Before anyone reads my entry - will someone PLEASE tell me what happened with the 13 year old or something???  I'm so confused and losing friends over this and I need to know what in the world has happened.

Ok - Sorry to be absent - but busy weekend - to update - didn't do it on Thursday's post - but Thursday and Friday were EXCELLENT days.....definitely stayed at 1400 or below on calories.

Saturday was another thing - ate with husband at Mexican restaurant - not too badly , but then I OD'ed on mini choc chip scones.  Made up for some of it - but Saturday and Sunday were probably total of 4,500 - for both days - average of 2250 each day....not awful - back on the good plan today and will be all week!

Stressed a iittle because daughter went to on road trip for dance competition 5.5 hours away in Indiana - near Chicago, actually - Merrillsville, IN - she's 17 - others- older - drove, but still - hard not to worry.  She made it back safe and they came in 7th out of 19 couples.  That's good for them so far.  No money, but some recognition.

To - haha_lovetolaugh - I drink 1% milk.....

Menus so far today:

B-  Grits, butter and milk 220  coffee 75

L - Restaurant food - vegetable plate - corn, kale greens, squash and cheese, two corn sticks with butter  550

D:  Snickers candy bar and a banana - 370 - I know this was not great nutrition wise, but it's what I wanted and with in the calorie limit

S:  grits 220

Total for the day 1890 - a little higher than I was aiming for - but it's OK in the big picture of things!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

legcramps on 03/02/2009:
Hey, congrats to your daughter for the great job! Overall, you had a great weekend! Keep it going!

nenak on 03/02/2009:
good weekend all round by the sounds of it. as for the 13 something. im in the dark to and i posted both saturday and sunday!!! so if you find out let me know!

YepItsMe~ on 03/02/2009:
Mini chocolate chip scones~Let me just say YUMMY!!! sigh~LOL

WTG for your daughters dancing success!! That's so cool and you must be very proud! Whut kind of dancing does she do exactly? I thought she was on like a drill team or something, but I see you mention couples dancing~

It's normal to worry, trust me. My son is 19 and goes to Morgantown which is a couple hours away to visit friends in college up there~and I'm always nervous until he steps through the front door~Then I can breath again!!

Wishing you a wonderful Monday!

selina on 03/02/2009:
Hi hollybelle, Congratulations on your daughter's dancing competition! My daughter (12) also dances at competitions and is presently training for the Suiss National Championship in June. As you know, it's exciting to watch... BTW, she competes in tapdancing but she also does ballet and jazz....

loveray on 03/03/2009:
i am a little lost as well...maybe better that way...haha. hope you are doing well- yes, the serenity prayer. it is my greatest challenge to let go and let g-d, but it always works when i surrender to the process. i hope you have a wonderful day! xoxo

biscottibody59 on 03/03/2009:
It's kinda complicated, I deleted previous comments I left you. If you didn't read WI3's last entry, you missed a good one. I really think she was onto something accusing the 13 y/o of not being 13--it just didn't add up! And if she was 13, I don't think this forum would have made a difference one way or the other for her--my opinion.

As for WI3 herself, she had been having quite a hard time with things--her health and personal griefs that she mentioned.

Thinnie--her entries speak for themselves.

Maria*--she went private before all this "13 y/o drama" started. I didn't read why or when.

I'm moving forward--hope you have a wonderful week!

thinnside40 on 03/03/2009:
Holly ~ If you could see the entries taht have went private, I think you would understand a whole lot better.... I being the emotional person I am and remembering how it was to be 13 & obese was having a tough time with her parent's being accused of being "stupid", etc to allow her to become the weight she had... THey had enabled her somehow most likely, etc..... Which may be true..... None of us KNOW for sure..... I guess it was the emotional state of this child that bothered me, even though she was accused of being able to take it if she felt adult enough to be on DD..... I personally can't comment or judge anyone based upon what actual little information and details there is on such a diary of ha_ha_love2laugh's..... Being a parent I guess just hit home in the lack of consideration was given if this girl was legit... Granted she should of NEVER been here on DD by herself (maybe if her mom had joined with her to showw support would of helped alot of this confusion out).... Any kid can tell a webmaster "ya, parent said it's o.k. I'm here"

Her story never did add up to me in the fact that she was 265#"s and played basketball without griping (at least not on here),Shopping with friends @ the mall, but not griping about how hard it was to find cute clothes, yes, I had asked her age when I saw her photo... It gave her away.... BUT, then someone says "you know anybody can get a picture of anybody on the internet and post it as theirself".... Just some comments to me being nice, but undertones of otherwise in individual post were counterdictory or at least it came across that way to me.... There again, I wish everybody could see the "privateers" to see where my entry was coming from... May get a hint in reading comments on others diaries to one another..I don't know....and I'm certainly not here to get anyone mad at anyone else.... Nor to get them to leave DD...It was a personal decision I made in not wanting to possibly ever come across something as delicate as a 13 year old girls life again and possibly having it on DD's head that they had reached a point of rock bottom and found harshness in word... All I need to see is...It's not worth living if I can't find support or something like that. Then have them disappear to never know what happened (if anything happened, etc).... I need to stop trying to save the whole world is bottom line I guess......It's just me! The one who dwells on too many "what if's" and allows that to make decisions for her....

