Not much to report from yesterday. I tried to go for an afternoon ride with a new group, but I got dropped pretty quickly - it wasn't pretty. I ended up cutting short with a group of the Back-of Packers. I only ended up with 20 miles, I had actually forgotten that I was supposed to go, so I accepted an invitation to go eat with my parents. I had a huge amount of brocolli right before the ride and I spent a very unformortagble hour and a half wanted to throw up.

Progress as of today: 59 lbs lost so far, only 16 lbs to go!

Well, every miles logged on the bike counts - so keep up your persistence and the endurance will come. Sounds like extenuating (sp?) circumstances because of the brocolli!!!! :o)

I really struggled with my run this morning.I woke up ready to go, but my husband wasn't ready to get up, so I went back to sleep for 30 minutes or so and woke up groggy, drained, and with a headache. I went with him, but it didn't go well. I was able to sprint up the final two hills, but needed a couple of walk breaks during the rest of the run. Oh well. I swan great yesterday. Smooth and easy. I finished the 1.2 miles of my race distance easily, not quickly, but easily. I'm looking to add a ride on Wednesday afternoons, just to get in some additional time. I feel like it's starting to come together, but I need a few more pieces to  get in line. I think a little bit more bulk in the exercise will help me drop the weight faster and get in shape for my race. I have the 1/2 Ironman Relay in October, then a Half Marathon in December. 

Progress as of today: 59 lbs lost so far, only 16 lbs to go!

i absolutely loved reading this entry because, seriously, like every other few words was about some type of exercise. i love exercise, wishing i could swim better - i plan to do that one winter once i am not a student anymore and can afford some lessons. but i think it's wonderful you enjoy and can do so much exercise. don't ever stop! :)

I wanted to see 140 by friday - but it took until Saturday. I think I will just have a mental goal of 1 pound per week - because I found myself not wanting to drink water after my workout until I had a chance to weigh, just so I could meet my self-imposed timeline. So - now it's one pound a week, which means 139 by Saturday. 

I had a good weekend working out. I rode 20 miles on Saturday as well as walked 6 miles (4 in the morning, 2 in evening) Then on Sunday I ran 5 miles. I was also supposed to ride 30 miles Sunday afternoon, but my riding buddy was sick, so I wimped out and read a book instead. 

Progress as of today: 59 lbs lost so far, only 16 lbs to go!

I'm just back from my morning walk with my husband. We ended up going 4.5 miles. It was really nice! Now I'm off for my group ride. A friend is coming with me, so I'm not sure yet if we are going with the 20 mile group or the 30 mile group. I have someplace to be this morning, so I'd be fine with just the 20. We'll see!

Well - good news and bad news. The bad news is that today is my official weigh-in day, but it's also the day I run with my group then go to breakfast. I had set a goal to see 140 on the scale this morning, but it didn't happen. I was at 141.6 before running, and I always lose about a pound after running, but I ate before I could weigh in - so the 140 will have to wait until tomorrow. Now the good news - I fit into my clothes again!! I spend 3 years in the 130's so I have a lot of jeans and clothes that I couldn't fit into anymore. I tried on most of my jeans and fit comfortably into most of them, a couple have a few pounds left to go. Now don't get me wrong, I have jeans from the 120's that I'm not even close to, but it is such a relief to have clothes that I can wear. I really am excited to have my cute stuff back! I had bought a couple of things in a size 12 that falls off me now. If anyone wants a skirt and a few shirts that have only been worn 2 or 3 times in a size 12 - let me know, I'm happy to mail them to you.  

The run was good this morning - the weather is back to the normal awful heat, so that was tough, but I did just fine. 

Progress as of today: 58 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!

You are right, I will! I am just being my Grumpy self and complaining. Haha. I know i will get back on track! It's just hard right now. But good advice girl :)

You have come so far! You're doing great! and yes the pickles ARE good. I know what you're talking about with the heat you're having. I have family that lives in central Texas and they said it was 106 earlier in the week...and here I'm complaining about our 85 and humidity! Thanks for all of you encouragement.

WOW. 199 to 142 is quite a feat. you motivate me beyond belief...hopefully i'll be able to inspire you in this upcoming week. i've been battling what i like to refer to as some minor depression this year - no diagnosed, but it's how i feel about my own emotions.

Yesterday was another good day. I ran with my husband in the morning. I struggled far more than last week, but I was still able to sprint up one of the hills. Later I mowed the lawn, help wash my step-daughters car, then the whole family went for a walk last night - about 2 miles. For all that trouble - I'm almost a pound heavier than I was yesterday morning. Oh well - it's not real weight. 

Progress as of today: 56.4 lbs lost so far, only 18.6 lbs to go!

No it's not real weight - you are smart to know that. Regarding my routes for the bike - I have a few of them through different neighborhoods around here. They are all hilly which makes for good training. Some can be added on by biking a few courts or side streets. I try to avoid the main roads all together as they are so dangerous the drivers are so rude.

RE: really? because after 1.7 miles I felt like I was going to pass out. when does it get easier? when does jogging become fun? btw, I love the walking idea. I always felt like if I stopped once even to walk I was failing but when you put it like that it is like a plan. I like it.

Re: No I didn't count the calories. I usually have a smoothie for breakfast which is quite filling but were out of 2 key ingredients so I just grabbed what I grabbed. It doesn't seem like much but I wasn't hungry at all today. It was really warm out today, humid, so I drank a lot of water which I'm sure kept me from feeling any pangs. Halley how long has it taken you to lose this 56 lbs? What have been your struggles if any? Take care.

It's coming off slowly, a little bit at a time. Today I'm going to try on some of my closthes from last year, I hope to fit back into my jeans. I really thought I would never be in this position again. I thought once I had lost 78 pounds the first time I would never get above the 120's, but I was wrong. Life gets in the way, surgery got in the way, not paying attention got int he way, and thinking that since I was racing and traing it was ok for me to eat whatever I wanted to got in the way. Now I'm feeling in much better control of my eating, what a relief. Now I just need to start lifting weights again, but I'm not sure where I can squeeze that into my day.

Progress as of today: 57.2 lbs lost so far, only 17.8 lbs to go!

Sounds good to me! It is too hot and humid here to be trying on clothes that may or may not fit. I must have sensory issues about that.

You would be surprised on how much progress you can make with squats, lunges, push-ups (even the girlie kind) and crunches.

I cut my run short yesterday - I finished at about 5 miles. I'm really struggling with running right now. It seems like I can only do one of the three things well - either run, ride or swim, but not all three at the same time. Oh well - 5 miles is not bad. I swam this morning - 20 laps. I guess I'm not really in a hurry to lose weight - as long as I keep going down!

Progress as of today: 56.6 lbs lost so far, only 18.4 lbs to go!

you shouldn't really be in a hurry to lose weight. it should be more like a lifestyle change - a process. once you are in a hurry, or once i am in a hurry, i am doomed to fail!!! so don't be in a hurry....

i was going to a friend's housewarming party this past weekend. two of my friends, they were roommates in college years ago, decided to buy a house together! lol, until one meets a girl...haha.

I know how you feel - to want to do or accomplish something & for some reason its just beyond your grasp...... Just always remember how far you've come and how much closer you are. 5 miles is PHENOMENAL! You'll reach your goal (probably exceed it)! You believe in yourself (and THAT is the key ingredient to ANY success) - so you will master all 3!

I was much happier after I went to the lake to ride yesterday. It never really got hot, but the sun was out by the time I left. The lake is 10 miles around so I rode 3 laps. This morning I go back to run. I used to run at least 1 lap, but I'm still working my way back to that level. Today I'll do 6 miles. I had another tiny drop in weight, they will start to add up soon!

Good for you going to the lake to ride! It's important to stay safe. The car drivers around here are so RUDE to bicyclists! Wish I could ride my bike around a lake. Sounds beautiful. I have to settle for town. And only certain streets as it is so dangerous with the traffic. We have lots of big hills, too. Many of the subdivisions are named such and such HILLS as a matter of fact. I'd love to have a nice flat route or two to ride. But the hills are good training rides. I love the bike. I used to ride years ago with a club, but now go by myself or with another lady. I'd like to find a couple more women my age that would like to ride regularly. It is difficult to find women my age that do anything exercise-wise. Our state is so not health conscience. It is beginning to change, though. Once I get back to a higher fitness level I will venture out more with other people - maybe in a club for shorter rides. I'd like to be able to ride 50 miles at the drop of the hat. Today going for about 23-25 - but it's supposed to be mostly easy.

Hang in there. The little weight drops DO ADD UP. You're doing it!

I'm glad you were able to get your ride in yesterday. It's so frustrating when you feel that urge to get out and do something and the weather or friends don't cooperate. Great job on not letting either hold you back!

RYC: I really have to push the water, the only time I get thirsty is when I think I've been drinking plenty (usually when I've been working or exercising in the heat). Seems kinda odd. I do know that as we age our sensitivity to thirst lessens.

Hmm...my bike has cobwebs! HA! I can's wait to ride outside on a bike. Living in a small town you really do not have a good nice place to ride.

Running on the other hand I havent done since uh....20 years! My dad used to run and I always wanted to like he did. He ran Marathons.

I'll give it some time and then start riding my bike again. I may have to buy a new one.
