Took a day off morning walking yesterday due to sciatica (spelling????) and I did yoga and push ups and abs.  I did wind up walking 1 mile and going to the playground with babygirl and pushing her in the swing for a LONG time.  Back walking today but only 3 miles. Sciatica still there and is a problem.  It's an old problem and usually I can treat it with yoga position stretches and Tylenol.  

Food was great yesterday.  Today has been excellent, too until this afternoon I broke down and had an apple with some caramel dip and peanut butter.  But......if that's as bad as it gets - that's OK because I haven't had many sweets at all.  I try to have sweets 2-3 times a week - BUT try to make them healthier sweet choices - like the apple and caramel or peanut butter or both or a granola bar with nuts and fruit, etc.  Nothing too heavy duty on sweets. But if I don't have some sweets I will feel deprived and go overboard!

Lots to do this afternoon. Everyone have a good one!!

I walked 5 miles again yesterday. Calories were good.  Did the small weight workout.  I need to add pushups and ab work, but don't feel I can add both right now, so I will add the ab work first since I'm doing weights for upper already.  Then later on I'll add the push ups.

I wasn't getting sore anymore from my 2-3 mile walks, but I can tell a difference since I've been walking 5 miles.  Sciatica a bit and more tired around 8:30 p..m.  LOL! 

I have 23 days 'til vacation.  I can do this.  I won't go overboard on vacation, either.  I need to keep it gong to a big degree on vacation, too.  Exercise won't be an issue on vacation - food, we'll see!

Good job on the workouts and calories! Sciatica is awful. Hope it gets better very soon. How long will you be on vacation?

yes...pushups. you are going to do them on your knees?

Let me tell you...pushups will redefine your shape like no other! I am so grateful for working up my ability on push-ups because it has really built my shoulders up.

I have tried for years to do push ups on my toes and I just can't. I do them from the knees. I also do plank for abs. But most abs must be done standing. Much better.

OK I feel better about that. Even when I can do all I want on my knees, I can't "graduate" to toes. Why is that?

Thanks, everyone for the feel better wishes!  I AM feeling MUCH better than Monday - whew! Glad that is over.  Worst headache I've had in years.  Yesterday was a big success.  Walked 5 miles yesterday and food was very very good!  I am not posting my food because I get a little to obsessive about it - I am just going to keep doing what I am doing for now. I can tell I've probably lost at least 5 lbs - maybe as much as 7 lbs.....clothes are much better fitting.  In another 2 weeks I'll try on some of my summer clothes that I haven't been able to get into at all.  I'd like to be able to take those on vacation because they are the nicer ones!  More later.  I am going or another 5 miles today and some 5 lb weights for upper body.

My headaches usually come from something I eat that I am not use to eating. Glad to hear that you feel like you are loosing that is always a good feeling. Keep up the good work.

it's so nice when clothes fit how they are supposed to. my clothes are slightly tight on the bottom i think.

Well, dogs vet visit went well, except for the cost!!  My day went downhill from there, though.  I had a terrible headache all day and all night.  I don't get severe headaches often. Didn't get any exercise, barely got off the bed/couch.  It seems better at the moment.  Will update how today goes.   Want to walk!


Update:  much better day today - I walked 5 miles this morning.  Headache is gone except for a very mild residual. I visited with my mother  -  took her the walking shoes I bought last week and she has worn them all day and is happy with them - this is a minor miracle.  She will wear them again tomorrow around her house and if they do OK 2 days in a row - she will keep them!  Woo-hoo!

I have done very well on food today so far.  Tonight we are having.  Spazagna - spaghetti-lasagna hybrid. Salads and that's enough.  I have saved enough calories for this.

We are getting our weather cool down today!  Fall weather is coming.  Some rain, too.  We desperately need it.  Doggies going to vet today - shots and rash on belly check for the big labby boy!  Going to get out on the track and see how far I can walk today.  The weekend was great on food and exercise.  Clothes are finally beginning to fit better.  Still have a way to go, though.  But.....it's better!

Walked our 5 miles this morning.  We got another late start and it was HOT!  Supposed to cool down by Tuesday and be more Fall - like.  I'll be glad.  I had a great food day yesterday - didn't eat too much.  We didn't have the soup and sandwiches we planned, though.  When we took baby girl home daughter has been so ill this week and her kitchen was a mess, so I stayed and cleaned it up for her.  Took about an hour and 15 minutes.  It was about 8:30 so we decided to stop by and get sundaes from McDonalds for dinner and call it a day - 340 calories - not really bad for sundaes.  Husband was happy with that too .  I don't think I've mentioned on here much about husband, but he is in great shape - eats moderately.  Works out regularly - walking and weights.  He's  especially fit and trim for his age.  

Anyway today going to hang around the house.  Offered to keep baby girl again, but daughter says she feels better and even went to church this morning, so we will see if they stop by.  I am planning on making banana cake and having that for a great tonight along with something healthy for dinner.  No snacks today.

 Hope everyone is having a good weekend.  Onward and upward!

Whew!  Walked 2.5 miles in the morning - husband slept late and we had to pick up baby girl from daughter's house at a specific time so had to cut it short.  Would have liked to walk another 2.5 like we have been doing.  Food has been excellent so far today.

Came home, took shower and went out to shopping center on other side of town to visit with a high school friend who was in town exhibiting for her "Sisters on the Fly" camper club at Cabella's.  Boy that place is crazy.  Expensive and kind of odd, but she was having a good time trying to drum up members for the club.  They have a ball.  Ladies only club - everyone has campers that are all tricked out - they wear costumes and have meets all over the place in the US.  Not exactly my cup of tea - but she loves it and I love it for her!