I screwed up BIG time in making my posts so personal all the time, but it was the tool I have needed before now to make it like I have and never had.... I should of NEVER opened myself up so much in my entries and kept things closer to my vest and more on just eating habits, etc..... DD was my outlet, as friends are few & far between for me to let my guard down and trust..... Being the underdog most of my life, makes me wanna fight for the same.... You ever see Benchwarmers? My family knowing that my lifestyle has changed, etc aren't all that supportive in action and usually make me feel a bit sabotaged......

I want you ALL to succeed and will keep tabs on my favorites...... One day may show up, but not have much to post other than update of status in numbers......

As I close really, I just wanted to say you aren't losing a friend in me.......XOXO

Well, rats !  I started a new entry and lost it!  Basically I said

Look at updates from Monday.

I wasn't on all day yesterday because of Professional Conference I was in all day.

I did good at the conference.  We are a health care industry related organization and we had only healthy food.  I was so busy I didn't have much time to eat, anyway.  Had one cocktail - a cosmopolitan

Posted menu, but don't have time to do it again.

Tuesday total calories were 1275!

Today so far -

B - Grits w/ butter, coffee 275

L- Fazolis Kid's Lasagne and 1 breadstick 410

D-Ate weird things, kind of grazed, but all was OK Turkey 40. small donut 60 BBQ wing (1) 75, grapes, delux mixed nuts 350 Total of Meal = 525

Total Cals for the day 1210

YAY! for me!

Ha!  I'm doing good!  YOU can too!

WI2 and McWoo - Where are you all?

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Well, DDers - Saturday turned out to be an eating disaster.

I was at the mercy of husband's relatives and where they wanted to go to eat.  The places they chose had no good choices.  And I mean AT ALL.   I wound up eating chili (3way) for lunch and a Big Boy burger and Onion Rings and ice cream for dinner.

Yesterday was much better.  I kept track as best as I could but don't have time to itemize here (can you tell it's tax time??)  I estimate 2300 Sat and about 1700 yesterday.  That's OK.  I am back on the healthy habit trail today.  I really did enjoy the food I had Saturday.  I don't usually even eat that kind of stuff, anyway so it was a good endulgence that should last me quite awhile.

today so far -

B-Banana, cofffee  175  (low I know - but not too hungry and had to dash out of the house for work.)

L - SW Chicken Soup. Chex Mix,

D- Pot Roast, M potatoes, Roll w/ jam 470

S -   Milk 110

Total Cals - 1160

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Maria* on 02/23/2009:
You and I are having/have had the SAME breakfast this morning!!!

Well, you 2300 Sat and 1700 yesterday look FANTASTIC to me! (Especially since I've been on a CONSISTANT EATING SPREE for DAYS!!! My cals were EXTREMELY high yesterday.

I think it is a good thing that a person can go off their eating plan and have a little indulgence every now and then. It is when it becomes a HABIT (such as it has for me) that it is not a good thing.

Big smile to you!

thinnside40 on 02/23/2009:
Big Boy?!?!?!?!?!? I have'nt seen one of those for years.... Our last one went out of business about 10 years ago... One of my favorite places (or was)...

Your plans sound real good!

Maria* on 02/23/2009:
Thank you. I SO NEEDED to hear your comment to me! It has REALLY got me to thinking. As for Mom, she's been taking antibiotics for bronchitis symptoms, don't know if they will help w the ulcer on her foot or not but should since it is amoxicillin which treats a lot of different things.

Anyway, I LOVE what you wrote to me and shall keep it on my mind, cause everything is NOT in my control and that is a huge RELIEF to me to consider. Love you, Friend!!!

Maria* on 02/23/2009:
Hey there, Hollybelle...it is late afternoon here now...after 4pm and I just want you to know that what you said to me this morning has stayed on my mind and helped me a LOT today! Big smile to you over there in Kentucky from over here in South Carolina!!!!!

Yesterday is updated in red below - my comments say it all - OK calories - not good balanced nutrition.  Well, it happens...at least the calories were OK.

