I am sorry, again, to be missing from here. Just so much going on. I have done fairly well on food and exercise the last week. I overate (ginger cookies) on the weekend but worked hard in the yard on Sat & Sun and walked 3 miles on Sunday. Not enough to lose or gain....so holding my own. Clothes still fitting a little better than at the end of winter! Just on the edge of my max comfort range..... :-( That elusive 10 lbs feel so out of reach, although I know it really isn't!
I am making beets and corn for dinner tonight with some kind of meat - left over 90/10% burger or grilled chicken.
Having our family picnic on Sunday - Will's parents are coming this year. So surprised because it is such a long drive for them. But they are visiting their daughter and SIL in Louisville, too so that will cut down on the drive a little.
Progress as of today - 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!
Lots of yard work - AGAIN! We were really behind on pruning the two big-ish maple street trees in front of our house. The sidewalk was certainly passable but they really needed to be taken up to the next notch. I took them as far as I could and then I had to call in the big gun = Mark. He can get the sawing up high done. I love using the pole cutter. It is so cool! We should have taken before and after pictures! We got so much done before it rained us out!
After those trees I pulled all the fruit off the patio peach before they got too big - hate that job. I also noticed that I think the peach tree and the elm tree have a disease called "scale". The magnolia had it a few years ago and I had to treat it twice so I guess I'll check into that and treat them, too. It's expensive, but not as expensive as replacing them - especially the 40 ft elm!
Food - Not so good today. I made ginger cookies with crystalized ginger and have eaten about 6 of them. Had one egg one bisicuit and 2 pieces of bacon for breakfast, an egg and bacon sandwich on low cal double fiber wheat for lunch and don't know what will be for dinner.
Must do better on food. and exercise. My heel is killing me. I talked with a lady who had the same heel pain and she told me some exercises that cured hers so I am doing them every night. Hopefully the exercises will cure mine, too. She said she went to two drs and had PT and NOTHING helped except these exercises. Sure puts a damper on my exercise. The pain is really awful.
Tomorrowif weather permits will do the back yard - got started on it last week, but needs a lot of work. At least I am getting exercise working in the yard.

Finally posting again. It has been a really really busy week. Worked til 8:00 Wednesday night. Thursday night was going to grill out with daughter and SIL but it rained so we went out to eat and then to Old Navy as daughter wanted to look around. SIL wound up buying a pair of pants. It was 10:00 by the time they left our house. Days have been crazy.
We have to prune our street trees tonight and tomorrow - about 1/2 finished. They had gotten a little out of hand.
I need to study for my exam I want to take soon. There is no deadline, per se, but I want to take it soon so it is behind me and I can work on another certification plan that I would like to have for professional reasons. Also - I am supposed to go to training at the Dept of Insurance the Tuesday after Memorial Day and be certified to give public addresses as assigned on Healthcare Reform. I am hoping it will give me networking opportunities to transition into some kind of public education position with the state or other public entity. Who knows....long shot because there is basically no funding and they are expecting us to do this on a volunteer basis, but it's an idea.
I have been exercising some and eating better than last week! Just seem to be extra hungry. I have a big week again next week and then we are having Mark's family over for the annual Memorial Day picnic at our house! More later.

Got my ride in last night but didn't get to walk the dogs. I rode 11.5 miles and was headed to ride the last 4 miles, but I hit a pothole and popped my rear tire. Fortunately as I was walking home a friend picked me up and I chained my bike while she took me home and loaded my rack on the car and went to pick it up. Will have to take to the bike shop to replace it. Can ride my other bike meanwhile.
This makes about the 3rd tube I have had to replace in about 2 years for the same reason. I am glad I wasn't out somewhere remote - oh, say 20 miles from home! Would have just had to call someone to rescue me!
More later.

Yesterday was OK. I didn't exercise much - it was cold out and I picked up in the yard and did some housework. I got back home from work late and was tired from the weekend. Tonight I am riding my bike - it's going to be georgous outside - very perfect. Mark is out of town until Thursday - Pittsburgh this time.
I also need to take the dogs on a short walk tonight or they will drive me crazy!