Anyway - took baby girl out there - shopped a little - didn't buy anything - got something to eat and came home. 

Baby girl is taking a nap - she NEEDED it - very grumpy-but sweet.  

We will have ground beef, bean and cabbage soup with sandwiches tonight and start all over again tomorrow.  Going to get husband up earlier and walk.  We may have time to do another mile or two tonight.  We'll see.

I walked 3 miles in the morning and another mile with granddaughter in the evening - pulling the wagon behind me.  We went to the playground and pushed her in the swing.  Fun. I did OK on food.  

Went to the grocery and ran a couple of other errands yesterday so didn't get a lot done around the house except some laundry - catching up from husband's trip.  

I have a little job to do - will earn $100!  I am going to pick up an 8th grade boy at his school and drive him home 5 days over the next 2 weeks.  His father is a customer of my daughters and needed some help with this.  Now if I could get about 10 jobs like this over a month's period of time, I'd be good for semi-retired.  I will work on it more in the Spring.  I am just going to take it easy through Fall and Winter and work on my house and my fitness.

I seem to make plans and then change them - but I am getting things done bit by bit that I have been postponing for years.  Yesterday I did the three shelf cabinets over the desk in the kitchen.  Doesn't sound like much - but they were stuffed and had all out appliance and product booklets and warranties in them.  Those had to be gone through one by one and the stack was about a foot and a half high.  Got rid of all the one for appliances we no longer even have! 

One other big job - you won't believe this, but, I hate changing my purse to match my outfit every morning.  I usually keep two purses in my car truck so that I can just change them out there and not have to go in my closet.  Over time I had accumulated 9 purses and a backpack in the trunk of my car.  I have a station wagon type vehicle and just pull the cover over them so no break-in risk.  I got them all out - cleaned them out and wiped them off and put them away - except for two.  I can't believe I even have that many purses.  I don't really carry much in my purse at all - wallet, small cosmetic bag, sunglasses and cell phone, so there wasn't a bunch of junk in them - just small odds and ends.  It was a good feeling to get them organized and put away.  I am taking one to consignment shop as part of the closet purge when the time comes.

I overate a bit yesterday but not badly.  No desserts or stuff like that, but too much of what I had.  I walked 3 miles in the morning.  I would say what my household plans are today, but I'll probably just change them.....so I won't.  Ha!

Husband is home safe and sound.  We will have baby girl tonight while her parents go to parent night at her school.

Feels good to get project done, doesn't it? I've got a closet with shelves in the living room I've been putting off cleaning out. They have 3 boxes full of appliance manuals, etc. Some of them I'm sure we haven't had for a decade at least.

Like you, i feel good when i can purge things away and also clean up & organize. Yes, it's a great feeling & yes I tend to wait a long time before getting to tasks like these.

I plan to try to keep my car looking far cleaner on the inside though. I like the cleaner look. (when i had cleaned it so carefully in the crevices with rubbing alcohol and q-tips = best idea ever!

Busy day yesterday.  I walked 3 miles on the neighborhood track.  My friend from out of town came and we hung out a bit and had lunch and shopped for bargains.  I only bought a wedding present and some shoes for my mother to try.  Mom has been wanting new "tennis shoes" for a long time.  So far we have had no luck.  

Food was good yesterday - only iced vanilla coffee for breakfast, 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 order of fresh cut fries for lunch, bowl of ground beef vegetable soup and piece of cornbread for dinner. 

Today plan to walk another 3 miles and clean the master bath - drawers, cabinets, closet and maybe start on master closet!  That closet is a big big job.  I know it will simplify life a lot, though.  Husband needs to purge his clothes as much (almost) as I do!  He will have to do that part.  Then we will do the dresser and chest drawers.  Funny thing to be excited about, but I am!  This is stuff I have been doing half way or putting off for years!

Three miles is quite excellent. I do miss my days of cardio...they are coming back though :) little by little...in October i have a trip planned with lots of walking with friends. I hope to come back from it OK...but i know i'll be resting up after this trip lol...

Hoping to have more regular cardio by wintertine (January).

You inspire me...because i love cardio & miss it dearly.

I have also been buying gifts (family birthdays are Sept thru November! and my friend's bachelorette is Sunday...and my boss' birthday is 9/30 along with his retirement!!! ha! so much going on!) so much money spending! My sister's bday was yesterday & My dad's bday 10/8...mom's is later luckily 11/14...my friends wedding is the weekend after that! $$$$$$$ but for only the best people :)

Vegetable soup is good...i love it homemade. I may do more of this...I am now finally preparing my own puddings & jello now (was buying premade jello dumb for higher prices...and got sick of jello so now i'm delving into sugar free puddings yay)...changes of pace for lower cal options.

Sounds you have a good schedule at home. Bathroom cleaning is....not fun...especially the shower i hate with the molding & all...it never tends to stay looking white & sparkly clean!

I remember your shin issues! So I am glad you are being cautious. I like weight workouts, though and bicycling is not hard on shins. I try to buy things for birthdays and stuff when I see them - but it's hard to do unless you are focused on constantly shopping-which I hate to do. I have found it is easier to cook when you get in a routine and do some prep. I remember V (who I miss on here so much) grilled her chicken breasts on Sundays for the week. I have a friend who does all her meal prep on Sunday and cooks fabulous meals. I didn't get to the bathroom, actually. I will post on my diary tomorrow what I did wind up doing! LOL! Thanks for your comments HOP!