FYI - I am not and was not upset about the amount of calories I ate on Thursday.  Thanks for the comments, but I'm OK.  I just didin't stay in the 1200-1400 range.  But, really that range is only what I aim for - realizing all the while that is kind of low - knowing all the while that I will go over that range from time to time.  I set it that low because I want to be able to go over it so that I achieve a balance over all.  Lower some days, higher some days.  My plan is:

listen to my body and eat when I am hungry

eat often enough I don't get overly hungry

eat only food I really enjoy

choose healthy well balanced food from all categories

keep calories between 1200-1400 lower range - up to 1800 higher range

eat as much whole foods and as low fat and sugar as possible, but not to the extreme

exercise as much as I can within my schedule

That's it.  We are going out of town to in-laws. Hope I can post tomorrow.  See you all sooon - don't mess up your weekend - do a good job on your goals today and tomorrow if at all possible DD'ers!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

haha_love2laugh on 02/21/2009:
Glad to hear that you weren't upset! and good idea having a lower range and a higher range.

Maria* on 02/21/2009:
Good plan and hope you have fun going out of town!!!! (SMILE!)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/22/2009:
you have good goals! :) yeah, getting upset about oneself really defeats the purpose of trying to improve our attitudes! :) i like your plan very much!

Yesterday was 1785 calories - see my updated entry in red.  It was higher than I have been eating, but it's good to mix it up a bit so the body keeps on keeping on burning those calories and not hoarding them, I think.  I didn't get any exercise in, but maybe tonight.  I think I'll be able to walk the dogs when I get home.  Elle (the collie/shepard mix) has a sore foot - not sure what's going on.  We'll watch it and see what's up.  She has torn her toenails before, but couldn't see any damage.....

Anyway - today so far:

B-Oatmeal with 1/4 C 1% milk almonds and 1 T cinn sugar 160  coffee 75

S-Someone brought Pannera BAGELS in today - instead of eating a whole one or even 1/2 there was one cinn crunch one that was oddly (thinly) sliced on the bottom, so I took that one and put some LF honey walnut CC on it and so I estimate about 150

L-Ate late - 1:30 - Arby's Med Roast Beef Sand - 415

S - Chex mix 350

D - Potato Crowns Toast and butter and jam 450

S- Dove Dark Chocolatae - one piece 50

Total 1650 Calories  Not bad considering I really had trrible nutrition for the whole day.  I went to a Board meeting and they had big bowls of chex mix stuff sitting everywhere.  I moved it a couple of times but it kept coming back and it was 3:30!!!  So I just tried to make up for it the rest of the night and I did ok.  I'll get more balanced foods in today for sure!  Whew, what a weird menu!

will update later - trying to think of healthy lunch within my cal goal.........

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Maria* on 02/20/2009:
You sure are doing REAL well!!!! Hope you have a happy, blessed day!!! :-)

thinnside40 on 02/20/2009:
I sense just a tad of discouragement, even though you said your 1785 calories was good.... Ya?/No?...

Just you being here every day so far is a great thing.... high days/Low days are going to come/go..It is the overall average for the week or time between say weigh-ins that makes the difference too....

Best in finding what your gunna eat for lunch!

thinnside40 on 02/20/2009:
Good, I'm glad your O.K. with how it is going.....

Yesterday was good.  1480 calories and 2 mile walk with dogs - see updated menu on yesterday's post

Today so far:

B-grits with 1/4 C 1% milk and 1 T butter 210 coffee 75

I will update all today/tomorrow.

L- Grilled Chicken Breast and salad 660 went to lunch with a friend and this is big meal for me!  I didn't eat the bread, though and had light dressing.  Must be careful tonight ot listen to my body and eat well and not too much as tonight is CHURCH DINNER!  Yikes!  It's always something good and oh, the desserts!!!.

S-One Dove Dark Chocolate piece - 50?

D-chicken casserole, roll - no butter, fruit cocktail Probably 650

S-Chex Bar (these are the choc ones - they are OK, but I won't buy them again) 140

Total (drum roll, please) 1785 calories - Not as low as I would have liked but it's OK.  Better than it could have been if I didn't try.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

I just love seeing yer name EVERY DAY...... Then I get to read your being successful... Yay!...