Onward and upward. Ate too much last 4 days, especially Fri & Sat. Sun was better. I also did lots of yardwork and walking on Sat and Sun so all that activity counted for something. Walked 3 miles on Saturday - my heel let me know it, too. Did all kinds of yard work Sun from 9:00 to 3:00 - woo-hoo - got a good jump on the work for the family Memorial Day picnic.
We should know more about the insurance situation for husband's auto accident. The young woman who hit him got a ticket for failing to yield right of way and innatentive driving. She is only 21 years old and had a 2 year old with her - moving from MN to NC. Bless her heart. Just so glad no one was hurt at all.
Mother's day was ok. Did all the yardwork and then Mom and I went to the cemetary and put flowers on graves of great grand, grands and my brother and father. Anyway - that is not morbid, to me. We have done it every year for decades. Usually have it done before Mother's Day, though. We went to eat with daughter and SIL afterwards and I got gas for Mom's car and brought stuff up from the basement she needed.
Planning on walking or biking tonight - it turned cold again and got down to around 37 here last night! Unreal.
Eating will be much better this week and exercise will be, more yardwork and other activities......
Progress as of today - 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!
So busy - ate too much yesterday and almost today - today was better, though. Not sure why - just searching for something that was tasty enough for me to stop, Lack of planning again......I need to stock up on my healthy munchies.....
Husband was in auto accident yesterday when he went out for a late lunch. It could have been worse, but was bad enough. He and the other parties were not injured but his new car was smashed to pieces - especially on the passenger's side. It wasn't drivable so he is in a rental and it will be a couple of days before the police report is available. It was ot his fault. The other driver - in a U haul truck pulling a trailer with a car on it got a ticket of some kind. We hope she has good insurance because we do not need another accident on ours - after the theft and damage done to our two cars in our driveway last fall!
Carry on everyone......

Sorry for the unintended absence. I have been so busy with work no time to post. I have done OK on food except for a weekend faux pas that resulted from my making a cheese danish and eating most of it myself! Hadn't made one in years and probably won't for years again LOL!
Yesterday's food was:
2 pieces of natural oat bran toast with jam, iced vnilla coffee
baked chicken and salad and roll at professional association luncheon
small wendy's frosty
spinach salad with leftoveor grilled chicken, almonds, apples, crispy wontons, dressing
1/2 PBJ on 50 cal bread 1/4 C skim milk
Also put out some flowers - slowly but surely between the rains we have had since Monday........want to ride bike, maybe late - after 7 pm tonight???? Will go to church first.
Progress as of today - 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!
Was a really busy busy day yesterday and didn't post for Friday - but I did OK. on food. Overate just a bit at dinner - but was healthy foods.
Today I am taking down the little dwarf maple tree that is 3/4 dead now and husband is going to dig out the stump and roots of it and the mugo pines I chopped down this week. I have lots of weeds to pull and plants to get in pots. My hay fever is already acting up. Hope to get a short bike ride in sometime today - it's cooler and raining off and on.
More later.....
B: Iced vanilla coffee, 3 slices of bacon, 1 scrambled egg and two small biscuits! YUM
Update: Woo-Hoo - yard work from 9:30 to 3;00 - yikes! My heel is killing me and I am pooped. Husband helped too and it looks great. Front yard is almost done and the backyard is for tomorrow. Rain held off. Once I get it all done, I'll try to remember to take a couple of pictures and post them. We;ll see. I am glad our yard is not bigger!
Progress as of today - 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

I'm happy to hear you've been putting so much time into your yard and gardens - I'm sure they look amazing! We have lots of work here to do at this house and will hopefully get going on it this weekend. And I definitely hear you on that last 10 pounds - that's what I'm looking at and I've been struggling with it. We will get there!
OhioRaven on 05/21/2013:
