Cals for yesterday were up -1960 - but so what - I've done well the rest of the week and will do good today.  I am going on a ladies retreat and I hope the food is halfway healthy!  But I'll make do with whatever they have......

Today so far -

B:  Cereal w FF 1/2 and 1/2 and 1/2 banana - that's top many 1//2s

More later - I'm having spagetti again for lunch today with 100 cal pk cookies and diet coke - YUM!

It's Sat. and I DID reread some of my old journals last nite (after a food binge)...I think (hope) I'm back on track as of today...no binge tonite and I did 1100 est cals and 30 mins treadmill today! Hope you're having a wonderful time at your ladies' retreat!!! Will be looking forward to hearing how it went when you come back!

1480 Calories and 1 Hour walk with Dogs  for yesterday!  

Today so far:

B:  Grits with 1% milk and butter & tea 200

L:  Pizza - we are ordering in at the office - I'm going to try to stick with 2-3 pieces of pepperoni and then go easy on dinner.  If I enjoy it - it will be woroth it.  Oh I really over-ate at lunch 2 pieces of thik crust pizza and a loft house cookie 780

I will have to be careful tonight.  I work at the Deli and if I stay busy I won't munch.  I'll just choose low cal stuff tonight and call it OK for today!  

D:  Dinner was not any better - I ate birthday cake - a BIG piece and spagetti with gr turkey meat sauce and 1/2 cup 1% milk  Gonna call it at 980

Total cals for the day  1960m - well this is definitely my big cal day for the M-F week.

Never had grits and only can think of "Flo" from "Alice" saying..."kiss my grits Mel Sharpples" everytime I see someone having eaten them...... Then Paul Dean yesterday was fixing breakfast.... In a large clear glass coffee mug she had about 2/3 full with grits, topped with crisped bacon or sausage, then a poached/scrambled egg, then a bit of cheese... Looked good & beautiful, but not very sweet... I like sweet for a hot cereal!

Holding onto that "I made it feeling" is feeling mighty good!

I LOVE grits, too! I may have to have some tomorrow morning as I haven't had any in a few days! Looks like you did real well again today...good on planning lowcal for supper since a little extra was allowed for lunch. Right now as I key, I am fighting TEMPTATION to have a nite-time food binge. I am so hungry even though ate out buffet around 5pm...it is after 8pm now. MUST BE STRONG!!! Time for a cup of coffee instead! YES!

1340 cals for the day yesterday - but they weren't exactly all the food groups!  See yesterday's update for the details.  I walked 1 hour with dogs, too.  Going to go again today for a walk with dogs.

 

Food OK so far -

B:  Banana and Tea 100

L:  Asparagus and squash casserole 200

D;  Small serving of Spagetti with gr turkey meat sauce (ate this with husband before meeting my girlfriend- He made it!! so wanted to share it with him !)  Shrimp with hot sauce 1000

S:  Nuts and 100 cal pack cookies 180

Total 1480

One hour walk with Dogs

Lots of room for dinner at this rate - that's a good thing.

Estimated calories for yesterday - 1245 so another good day.  I am going walking with the dogs tonight!  Can't wait.

Today so far:

B:  grits with 1% milk and butter, tea  200

L:  McD's grilled chicken wrap - no sauce, yogurt parfait, banana 440

D:  You aren't going to believe this - daughter made a chocolate cake with butter cream icing when I came home from work and that's what I had for dinner!  Well, that and some sun chips and some nuts!  I felt so junked - out that I will eat well today!  Probably 700 calories for Dinner today

1340 cas for the day

Thanks for the support - so, so, so needed! You are doing awesome. Great job on the calorie intake and walking the dogs is good exercise, especially if you have a maniac like one of mine is and get more of a resistance workout than a cardio workout!