I saw yer comment to omaha ~ Reverse eating.... Ugh, Suppertime is the worst for me, cause it is m "down time".. Usually fix a nice supper for the family & want to eat eat eat, not making the best choices for my health even though the foods are healthy..There IS such a thing as TOO MUCH of a good thing.... I'm proof!... Anyway, I had seen a woman on t.v. who went reverse in her eating and I mean full fledge reverse... Supper for breakfast, lighter dinner & breakfast for supper..... Her WHOLE family started @ like 5:30 in the morning the same way..... She had downsized by 100+ pounds doing this.... So, I kinda have been trying it and moreso this last few days... The oatmeal @ night has been so comforting, but I get great pleasure knowing how healthy it is for me.... Plus, fixing just enough for me makes me not want anymore.... Today I fixed the families supper the same as what I ate for my dinner... I'll see how often I can get that done or will go to eating the next day's dinner the previous supper contents... I hope that came out right to make sense..If not, I usually can't make sense of me either... LOL

Have a great evening!

Yesterday's updates in red below.  I did good.  1315 for the day - I am encouraged because as I looked at my menus for yesterday I see that I ate small meals, and several snacks....That shows me that I am listening to my body and eating iwhen I'm hungry - I'm not denying I'm hungry and I'm not denying myself food, BUT, I don't OVEReat, either.  This is a good thing!

Today - so far:

B-cereal and 1% milk 1/2 banana 220 coffee 75

L-Fazoli's Kid's Lasagne and most of a breadstick 385  This is a little higher than mosr of my lunch totals but still leaves me 720 calories to go to my max allowance of 1400 calories for the day, so I should be OK.

D-Vietnam Food - YUM YUM  I ate 1/2 the entry and saved the rest for me or husband today.  Had stirfried noodles with pork and salad roll.  I am estimating 660 calories

S- Chex mix bar 140

Total calories 1480  Exercise - 2 mile walk with the dogs!

will update later.....going to try to get on ELIPTICAL TRAINER for 15 minutes tonight woo-hoo!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

WI3 on 02/18/2009:
Keep up the great work!!!

Maria* on 02/18/2009:
I just now read your menu for yesterday...wow you did EXCELLENT...and that is a lot of food and a lot of meals/snacks for the total cals....SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! Thanks for sharing about the oatmeal...I know it is good for you...I'm a 'grits' person, myself but I am wanting to change over to oatmeal cause I think it is better for a person. So when I go to the store, think I'll buy a box of oatmeal and give it a try...

Thanks for the reminder of the birds in the trees and the squirrel I saw yesterday and that it IS getting close to springtime...that made me smile...I'd forgotten and was thinking about it raining here...that put me back into that frame of mind I was in yesterday, thinking about springtime almost here and Hubby and me (Lord willing) going to the beach for a long weekend in the spring.

I really like what you wrote in your entry above about 'listening' to your body and eating when you're hungry... you know what??? That is what I did yesterday, too!!! (Although I wasn't real careful w calories cause I usually baby myself a little when I'm not feeling good.) And even though my cals were a little high yesterday, I felt that I'd done well, cause I'd eaten and knew I'd not OVEREATEN. That's a good feeling, isn't it?

Have fun on your eliptical trainer! You're an INSPIRATION to me!!!! Happy day!!!

She says she has been given a second chance at living a good life. She said that Ethan was the awakening she needed to see that life is truly a blessing! She was so good with him, which makes me miss her even more. Sigh...

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 163.0

Took a short break from writing down food this weekend.  Worked on Friday night and did good - no problem with food choices.  Had to go back to work on Saturday morning - 'til 8:00.

Saturday I must say I did endulge in a bit of chocolate - Dove milk choc with almonds, to be exact - I'd say I had about 15 total of the little bliss squares.  More than I should have, probably, but all in all - it could have been SO SO much worse.  Husband and I went  for a late supper on Saturday night at Mexican restaurant - practiced moderation and only had 1/2 of my chicken enchilada and a few chips.  Was really too tired to eat!  Exercise was work at the Deli on Fri & Sat and washing two mongrel dogs on Sunday afternoon!  Whew!

I am back to my writing down food and better habits today!

Today so far:

B-Coffee  75, 2 pieces of cinn raisin toast 325

Lunch - Vegetables at neighborhood restaurant.  Corn, green beans, squash and fried green tomatos one corn stick with butter  600

Dinner - Banana, grapes, Snapple Diet Tea 170

Snack - PBJ Sandwich - 210

1305 total Calories - YAY I did it - BUT it wasn't easy!  It helped that I worked the night shift at the Deli!  OK - today will be a good day, too....I can do it!

Better keep it lean and low the rest of the day, but I'm sure full enough and satisfied right now.  Will shoot for only about 400 calories the rest of the day/night.

God bless - Holly

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Thanks for your comment...I filled out a complaint/grievance form and turned it in at the nurses' desk.

Your breakfast this morning sounded real good. Writing down food...that is something I need to start disciplining myself to do again also!

Hope you are having a wonderful evening.
