is no way I am letting this blip set me back from that aim!! All I have done this week is spoil a very nice chart that I have been doing on excel to keep track of my weightloss!!!! Good luck to us all ladies (and gentlemen of course :0) )

You can do it! Im impressed that you didnt binge on youre disappointment because thats what I have to fight myself about punishing myself when I have setbacks and I know we all have setbacks!

Ohh, I spoiled my Excel chart last weekend too! I was so proud of the graph showing my calories - I had never kept them down for such a long period of time (two weeks) before. I was even going to post it in my entry. But now it's ruined!

Never mind - you have the right attitude. We have more important things to look forward to and we can't let this set us back!

Hey everyone, i'm sorry i have been AWOL for a couple of days, but as you know I have been preparing a party for my son's 21st birthday. well, the party went well. I have posted a photo from it. Its of me and the men in my life,(from left to right, me , John (birthday boy), Pete (hubby) and Stephen (firstborn!!!). We had a great night with twenty members of the immediate family, but would you believe it Sarah (my daughter) had a prior engagement which was obviously much more exciting than our party!!!! By the way, just realised that Stephen has silly hat on, on the photo. He doesnt usually wear that!! He must have picked it up in the house cos it's not his!

Down to business, I have to confess to having a really bad day (or three). I will just put my challenge points and you will see what I mean.

You see what I mean!!! And if it hadnt been for the exercise on Thusday and friday and the positive commenting tonight the points would have been even less. All I can say is that the temptation of cooking all the party food was just too much. It was just as bad as Christmas. Also this morning I had some water retention in my ankles and hands. I think it was because I was on my feet for hours on end yesterday, and also eating lots of unaccustomed snack-type foods with high salt content (not to mention the booze aspect!!!)

Anyway, I am not expecting any kind of weight loss this week. In fact I think i will be lucky if I dont register a gain. If I do I will just pick myself up and get back on with it. I'm going to try a bit more back-to-basics!!! It worked well for me in January and I'm feeling the need of a bit of a detox at the moment. Will catch up again tomorrow :0)

Had a good day all round today until I got home and had a minibinge of chocolate. Damned husband had bought Cadburys Dairy Milk chocolate. Its yummy. Probably went over my cals by about 300 but it wasnt mindless binging - it was amazingly purposeful binging!!! I meant every bite of it LOL!!

Very quick update tonight. sorry I have been too short on time to read and comment tonight but I will catch up with as many people as I can tomorrow. The kids got home safely last night as I knew they would (still worrying tho). They had a brilliant night. Sarah was really excited. She took some good photos at the gig and I will post one tomorrow specially for BTC!!! I managed to get twenty minutes on the exercise bike last night before I went to bed, so the exercise wasnt a complete washout. today I was much better and did 40 mins on the treadmill after work. I am having Thursday and Friday off work in order to get prepared for the party. The posters I made with John's photos turned out really well. He knows about the party but he will have a fit when he sees the posters all over the house!!

Weigh-in day for me today, and it was a lot better than last week. This week I managed to lose two pounds so I am very pleased. I have been trying to cut down to 1400 calories a day, and I have been getting there or thereabouts most days. Today I had to work an extra hour at work and I was a lot more tired, when I got home from work, than I usually am so no exercise for me tonight. I will make up for it tomorrow. I am going to be worrying all night tonight anyway, as my son and daughter are out at a gig tonight. I always worry when they are out in town, but you have to let them off the leash sometimes!!!

How nice it is to see so many new members on our site, recently. I hope they all do really well. Here are my challenge points for today

Way to go!!! I'm proud of you! I'm not looking forward to the day that I have to let my girls go out without me. I honestly think that cutting those apron strings are going to be harder than losing weight...if that's possible..lol! Keep up the good work and happy early b-day to your son! To be young again...although when I was 21 I had a 2 month old baby..lol!

Two pounds, way to go!! I guess when your a parent you never stop worrying about your kids. My mother used to sit in a chair in front of the T.V. waiting for my sister and I to come in at night when we were teenagers. She usually fell asleep, but she always woke up when we came in. Now that I'm a mother I find I can understand why my mother did all the things she did that drove me crazy growing up!!!

How is the party planning coming along? Is it a surprise party for your son or does he know?

I hope you get a good nights rest tonight. Sometimes its just what your body needs and you'll be nice and fresh for your exercise tomorrow!

Hey everyone. I didnt manage to get on here yesterday. I had to scan about a hundred photos onto my laptop as I want to make some posters of pictures of my son, to put on the walls next Friday at his 21st birthday party. It took me ages. I had a good time looking through literally hundreds (if not thousands) of photos. It was quite emotional actually. I'm seriously thinking of scanning the lot and saving them to discs, to put in a fireproof box. If we had a fire it would be one less thing to worry about. I would be devastated to lose them, like losing your memory!!! Anyway, enough about that, down to business.

I have had a really good weekend healthwise. I have fitted in all my exercise, and water and stuck within my calories so my points are as follows:-

Thank-you for your comment on Friday. Planning your son's 21st b-day, sounds fun and emotional! Your baby is now a young man!! It seems like once you have children time goes by so much faster!

I think thats a great idea to scan your photos and put them on a disc to keep in a fire safe box. I got my first camera when I was 14 yrs old. It was a pink and grey polaroid camera, hee hee. I have loved taking pictures ever since and last count I think I have over 40 photo albums!! I do have a digital camera which is by far my favourite toy but I still print all of my pictures and put them in albums, I still like being able to document them in a book. I also have them on discs and in my computer. My mother just gave me my dad's scanner and the guide on how to use it When I get a chance to get it hooked up and set up I know I will have alot of fun scanning the old pictures and playing with them!!

My girlfriend Genevieve (same friend that I just went to her Grandma's funeral) had a fire in their house over 6 yrs ago. Her 1st son was only about 4 months old and they had to throw him out the window. That sounds awful but her husband threw him to his Grandfather who caught him and he had no injuries at all!! There was so much smoke and he was so small that they wanted to get him out as fast as possible. They lost almost all of their photos and the ones that did make it were damaged and smelled really awful from the smoke. Family and friends tried to give them pictures but it would still be such a loss of memories. I've always said I would get the family out and then my pictures!!

Great job with your calories and exercise! Looks like you did well this week-end! Good luck with your party planning, I bet you'll be busy with that this week!

wow- great job on the weekend. and what a fun project for your sons birthday! I'm sure he'll love and appreciate that. My mom just turned 60 this year and my dad did the same thing...he put pictures all over the walls of her through the years. It was really kind of neat!! I know your son will love it! :)

Thanks a lot for your suggestion on keeping eye contact. When I read it I suddenly remembered a class I had in 7th grade where the headmaster of my school taught us all how important that was. I guess I should make sure to use that one. :-)

Thanks for your comment! I must tell my husband that story about Pete Doherty falling asleep on stage... he'll love it!

I wasn't joking about Morrissey - if it weren't for him I would never have met my husband!! No kidding. We met on an online chat group for The Smiths! (I was also on one for Pulp, but that one was always deserted - I guess they never really made it in America!) So we are both huge Morrissey fans!