Hey, yes, i absolutely loved that movie and i thought the cheerful unexpected dance in the end was brilliant to lighten the mood, no? The dance I took on Friday is a class called A Town Funk (in reference to Atlanta), it's a funky hip hop style. Really fun and not that hard to get. It is kinda that vibe from the Indian dance from the movie in the sense it's a bunch of people doing it together and its so much fun. I would suggest you look for a dance studio in your area and try a few of the classes. Also bellydancing is a really great one to start with as it's not that high impact but great to shape your abs and arms (you keep your arms up most the time) and it's fun and you feel sexy too (that is, after you stop looking like a little duck when you are dancing it in the beginning hahaha, its fun regardless!). xo

oh wow, i didnt realize that. if you were into it for so long, should not be that hard to get back. time is usually an excuse we give ourselves, because i find, at least for me, that the more i do the more i am able to squeeze in. make that a priority and start little by little. twice a week would be enough to get back on track and small enough of a commitment not to overwhelm you. i mean, if you do take 2 dance classes a week and go for a walk on the weekend, thats 3 times and good enough! :)

Dinner Friday night went OK - we had a very good time and I stayed reasonable on the calories - grilled shrimp really helped because it is so low in calories - I had about 8.  See updated menu for Friday below...

This weekend - I did not count, but I know I kept it reasonable.   Yesterday I made yellow cake with one of the reduced sugar pillsbury mixes and had strawberries with splenda and cool whip for a dessert.  It was good.

Walked the dogs on Saturday but not Sunday - I have the femaile thing going on (sorry if TMI) and no energy.  Haen't told you guys, but probably will have procedure to "fix" this problem in April.  More on that later......

Todays Menu so far - 

B:  1/2 cinn raisin bagel and honey nut cream cheese, tea   200

S:  1/2 choc chip cookie - 70 Someone brought the wreched things is this morning and NO ONE is eating them!!  I don't even want them at this point because I have done so well this last 3 weeks.  I want to continue my good thing I'm doing for myself!

L:  Still doing good not eating the choc chip cookies!  Sandwich made with low cal bread, turkey, one slice of salami and mustand, sun Chips, Protein bar 425

D:  Nibbled a bit at the Deli - Just tiny, tiny things but was afraid they would add up so only had Light yogurt and a banana at my break.  Was still hungry at dinner so ate LS Cake and Strawberries and Big spoonful of coolwhip  Hard to count the calories, but I'd say 550 at the most.    

Total for the day 1245 - even if I guessed wrong on the calories I still have a little lea-way to 1400 so this should be good.

I also want to work in more exercise this week.  Weather is good and husband put air in my bike tires.  I want to ride a bit this week if possible.  Have to get some energy, though!

Thank you all for your comments.  I am feeling very strong in my convictions to eat right these days.  We are going out to dinner - to a seafood restaurant tonight with another couple so I will eat light as I can today and have mosts whatever I want (within reason-though) tonight!

I just realized I wasn't hungry this a.m. and didn't eat breakfast at home.  I brought a PBJ to work so will eat that with some tea so I won't gt too hungry later on this afternoon - the domino effect is killer in the afternoon!  I'm planning on McD's again for lunch since it was just so satisfying yesterday and I don't mind eating the same thing if i like it.....will post more later. 

Maria, McWoo, where are you?  Got your messages these past days, but no posts from you all?  How come?  Anyway - wishing you the best and thinking of you! 

 

Menus so far:

B:  PBJ, Tea - 220

L:  McD's Grilled Chic Snack Wrap - no sauce and Yogurt Parfait  350

D:  Grilled Shrimp w/ sweet spicy sauce 150, rice pilaf 200, asparagus no butter 25, biscuit and butter 210, cosmopolitan beverage 250, 1 bite choc mousse cake 50 total meal 885

Total for the day 1455  Not so bad, huh?

Hi! The doctor supervised diet is all low-glycemic foods, plus two protein shakes (made with whey, and lots of vitamins and minerals). One of the biggest changes they had me make is to eat something within one hour of waking up. I used to get up about 4:30 am, but not have anything other than my cup of tea, until about 9 or 10. They told me that by waiting so long, I had screwed up my metabolism. So now I eat within an hour, then eat something else (from my list of food that I have to consume every day) or have a shake, every 2 to 3 hours all day. On top of that, I am still walking the dogs a few miles a day, plus any other exercise I want to fit in.

Whatever it is, it's working!

Yesterday was updated in blue and red below.  Yesterday was successful!  1390 calories.  I worked late at the Deli last night so that was exercise, I guess.  It's pretty weather here so plan to walk the dogs tonight.

I've been thinking - "What If" thinking usually gets me in trouble but this is different:

What if - I didn't make anymore excuses and started eating like I need to eat to be healthy - everyday?

What if - I tried my very best (really) to exercise every day?

What if - I didn't let old habits rule my world and proved that an old "dog" (girl) can learn new tricks?

What if - I asked you what your "what Ifs" would be?

todays menus so far:

B:  Grits, butter, milk, tea 150

S:  Fruit and Nut Granola Bar 140

L:  Ate late (2:30) - McDonalds Grilled Chic Snack Wrap - NO SAUCE, McDonalds Yogurt Parfait Without Granola - total 350 (delicious)! 

S:  Granola from McD's yogurt parfait - 30

D:  corn, kale, squash & onions, 2 corn sticks w/ butter 445

S:  PBJ 220

 Total 1335 for Thursday - 1 hour walk with dogs and husband.....ran a little bit of the way!!  YAY!

 OK - yesterday is updated - YAY!  1385 calories for the day.  I didn't do well at the Mexican restaurant - had only chips and salsa, then PBJ sandwich at home with milk later.  I was satisfied, but not the best nutrition - not bad, though - either.

 To YepItsMe - I couldn't find your posts......daughter does ballroom dance at this time.  She's trained in all types of dance since age 4-5 and attends a High School for the Performing Arts (she's a Senior - 12th grade).  She teaches ballroom to adults and competes in the Professional category.  Thanks for asking.  Sounds like you and I would have something to talk about on worry and the kids.  Whew!

Someone asked my calorie goal - it's to keep it between 1200 and 1400 each day - that way if I go over -  like I do on weekends sometimes -I'm still good for the week overall.  I try for kind of low fat, low sugar if possible- but not extreme.  I try to eat from all food groups and only things I really enjoy.  I stay satisfied most of the time that way and don't go grazing or trolling for sugary stuff.....Also I usually don't count my calories closely as I go - I try to eat in a natural manner as suits my lifestyle and add them up the next morning learning where I went wrong and acting on that rather than obsess (which I'm prone to do) about it as I go.....This may not work for everyone, but it works for me.   I also try to exercise as much as I can - fitting it in my lifestyle, rather than make a big obligation out of it.  I taught aerobics for 14 years and I actually like to exercise.  Lately I'm not able to do much formal exercise due to having a fulltime and parttime job right now.  I'm getting weekends off - so thing might be lookinig up on that score!

So far today - 

B-cereal 120 milk 80 tea 0

I'm switching to hot tea in the a.m. - I'll save calories from the coffee creamer I use and it's a change of taste - we'll see.  I like both tea and coffee...

L:  Quiche, roll, butter, fruit  600 It was delicious - had a business lunch.  

D:  Ravioli 180/Vit Water 100/  Total 280

S:  PBJ - Milk 310

Total for the day 1390 - YAY - ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL DAY  Woo-Hoo!

Yesterday is edited for totals 1890 calories - not bad, but not in the range.  Mostly due to two corn sticks instead of one at lunch and a late-night bowl of grits.  But Rome wasn't built in one day - I have lots of days ahead that will be good ones and I'm moving forward - not looking back!

Today so far: 

B-  2 toast with butter and honey, coffee  375

L - Ham Salad and Crackers (YUCK) tried the Bumble Bee pre-made kind - not so good  230

D:  Chips and Salsa, PBJ, Milk 780

Total 1385 - YAY!!

Oh, well, will make better tasting choices the rest of the day.....going to Mexican restaurant to meet girls at 4:30 will need to be careful......maybe a few chips and salsa.
