Day 4 was good!  I dodged bullets all day long.  I posted the updates in red on Thursday's entry so you can see totals and then I will give you today (so far) below on today's entry.  tdI hope I can do it again today since usually we get candy at work on Valentine's Day!!  Yesterday I didn't have anything at the Pannera Bread place with my friend and no dessert at the church dinner and it was something I really liked, too!!!  Breadpudding with caramel sauce!!  I didn't have any exercise yesterday but will make up for it tonight because I have to work at Delli - and Saturday - can you believe it??

Today so far - Small portion of Oatmeal with cinn sugar and Blueberries - this was GREAT 200 Coffee  75

Snack : Two Choc covered Strawberries (hey - it's Valentines Day - ALMOST!)  60

Lunch - Subway Tuna on wheet no cheese, light chips 425

See my updates for Wednesday in red on Wednesday's post below.  Day 3 was good!  It's a start!  Gotta start somewhere and this is it for me!

As for today - sop far:

Breakfast - smaller serving of oatmeal with almonds and cinn sugar 165 Coffee 75

Lunch- 1 Cup Hamburger Casserole - Co-worker made it  was delicious - don't know calories but small amount so I will say 400

Dinner - (Church Meal) Pork tenderloin with a few mushrooms and two small new potatoes - and a roll - no butter and NO DESSERT (and it was something I love - am I motivated or what??) 550

Snack - at 4:30 - Granola bar and 1/2 C 1% milk 170

Total Calories - 1360  No real elxercise, though not too bad!!!

I didn't bring lunch and I don't have a planned snack in my purse - so I must BE CAREFUL of what I grab.  I remember I always did so much better when I had a granola bar or piece of fruit in my purse so that I had something nutritious and appropriate handy.  Planning is key. 

Tonight I am meeting a friend at Pannera Bread Co. for coffee and I'll have to be careful not to give in to a pastry or something like that.  ALSO - double jepordy....tonight is my church group meeting and we have dinner - something very fattening - hence why I had a lighter breakfast and (I hope) lunch.  I am seeing as I write this that today MUST be about BALANCE if it is going to be a successful day.  Tonight I will eat a SMALL portion of the entree and more vegetables, if they are healthy - that is, and no dessert OR only a small bite or two (max) of the dessert.  I can do it - I'll try to remember that what it takes for me to be healthy is saying NO in certain instances and that is is OK for me to do so!!!  No one knows better what I need than me!  Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted!

See my updates for Tuesday in red below.  Day 2 - was good!  No munching in Deli and I escaped birthday cake at work.  My calorie total Tuesday was 1275!  I'm going to do this - I'm into it-I'm "back"! 

Today so far:

Breakfast - Grits with butter and milk 215 Coffee 75

Lunch - 1/2 Turkey Pannini, 1/2 C Minestrone Soup 8 homemade potato chips (Their calories are not listed anywhere I could find on the web so I am going to estimate 550 Calories - It was a small sandwich and I only had about 7 bites of the vegetables from the soup - it was too salty)

Snack - Banana 100

Dinner - Ate out AGAIN - but at the vegetable serving place in the neighborhood -  Corn, 3 Fried Green Tomatos, squash and onions, one corn stick with a tiny bit of butter - 400

No nighttime snack -

Total Cals - 1340 - might be a little low on this but it's in a good range so if I went over this by 200-300 , I'm still satisfied with the day.

EXERCISE - YES!!!  I walked an hour with husband and dogs - we walked 2.5 miles.   

For lunch I have to attend a Bd Meeting of my professional association and I have already ordered what I am having, but I have forgotten what it is !  Strategy - if it's not the best choice I will eat 1/2 of it......we'll see - more later.

Breakfast - Coffee and FF Van Creamer 75 Cereal, skim milk and 1/2 banana 200

Lunch - 6 Breton Crackers and 1 Cup Chick Salad 320

snack - banana 100

subtotal:  695


Dinner - Hormel Tamales (surprisingly not too bad tasting and not too bad fat content!) 300

Snack - English Muffin, Stawberry jam, 1% milk 280

Total - 1275 Exercise - Deli work   

tonight work in Deli AGAIN so that will be my exercise.  I'll update for totals tomorrow a.m. stay tuned for more success!!  ha-ha!

OK - today is the day.  I am starting my food diary and going to try to do REGULAR exercsise.  No back-burner for this stuff.  It's coming to the front of the stove and I'm going to start COOKIN'!

Breakfast - Oatmeal w/skim milk, pecans and cinn sugar/splenda & 1/3 banana  - 280

coffee w/ splenda and FF Van. creamer - 75

Mid-a.m. snack - apple 65 -

Lunch - 1 C Beef stew - homemade 200 

Dinner - Lean Cusine Mac & Beef 310

Snack - Skim Milk , Banana 200 


Total 1130  Exercise:  Work at the DELI!!


YAY  I resisted fried foods and all kinds of sweets yesterday - first time in AGES and AGES!






I'll update as the day goes on and at the end of the day or (more likely) the next a.m.

I bought it at SAM's club (it comes fully cooked)-- i think it is called spinach and asiago cheese sausage. I cut it in slices and browned it in a pan then added it to my pasta sauce.

Hello everyone.  I am still hanging around.  Have been so busy with two jobs and other things.  Daughter's senior (last) year of High School is winding down.  Lots to do, though.

I have been working long hours at Deli job - closed by myself two out of last three days and that is just exhausting.  Everyone is calling in sick or can't come because of icy roads.  I am not going to do it any more.  If they do not have proper staff tonight I am going to quit.  It is snowing all day and still more tonight.  I know a lot of you get snow all the time in northern climes and it's no biggie - but here we get ice and it paralyzes us.  There are still 250+ people statewide without power.  Governor wanted President O to declare disaster area here.  Some folks haven't had gasoline, because pumps are electricly driven,  in a week and no electric and no water.  We have been very  lucky - never lost power at our house and most in my town are restored - but not all.  Couldn't get a hotel room for about 3 days.  I think hotels and restaurants had a bit of a windfall!

On diet front - holding my own.  I am neither up or down from 6 months ago.  I would like to lose 10-15 lbs to be more comfortable.  I'll get around to it - just can't focus right now.

Still looking for full-time job with better pay.  Jobs are scarce right now-period.  

The house is still not totally done - will be having floor refinished end of Feb when we go out of town for 3 days - have to be gone so that varnish on floors can dry......then can put everything out of boxes and have house deep cleaned.  Whew - what a haul - but i can now say I think it will be worth it to have everything back in order and updated.

Been reading a few diaries and hope to catch up on more later.  God bless - Holly

I know you left a comment for me, but also glad you posted today....I have been hearing about that nasty weather...Sure does put a damper on things when your not used to it... You would think that people around here weren't used to it either the way they behave smoetimes or cry for help.... Preparation is a must... Been wondering about your house situation...I'll bet you will be SO HAPPY when it is all finished and you can settle in for sure.... Your gunna have to throw a BIG party!

This weekend wasn't too bad.  I didn't overeat.  I maintained pretty well.  This was mostly because I was pretty sick this weekend, LOL!  Bronchitis is back and I was feeling puny.  Took mucinex and lots of tea/water-much better now, I think.

I did 15 ab exercises this morning - gotta start somewhere, right ?  I'll be doing 30 by the end of the week. 

Right now I'm not too motivated to exercise due to bronchitis and second job, but that will change eventually. 

Nothing stays  the same forever unless WE  let it, right?

The state you live in, KY, is my Hubby's and my favorite state, not counting the one we live in. We visited your state for the first time in 2004 on vacation...I had always been curious about the state of Kentucky...mainly the mountain region...do you live in the mountains? Anyway, we visited the mountains and the flatland, too and both were very beautiful. Hubby really liked the Daniel Boone National Forest and still talks about it...even tried to talk me into us moving there after we came back from vacationing there! It IS lovely country!

Hiya Holly,It's lovely to hear from you.It's funny i was only thinking about you today and wondering why had'nt you been posting tut tut.Yes i am TRYING to knuckle down and get this weight shifted but there is a long road ahead.I am trying to stay away from the scales as i think this is my downfall.I am seeing the dietician most fridays to get weighed and there is a weight management clinic,which there is a long waiting list so every bit of suppoort helps.How's everything your end?Is the house finished?How's the job at the deli,i supposed that is keeeping you busy.Many thanks for you supportive comments,they spur me along which is what i need.I really need to stick with this as the health is being effected,the doc said my abnormal liver results is due to being over-weight,then there is the bp.Anyway please keep in touch,and take care of yourself,your dd buddy!!!

Hello diary pals!  I am reporting this week that I have done so much better.  My pants are a bit looser on me than before and I feel I am headed in a much better direction.

I haven't exercised per se, but I am on my feet so much at the second job.  I did some ab exercises this week and drank PLENTY of water.

I have been doing better on fruits and vegetables, too.

I'll try to post more specifics later, but know I'm still out here and  I AM doing better - so YAY for me!

Here I m once again!  Hope everyone's Christmas, Hanukkah or whatever was celebrated was wonderful.  We had a good time, but the pt job wore me out on certain days and I wasn't able to do everything I planned.  But - SURPRISE - I just didn't worry too much about it and it all turned out fine!

Well, question of the day is:  Is life all about setting goals and limits?  Sure seems like it to me right now.  I am looking ahead and determining to get back on track in the month of January.  NOTE:  This is NOT a new year's resolution - I don't believe in them.  I want to just get with heathier habits.  I have been so off schedule the last 6 months!  I know you all are tired of hearing about the last 6 months and the house disaster, but it has affected me more than I thought when it gets down to it.  But here I go again - thinking about goals, limits and the like.....not a "bad" thing, but I need a new mind set for this - I'll work on it and get back to you!!

In the meantime - Happy New Year to eeryone.

thats great!! yea, it sure seems like its the time of year to set those goals...but realistically, every day is our " new year! i do believe that keeping to a plan or schedule really helps us stay true to our goals and helps us achieve! good luck and love.

This week has been better than the weekend.  I had a "eat too many sweets"-day yesterday, but otherwise OK.  

I am looking forward to Christmas and seeing family.  I really miss having company over to our house and decorating the house, etc., but it's been an interesting year all the way around (with the tree falling on tohe house and all).

We finally got the carpet installed (although they didn't ship enough carpet and they still have our 13 stairs to do (can you believe it), but all in all that's not bad.  We are beginning to put the stuff up that has been boxed up for 6 months and that we had to move our of cloests and drawers for the carpet install.  There is some light at the end of the tunnel and it might not be the train, after all!  We have the refinishing of the hardwood floors to go - that will make a mess, then a big-time clean up of the whole house (I'm talking cleaning ceiling lights and mini-blinds and the whole enchillada-and we should be ready for company by Valentines Day!!  In the end I think we will believe the whole mess to be a "blessing in disguise".  We will come out ahead with improvements on our house at a "reasonable" price.

I am still working at the Deli 2 week nights until 10:30-11:00p and 1 weekend night 'til 11:00p for money to pay for the carpeting. It's going OK - hard work, but I enjoy certain aspects of it.  The full-time job lead I was talking about earlier this week - not sure where that is going.  I have played phone tag with the personnel person who contact me a couple of times and then I've left 2-3 more messages and not heard anything at all back at this point.  I am confused.  Not sure what has happened.

Anyway - tonight I plan to put more stuff away, catch up on laundry and go visit two ladies who live in "Senior Housing" downtown (I know them from church).  Their apts are having an Open House and they invited me WEEKS AGO - how could I say no!  Hopefully I'll get some candy making (fudge) in before that and be able to take them some.  Daughter and I want to make cookies tomorrow or Sunday.  I have to pick up 1/2 a Honey Baked Ham today.  Would have gotten it a little closer to Christmas, but I had a $50 coupon for it that expires today so have to get it today.  I understand they freeze nicely and I'll just talke it out a couple days before Christmas.

Hey Holly. Glad to hear the home repairs are getting completed. It seems as soon as I have one thing done i notice something else that needs to be repaired. I bet you are super busy in the Deli with all the party tray and just other business. I use to hate this time of year as I was always working overtime and even had to work overnights in order to get all the trays done. Have a wonderful day!
